#2153, #2154 and #2155 Get 'The Works' 7-31-2024

Although I still wasn't able to schedule any appointments at the Mary S. Robert's spay/neuter clinic, due to our finances, I did have three at the Riverside County Department of Animal Services. One of those was last minute so I was not able to email the appointment information ahead of time and another turned out to be a different dog than the original one that was scheduled but we were still able to make things work thanks to the great staff there. By 8:15am We had 2 female kittens and one female dog checked in for 'the works'. Thanks to the Riverside County Department of Animal Services Healthy Pet Zone Fund two of those pets cost will be covered and we will pay for the third. We are all caught up now and will hopefully be able to go back to doing one per week with that grant. Tonight, we have four motel rooms reserved thanks to our 'Summer On The Streets 2024' fundraiser. I hope everyone is able to make it. "One by one we get them done, because the only way to combat pet overpopulation and euthanasia in our shelters is to spay and neuter... Bottled waters, ARCO fuel cards, puppy training pads, wet kitten food, Wellness cat food, Inaba chicken stew, Inaba Churus, Inaba tuna fillets and a 17 pound bag of cat food from the Star Milling Company were shared.

Tuesday's Treasures 7-30-2024

Yesterday I made arrangements to meet a companion and four of her pets at a river bottom outlet in an industrial area of Jurupa Valley this morning. They were my first stop of the day. This family includes four dogs and a number of cats. I was able to visit with all of the dogs as well as provide supplies for them and the cats too. From there, I drove to Fairmount Park. I was going to meet with someone I did not have time to meet with yesterday. When I entered the park, I spotted 'Butch' and his companion so I pulled in to the nearest parking lot to visit with them first. When we were done, I drove to another area of the park to meet with a woman and her two dogs. We visited and I provided supplies. Soon after, I found the nearest freeway onramp and headed out to our storage units. I had to restock pet food, a variety of items from Inaba and bottled waters. I fit as much as I could in my vehicle and then made my way back home. I unloaded what I did not need for tomorrow and reloaded a few things I did. Tomorrow is spay/neuter day. I told Mary S. Robert's that we did not have funds to spay/neuter there this week but did schedule two/three pets for the spay/neuter clinic at the Riverside County Department of Animal Services. We still had two unused weeks of funds from the Healthy Pet Zone Fund and tomorrow should catch us up. Hoping we get more donations before it is time to make appointments for the following week... Bottled waters, Benadryl caplets, medium stainless steel pet dish, Max and Neo small dog collar, Max and Neo large dog collar, Inaba Churus, Inaba chicken fillets, Inaba tuna fillets, Inaba Churu Bites, Inaba Twins for dogs, Wellness cat food, wet dog food, 20 pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, 17 pound bag of cat food from the Star Milling Company, kabob chew sticks, buffalo tendons, bully slices, chicken jerky treats and Equisect bug repellent were shared.

Monday On The Move 7-29-2024

My visits this morning were in the parking lot at the Path of Life Community Shelter. I was asked to bring pet food and supplies. I also wanted to notify the companion of one of the dog's that a donation was made to get her dog groomed. While visiting, I spoke to someone with a puppy and we were trying to figure out how to make sure she gets 'the works'. When I left that location, I drove around the Eastside for a bit and checked a couple of areas in Rubidoux. I was unable to locate anyone else with pets. I got fuel, made stop at the grocery store and checked our PO Box, before heading home. I did not stay too long, because I had a lunch meeting with Erin Gettis who is the Director of Riverside County Animal Services. Three more months passed. I wanted to update her on how the Healthy Pet Zone Fund has been used and express my gratitude for how this is helping us while we struggle financially... Bottled waters, collapsible pet dish, Inaba Churus, Inaba chicken fillets, Inaba Churu Bites, Inaba churu Rolls, Inaba Twins for dogs, 20 pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, wet dog food, kabob chew sticks, buffalo tendons, bully slices, chicken jerky treats and a Tiller Tugs double squeaky tug toy were shared.

Sunday On The Streets 7-28-2024

I was hoping to see my granddaughter today but that did not work out so I decided to do my daily travels. The day did not turn out to be a very productive one but I made the effort just the same. I drove to a location in Riverside where I was going to offer a motel room to a gentleman with a dog but they were not there. I had told a few people staying in a motel on the west side that I would bring supplies so that is where I went next. I visited three pets and provided supplies for them as well as a few more, before heading back towards Jurupa Valley. I checked the Riverside location again but had no success and then drove around a few areas of Jurupa Valley. I had no luck there either. Even though it has not been triple digit temps for a few days, it still gets warm and many are trying to stay in cooler places with shade and/or nearby water. I figure it is better to go out and look then not go out at all, because I can never be sure if or when I will find people with pets. I was actually home around 11am which is a little early but it was good enough for today... Bottled waters, protein shakes, Inaba Churus, Inaba chicken fillets, Inaba Churu Bites, Inaba Fun Bites, Inaba Twins for dogs, wet dog food, wet puppy food, Wellness cat food, kabob chew sticks, bully sticks, buffalo tendons and chicken jerky treats were shared.

Saturday's Smiles 7-27-2024

When I went out to Grand Terrace last Saturday, almost everyone had cleared out. They received a 'No Trespassing' notice and most moved to various parts of the river bottom. One of the families has an RV and they parked it on the street. I wasn't sure if some of the people with pets might contact me or come up for supplies but none did. The RV was still there. They have two dogs and another gentleman has one. When I first arrived, two of the dogs were in the river bottom with one of the companion's but they came up soon after so I was able to visit and provide a few supplies. From there, I drove to Rubidoux looking for a couple of people who were interested in getting their pets spayed and neutered. I rode by a few places but had no success finding any of them so I headed out to an area around Agate Park in Jurupa Valley. I visited with pets and provided supplies, before heading to our PO Box. I was very thankful to find a donation check there from an organization that usually donates once a year. Without grants and donations I can neither offer spay/neuter services or purchase supplies so every dollar is appreciated... Bottled waters, protein shakes, Inaba chicken stew, Inaba Churus, Inaba chicken fillets, Inaba Twins for cats, Inaba Twins for dogs, small bag of adult dog food, small bag of small bites dog food, wet dog food, wet puppy food, Wellness cat food, kabob chew sticks, bully sticks, buffalo tendons and chicken jerky treats were shared.

Friday's Furry Friends 7-26-2024

I was asked to meet some people at the Path of Life Community Shelter this morning. When I was about a block away, I noticed a dog named 'Zeus' and his companion walking on Kansas Avenue so I pulled over for a visit. As I was pulling up to the Path of Life Community Shelter I saw a woman with a dog I had not met so I pulled over to visit with them. Her dog is already neutered but is in bad need of being groomed. I told her I would try to raise the funds for that and gave her supplies in the meantime. From there I moved my vehicle to the back of the shelter's parking lot where there was a little bit of shade. I visited with and provided supplies for two dogs and a cat while I was there. There was another person with two dogs that I was expecting to see and provide supplies for but he did not show. I took a drive through Rubidoux, on my way back to Jurupa Valley but did not find any of the people with pets that I was hoping to see. I needed a few items from the grocery store so I made a quick stop there, went home for a bit and then met a friend for lunch... Bottled waters, collapsible pet dish, small bag of senior dog food, small bag of adult dog food, Inaba Twins for dogs, cat toy, Wellness wet cat food, small bag of cat food, Inaba Juicy Bites, Inaba Fun Bites, Inaba Churus, Inaba Churu Bites, Inaba chicken fillets, kabob chew sticks, bully sticks and chicken jerky treats were shared.

Thursday's Treasures 7-25-2024

I spent most of my time this morning at the Jurupa Valley Motel6. I checked on the three dogs that received 'the works' yesterday, a dog that was staying in a room with two of those dogs and visited one of the pet's that was in a room last night, thanks to our 'Summer On The Streets 2024' fundraiser. One of the dog's that was spayed had some bleeding going on so I asked her companion to take her back in to have her checked out. It might be nothing but I wanted to be on the safe side. Three of the dogs I visited today were seniors and a reminder that I need to continue asking for donations of senior dog food. Seems I meet more and more seniors these days and I am thankful to see people keeping them alive and well. I know the proper food helps with that. When I left the motel, I did some driving around Jurupa Valley but did not find anyone with pets. I stopped at the post office, got fuel and then went home for a brief time, before going to meet two friends for lunch... Bottled waters, protein shakes, REPEL bug repellent, chicken jerky treats, Inaba Twins for dogs, wet dog food, Inaba Churu Bites, Inaba Fun Bites, Inaba chicken fillets, Max and Neo leash, small bag of Bil'Jac senior dog food, small bag of adult dog food, small bag of Purina senior dog food, kabob chew sticks, bully sticks, two small stainless steel pet bowls and 1 medium stainless steel pet bowl and one large stainless steel pet bowl were shared.

#2150, #2151 and #2152 Get 'The Works' 7-24-2024

Due to a lack of donations or grants for spaying and neutering, I was unable to do any spaying and neutering at a second facility today. However, due to the Healthy Pet Zone Fund at the Riverside County Department of Animal Services, I was able to provide 'the works' for three pets at that facility. What made me extra grateful was that all three showed up and on time! One of the people went to the wrong facility at first but she still made it by check in time. "One by one we get them done, because the only way to combat pet overpopulation and euthanasia in our shelters is to spay and neuter"... Bottled waters, protein shakes, ARCO fuel cards, Inaba Twins for dogs, 20 pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, Inaba Churu Bites, collapsible pet dish, small collar, small leash, medium collar and leash set, large collar and leash set and a plush squeaky toy were shared.

Tuesday's Treasures 7-23-2024

I received a text this morning asking if I might be able to meet at Fairmount Park. I had not yet decided if I was going there but because I was asked my mind was made up. We met next to the lake, in the back, near the legion. There was a place for me to park and plenty of shade for everyone. I visited with and provided supplies for five dogs. I had wanted to check a couple of places on Rubidoux but the road construction made that too timely to I headed to our PO Box. Nothing was waiting to be picked up but I did see some people with pets in the CircleK parking lot so I drove over there. Unfortunately, it was a gentleman who has three pit bulls that he continues to breed. I have offered many times to spay and neuter ad although he has claimed he will do it he never does and I am sure he has no intention of doing so. He drags the dogs around in the heat and he even had what looked like newborn puppies in a wagon. He is always panhandling by the Jack In The Box and people seem to keep giving him money. There is no incentive for him to do the right thing so he keeps doing what he wants. His dogs are so sweet and it breaks my hear that they are used like this. I keep hoping Animal Control will find a way to force him to spay and neuter but unless they get impounded I don't see it happening. He has been out there for years and shows no sign of stopping. I just keep my distance now so we don't get into an argument... Bottled waters, protein shakes, small bag of senior dog food, Equisect spray, k9 glucosamine chews, trolley tie out cable, wet dog food, Inaba Twins for dogs, 20 pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, Inaba Churus, Inaba chicken fillets, Inaba Churu Rolls, Inaba Churu Bites, bully slices, buffalo tendons, collagen sticks, Tiller Tugs squeaky tug toys and a Kong squeaky ball were shared.

Monday On The Move 7-22-2024

My first stop of the day was supposed to be in Rubidoux. It was for a companion with two dogs that I had scheduled for 'the work's this Wednesday. I made multiple attempts at calling and texting yesterday with no response. I went this morning anyway, just incase. Unfortunately, the woman was a no show so I canceled her appointments. When I left that location I drove to the parking lot of the Path of Life Community Shelter. I visited and provided supplies for one dog there, I also met with a family that doesn't live too far from there. They are housed but we still planned a visit so I could share a few things I had for their kitties and dogs. From there I went to another location on the Eastside. The companion of 'Solo' needed some dog food so I went to meet them before heading over to Fairmount Park. I did not find any of the people and pets I was looking for but did see someone I had not seen in a few months. I stayed for a visit, provided a few supplies and then left. There was so much construction going on both directions of Mission Blvd. in Rubidoux so the drive took much longer than usual but I did everything I needed to do, before making my way home... Bottled waters, protein shakes, KMR2, small bag of senior dog food, wet dog food, wet cat food, Inaba Twins for dogs, Inaba Churus, Inaba chicken fillets, Inaba Churu Rolls, Inaba Churu Bites, Inaba Small Bites, Inaba chicken stew, 17 pound bag of cat food from the Star Milling Company, kabob chew sticks and buffalo tendons were shared.

Saturday's Smiles 7-20-2024

My first stop of the day was in the parking lot of the Riverside County Department of Animal Services. I went there to meet someone who lives down the hill with her pets in the river bottom. It was the opposite direction of where I needed to go next but I knew it would be too hot for them to come up later in the morning. When I left that location, I drove out to Grand Terrace. I was not expecting to find what was going on there. There were no trespassing signs posted on the trees. All of the trailers and motor homes were either down in the river bottom or on the streets and the field was filled with all of the 'stuff' they could not carry. I was only able to visit with three dogs. There are usually a minimum of five to eight pets there. I was by myself and not willing to walk down to the river bottom to visit with the pets that moved. I will have to figure out how to make this new living situation work. The fact that the majority do not have phones or have phones that are rarely on, this will be a task. My next destination was Fairmount Park but I was unable to find anyone with pets there or when I drove through Rubidoux so I decided to go check out PO Box. I am grateful I did, because there were supply donations waiting for pick up. The boxes filled my back seat so I decided to take everything home and unpack instead of continuing to drive around looking for more people with pets. Tomorrow, I have to be at the Rescue Bank in Loma Linda, bright and early, go home briefly and then meet someone from Inaba at our storage units. I may or may not have time for daily travels due to it heating up earlier these days. I will have to see how it goes... Bottled waters, protein shakes, Body Armor drinks, toilet tissue, Flys Off, REPEL bug repellant, chicken jerky treats, Inaba twins for cats, wet cat food, wet kitten food, small bag of kitten food, 17 pound bag of cat food from the Star Milling Company, 2-20 bags of dog food from the Star Milling Company, wet dog food, collagen sticks wrapped in chicken, Inaba chicken fillets, Inaba Churus, Inaba Churu Bites, buffalo tendons and bully slices were shared.

Friday's Furry Friends 7-19-2024

Last night we had two rooms reserved, for four pets and their companions, thanks to our 'Summer On The Streets 2024' fundraiser. Because nobody has really been showing up with their pets at the Path of Life Community Shelter, I did not bother going there this morning but did go straight to the motel. I visited the rooms where the pets were staying and provided supplies. I was supposed to met someone else in the parking lot there as well. His dog needed food and a leash but he did not bother to show up or respond to my text messages so I did not wait around too long before getting on the freeway ad heading to Fairmount Park. Unfortunately, I did not find anyone with pets there or at multiple locations I checked in Rubidoux. I had an 11am appointment which did not give me much time to explore any other areas so I called it a day... Bottled waters, protein shakes, REPEL bug repellant, chicken jerky treats, wet dog food, small bag of small bites dog food, small bag of senior dog food, xl leash, small collar and leash set, bully slices and puppy training pads were shared.

Thursday's Treasures 7-18-2024

Last night, we rented six rooms at the Jurupa Valley Motel6. Five of those were for our 'Summer On The Streets 2024' online fundraiser and the other was for the dogs that received 'the works yesterday. I was able to check on both of those dogs and visit the others too. The two that were spayed and neutered were recuperating nicely. There was one of the dogs we had in a room that actually had a foxtail removed from her foot yesterday so the timing of the room was perfect. We would like to thank Feeding Pets Of The Homeless for covering her medical costs. I put her and her companion in a room for a second night so she could have a little more time to rest comfortably. After visiting all of the rooms and providing supplies, I went to our PO Box where I was very happy to find a much needed donation of small bags of senior dog food waiting for pick up. When I left that location, I made a quick stop at home and then went for my bi-weekly nail appointment. I don't really do much outside of work so it always feels nice to be able to treat myself to that... Bottled waters, protein shakes, REPEL bug repellant, chicken jerky treats, wet dog food, 20 pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, kabob chew sticks, bully stick, bully slices and buffalo tendons were shared.

#2,148 and #2,149 Get 'The Works' 7-17-2024

Due to a decrease in spay/neuter donations and a lack of grants, I decided to only spay and neuter three pets today. Two of those were a male and female that have the same companion. They showed up and were on time. The other was a dog I had scheduled last week but the companion canceled last minute when their ride did not show up. I decided to give them a second chance as long as they guaranteed me they would get the ride situation handled. I was promised they would but that turned out to be untrue. They did not bother to show or let me know why. The dog is a female and I really wanted to get her done as she is going into heat but I can't force people to be responsible. I hope they find another way to provide the dog with what she needs. Both pets were provide with 'the works' at the Riverside County Department of Animal Services spay/neuter clinic and those services were covered by the Healthy Pet Zone Fund. We are permitted one pet per week, as long as they are in certain areas of Riverside County. Lately, our pets had been from other areas so we actually accumulated what we had not used. I am not sure why we are having so many issues providing spay/neuter services lately but I will keep offering. "One by one we get them done, because the only way to combat pet overpopulation and euthanasia in our shelters is to spay and neuter"... Bottled waters, protein shakes, ARCO fuel card, small bag of small bites dog food, doggie waste bags with flashlight leash clip, small collar and leash set and plush squeaky toys were shared were shared.

Tuesday's Treasures 7-16-2024

On my way to visit a family that stays near Agate Park, in Jurupa Valley, I passed a gentleman walking with his two dogs. One of those we recently provided 'the works' for. I pulled into the nearest parking lot and waited for them to get there. They were not in need of dog food so I just gave them treats and a variety of chew sticks. From there I drove out to meet the family. I normally go on Sundays but I don't know if I will have time this week due to my needing to do a pick up at the Rescue Bank in Loma Linda and then on to meet someone from Inaba at our storage units. I did not see any of their cats today but did provide supplies for them too. When I left that location, I drove over to the Mary S Robert's spay/neuter clinic to see about getting the microchip number for a dog we neutered back in 2014. I could not recall the exact date to look through all of my files for it and they found it easily in their computerized files. I was then able to pass along the info to the person who needed it. My final stop was our PO Box where I was thankful to find a package waiting for pick up. Tomorrow is spay/neuter day. Due to finances and an appointment I have, we are only doing three and they will be at the Riverside County Department of Animal Services. I reserved rooms for them to begin recuperating and I also reserved a few rooms for our 'Summer On The Streets 2024' online fundraiser. I won't know the exact number of people and pets, until they check in... Monday On The Move 7-15-2024

I feel like I wasted a lot of time and fuel this morning, because even with all the driving around I did, I only visited with two pets. I started on the Eastside at the Path of Life Community Shelter but nobody came out with their pets. I did a bit of driving around other areas of the Eastside but did not see anyone there either so I headed to Fairmount Park. As I was visiting with one pet, I noticed a truck in a shaded spot in the parking lot and there was a dog in the back. The gentleman walked over and as it turned out, we had provided that dog with 'the works' awhile back. When I was finished visiting and providing supplies for the first dog, I moved my vehicle closer to where the truck was. They were out of dog food and even though the companion has some work here and there, he was out of dog food. I was able to provide him with that as well as other supplies. When I left the park, I drove across town to our storage units to pick up more pet food and waters. On my way home from there, I drove around a few locations in Riverside and Jurupa Valley but did not come across any other people with pets. I made one last stop at our PO Box and went home... Bottled waters, sleeping bag, collapsible pet dish, chicken jerky treats, 20 pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, wet dog food, Inaba Churu Bites, Inaba Inaba chicken fillets, collagen sticks with chicken wrap, plush squeaky dog toy, Kong squeaky ball and a Tiller Tugs leash were shared.

Sunday On The Streets 7-14-2024

Some of the people who used to be in the river bottom, or on the streets, are awaiting housing in motels. Two of those motels are on the west side of town and I was asked to bring supplies for eight pets that are staying in the motels with their companions. I needed to pick up a few more produce items for my tortoise and decided to do that on the way home. While driving up Jurupa Avenue, I spotted a dog I had not seen in a couple of months. I did not recognize the car he was next to but I was sure it was the dog so I drove over to where he was. He was definitely the dog I thought he was and his companion was putting air in the tires of their vehicle. I no longer had the ball shooter someone sent me for this dog but I did have a ball so after he ate a few treats, we played for a bit. It was already heating up but that did not stop this guy from wanting to chase the ball. I left the job of throwing it with his companion. I then drove to the store and back home... Bottled waters, Benadryl caplets, chicken jerky treats, individual bags of treats, small bag of small bites dog food, small bag of adult dog food, small bag of puppy food, wet puppy food, wet cat food, 17 pound bag of cat food from the Star Milling Company, 2-20 pound bags of dog food from the Star Milling Company, kabob chew sticks, water buffalo tails, buffalo tendons, Inaba Juicy Bites, Inaba Churus, Inaba Twins for cats, Inaba Churu Bites, Inaba chicken fillets, bully sticks, cat toys, two plush squeaky dog toys, xl Kong squeaky ball, two regular sized Kong squeaky balls and a Tiller Tugs leash were shared.

Saturday's Smiles 7-13-2024

I spent most of my time in Grand Terrace, this morning. I made three stops on different parts of a street there, in order to visit with dogs from different encampments. Eight of the dogs were in one area and I met the other three, in two separate trips, towards the end of the block. I am never sure how many pets will be at this location, I meet a group in a front field but there are many camps up and down the river bottom and how many pets I visit depends on who all takes the walk to meet me. This morning there were a total of eleven dogs. It was a bit overwhelming but they all received treats and supplies. When I finally left there, I drove until I reached one of the 60 freeway onramps and headed to the Jurupa Valley Motel6. I had promised someone a bag of cat food, on Thursday, but forgot to load it into my vehicle. I made sure to do so today. From there it was our PO Box and the home... Bottled waters, chicken jerky treats, individual bags of treats, small bag of small bites dog food, small bag of puppy food, wet puppy food, small bag of senior dog food, wet cat food, 17 pound bag of cat food from the Star Milling Company, 2-20 pound bags of dog food from the Star Milling Company, kabob chew sticks, water buffalo tails, buffalo tendons, collagen sticks wrapped in chicken, Inaba Juicy Bites, Inaba Churus, Inaba chicken stew, Inaba Churu Bites, Inaba chicken fillets and a Kong squeaky ball were shared.

Friday's Furry Friends 7-12-2024

Yesterday, I received a call from someone I have not been able to find for quite some time. She was staying at the Path of Life Community Shelter, with her puppy, and we provided 'the works' for him then. However, after she left there, I have been unable to make contact with her so I was glad she called. Her growing puppy was in need of a Tiller Tugs collar and leash which I had ordered, before I lost track of them. It was nice being able to give it to them today and the pup's companion was very grateful. From there I drove over to the Path of Life Community Shelter on the Eastside. Nobody was outside with pets so I continued on to Hunter Park. I received a text from someone who lives in a van with her dog and she said they would be at the park so that is why I went there next. I woke them up but they were still ok for a visit. I still had time, before I needed to go to our storage units and meet Seth Cox who was delivering our monthly Star Milling pet food donation, so I drove over to University and Victoria. I usually visit 'Solo' and his companion there so I took a chance on finding them this morning. They were there and became my final stop, before going to unload the pet food and load my vehicle with other supplies. Thanks Again to Seth Cox for doing the pick up, delivery and helping to unload the 570 pounds of pet food and of course a Huge Thank You to the Star Milling Company for their monthly recurring donation! Bottled waters, chicken jerky treats, collapsible pet dish, Max and Neo large dog collar. Thursday's Treasures 7-11-2024

Last night, we paid for four more pets and their companions to sleep in a comfy air conditioned motel room, thanks to our 'Summer On The Streets 2024' online fundraiser. We have just one day left, before the fundraiser ends. At that time, I will post the total raised on and offline and let you know how many rooms we will be able to reserve this Summer…While I was at the motel visiting the pets we had in the rooms to get relief from the heat, I also checked on one of the dogs that was neutered yesterday. He seemed to be recuperating nicely. When I left the motel, I drove to a couple of areas in Rubidoux. One of the women I was looking for is at her mom's with her dog so they are temporarily out of the heat. The other people I was looking for were not around but I will keep checking. I want to offer more motel rooms to people with pets as well as offer spay/neuter to those who have yet to do so. After driving through Rubidoux, I took a drive through Fairmount Park with no luck there either. I will be going to the Eastside tomorrow and will do another drive through the park then, as long as time permits. I also did some driving around a few areas of Jurupa Valley but nobody was out with their pets. I guess that was a good thing, considering how warm it was already... Bottled waters, chicken jerky treats, 20 pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, wet dog food, Inaba Churu Bites, Inaba chicken fillets, buffalo tendons, kabob chew sticks, buffalo tendons and bully sticks were shared.

#2145, #2146 and #2147 Get 'The Works' 7-10-2024

Spaying and Neutering is my number one priority and one of the most difficult things to get accomplished for a multitude of reasons. We had a total of five pets scheduled today. The first three were at the Riverside County Department of Animal Services spay/neuter clinic. At 7:30, which is the time people are asked to arrive, I received a text that one of the female dog's was not going to make it. Even though they confirmed the appointment last night, their ride did not show and they had no back up. There was another female dog scheduled. We actually had he scheduled twice before. She lives with someone in the river bottom below Animal Services. The first no show was because someone took the dog for a walk and did not bring her back on time. The second no show was because the person had her phone on silent and did not hear her alarm. Today, it was all about the actual owner of the dog deciding he was not going to let this woman get his dog spayed. She showed up at 8am, thirty minutes late, to tell me this. She said he would only allow it in his name. I said fine. She walked back to get him and the dog. He went inside his tent with the dog and told her he wasn't doing it. This dog has had multiple litters. He has taken care of none of them and the woman helping is the one who has been feeding her. I normally don't give anyone a third chance but I really did not want this dog to have yet one more litter down there. I guess I have to accept that I did my best and it is out of my hands. Thankfully, the gentleman who brought in the male dog did show up and was on time. Last week he brought two female dogs and was late but he made sure he was there when he was supposed to be today….When I left that location I went home for a brief time and then went back out to the Mary S. Robert's spay/neuter clinic. I wasn't even sure if I should go, being that I was unable to confirm the appointments yesterday and the phone number I had was not working. However, the phone was on today and I was able to reach them. Both dogs had some health issues so we had to pay extra expenses on them but they were still able to get done. They don't need a motel room, because they will be in a shelter where the dogs can stay in the room with them but I will be sure to check in with them by phone. I was disappointed that two female dogs did not get a spay day today but just grateful to provide 'the works' for the three pets….My mood was even more improved by being able to have lunch with my friend Pam Locatell. She is like family to me so I always enjoy spending time with her. "One by one we get them done, because the only way to combat pet overpopulation and euthanasia in our shelters is to spay and neuter"... Bottled waters, ARCO fuel card, collapsible pet dish, small pet bad, wet cat food, Inaba Churus, Inaba tuna fillet and Inaba Churu Bites were shared.

Tuesday's Treasures 7-09-2024

I took a detour on my way to Fairmount Park and dropped off some people and pet goodies that are going to the home of Ralph Torres who donates his time for our website. His wife works downtown so I left the bag there. After that was done, I headed to the park. I stopped in two different areas of the park and visited with and provided supplies for a total of four dogs. From there, I drove through Rubidoux and finally saw someone I have been looking for. His dog was supposed to get 'the works' tomorrow but he never got b ack to me with the information I needed to make the appointment. I put another pet in her place and I am glad I did, because he was not ready anyway. He had no ride and no working phone to stay in contact. I am hoping he takes care of that soon so we can get her on the calendar next week. We have been discussing this for a couple of years but never seem to make it happen. I just want it done, before the dog wind sup pregnant. I would also like to get them out of the heat for a couple of days, because it has been very difficult for the people and pets not to get overheated or dehydrated. When I left that location I drove home to check on something and then ran back out to run a couple of personal errands... Bottled waters, wet dog food, Inaba chicken fillets, Inaba Churu Bites, Inaba Churus, small bag of dog food, bubble blaster, x-large squeaky Kong ball, buffalo tendons, bully sticks, Tiller Tugs collar and Tiller Tugs leash were shared.

Monday On The Move 7-08-2024

I did a fair amount of driving around today but the only actual stop I made was at the Path of Life Community Shelter. I met two new dogs in need of 'the works', one dog that we recently provided 'the works' for and two other dogs that we provided that service for over the past few months. The new dogs are now scheduled for this coming Wednesday. All of the pets received treats and a variety of supplies. After being out for a couple of hours, I went home to make some calls and get a little bit of work done, before going to meet a friend for lunch. Overall, it was a great way to start the week... Bottled waters, small dog bed, small stainless steel pet dish, medium stainless steel pet dish, 2 small collar/leash sets, small bag of adult dog food, small bag of small bites dog food, chicken jerky treats, wet dog food, Inaba chicken stew, Inaba Twins for cats, Inaba Churu Bites, Inaba chicken fillets, kabob chew sticks and small squeaky Kong balls were shared.

Sunday On The Streets 7-07-2024

I made three stops today. The first was to meet someone from the river bottom near the Riverside County Department of Animal Services. We met in the far end of the parking lot. I visited with the dog, fit her with a harness (thanks Joan Quintero) and then provided supplies for the dog, kittens and cats. From there I went to the Jurupa Valley Motel 6 to visit with a dog and kitty I had not seen in a very long time. They were housed for awhile and are at the motel now while awaiting another place to be ready. When I left the motel, I drove to a side street by Agate Park to visit with a family there. I visited with two of their three cats and all four of the dogs. I also provided them with supplies. When I left that location, I made a quick stop to pick up more produce for my tortoise and then I headed home. It was already heating up but I made before we got out of the 80's... Bottled waters, large harness, ant proof pet dish, small bag of kitten food, chicken jerky treats, buffalo tails, bully sticks, wet puppy food, wet dog food, wet cat food, wet kitten food, Inaba chicken stew, Inaba Twins for cats, Inaba Churu Bites, Inaba Churus, Inaba Juicy Bites, Inaba Churu Pops, Inaba chicken fillets, kabob chew sticks and cat toys were shared.

Saturday's Smiles 7-06-2024

I went to two different locations today. The first was my usual stop in Grand Terrace. I visited with and provided supplies for the eight dogs that were there. My second stop was at Fairmount Park. I had a Tiller Tug collar and leash that was donated for a dog named 'Naughty' but had not been able to catch up with them. Yesterday, her companion contacted me and gave me a phone number so I was able to let him know I would see them this morning. The collar and leash fit her perfectly and I gave her a few other supplies too. When I left there, I headed home. My daughter's air went out in her apartment last night and it was sweltering in there. She texted me, early this morning, to ask if she could come over and nap for awhile . Of course I said yes. When I was done at my second stop, I went home to make some lunch for her to eat here or take with her to work this afternoon. To be honest, even if she was not at my house, I probably would have gone home anyway. I try to make sure I see as many pets as possible but I also try to limit my time in the heat. Two hours gave me enough time to do what I had to and not feel overheated or too tired when I was done. It's definitely a daily balancing act and makes me even more determined to try to give the homeless with their pets that one night motel room stay my fundraiser offers. It is not much but it is something... Bottled waters, Benadryl caplets, chicken jerky treats, bully beef collagen chew sticks wrapped in chicken, buffalo tails, buffalo tendons, wet dog food, Inaba chicken stew, 17 pound bag of cat food from the Star Milling Company, 20 pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, Inaba Churu Bites, Inaba chicken fillets, Tiller Tugs collar and Tiller Tugs leash were shared.

Fridays' Furry Friends 7-05-2024

Last night, we started using money sent for the fundraiser through PayPal, Venmo and Zelle. We had four rooms with a total of 8 pets….Before going to the motel, I went to meet someone at one of the river bottom outlets in an industrial area of Jurupa Valley. We spayed and neutered multiple dogs for her. One of her dogs is 'LuLu'. She is the pet that the MSRPAC found a foster for with her ten babies. Once the mama weaned the babies, we provided 'the works' for her and she went back to her companion. The puppies were put up for adoption at the center. Another of her dogs was attacked by a pack of dogs and Feeding Pets of The Homeless covered his medical expenses. I saw him today as well as two of his female siblings. Unfortunately, I did not get to visit 'LuLu' this time. We visited, I provided supplies and then headed out to the Motel6 in Jurupa Valley. Two of the people had already checked out so I was unable to visit with all eight pets but I did visit with two of them. They were definitely enjoying the comfortable bed and air conditioning as were their companions. After leaving the motel, I ran home to take care of my own dog and then went back out to get my nails done. Last night was very noisy but I am hoping tonight is more quiet... Bottled waters, chicken jerky treats, bully sticks, kabob chew sticks, pork chew sticks, beef collagen chew sticks, wet dog food, wet puppy food, Inaba chicken stew, 20 pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, Inaba Churu Bites, Inaba chicken fillets, Max and Neo dog leash, Max and Neo dog collar were shared.

Thursday's Treasures 7-04-2024

I did not have any plans for celebrating the 4th of July so it was 'business as usual'. I was happy when Wendy Kelly said she was free and offered to ride along…We went to the motel, to check on three of the pets that got 'the works' yesterday, and drove around Rubidoux and Fairmount Park. We visited one dog at the park. I also spent some time on the phone calling and texting people about motel rooms for tonight or a night in the near future. Tonight, we reserved four rooms that will be paid for with funds from our current fundraiser and I plan to go and visit them tomorrow. At the end of our travels, Wendy and I went to lunch. I dropped off leftover food to a gentleman sleeping by the CircleK and then I went home. Hoping for an uneventful night with the ever so loud fireworks that seem to have taken over these past few years... Bottled waters, chicken jerky treats, bully sticks, buffalo tendons, pork chew sticks, wet dog food, 20 pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, Inaba Churu Bites and Inaba chicken fillets were shared.

#2140, #2141, #2142, #2143 & #2144 Get 'The Works' 7-03-2024

When I received a text at 7am telling me a puppy I was supposed to spay has Parvo now, I knew today was going to be a little extra stressful. Her companion didn't even bother to notify me but, thankfully, the person who was supposed to do the driving did. I immediately began scrambling to find another pet to put in her place. It was not too likely on such short notice, except one of the other dogs I was spaying lives with a couple more that need spayed/neutered. I texted the companion and he said he would bring both females. We already had the male scheduled for next week but could not get him in today, because he has already eaten….I arrived at the Riverside County Department of Animal Services spay/neuter clinic at 7:30am ad one of the pets was already there with his companion. I was very grateful to find him there and on time especially because the gentleman with the two dogs was nearly thirty minutes late. One of the dogs he brought in is 'semi feral' and has never really been out of the fields where she stays so he had a really tough time getting her to cooperate but we eventually got both females checked in. I made it home with just enough time to let me dog out and then go to a second location where two female cats were getting 'the works'. Their companion was on time and everything seemed to go smoothly. "One by one we get them done, because the only way to combat petoverpopulation and euthanasia in our shelters is to spay and neuter"... Bottled waters, ARCO fuel cards, large bag of recyclables, Tiller Tugs leash, buffalo tendons, wetkitten food and a small bag of kitten food were shared.

Tuesday's Treasures 7-02-2024

I got up a little early to bake some cookies and still have time to make it to our storage units. I went out twice. The first time was to go across town and pick up supplies from storage. Once I got everything home, unloaded and then loaded what I needed today, I went back out for a second time. My first stop was in Rubidoux but when I got out of my vehicle I realized the dog was unattended. I thought her companion might be around the corner getting his carts so I decided to go back there on my way home. My next stop was at Fairmount Park. I visited with a couple of pets and provided supplies for each of them. From there I drove back through Rubidoux. I was approaching a light when I saw someone I had not seen in weeks. He had asked me to spay his dog and then he was nowhere to be found. As soon I saw him and the dog, I knew I needed to pull in to the parking lot near them. The companion has an ID now so we discussed spaying the dog again and them going to the motel after her surgery. I am hoping he follows through. When I left that location, I went back to where I first stopped today but I did not see the dog or the person who is usually with her. I turned down the next street to make my way back to the Mission Avenue and I noticed a little encampment near a field. I had seen it before but never saw people. I saw a couple and a dog so I put my window down and asked if they needed anything. Turns out, I neutered the dog a couple of years ago. They now have a cat that needs spayed so we will work on getting that done. I did not make any other stops after that. I did go back out to have lunch with my daughter but my 'daily travels' were done... Bottled waters, collapsible pet dish with leash clip, chicken jerky treats, wet kitten food, wet cat food, wet dog food, small bag of kitten food, small bag of adult dog food, small bag of small bites dog food, Inaba Churus, Inaba Churu Bites, Inaba chicken fillets, Inaba chicken stew, Inaba twins for cats, small harness/leash set, cat toys, kabob chew sticks, buffalo tendons and bully sticks were shared.

Monday On The Move 7-01-2024

My first stop of the day was in the parking lot of the Path of Life Community Shelter. I visited with two dogs and provided supplies for the one that we recently spayed. From there I drove through Hunter Park and a couple of other locations on the Eastside. I wound stopping to visit with one over by University and Victoria, before heading to downtown Riverside. I was asked to go to the Riverside County Executive Offices, in order to receive a check. The money was from their department's Employee Campaign basket raffle. The funds were to be divided between three local charities and we were one of them. We met briefly and they presented me with a check for a little over $600.00. From there I drove out to our PO Box in Jurupa Valley. As I was leaving, I saw a gentleman I had been looking for. The last time we met, I had given his dog a collar but was waiting on a leash from Max and Neo. She got the leash today. While I was giving her treats and supplies, a racoon came over to the fence and was eating cat food someone left there. I wasn't sure if was going to try to get into my vehicle where there was a big selection of pet food and treats but it seemed content where it was. Years ago, the geese and ducks at Fairmount Park came running when they saw the rear hatch open on my vehicle so I pay close attention anytime animals are nearby. I am not afraid of them but I don't want them in my vehicle either. LOL... Bottled waters, chicken jerky treats, wet puppy food, wet dog food, collagen sticks wrapped in chicken, Max and Neo leash, Flys Off repellent, buffalo tendons, kabob chew sticks and a squeaky tennis ball were shared.
