Thursday's Treasures 6-29-2023

My first stop of the day was at the Motel6. I went to check on 'Mr.Stain'. He was recuperating nicely and I even had an opportunity to visit with 'Mazi'. Next, I was supposed to meet the companion of the kitten that recently received surgery for a relapsed rectum. We were going to begin her vaccinations. On my way, I stopped behind the Speedway gas station on Van Buren to find out how a dog named 'Chevy' was doing. He recently received surgery for an injury and had foxtails removed from his ears. Both he and the kitten received those emergency services thanks to Feeding Pets of the Homeless. The dog was asleep in his companion's van but I met someone else with a dog that needs medical attention for an issue inside of his mouth. I told his companion that I would come back after I was done with the kitten's vaccinations. I went to the clinic and texted the kitten's companion that I was there. She texted me back that she was sick to her stomach all night and would not be able to make it. I did not appreciate her waiting to tell me once I was already at the clinic but there was nothing I could do. I just know it is important for the kitty to start her vaccinations, especially because she is in the river bottom. When I left the clinic I went back to where I stopped earlier. The dog I wanted to visit was awake and I left a message with Feeding Pets of the Homeless for the dog that needs medical attention. I made one more quick stop at our PO Box and headed home. Even with our financial issues, the clinic closing briefly for surgeries and then doing male dogs but no females and not being able to use the county clinic this week, we still managed to provide 'the works' for 16 pets. We did this for 10 dogs and 6 cats. There were 3 female dogs, 2 female cats, 7 male dogs and 4 male cats... Waters from Niagara Bottling Company, McDonald's gift card, Inaba Churu Rolls, Inaba Mega Churus, wet dog food, wet puppy food, small bag of puppy food, 20 pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, chicken jerky treats, kabob chew sticks and bully sticks were shared.

The Riverside County Department of Animal Services is not providing us with our two surgeries per week today or July 5th, due to other things they have going on there. The Mary S. Roberts Pet Adoption Center spay/neuter clinic has allowed me to keep my weekly appointments with the exclusion of female dogs. I am really trying to cut back our surgery numbers right now anyway, due to our finances so this has been ok for us. That being said, we had a total of 6 pets getting 'the works' today. Two male puppies, three male kittens and one female kitten. The four kitties needed double tested in addition to the usual services and one of the puppies had to be re-tested for Parvo to make sure he was cleared for surgery now. The testing adds additional expenses to what we normally provide but when it is necessary we have it done. Spaying/Neutering is our number one priority but when possible we need to be sure the pets are healthy enough for the surgery. Thank You to Actors and Others for Animals for the pledge that helped lower our cost for their surgeries. "One by One we get them done, because the only way to combat pet overpopulation and euthanasia in our shelters is to spay and neuter." ARCO fuel cards, inflatable e-collar and baked good were shared.

Tuesday's Treasures 6-27-2023

I drove to the downtown Salvation Army on my way to my first stop but there were no people with pets so I continued to Keats Drive. The person with the three dogs I was looking for was there and so was another dog with his companion. That gentleman bought doughnuts and was passing them out to his homeless friends which I though was very nice. He offered me one too but my waistline has been growing and I knew I did not need to be eating any of them. That gentleman also told me about a woman in the river bottom who needed food for her dog. She doesn't have a working phone so he drove close to where she stays and walked down to get her. We met near the American Legion at Fairmount Park and I was able to visit with the dog and give her needed supplies. When I left the park, I drove around Rubidoux looking for a couple of people who were camped in a field with their pets. I would assume code enforcement made them move, because they haven't been there for a few days. I did not have any success finding them but will look again the next time I am in the area. I decided to go straight home after that to catch up on emails and a few other things, before going to meet my friend Pamela Locatell for lunch... Waters from Niagara Bottling Company, large bag of recyclables, collapsible pet dish with leash clip, Inaba Churu Rolls, Inaba Mega Churus, Inaba chicken fillets, Inaba Churu Bites, wet dog food, 20 pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, chicken jerky treats, kabob chew sticks, bully sticks and squeaky tennis ball were shared.

I drove to the Eastside this morning and visited with pets staying in the kennels at the Path of Life Community Shelter as well as those staying on the streets. I only spent about an hour there, because I was ironing out details for 'Chance' (the deaf puppy), trying to catch up with people who wanted spay/neuter appointments and then get to a personal appointment I had at 11am... Waters from Niagara Bottling Company, dog harness, Inaba Churu Rolls, Inaba Churu Bites, wet dog food, 20 pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, chicken jerky treats, kabob chew sticks and bully sticks were shared.

Sunday On The Streets 6-25-2023

I have been dealing with looking for rescue for the deaf puppy as well as rescue for a mama rottweiler that was dumped pregnant in the river bottom and had a large litter. I am not in the habit of looking for rescue, because the people we provide services for want to keep their pets. When the situation arises where rescue is needed, it always seems so overwhelming and once again I give so much credit to the rescues who do that work day in and day out... As I was getting ready to leave the house today, my daughter called me on her way to work. She spotted two doberman's running up Market Street near Fairmount Park and asked if I would go look for them. I had to stop at North Park first to drop off food and supplies for three pets but I started looking as soon as we were done. I drove up and down the streets in the area and all around the park. I asked a few people if they saw the dogs but nobody did. I was disappointed but nothing more I could do. I did make one stop at the park though. I saw a familiar van and knew the dog would be happy for a visit. His companion was out of fuel but he did still have dog food so I just kept the treats coming. Before I left, I filled a bag with supplies and gave the dog a big bully stick. The rest of my day was spent doing the usual things I have to do for my charity with the addition of trying to secure rescue for the dogs I mentioned earlier... Waters from Niagara Bottling Company, Inaba Churu Rolls, Inaba Churu Bites, Inaba Mega Churus, Inaba chicken fillets, wet dog food, 20 pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, chicken jerky treats, kabob chew sticks and bully sticks were shared.

Saturday's Smiles 6-24-2023

I spent the early hours of my morning baking cookies and then went out a few hours later. My only stop was at a river bottom outlet in the Riverside/Colton/Bloomington area. I was there to meet the puppy I did not get to see yesterday, check on the kitten that had surgery for a prolapsed anus and bring pet supplies for a number of cats and dogs. I did not spend time with all of the pets I brought supplies for but did visit with seven of them. When I left that location I headed home making a quick stop first at our PO Box. I was very thankful to find a donation check there from the Riverside Sunrise Rotary Club. They have supported our work for many years and their donation will go towards spaying and neutering... Waters from Niagara Bottling Company, ARCO fuel card, body wipes, small dog collar, Inaba Churu Rolls, Inaba chicken fillets, small bag of dog food, wet dog food, wet puppy food, wet kitten food, Inaba chicken stew for cats, Inaba Twins for cats, 2-20 pound bags of dog food from the Star Milling Company, 17 pound bag of cat food from the Star Milling Company, chicken jerky treats, kabob chew sticks and bully sticks were shared.

Friday's Furry Friends 6-23-2023

Instead of going to the Eastside first thing this morning, I went straight to Colton to check on the deaf puppy, take some photos and do a video clip. I was very upset to find that the woman I had been making plan with let someone take the puppy to his encampment in the river bottom so he was not where we agreed to meet. To make matters worse, the puppy was e gentleman who had the puppy walks to a job and took the puppy with him so there was no way to see him. I don't think the puppy was being permanently given away but I do know that area of the river bottom is no place for a deaf puppy. I plan to try again tomorrow but I am just so frustrated that my time and fuel were wasted and the little guy is being held like I asked... When I left Colton, I drove to the Path of Life Community Shelter on the Eastside. I met with six pets and their companions. One of the pets, a chihuahua puppy, just got to there with his companion. We spoke about services for him and I directed her to the clinic for his first set of vaccinations. After visiting the pets and distributing supplies, I dropped off a bag of baked goods for someone drove across town to our storage units and picked up supplies... Waters from Niagara Bottling Company, doggie waste bags, Inaba Churu Rolls, Inaba chicken fillets, small bag of dog food, 20 pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, wet dog food, wet puppy food, chicken jerky treats, kabob chew sticks and bully sticks were shared.

Thursday's Treasures 6-22-2023

I received a call from the companion of a dog that was injured. We supplied 'the works' back in December so I knew of the dog but was not sure if the two of them were still living in their vehicle. The companion contacted 'Feeding Pets Of The Homeless' and then they asked me to verify his homelessness. He said he was staying where we used to meet so I agreed to go there at 9am. I did see one van on the street and the door was open but the people in it were sleeping. I tried calling out but nobody answered. I could not reach anyone by phone either so I left. I drove out to the Jurupa Valley Motel6 and checked on the three dogs that received 'the works' yesterday. They were recuperating nicely, although the female was quite grumpy! After leaving the motel, I received a call from the gentleman who I could not reach this morning. Turns out that was him and a friend asleep in the van. I can't believe they did not hear me or the constant ringing from my phone calls but they did not so I agreed to drive back over there. I verified the living situation and saw the dog's injury. I spoke to someone at 'Feeding Pets Of The Homeless' and if all goes well, the dog will get a vet exam in the very near future. I did not have time to go anywhere else but home for a few minutes and then to an 11am nail appointment. The rest of my work was done in the afternoon. That included phone calls, emails, text messages, photo and video editing, scheduling spay/neuter appointments and social media... Waters from Niagara Bottling Company, body wipes, Inaba Churu Rolls, Inaba Mega Churus, 20 pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, wet dog food, chicken jerky treats, kabob chew sticks and bully sticks were shared.

#1955, 56, 57, 58 & #1959 Get 'The Works' 6-21-2023

I started my morning at the Riverside County Department of Animal Services. We had appointments to provide 'the works' for one female dog and one male dog. Their companion arrived early and we were able to get the dogs checked in a little after 8am. It looks like our timing was perfect, because the female was in heat! I went home from there to give my dog a potty break and put home made baked goods in my vehicle for Gail Anderson with Room 8 Memorial Cat Foundation as well as Dr. Pope, staff and volunteers at the MSRPAC spay/neuter clinic. Gail was kind enough to not only take in a mama we provided 'the works' for but she also took in her litter of seven. Normally, I spay/neuter first but she wanted them to be safe and healthy. I try not to call on her too often, because I know so many others do but I am always grateful when she is able to help. I also dropped off some other items for Room 8 and picked up the two kittens that were getting spayed/neutered, tested and micro chipped. I took them to the MSRPAC spay/neuter clinic where I was also meeting someone with a dog. When everything was ready to go for the three pets, I drove out to our storage units to pick up more pet food and waters. My final stop was at our PO Box where I picked up a pair of pet nail trimmers that were just donated. "One by one we get them done, because the only way to combat pet overpopulation and euthanasia in our shelters is to spay and neuter"... Waters from Niagara Bottling Company, ARCO fuel cards, Inaba Churu Pops, Inaba Churu Rolls, Inaba Mega Churus and bully sticks were shared.

Tuesday's Treasures 6-20-2023

Before I even left the house this morning, I received another call from someone with a sick puppy. Once again, I had to explain that we provide spay/neuter services but do not provide emergency medical care. These calls are ongoing and have become a daily occurrence. All of the people who won't spay/neuter but then give/sell puppies that are unhealthy is so out of hand right now. My heart breaks for these kittens and puppies that are unable to receive the medical attention they need...Because I had a dental appointment today, I was only able to spend about ninety minutes doing my daily travels. I was asked to meet a few people at a river bottom outlet in an industrial area of Jurupa Valley. They needed supplies for a couple of dogs a group of cats. I visited with the two dogs and distributed supplies for all of the pets. From there I drove through Fairmount Park, the parking lot of the downtown Salvation Army and then to Fairgrounds Street. There were no people with pets at the first two locations and the person with pets at the last one was sleeping so I headed towards the dentist's office. I was driving up Mission, in Rubidoux, when I decided to stop and speak to someone who needs her puppy and kitten neutered. Unfortunately, she was not there but I visited with two other dogs that were in the same field. I went straight to the dentist from there... Waters from Niagara Bottling Company, LED collar lights, small stainless steel pet dish, squeaky pet toy,17 pound bag of cat food from the Star Milling Company, wet cat food, Inaba Twins for cats, Inaba chicken stew for cats, wet dog food, wet puppy food, small bag of dog food, small bag of puppy food, Inaba chicken fillets, Inaba Churu Pops, Inaba tuna fillets, Inaba Churu Rolls, Inaba Mega Churus, chicken jerky treats, kabob chew sticks, peanut butter chew sticks and bully sticks were shared.

I made three stops today and visited with five pets. My first stop was on the Eastside in the parking lot of the Path of Life Community Shelter. I visited with three pets there and distributed supplies. When I left there, I drove through Hunter Park and a couple other locations but did not find anyone with pets until I drove up University Avenue. I saw 'Solo' and his companion so I pulled into the nearest parking lot for a visit. My final stop was on Mission in Rubidoux where I stopped to visit 'Sammy' and ask how her companion's sister was doing. I am still working on my spay/neuter appointments for Wednesday. When I got home, I started reaching out to those who inquired. I also learned that 'Lotti' (the kitten with the collapsed anus) came through her surgery and was ready to go 'home'. I will post more when I learn more... Waters from Niagara Bottling Company, body wipes, Tiller Tugs tug toy, 20 pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, wet dog food, Inaba chicken fillets, Inaba Churu Rolls, Inaba Mega Churus, chicken jerky treats, kabob chew sticks and bully sticks were shared.

I only made one stop today and that was at one of the river bottom outlets off of Grand and Rubidoux. I thought I was meeting with four pets and their companions but one of the dogs had some type of repiratory thing going on so he did not come. I made a couple of calls to Van Buren Animal hospital to see how the kitten was doing but was unable to reach anyone. I was going to drive to one more location in Jurupa Valley but I needed to cook something for tomorrow and I wanted to do it before it got any warmer outside. It was already 78 degrees by 11am and I am trying not to turn the air on yet. I just made a quick stopto get fuel and then ran into the post office. I will resume my daily travels on Monday... Waters from Niagara Bottling Company, body wipes, small bag of dog food, 2-20 pound bags of dog food from the Star Milling Company, large box of Moist and Meaty dog food, wet dog food, Inaba chicken fillets, Inaba Churu Rolls, Inaba Churu Bites, Inaba Mega Churus, chicken jerky treats, kabob chew sticks and bully sticks were shared.

My morning began at Van Buren Animal Hospital. I was there with the companion of a kitten that Feeding Pets of The Homeless approved for an office visit. I thought she was found in the river bottom but she was actually found in a parking lot. She had a prolapsed rectum that was one of the worst I have ever seen. Necrosis had begun to set in and I was not sure what they could do for her. Strangely enough she has been a happy kitty, running around playing but things did not look good for her in the long run. She was too small to spay but she is getting surgery to take care of the main issue. Time will tell, whether or not the surgery is the success we are hoping for. While there, I also visited with her companion's dog. We already provided 'the works' for him awhile back and he is doing great. When I left Van Biren Animal Hospital, I drove out to the Eastside. The ElleVet Project had a medical van out there today to help with vaccinations and other small health issues. They ran out of rabies vaccinations pretty soon into things and they did not do nail trims but a few pets were able to get what they needed as well as referrals. I met with some old furry friends and some new ones. I visited with 11 pets and distributed supplies for thirteen or so. When we were finished, I drove to our PO Box in Jurupa Valley and then went home. A few people want to set up spay/neuter appointments and I am hoping we can assist each of them... Waters from Niagara Bottling Company, collapsible pet dish, small bag of kitten food, wet kitten food, cat toy, wet puppy food, 20 pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, Small bags of dog food, wet dog food, Inaba chicken fillets, Inaba Churu Pops, Inaba Churu Rolls, Inaba Churu Bites, Inaba Mega Churus, Max and Neo fleece blanket, chicken jerky treats, kabob chew sticks and bully sticks were shared.

Thursday's Treasures 6-15-2023

Three of the four pets that were spayed/neutered yesterday spent last night and will spend tonight at the Jurupa Valley Motel6. The fourth pet spent the night in a home so I just got an update by phone. My first stop of the day was at the motel. I checked on the three pets and distributed supplies. When I left that location, I drove out to Colton. I was called about a very sick puppy that was out there and I was going to give them the number to Pets Of The Homeless. Unfortunately, the puppy did not make it but there was a new dog at that location. This dog lived with someone who died from Fentanyl poisoning. The little guy was very skittish and would not take a treat out of my hand but did eat those I threw in his direction. He needs 'the works' and I am hoping we can get that done next week. The three other dogs that were there were very happy to follow me around and eat every treat I handed them. I spent time with those three, distributed supplies and then headed toward the 60 freeway onramp so I could then jump on to the 91 and go to our storage units. I picked up more pet food, stopped at our PO Box and went to the store to get produce for my desert tortoise. I am also coordinating help for some who has a kitten with a prolapsed rectum. We are not sure if it is male or female but Feeding Pets Of The Homeless approved a vet visit and we will provide the spay or neuter... Waters from Niagara Bottling Company, small bag of puppy food, wet puppy food, 20 pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, peanut butter chew sticks, bully sticks, Inaba chicken fillets, Inaba Churu Rolls, Inaba Churu Bites, small leash and medium harness were shared.

#1951, 52, 53 and #1954 Get 'The Works' 6-14-2023

When I left the house this morning, I was stressed over an incident that happened with a couple of baby birds. I texted a friend, my daughter and an AC Officer trying to figure out what I should do to help these little ones. In the mean time, I went to the spay/neuter clinic at the Riverside County Department of Animal Services. I was providing 'the works' for two dogs that stay in the kennel at the Path of Life Community Shelter. At 8am, their companion had not arrived so I tried to call her. I thought maybe she went to the wrong place. She was unable to get the dogs out of the kennel on time and then she got lost. I called MSRPAC to see if she had gone there and I even drove all around looking but had no success. She showed up at the facility about twenty minutes later and we were able to get her dogs checked in for surgery. I was still trying to figure out how to help the birds but when I returned home, they were gone. I am hoping they were able to fly away. I did not stay home too long, before setting out to meet two more companions at the Mary S. Robert's spay/neuter clinic. One of them was early and the other was late but both were checked in a little after 10am. And I was able to take care of some things I needed to do for myself. Thanks Again to 'Actors For Animals' for the pledge that helped lower our cost for the second two spay/neuter surgeries. "One by one we get them done, because the only way to combat pet overpopulation and euthanasia in our shelters is to spay and neuter."... Last night, my daughter came over to do some laundry and wound up spending the night. I still did my 'daily travels' today but was home in time to make us lunch and hang out for a bit, before she had to go to work... My morning started at Fairmount Park. Next stop was on First Street by the Salvation Army. From there, I went to Fairgrounds Street and then my last stop was on Mission Blvd. in Rubidoux. I visited six pets and distributed supplies for each of them. My last stop was to visit a dog but also so that I could speak to her companion about a family member who is in the hospital with a very large cancerous tumor. I was wondering if there was any news but all I found out is that she is going to be moved to a facility in Los Angeles, once a bed opens up. When I left that location, I went to get fuel, checked our PO Box and headed home... Nobody asked for assistance yesterday and because it was drizzling most of the morning I took the day off to do some things around the house. It was back to 'normal' today. I received an early morning text from someone at one of the shelters who needed dog food so my first stop was on the Eastside in the parking lot of the Access Center. When I arrived, that person was not outside so I texted. While waiting for a response, I met with a couple other people whose pets are going to receive 'the works' on Wednesday. I tried texting a second time but still got no response so I left. My next stop was off of Chicago. I needed to speak to someone there. I visited two dogs and gave her the phone number to 'Feeding Pets of The Homeless'. My final stop was on Marlborough near Hunter Park. I visited three pets at that location and distributed needed supplies. I did not have time to go anywhere else, because I needed to stop at my house before meeting Christine Langdon at our storage units to unload our monthly donation of pet food... Saturday's Smiles 6-10-2023

There are a few people with pets that I meet at one of the river bottom outlets off of Grand and Rubidoux Avenue. One of them contacted me for dog food and said a couple other people needed some too. We agreed on a time but when I got there, he was the only one waiting with his dog. I don't like driving too far, unless there will be at least two or three dogs at a location but I was already there so I provided the requested supplies. When I left that location, I drove by the old Pine Center. I was told someone I have been looking for was in that area. She was not where I originally looked but she was up the street. I was finally able to give her a one year license tag from when we spayed her dog back in March. I drove through Fairmount Park next but did not find anyone with pets. Yesterday, I missed a dog I was going to visit on the Eastside so I drove to the parking lot where I saw her last. As I was pulling in, I noticed a gentleman 'flying a sign' for dog food by the entrance to the lot. I recognized him and his pet so I stopped for them first. The gentleman is pretty much deaf and lost his hearing aids so communication was not easy but I think I gave him the supplies he needed. I went to the back of the lot to visit the other dog and her companion, when we were done. I gave them a few supplies. Before I left. My final stop was on Mission in Rubidoux. I was there to visit a pet and to find out if her companion had any news to share about her sister who is now hospitalized with stage four cancer. She had not been able to get to the hospital and I was unable to learn anything either. I will check back next week. On my way home, I stopped a tour PO Box looking for a package that was supposed to be delivered days ago. It was not there. Hopefully, the donor can get a trace put on it. Thankfully, this is not something that happens often... I was contacted by one of the companions staying at the Path of Life Community Shelter, regarding food for her dog. I agreed to meet her this morning so my first stop was in the parking lot there. I was also told that a carrier I leant to someone would be on top of the kennels next to the shelter but it was not there. I am not sure if someone borrowed it or stole it but the carrier was gone. I was able to visit with the dog and provide supplies as well as do the same for a puppy I am hoping to spay soon. While I was there, I was also given a cash donation by one of the homeless whose pet I have provided services for over the years. This gentleman received a settlement and wanted to give me something to say 'thank you' for what we have done for his pet. He is waiting on housing so I am not sure how much longer I will be able to visit with that pet but it was very kind of him to give the donation. When I left that location, I drove up Chicago Avenue looking for someone I thought I saw last week when I did not have time to stop. He was not there with his pet but there were a couple of other people there with theirs. We had a visit, I provided supplies and one woman was able to use our newly donated nail clippers to cut a few of her dog's nails. My final stop was by University and Victoria where I visited 'Solo' and his companion. Before driving home, I got fuel and picked up something at our PO Box... Waters from Niagara Bottling Company, small bag of dog food, small bag of puppy food, wet puppy food, wet dog food, Inaba Twins for dogs, 2-20 pound bags of dog food from the Star Milling Company, small stainless steel pet dish, large stainless steel pet dish, collapsible pet dish. 2 large leashes, Inaba Churu Rolls, Inaba Churu Bites, chicken jerky treats, Inaba chicken fillets, squeaky King balls, plush squeaky toy, bully sticks and kabob chew sticks were shared.

My first stop of the day was at the Jurupa Valley Motel6 where I went to check on 'Jax'. We provided him with 'the works' yesterday and he was doing great this morning. After our visit, I got on the 60 freeway ramp and headed to Fairmount Park. I was supposed to meet a couple of people there. One of the companions was a no show again but the other arrived on time. I was able to visit with the dog and distribute needed supplies. When I left that location, I went home to give my dog a potty break and then went to my nail appointment. When I left there, I drove over to the Riverside County Department of Animal Services to pick up paperwork and receipts for spay/neuter services and licenses. It was not the most productive day but I did get a couple more pets scheduled for 'the works'. We only did one pet this week so I planned to do three next week. Mary S Robert's clinic told me I could being three small pets in for spay/neuter surgery. We received a donation yesterday that would cover the five surgeries if we are able to fill all of the available appointments. At this point in time, I have four lined up but I can never be sure who will actually show up... Waters from Niagara Bottling Company, Taco Bell gift card, small bag of dog food, wet dog food, Inaba Twins for dogs, Inaba Churu Rolls, Inaba Churu Bites, chicken jerky treats, peanut butter chew stick and kabob chew sticks were shared.

#1950 Get 'The Works' 6-7-2023

I have shared that we will most likely be keeping our spay and neuter appointments to two a week, until our finances improve. I know we had one grant approved but not sure when that money will come in. With Mary S. Robert's not having a doctor to do surgeries this week, it was easier for me to turn people down, because I would not be able to do more even if we had the funds. However, I there were six possible pets in need to fill today's appointments. I told everyone, I would give the appointments to the first two people who confirmed. I was so disappointed when we only had one do that but I always say "one is better than none." Today's neuter brought our total to date to the #1950. We keep getting closer to two thousand. That is a number I never imagined reaching when we did our first two in August of 2012. "One by one we get them done, because the only way to combat pet overpopulation and euthanasia in our shelters is to spay and neuter"... ARCO fuel card, small Tiller Tugs tug toy and small collar & leash set were shared.

I was contacted by someone who missed me the other day when I was in Colton. He was in need of dog food. I normally don't drive that far for one dog but I knew there were others nearby so I was willing to go out there. I had a one hour appointment this morning so that meant I would be getting off to a later than usual start. The time worked out fine for the gentleman in need of supplies so I met with him and his dog first. I was given some bad news too. A beautiful puppy we provided with 'the works' died of parvo. His companion never brought the puppy back for the remainder of his puppy shots. I am not sure exactly how old he was but believe it was between six and eight months. When I was done with 'Chewy', I went down the street to visit the three dogs that were there. I was greeted by a fourth dog I had not seen in a very long time. He used to run from me, if I tried to give him treats, but he stood with the pack of 'tail waggers' and was eating with the rest of them. I had planned to make a final stop in Rubidoux so that is where I headed next. On my way, I called someone I had not been able to reach for a couple of weeks. She answered today and I learned she is in a motel waiting on her housing. I am so excited for her and 'Ulani' to be indoors while they wait for their permanent housing. I hope to catch up with them this week-end. When I go to Rubidoux, I not only found who I was looking for but also ran into 'Spud' and his companion. I had been asking around but nobody knew where they were so I was happy to find them. The little dog was pretty happy too! Sadly, the gentleman was diagnosed with stomach cancer and not feeling well. In addition, I got more bad news about someone else. Two sisters who lived in the river bottom for many years had to leave when the levy project began. One of them was in the homeless shelter and got housing recently. She had two dogs. The other has one dog and she is the one I was stopping for. I found out that the sister who got housing is in the hospital with stage four cancer. I was told she is dying. So many years living in the river bottom and she got diagnosed now that she and her pets are indoors. Heartbreaking... Monday On The Move 6-5-2023

I had an 11am appointment to go back to the Loma Linda School of Dentistry for suture removal. It usually takes me about thirty minutes to get there. If nobody asked me for assistance, I was not going to do my daily travels and just go to the appointment. However, I was contacted this morning so I said I could meet but only for an hour. It was chilly and slightly drizzling so I would not have wanted to stay out too long anyway. I was able to visit seven pets and distribute supplies for them. When we were done, I drove to Loma Linda. They did not take out all the sutures but did take out most of them. I was told things are healing nicely but they needed to leave some of the sutures in for another two weeks. It is still a little uncomfortable but not painful. My dentist in Riverside will remove the sutures when she starts replacing a couple of crowns. I will be grateful when all of this is done. I have had so much dental work done over the years but I am not a fan!... Waters from Niagara Bottling Company, Inaba Churu Rolls, Mega Churus, Inaba Churus, Inaba Churu Pops, Inaba chicken fillets, Inaba Twins for dogs, 3-small bags of dog food, wet dog food, chicken jerky treats, dehydrated cheese treats, peanut butter chew sticks, kabob chew sticks and bully sticks were shared.

Sunday On The Streets' 5-4-2023

My plans for this morning were to meet a couple, get my trap back and visit with their three dogs. I met the couple back when I started Taking It To The Streets with Lori and Shira. We provided 'the works' for the pets they had and distributed supplies when we visited. Over the years, some of the pets have passed away and they have gotten others. Approximately eight years ago, they moved indoors. They are local so we stay in touch. They don't bring their cats when we meet but do bring the three small dogs. Tails are always wagging and one of the dogs has a high pitched whining sound that he makes as soon as he sees me. No matter what my day is like, they definitely make me smile. I was snot asked to meet with anyone else but I did visit three dogs that were nearby. I went to our storage units, after both visits so I could drop off the trap and pick up a few things. Tomorrow, I have an appointment to get the sutures removed from last week's oral surgery. I am not sure if I will be doing my daily travels. It all depends on whether or not anyone contacts me and how much time I have... Waters from Niagara Bottling Company, Inaba Churu Rolls, Mega Churus, Inaba Churus, Inaba Churu Pops, wet dog food, Inaba chicken stew for cats, 2-17 pound bags of cat food from the Star Milling Company, chicken jerky treats, dehydrated cheese treats, peanut butter chew sticks and bully sticks were shared.

When I was contacted by a gentleman who wanted to get his puppy neutered I told him I would do it this Wednesday but that I wanted to meet first. I like to see the pets before they go in for surgery just to make sure there are no obvious concerns like their size, age or health issues. I was not asked to meet with anyone else so I arranged to meet around 10am, after I did some baking and ran a couple of errands. The puppy was adorable and I wrote down the information needed to make the appointment. I also gave them supplies, because I think this person is going to keep his appointment. If I am proven wrong, I will deal with it later. When we were done, I drove up the street to visit with three other pets in the area and discuss other pets that might need spay/neuter services. While I was there, I received a text message regarding a Grant. It is one of the few we have gotten over the years that was still taking applications and it looks like we will be getting it. It doesn't make up for the thousands we are losing due to the others that have closed down but it gives me hope. There just have to be other resources out there for us. We have not been able to find any and I know we cannot survive without them. I would like to keep believing that this work is still needed and that I am far from done... Waters from Niagara Bottling Company, Repel natural bug repellant, small dog bed, double dog dish, Inaba Churu Rolls, Mega Churus, Inaba Churu Bites, Inaba Churus, Inaba Twins for dogs, wet dog food, wet puppy food, 2 small bags of puppy food, chicken jerky treats, dehydrated cheese treats, peanut butter chew sticks, bully sticks, kabob chew sticks, Kong squeaky balls and small Kong squeaky balls were shared.

Friday's Furry Friends 6-2-2023

I was not contacted by anyone,, staying at the homeless shelters so I was unsure if I was going to go to the Eastside today. I began the morning at Fairmount Park where I met up with three pets and their companions. After our visit and distribution of supplies, I went back home to grab something I had forgotten earlier. While there, I tried calling a motel room in order to speak to the companion of a dog I did not get to check on yesterday. We made contact and I headed to the motel. The motel is close to the 60 freeway onramp so I decided to go to the Eastside after all. I was hoping to find the companions of two puppies who asked me if we could provide 'the works' this week. I only have the two appointments and I am not saving them for anyone who has not actually called me to do the scheduling. These gentleman said they would call Monday afternoon but I heard nothing and wanted to give them a chance to still get the appointments but I could not find them. Hopefully, a couple of people who called for appointments when we were full will call back. We cannot financially afford more than two spay/neuter appointments but we also cannot afford to let appointments go to waste. I guess time will tell. While on the Eastside, I drove through Hunter Park and then stopped to visit with a family that was parked on Marlborough. After visiting those two dogs and distributing supplies, I drove to our PO Box, picked up my mail order eye drops from Kaiser and then went home... Waters from Niagara Bottling Company, individual bags of potato chips, small dog bed, double dog dish, flea & tick treatments, Inaba Churu Rolls, Mega Churus, Inaba Churus, Inaba Twins for dogs, wet dog food, 20 pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, small bag of dog food, chicken jerky treats, dehydrated cheese treats, bully sticks and kabob chew sticks were shared.

Thursday's Treasures 6-1-2023

Our spay and neuter total for May was 22. We provided 'the works' for 8 female dogs, 6 male dogs, 5 female cats and 3 male cats. Until our financial situation improves, we will most likely only be able to do a maximum of 2 pets per week. We already stopped updated vaccinations and licenses so there is nothing else to cut back on other than spaying and neutering. One volunteer and I have tried to get fundraising help, business sponsorships and new Grants but nothing has panned out. My hope is that we can bring in enough to do the bare minimum for now and that things will improve... My first stop of the day was at the Jurupa Valley Motel6. Unfortunately, one of the people forgot I was coming so she and the dog were not there when I arrived. If I have time, I will try to get back there tomorrow. I did check on the second dog that received 'the works' and visited with another dog there too as well as shared needed supplies. I was contacted yesterday by someone in dire need of dog food. I told her I would make a special trip to meet this morning and asked her to text at 9zm so I could give her a specific time. I heard nothing from her and she did not answer my call or text. I decided to take a drive over to Fairmount Park, just incase they were there and I made a stop in Jurupa Valley to visit a dog named 'EZ' while I was on my way. The woman was not at the park but I did run into 'Scam', 'Joey' and their companion so I was able to visit with them for a second time this week. When I left the park, I ran into the grocery store to get produce for my tortoise, checked our PO Box and called it a day... Waters from Niagara Bottling Company, individual bags of potato chips, small collar, small leash, flea & tick treatment, Inaba Churu Rolls, Mega Churus, Inaba Churus, wet dog food, 20 pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, chicken jerky treats, bully sticks and kabob chew sticks were shared.
