#1948 & #1949 Get 'The Works' 5-31-2023

Around 9:40 last night, I got a text from someone at the Mary S. Robert's spay/neuter clinic letting me know they were canceling surgeries today. I normally don't look at my phone that late but I am grateful I did. In addition to that text, I received a voicemail from the woman who had two dogs scheduled for the works at Riverside County Animal Services spay/neuter clinic. Her phone has been off for the past week so I figured she was not going to make it today but I was wrong. I called her back and reminded her of the place and time. As far as the other clinic, I was asked to only bring two small male pets so I removed the dogs from the schedule and put in two male cats. In any case, I later found out that the clinic was not going to do any surgeries. (The gentleman with four dogs scheduled never showed up or contacted me so that turned out to be a good thing although I was aggravated. If things had been different, he would have wasted four appointments.) Unfortunately, there was no way for me to contact one of the companion's but I was able to set something up with Van Buren Animal Hospital. I was going to have the Mary S Robert's clinic do the microchip and vaccinations and have the neuter done at Van Buren. After I left the Department of Animal Services clinic, I went home for a few minutes and then went back out to the other clinic to meet the woman with the cat and let her know our plans had changed. After all of that, she was a no show. Even after she confirmed with me yesterday morning, she neither showed up or contacted me. I was frustrated to waste the trip but it gave me extra time to go to our storage units for more pet supplies and waters. "One by one we get them done, because the only way to combat pet overpopulation and euthanasia in our shelters is to spay and neuter"... Waters from Niagara Bottling Company, ARCO fuel card, large collar and leash set, Max and Neo leash, plush squeaky pet toy, Inaba Churu Rolls, Mega Churus, Inaba Churus, wet puppy food, Inaba Twins for dogs, chicken jerky treats, and kabob chew sticks were shared.

Thursday's Treasures 5-30-2023

Eight pets were originally scheduled for 'the works' tomorrow, After I was told Mary S. Roberts would not have a doctor to do surgeries the next couple of weeks or so, I tried to contact the companions to let them know. I have been unable to reach any of them so I have no idea if they will all show up, I can't even reach the woman who is supposed to have two dogs done at the Riverside County Department of Animal Services clinic... While trying to figure that out, I received a call from the Mary S Roberts clinic telling me they could do three small male pets so I spent the rest of the morning trying to fill those spots. As of now, tomorrow is still pretty much a mystery... I did not have any set plans again this morning so I decided to go to a couple of places I did not make it to yesterday. I started at the downtown Salvation Army but nobody was there with pets so I continued driving out to Reid Park. There was nobody there with pets so I drove over to Center Street where I caught up with a couple of dogs and their companion. They gave been sleeping at another location but happened to go over to Center Street late last night. The companion told me where I could find someone else I have not seen in a couple of months. I went there next and could not believe how big the puppy had gotten. I visited, distributed supplies and spoke with the companion of some cats. I actually spayed one of them but we never did the other two. I am not sure when I would be able to get them at this point in time so I did not press the issue. My final stop was off of Fairmount Boulevard. I visited some dogs, spoke to a woman whose cat is supposed to get neutered tomorrow, distributed supplies and spoke to a gentleman with a female pit that I would like to have spayed. I was running out of supplies by now so I decided to head over to our PO Box, to pick up my mail in eye drop prescription, and then home... Waters from Niagara Bottling Company, pet jacket, LED pet collar light, medium collar and leash set, plush squeaky pet toy, Inaba Churu Rolls, Mega Churus, chicken jerky treats, Inaba Twins for cats, small bags of dog food, small bag of kitten food, wet puppy food, kabob chew sticks and bully sticks were shared.

Because of the holiday, the Access Center was closed and I was not sure if any pets would be outside with their companions. I did not have any definite plans so I just drove over to check things out. There were actually a few dogs out there. A large group of them belong to people who will not allow us to spay and neuter so I did not have any communication with them. Another dog was in a vehicle with her companion and two were sitting on the sidewalk in front of the Access Center. After a visit and distribution of supplies, I drove over to Hunter Park. There was nobody there with pets so I headed to Fairmount Park. I saw someone I knew parked near the park but her windows were still all covered up so I did not stop. I did not see anyone with pets inside the park so I thought I would cut the day short and head back home. On my way, I was driving up Mission through Rubidoux and I stopped to talked to someone I visited the other day. I wanted to know if she had seen someone else I had been looking for. She said she had not seen him but there was someone else with a dog in her tent. It happened to be a dog we provided services for but that I had not seen in quite some time. I visited with both dogs, distributed supplies for each of them and then I went home... Waters from Niagara Bottling Company, body wipes, hand warmers, Inaba Churu Rolls, Inaba Twins for dogs, wet dog food, Inaba chicken fillets, small bag of puppy food, small bag of dog food, wet puppy food, small collar, small leash, small Kong squeaky balls, kabob chew sticks and bully sticks were shared.

Other than some slight swelling on my face, I am recuperating nicely and there is almost no discomfort inside my mouth so there was no way I was staying in another day. Although I was not able to catch up with a couple of people and pets I was looking, I did manage to find a few others. I started off going up University on the Eastside. I did not see three of the pets I was hoping to but I did visit with two and distributed supplies. From there I went to Hunter Park. The person and pet I was looking for there were nowhere to be found and I could not reach them by phone. The woman who parks on a nearby street with her two dogs was sleeping so I did not stop for them. I drove past the Access Center on my way to Third Street where I spotted a familiar woman who has a dog. I pulled into the Smart and Final Parking lot so I could visit them. My final stop was at Fairmount Park. While I was driving around looking for one person, I noticed a gentleman on a bike. There were two dogs on leashes and they were running alongside him. When I stopped in one of the lots and they came over, I saw there was one more dog. He was tucked away in a backpack. I normally visit with them at a different location but I was happy to stop where they were today. After I left that location, I made a quick stop at the grocery store and headed home... Waters from Niagara Bottling Company, large bag of recyclables, Repel bug repellant, Inaba Churu Rolls, Inaba Twins for dogs, Inaba Churus, Inaba chicken fillets, 20 pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, small bags of puppy food, wet puppy food, kabob chew sticks and bully sticks were shared.

I wasn't sure how I was going to be feeling after yesterday's oral surgery or if my face was going to be puffed up like a balloon but everything was ok so I was able to do my normal Friday travels. I went to Massachusetts, on the Eastside, and parked next to the Access Center. I visited with and distributed supplies for seven pets. When I left that location, I drove through Rubidoux and found a pet and companion I had been looking for. After our visit, I distributed supplies and then headed home to pick up my daughter and my dog 'Sammy'. He was due for his rabies vaccination so we took him in for that. I never made it to our PO Box but will try to get over there tomorrow... Waters from Niagara Bottling Company, Inaba Churu Rolls, Inaba Twins for dogs, Inaba Mega Churus, Inaba Churus, Inaba chicken fillets, wet dog food, 20 pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, small bags of dog food, medium sized bag of dog food, small and medium collar/leash sets, kabob chew sticks and bully sticks were shared.

We out four of the pets that received 'the works' yesterday in motel rooms with their companions. They checked in last night and will check out tomorrow. This morning, I went there to see how they were doing and all seemed to be recuperating nicely. I found out that two of the small dogs we spayed had a total of eight litters if puppies. I believe the companion said that produced a total of twelve puppies. None were spayed or neutered, before they went to the people who took them and that is frustrating but I am grateful these two will not be adding to pet overpopulation from this day forward. I was only at the motel for about forty minutes, because I had to drive out to the Loma Linda School of Dentistry for the exploratory surgery on my gums around a dental implant that was done many years ago. Not something I was looking forward to physically or financially but it had to be done. If my face is not swollen up tomorrow like a chipmunk with a mouth full of nuts then I will be doing my daily travels... Waters from Niagara Bottling Company, Taco Bell gift cards, Inaba Churu Rolls, Inaba Twins for dogs, Inaba chicken fillets, wet dog food, 20 pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, denim pet jacket, Max and Neo dog collar and Max and Neo leash were shared.

I am still trying to unwind from this hectic day. There was one female dog and one female cat scheduled at the Riverside County Department of Animal Services spay/neuter clinic. The cat's companion had her there on time but the dog's companion was a no show and could not be reached by phone. After a brief stop at home, I went back out to the Mary S. Robert's spay/neuter clinic. We had two male dogs, 2 female dogs, one male cat and one female cat scheduled there. When I arrived at 9:15am, I was greeted by the companion of the dog that was supposed to meet me earlier at the other clinic. He got the clinics mixed up so I sent him to the right one. The companion with the two cats showed up first and then the companion of one of the male dog's was next. We got all of their paperwork turned in and then I received a call from DAS telling me it was too late for them to spay the dog that had an appointment there. I pretty much begged them to to take her and explained that this female and her companion live in a river bottom encampment and I had no idea when I could get them back there. I tried calling a few staff members, including the director, hoping to get the dog in. Later I found out that they did in fact take her in. I was so grateful. While all of this was happening, I was waiting for the companion to show up with his three dogs. He was originally scheduled for last week but had to move to this week, due to the clinic not having a doctor to do the surgeries. He was supposed to be there at 9:15 and he texted me at that time to tell me he was on his way. I called and texted him every fifteen minutes until 10am but never got a response so I left. I was a few miles away when I was told he finally showed up so I turned around and drove back to the clinic. I took a few photos and then hurried home to get to my 11am zoom counseling appointment which I certainly needed at this point. I am having some oral surgery tomorrow but will do my best to get to the motel before my appointment. Three of the seven pets being spayed/neutered will be spending the next couple of nights there recuperating. The other pets had places they could begin recuperating that were indoors. "One by one we get them done, because the only way to combat pet overpopulation and euthanasia in our shelters is to spay and neuter"... Waters from Niagara Bottling Company, ARCO fuel cards, Inaba Churu Rolls, wet puppy food, small bag of puppy food, Inaba Churu Pops, wet kitten food, Inaba stew for cats, small bag of kitten food and a large can of KMR2 were shared.

Tuesday's Treasures 5-23-2023

When I left my house, I headed to the Salvation Army in downtown Riverside. I was looking for someone I saw there last week but she was not there today so I began driving to a river bottom outlet in an industrial area of Jurupa Valley. On my way, I saw a gentleman flying a sign near one of the traffic lights. He had a pug with him. I tried to get his attention but a car pulled up next to me and blocked him from my view. There was nobody at the location I went to so I headed back towards Fairmount Park. The gentleman with the pug was no longer on Market Street so I did not get a chance to speak to him but I did find two vans in one of the parking lots. There were people I knew with pets in them so I stopped. One of the companions was sleeping and I was not going to bother him but as soon as the dog spotted me he jump in the front seat and onto the guy's lap. He is not small lap dog so he succeeded in waking up companion in order to get treats and his bully stick. The dogs in the other van were wide awake so I visited with them too. It was not time to go back home yet so I drove out to Hunter Park. I met up with two dogs and their companion there. They are not homeless but I knew the woman and one of the dogs when they were. I always stop, if I see them. My final stop was up the street on Marlborough for two dogs and their companion. We had a visit and I distributed supplies, before I drove out to our PO Box in Jurupa Valley where I received a much needed box of sturdy collars and leashes from our friends at Max and Neo Dog Gear. In addition to my usual work routine, once I get back home, I also texted and/or called the spay and neuter appointments for tomorrow. I hope everyone makes it... Waters from Niagara Bottling Company, small dog collar and leash set, chicken jerky treats, Inaba Churu Rolls, Inaba Mega Churus, Inaba chicken fillets, Inaba Twins for dogs, wet dog food, kabob chew sticks and bully sticks were shared.

I was asked to meet some people with pets this morning so I headed to Massachusetts on the Eastside. I visited with five pets and distributed supplies, before heading across town to our storage units to pick up a few cases of water, pet food and treats. On my way there, I received a text from someone in the river bottom. He did not come up with his dog the last time I was in that area and was wondering when I might be able to mee tup with him. Due to the cost of fuel and our dwindling finances, I am trying not to drive to an area that has less than two or three pets present so I did not plan on meeting up with this gentleman. However, I realized I would be a few blocks away on my drive to our PO Box so I agreed to meet today. After our visit, I gave the companion some needed supplies and then continued on to our PO Box to pick up a couple of supply donations. The rest of my day was spent doing the usual return of calls, texts, emails, updating social media and scheduling spay/neuter appointments through the end of May... Waters from Niagara Bottling Company, medium dog collar, chicken jerky treats, Inaba Churu Rolls, Inaba Churus, Inaba Mega Churus, Inaba chicken fillets, Inaba Twins for dogs, wet dog food, 20 pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, wet puppy food, small bag of puppy food, small bag of senior dog food, kabob chew sticks and bully sticks were shared.

I did not get much sleep last night. I was considering taking the day off, because I did not have specific plans to meet with anyone. I was possibly going to storage to pick up waters and then go to Hunter Park to visit pets. I thought about staying home printing and framing photos as well as baking. I did do some baking but did not do anything else. I had a change in plans. I was going to go our to Pyrite Street in Jurupa Valley. I wasn't sure who I was looking for but someone contacted me about a homeless gentleman with a dog out there and the caller thought they could use my help. On my way there, I stopped by Agate Park to visit with a family and distribute supplies. When I did get out to Pyrite Street, I spotted a male dog and his companion by the freeway offramp. I drove to the next street so I could turn around and park near them. As it turned out, this was not the gentleman who was looking for help but he did have an unaltered dog. He said he never alters his pets but I gave him my card incase he ever changes his mind. We talked for awhile and I gave treats to his tail wagging dog. The companion was polite about not wanting to neuter so we did not argue about it. He knows how to reach me, if he changes his mind... Waters from Niagara Bottling Company, chicken jerky treats, Inaba Churu Rolls, Inaba Churus, Inaba Churu Bites, Inaba Chur Pops, Inaba stew for cats, Inaba Twins for cats, Inaba Twins for dogs, Inaba chicken fillets, wet dog food, bully sticks and a collapsible pet dish were shared.

Friday's Furry Friends 5-19-2023

I was unable to reach the companion of the dog recuperating at the Jurupa Valley Motel6 so I decided to go to the Eastside first and then drive out to the motel afterwards. As I was driving to the Path of Life Community Shelter, I noticed a woman pushing her dog in a granny cart and realized I knew them. She had actually called me yesterday telling me the dog was missing so I was surprised to see them together. Thankfully, the dog was only missing for a couple of hours and was with someone the companion actually knew. We visited and I distributed supplies, before calling the companion of a puppy I had been looking for. He happened to be right down the street so we agreed to meet in the Smart and Final Parking Lot. There was an added bonus when another gentleman arrived too and had the sister of the puppy I was there for. I spent time with them and then made my way to Massachusetts Avenue where I visited with and distributed supplies for seven more dogs. While I was doing all of this, I was also in contact with the gentleman at the motel with the dog I wanted to check on. I told him I would be there by 10:30am. I made one more quick stop to exchange supplies with someone and then got on the freeway so I could get to the motel on time. I was able to make it and the dog seemed to be recuperating nicely from her recent spay day. When I left the motel, I checked the PO Box and made made my way home. I spent the rest of the day answering calls, texts, emails, doing our social media and scheduling spay and neuter appointments. I am still trying to decided if we will need to take a few weeks off from spaying and neutering in June, in order to try and raise money. I will update when I figure that out... I had planned to start my day at the Jurupa Valley Motel6 but that did not happen, because there dog I was going to check on was not there. Her companion did not get to the spay/neuter clinic on time so she spent the night there. This is part of the reason I normally ask people not to check in before they pick up their pets. I do not like paying for a room, that is not being used to begin spay/neuter recuperation. I am hoping to go check on her tomorrow. I did stop at Riverside County Animal Services this morning to see if the dog's companion might be there picking her up but he had not arrived yet so I drove out to our storage units. I picked up supplies, dropped off baked goods at Riverside Temple Beth El and drove towards the Eastside. I was not going to go to the homeless shelter or parks but I did want to visit a dog that is staying with her companion at the Budget Inn. The dog has been ill and I was concerned about her. On my way. I happened upon 'Solo' and his companion so I stopped for them first. After visiting both dogs, I drove out to Center Street. They are about to close part of the street to widen the road but the van I was looking for was there so I got to visit with two dogs. I went home after that, because I was supposed to meet someone at 11am. I plan go to the Motel 6 early tomorrow and then head over to the Eastside. I told a couple of people I would be there so I am hoping they show up... The MSRPAC clinic had to cancel all of our appointments today and reschedule for next week but we still had two scheduled for the clinic at the Riverside County Department of Animal Services. One of them was from a gentleman who was a no show a year or so ago but he was there today with his female lab/pit mix. The other was for a female cat who was abandoned in the river bottom. A woman we have provided many services for took her in. The cat had a litter of kittens about seven weeks ago. She is just a baby herself and gave birth to seven. One of them did not make it but the other six are alive and well. The person caring for them had three dogs and seven cats of her own. We have spayed and neutered all of them and she brought me the mama kitty to spay today. I was concerned about this family and reached out to Gail Anderson at Room8 Memorial Foundation. For a long time, I have avoided asking for her help. I know she gets asked so often but I still took a chance today. She agreed to take the family, if we would help with spay/neuter appointments. I told her I would be happy to do that. There will be no more litters from this family, thanks to Taking It To The Streets with Lori and Shira and Room 8 Memorial Foundation. We may have only provided 'the works' for two pets today but between our work and the rescue, we will have prevented so many pets that would have added to pet overpopulation in the homeless community and our community at large. Thank You again Gail and Room8!"One by one we get them done, because the only way to combat pet overpopulation and euthanasia in our shelters is to spay and neuter"... I made arrangements to meet some people and their pets at one of the river bottom outlets in an industrial area of Jurupa Valley so that was my first stop. When I got there, only one person showed up with her dog so I was unable to provide supplies for the other pets. While I was there, someone who needed cat food drove up. I told her I would meet her at Fairmount Park when I was done and I went there next. When I pulled into one of the parking lots, I found someone I had been looking for. She was there with her three dogs so we visited and I distributed needed supplies before going over to do the same for two cats, a dog and their companion. When I left the park, I drove through Rubidoux again hoping to find someone I have not seen. I came across a gentleman with two dogs who I spoke to a few days ago but he had not seen her either. I had a little time before I had to get back home so I used it to run a couple of errands. Mary S Roberts is not doing any spay/neuter surgeries this week, due to the vet getting injured. I had to cancel and reschedule all six appointments I had made so now I just have the two at the Riverside County Department of Animal Services spay/neuter clinic. Once again, I am grateful due to our financial situation but sorry that surgeries had to be put off. Sometimes it winds up resulting in unwanted pregnancies and that is beyond frustrating. We really need more spay/neuter clinics in this our city and this state. Things will never change if we can't get animals taken care of in a timely manner... At 9am, I met Cindy and Seth Cox at our storage units. They volunteered for us many times in the past and were kind enough to drive out to the Rescue Food Bank in Loma Linda and pick up our supplies. When we were done unloading (and talking), I contacted the companion of two dogs who lived in the river bottom for many years. This past year, they got an apartment and I try to stop for a visit now and then. They don't live too far from our storage units so I drove over to see them. When I left that location, I drove out to Hunter Park for a little dog named 'Ulani' and then out to Colton for dog named 'Chewbacca'. It was beginning to heat up and I was running out of time for visits so I just went to our PO Box and then home. Tomorrow I will be taking the day off so I can spend part of it with my children and granddaughter. My daughter has to work in the afternoon but I am happy for whatever time we can all spend together. I will be back to my daily travels on Monday... Friday's Furry Friends 5-12-2023

For the past few years, I have gone to the Eastside every Monday and Friday. I have spent time on Massachusetts Avenue with people and pets staying on the street or in the shelter. If there was time, I would also drive around and go to a few of the local parks. With the recent 'clearing' of the homeless on Massachusetts, I have found myself driving all the way over there without visiting any pets or just visiting one. I told the people with pets who are staying in the homeless shelters that they need to call me a day or two prior to them wanting to meet and I want to be sure there will be at least two pets needing supplies. Fuel is too expensive for me to continue driving that far for one pet, unless there is some type of emergency... Yesterday, I was asked to bring kitten, cat and dog food to a couple of people in the river bottom but we could not seem to connect. I told them I would be willing to meet this morning. We met at a river bottom outlet around Colton/Rialto. After I visited the pets and distributed supplies, I drove to Fairmount Park via some back roads that the homeless sometimes park/camp but I did not find anyone with pets anywhere I drove, including the Rubidoux area. I had about thirty minutes left, before I had to get to an appointment so I headed home for a few minutes and then went back out... Thursday's Treasures 5-11-2023

It was not my intention to only visit one pet today, but that is what happened... Yesterday, I noticed that the left rear aspirator grill in my GM Terrain had somehow come off and disappeared. Nobody sits in the back seat so I am not sure how it happened and it wasn't something major but I still wanted it replaced. I made plans to go to Dutton Motors and get that done, this morning. Before doing that. I was going to the Jurupa Valley Motel6 to check on the puppy that was neutered yesterday and then I was going to drive to one of the river bottom outlets to meet someone with dog food. I did go to the motel but was unable to touch base with the person needing the dog food. He was waiting to give someone a ride and could not make it back in time so I am hoping to meet tomorrow. I thought about driving around after I left Dutton Motors but I still needed to check the PO Box and stop at the store and I did not have time for daily travels too. I also placed a call to the companion of the dog we were having cremated. I wanted to see how she was doing but she did not answer her phone... Waters from Niagara Bottling Company, chicken jerky treats, kabob chew stick and peanut butter chew stick were shared.

#1936 & #1937 Get 'The Works' & Other Furry Friends 5-10-2023

When all was said and done, we provided 'the works' for one male kitty and one male puppy. However, that was not the initial plan... One of the people I was scheduled to help has four female dogs. I confirmed all of the appointments with her yesterday afternoon. I can only do two female dogs at each of the clinics so we agreed to do two of them at one place and two at the other. She was supposed to meet me at 7:45 for the first two and then 9:15 for the second two. At 7:25, as I was on my way out the door, she texted and said her vehicle would not start and she would have to reschedule because she did not have a plan in place incase this happened. I have a long list of people waiting for female dogs to get done but I could not reach any of them and it would most likely not have worked out anyway on such short notice. Financially, I am a bit relieved but I rushed around all morning for nothing and four appointments that are so hard to come by are wasted. Not the way I wanted to start my day....When I got to the spay/neuter clinic, things took another turn. We only had two of the three cats I was expecting and one of them had a respiratory infection and needed antibiotics so he could not be neutered. The puppy had no issues and neither did the other cat so they were able to get checked in. The person who brought the cats also had two very tiny kittens that she is trying to save. Unfortunately, one of the two passed away on her drive to meet me. I gave her more KMR1 for the other baby and hope it makes it. The person who rode with her had a dog with him that he was bringing for flea/tick treatment and vaccination updates. He was neutered when we originally met but needed medical attention. I connected his companion with Feeding Pets of The Homeless and they took care of it. I continued to visit him but had not seen him in quite some time. After the morning I was having it was especially nice to see his smiling face and wagging tail. After both pets were checked in for 'the works', I headed over to storage. I had a couple of people meeting me there to get some excess supplies we don't need and I was also meeting Christine Langdon. She went to Star Milling and picked up our monthly donation of pet food, delivered it and helped unload. She also brought a donation of jerky treats and Taco Bell gift cards. Thanks Christine! The rest of my afternoon was spent organizing the pets on a waiting list for spay/neuter, answering texts, calls, emails and doing our updating our social media. "One by one we get them done, because the only way to combat pet overpopulation and euthanasia in our shelters is to spay and neuter"... Waters from Niagara Bottling Company, ARCO fuel cards, can of KMR1, 17 pound bag of cat food from the Star Milling Company, wet puppy food, small bag of dog food, Inaba Churu Twins for dogs, Inaba Churu Rolls, Inaba Churu Pops, Inaba Churus, chicken jerky treats, small collar, small leash, Inflatable e-collar and a dog toy were shared.

Tuesday's Treasures 5-9-2023

My first stop of the day was at a river bottom outlet in an industrial area of Jurupa Valley. Unfortunately, two of the people did not bother to show up and the third was getting cat food so she did not have a pet with her. When I left that location, I was going to stop at the Salvation Army and somewhere on Main Street but decided to drive through Fairmount Park on the way. I did find one person at the park but he was asleep in his van so I continued on to the Salvation Army. There were two people with dogs there and one of them was also taking care of a baby opossum. I spent some time visiting the dogs and distributing supplies, before driving up Main Street. I could not find the woman with pets in her broken down van so I decided to take one more drive through the park. The gentleman in the van was still asleep. His window was open so I parked and woke him up. I had a feeling he might need dog food and would not mind the intrusion. I was planning on making one last stop in Rubidoux but the pet and companion I was looking for were not in any of the places they usually go. I continued driving to our PO Box and then headed home. While I was calling to confirm tomorrow's spay/neuter appointments, I was told that one of the dog's was actually shot by the police early this morning. I just met the dog this week end at the park. The entire incident is confusing to me but after reaching out to an AC Officer, I found out the dog had extensive injuries and was euthanized at the shelter. I am currently working on trying to get his body back so we can have him cremated for his owner. It willhopefully all work out tomorrow. This dog was all she had left and she is devastated... Waters from Niagara Bottling Company, body wipes, hand and toe warmers, 17 pound bag of cat food from the Star Milling Company, 20 pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, wet kitten food, Inaba Churu Twins for dogs, wet dog food, Inaba Churu Rolls, Inaba Churus, chicken jerky treats, kabob chew sticks and bully sticks were shared.

Monday On The Move 5-8-2023

I am still trying to figure out a new plan for Mondays and Fridays. I am considering continuing going to the Eastside but may not go to Massachusetts unless I am asked to bring supplies. There are a few people with dogs in the kennel there but only one was outside when I arrived. As much as I love visiting her, I am not sure I want to drive over there twice a week for the one pet. I will have to see how things go moving forward. This morning after I left Massachusetts, I drove to Hunter Park. I was told some of the pets I was looking for might be there. Unfortunately, that was not the case but I did run into someone who used to be homeless and was walking her two dogs. I parked for a bit and spent some time with them, before driving out of the parking lot on to Marlborough Avenue. Two dogs and their companion were in a truck with the door open so I knew they were awake. I had an opportunity to visit and distribute needed supplies. When I was on my way to the park, I noticed a few people with pets under the overpass on Chicago and I thought one of them was a dog I knew. I decided to drive that way and take a better look. I knew all of the people and pets but just stopped for the one that has already had 'the works'. I visited with her and gave her companion supplies, before heading back home for a zoom meeting... Waters from Niagara Bottling Company, body wipes, small bags of dog food, Inaba Churu Twins for dogs, wet dog food, Inaba Churu Rolls, Inaba Churus, chicken jerky treats, peanut butter chew sticks and bully sticks were shared.

Saturday's Smiles 5-6-2023

I made arrangements to meet up with pets and their companions at a couple of different locations this morning. The first was at a river bottom outlet off of Grand and Rubidoux. Two people showed up and there were a total of three dogs. When I left that location, I drove through the old Pine Center on my way to Fairmount Park, but nobody was there with pets. I was scheduled to meet someone near the tennis courts at the park. I was early so I drove around to see if there was anyone else there with pets. I found someone in one of the parking lots with her three pets so I parked. I visited with two of the pets and distributed supplies, before parking near the tennis courts. Nobody showed up there so I took one more drive around the park. As I was ready to exit, I saw a woman walking with her german shepherd and asked if she was there for me. She was and I spent some time with them. The dog is on the calendar for 'the works' this Wednesday and I wanted to meet him first. I wasn't sure if I was going to make one last stop but when I did not get a text message from the person I was considering going to meet, I decided to go home after a quick stop at the grocery store. I plan to take the day off tomorrow but will be back to my daily travels on Monday... Waters from Niagara Bottling Company, body wipes, hand warmers, led collar light, doggie waste bags with leash clip, Tiller Tugs leash, 2-20 pound bags of dog food from the Star Milling Company, Inaba Churu Twins for dogs, wet dog food, wet cat food, Inaba Churu Rolls, Inaba Churu Pops, Inaba chicken fillets, chicken jerky treats, kabob chew sticks, bully slices, bully sticks and a squeaky Kong ball were shared.

Friday's Furry Friends 5-5-2023

On May 2nd, all of the homeless were cleared from Massachusetts Avenue. Some went into the shelter, some checked themselves into a motel room and some were put in motel rooms. I have no idea where everyone else went but will try to figure that out over the next few weeks. When I drove to Massachusetts this morning I only visited with one pet and that was 'Suzy'. When I left that location, I drove over to the Budget Inn, because I was told 'Luna', 'Trouble' and their companion had a room. I wanted to drop off a couple of supplies for the puppy and visit with both dogs. I was able to do that and I also stopped in to see 'Baby' and her companion again. As I was leaving the motel, it started raining again. It was a very light rain but I really did not feel like being out in it. I did drive past one more spot looking for 'Solo' and his companion but they weren't there. I went to the nearest freeway onramp and drove across town to pick up an order that was waiting for me and then I headed home. On my way there, I did make one final stop at our PO Box. I was so grateful to find donation packages from Amazon and Chewy as well as a check from the Non-Profit Ruff- Redlands Unleashed Fidos and Friends. It was nice to end today's time on the streets with needed donations... Waters from Niagara Bottling Company, puppy pads, pet carrier, small collar and leash set, small plush squeaky toy, small stainless steel pet dish, Inaba Churu Twins for dogs, Inaba Churu Rolls, Inaba chicken fillets, chicken jerky treats, kabob chew sticks, bully slices and bully sticks were shared.

Thursday's Treasures 5-4-2023

It was pouring down rain, when I left the house this morning so I was grateful that my first stop was at the Jurupa Valley Motel6. I was there to check on one of the pets that received 'the works' yesterday. He was recuperating nicely and was very happy to get treats and a bully stick. When I left that location, I drove across town to the Budget Inn on the Eastside. I went there to speak to someone who has a sick pet and to bring supplies for her and another dog. While I was there, someone came out of a room with a dog that looked familiar. It turned out to be one I had met many years ago when her companion was out on Van Buren Avenue with a line of shopping carts and a number of dogs. The remaining dog is an overweight senior that was having trouble walking but she continued to wag her tail and enjoy a few treats. I still had enough time to run an errand when we were done so I took care of that and then headed home. The rain was stop and go so I decided to wait and go to our PO Box tomorrow. I know there are a few packages waiting for us and I would rather get them when the sun is shining... Waters from Niagara Bottling Company, body wipes, pet jacket, Inaba Churu Twins for dogs, 2-20 pound bags of dog food from the Star Milling Company, wet dog food, Inaba Churu Rolls, Inaba chicken fillets, Inaba tuna fillets, small bag of dog food, chicken jerky treats, kabob chew sticks and bully sticks were shared.

#1928,29,30,31,32,33,34 & #1935 Get 'The Works' 5-3-2023

Our first two appointments this morning were being done at the Riverside County Department of Animal Services spay/neuter clinic. We did not get off to the best start due to the person arriving late, the puppies getting car sick in the carrier and one of them pooping in there. I had to leave at 8:30 but the paperwork was ready and they were getting checked in. These two were part of a 'project' I have had going, trying to help someone who was in over his head. It all started a few weeks ago when we began spaying and neutering two mama dogs, one papa dog and ten puppies from two litters that actually produced a total of 16. We spayed the mamas and neutered the male that got each of them pregnant. We neutered the three remaining puppies from one of the litters and three puppies from the litter of seven. There were two females and one male done. Today, the plan was to spay the four remaining female puppies from the litter of seven. That would bring us to a total of 13 and mean that no future litters would be born in the river bottom to any of these dogs...When I left DAS, I took care of something I needed done and then headed back out to the Mary S. Roberts spay/neuter clinic. I was scheduled to meet four different people there with pets. Three of them showed up but one did not. Thankfully, I told the person bringing cats to bring one additional female just incase so she did. Because of that, I did not have to waste any appointments. I did wait an hour for the no-show but I was not going to give it more time than that. About an hour after I left, I got a text saying they had trouble with their bicycles. I told them I would reschedule, if they guaranteed they would make it to that appointment. Busy day and I am hoping we get some donations to help cover the cost. "One by one we get them done, because the only way to combat pet overpopulation and euthanasia in our shelters is to spay and neuter"... Waters from Niagara Bottling Company, ARCO fuel cards, body wipes, wet cat food, wet kitten food, Inaba Churu Pops, Inaba Churu Twins for cats, 17 pound bag of cat food from the Star Milling Company and a large bag of puppy food were shared.

Tuesday's Treasures 5-2-2023

May 2nd was the day there was going to be a big 'clean-up' on the Eastside. All of the tents that were lining Massachusetts were coming down and the people were going to be relocated. There are three shelters off of Hulen Place and some of the homeless were going to get beds. I was told some might be going to motels and there was a question as to where the rest would be. Before I headed that way, I stopped to meet with a woman whose van is broken down off of Market Street. She has three dogs and one of them had an eye issue. I had no idea what might be going on with that so I suggested she call Feeding Pets of The Homeless. When I left that location, I drove over to Center Street to visit with two pet and distribute needed supplies. I drove through Reid Park and Hunter Park but did not find anyone with pets so I proceeded to Massachusetts Avenue. There was caution tape across both ends of the street with police officers and vehicles blocking each entrance. It took me awhile but one of the officers finally lifted the tape so I could go park at the Access Center. It was pretty chaotic. Everyone with warrants was taken to jail and some of the pets were picked up by Animal Control. Trash and whatever else was left all over the street was being removed. I will go back on Friday and check things out again. Hopefully some of the people in the shelter that have pets will come out while I am there... Waters from Niagara Bottling Company, body wipes, hand and toe warmers, 20 pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, small bag of dog food, wet puppy food, small stainless steel pet dish, Inaba Twins for dogs, Inaba Churu Rolls, Inaba chicken fillets, Inaba tuna fillets, chicken jerky treats, kabob chew sticks, bully slices and plush squeaky toys were shared.

Yesterday, I went to meet someone from Inaba at our storage units and then I took the rest of the day off to cook. This morning, I had an appointment at the Loma Linda School of Implant Dentistry, code enforcement issued notices for everyone to get off Massachusetts Avenue and it was raining so I was not sure what I was going to be able to accomplish on the streets. I still decided to head over to the Eastside and when I arrived on Massachusetts Avenue, all of the tents were still up. I visited with six pets and distributed needed supplies but because I needed to get to my appointment in Loma Linda, I had to cut my time short. I told a few people that I would look for them on Friday. I did not get the best news from the dental implant center at the Loma Linda School of Dentistry and will need to have some oral surgery done, before I can even start other dental work that I need. It is all going to be timely and expensive but I am doing my best to keep my teeth, crowns and dental implants as long as possible. The money is an issue but I have to believe it will all work out... Waters from Niagara Bottling Company, fleece blanket, Inaba Twins for dogs, Inaba Churu Rolls, Inaba chicken fillets, chicken jerky treats, bully sticks, kabob chew sticks, bully slices and plush squeaky toys were shared.
