I received a call, on Sunday, asking for dog food and told the companion that I would be able to bring her some today. I had to take my dog to the vet for a nail trim, and to pick up meds, but I went after we were done. I visited her dogs and provided supplies. From there I drove through Fairmount Park and the Salvation Army parking lot. I did not see anyone with pets at either place but decided to drive through the park one more time. When I did, I stopped for someone with two pets, in one of the parking lots. I noticed some people sitting at a picnic table with dogs so I drove to another parking lot and went over to visit them. One of the gentlemen wants his puppy spayed so I told him to call me. In the meantime, they all got treats and chew sticks. The companion of the dog that is neutered got dog food too. When I left the park, I drove out to Aldi to pick up a few things and then went home to get some laundry done as well as my usual desk work. Tomorrow is spay/neuter day. All are confirmed so I hope we get off to a good start. I have to take my dog back to the vet afterwards to have him checked out. The vet was not in yet, when I was there today for the nail trim and the meds, so I had to make an appointment for tomorrow... Bottled waters, hygiene kits, paw rub, pet tear stain wipes, chicken jerky treats, 2-20lb. bags of dog food from the Star Milling Company, Inaba Twins, buffalo tendons, kabob chew sticks and bully sticks were shared.
I deviated from my normal Monday visit to the kennels at the Path of Life Community Center and went out to meet a group in Colton, this morning. I spent time with six dogs there and provided them with supplies. When I left there, I headed across town to an appointment at Kaiser. When I was done, I headed home to have lunch and get started on my desk work... Bottled waters, paw rub, pet tear stain wipes, small harness, 2-Tiller Tugs leashes, chicken jerky treats, 3.5lb. bag of Pedigree for small dogs, 4-20lb. bags of dog food from the Star Milling Company, 13lb. bag od dog food, Inaba Twins, simply cesar chicken, wet dog food, Kong balls, buffalo tendons, kabob chew sticks and bully sticks were shared.
I recently got word that someone I used to provide services for, in the river bottom, was back in Riverside. She has helped me numerous times with people who needed their pets spayed/neutered and she makes sure every kitten/cat that she rescues down there gets spayed/neutered. We agreed to meet, this morning, in the parking lot of Riverside County Department of Animal Services. When I left that location, I drove out to Rubidoux to meet with a woman who has three small male dogs. She has been evicted from her 'spot' and has been turned down anywhere she might be able to afford to move. She loves her dogs and has been trying to find a way to hold on to the, but time is running out and she doesn't know what else to do. She will soon be living in her car and doesn't know how she can do that with the dogs, especially since she does have some sort of job she goes to. She asked if I could help and I said that I probably could not do much. I did offer to post photos and a video to see if there was any interest and I contacted one rescue. When I left Rubidoux, I drove out to our storage units to pick up pet food and waters. I headed home from there to spend the rest of the day as I usually do. While I was having my lunch, the rescue got back to me and said they would take the dogs, if someone could get them to Orange County. The companion has a vehicle so I asked her if she could drive them. She said she had work at 4pm but would call in, because this was so important. I feel sad that she is giving up her fur babies but grateful that a good rescue will help them find the right homes... Bottled waters, paw rub, chicken jerky treats,17lb. bag of cat food from the Star Milling Company, 2-20lb. bags of dog food from the Star Milling Company, Inaba Twins, wet cat food, Inaba Churus, plush squeaky dog toy, Kong balls, buffalo tendons and bully sticks were shared.
I spent the first part of the morning on the Eastside at the Path of Life Community shelter kennels. I visited with 10pets and provided supplies. While I was there, I placed a second call to the Ward1 City Council Office trying to help the shelter residents get assistance with their pets on the weekend. This was my second call and I was not very successful. Because I am not a 'client' they did not really want to deal with me so I gave the number to multiple clients and suggested they all call, until someone responded. As I was leaving a staff member told me they received an email relating to my phone calls. It started looking like things might get resolved. I will find out, when I return on Monday. When I left that location, I headed home for an 11am zoom meeting, had lunch and then got busy working at my desk. I am taking tomorrow of, in order to spend time with family and friends to celebrate another grandbaby on the way and the birthday of her sister. I will be back to my 'daily travels 'on Sunday and already have plans to meet up with a couple of people and their pets... Bottled waters, chicken jerky treats, individual bag of dog treats,17lb. bag of cat food from the Star Milling Company, 20lb. bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, wet dog food, simply cesar chicken Inaba Twins, wet cat food, Inaba meal toppers, Inaba Churus, kabob chew sticks and bully sticks were shared.
This morning, I went to the Jurupa Valley Motel6 to check on four of the pets that received 'the works' yesterday. I visited each one and they all seemed to be recuperating nicely. I provided a few supplies and then returned home for a bit. My old dog had a rough day yesterday so I wanted to make sure he was ok. He has allergies, kidney disease and a grade5 heart murmur. He has been coughing and whining more often but some days seem better than others. He is still running down the hall, when he comes inside after his potty breaks, so there is clearly more life left in him. I stayed home for a bit and then went to the nail salon for a fill. It was lunch time, when I got back home. I got to work, at my desk, as soon as I was done eating... Bottled waters, Premier protein shakes, handmade pet jackets, wet puppy food, chicken jerky treats, individual bags of dog treats, kabob chew sticks, buffalo tendons and bully sticks were shared.
We had six pets scheduled, and confirmed, for 'the works' today. There were five female dogs and one male cat. I received two text messages by 6:30am, telling me that people had started arriving with their pets, so we were off to a good start. Three of the pets were in the parking lot, when I arrived at 7am. Two more showed up shortly after and I received a text saying the sixth pet would be thirty minutes late. As it turned out, it was an hour late but all six pets were checked in. The best part of it was knowing what we got done for one family that was referred by Feeding Perris Strays. One of their volunteer's Maria started transporting dogs from this family to their appointments. There was a mama dog, her sister, a papa dog and nine litter mates for a total of twelve dogs. The puppies were nine and ten months old when we started to spay/neuter them. It seemed never ending but 'the end' was accomplished today. Because Maria was so diligent about transporting these pets, this family is done adding to pet overpopulation in the homeless community or our community at large. I am so grateful that we were a part of this and can't thank Riverside County Department of Animal Services enough for the services that were covered by the Healthy Pet Zone Fund. We started this month on a good note and ended it that way. We were able to provide 'the works' for 20 of the 24 pets we had scheduled. It wasn't a perfect month but it was still productive! "One by one we get them done, because the only way to combat pet overpopulation and euthanasia in our shelters is to spay and neuter." Bottled waters, ARCO fuel cards, small harness and leash set, 2-3.5 pound bags of Pedigree puppy food, wet puppy food, Inaba Twins, 20lb. bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, 13lb. bag of dog food, 17lb. bag of cat food from the Star Milling Company, wet cat food, plush squeaky dog toys, cat toys, buffalo tendon and collagen chew stick were shared.
My first stop today, was in the parking lot of Riverside County Department of Animal Services. A gentleman needing dog food had called yesterday afternoon but I had already gone back home so we decided to meet this morning. I didn't have any other plans so I did what I usually do when that happens and just drive around. I drove through Rubidoux looking for someone who is trying to rehome her three small dogs. I explained that I did not have anything definite for them but I decided I would take some photos and do a video clip to see if there was any interest. Unfortunately, I could not locate her, and she did not answer her phone, so that did not work out. I also drove through Fairmount Park, went to the Salvation Army and then looked in a couple of areas of Jurupa Calley with no success. I knew there was a donation package from Chewy, at our PO Box, so I went to get that. There was a monetary donation in our box too which I was also very grateful for. I feel bad when I go out for a couple of hours and can't find more than one pet but at least I know I made the effort. Tomorrow is spay/neuter day. All six appointments confirmed. It would be nice to end this month using all of tomorrow's appointments... Bottled waters, Inaba Twins, 20lb. bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, buffalo tendons, Kong ball and plush squeaky dog toy were shared.
Yesterday, I drove around for ninety minutes but did not see anyone with pets which is why I did not post anything. This morning, I headed to the Path of Life Community Shelter on the Eastside. I wasn't sure how many people with pets might be there. When I drove up Massachusetts there was quite a bit of construction going on and nowhere to park near the kennels. I drove back down the street to visit with a dog that was by her companion's truck. After our visit, I went back by the Path of Life Community Shelter and parked in the Access Center lot where the employees were today. I visited with three more dogs there and provided supplies. I also called Philip Falcone's office to discuss a situation that is taking place at the kennels. When I left that location, I drove back to Jurupa Valley and ran into the store to get some fruit. Somewhere along the way, I lost a wedding band that belonged to my grandmother. I have been wearing it for years. Two years ago it slipped off my finger and I actually found it a year later in one of the containers in the rear hatch of my vehicle. This time I looked inside and outside the store, removed everything that was in my vehicle and searched for the ring. It was nowhere to be found and I am heartbroken. Thankfully, I had a lunch date with a friend I met back in New York 60+ years ago. We get together, monthly, for lunch and sometimes when my family is having a celebration. I was grateful to spend time with her so I could take my mind off the ring situation for a bit. After lunch, I went back home and started working there... Bottled waters, pet training pads, stainless steel pet dish, individual bags of dog treats, chicken jerky treats, Inaba Twins, 20lb. bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company and bully sticks were shared.
I was not asked to meet with anyone, this morning, so I just got in my vehicle and drove towards Fairmount Park. I was hoping to find someone in Rubidoux but the spot she was in is still fenced off and I wasn't able to locate her in any of the areas I was looking. I figured there might be a few people at Fairmount, because it is one of the few places they can still find some shade to sit in or park their vehicles. As soon as I spotted a dog I recognized, I pulled into the parking lot where she was. There were other people there with pets as well. While we were visiting, someone pulled up with a puppy that needs 'the works'. We visited and I told the companion to call me to schedule her appointment. All of the pets got treats and chew sticks while some received other supplies too. When I left the park, I drove out to Jurupa Valley to check our (empty) PO Box and to see if someone was still broken down nearby. A woman who just had her dog stolen, and was thankfully returned, has a van that 'died' near the Firestone dealer. There is no shade so I was sure they would need cold waters, if they were still there. They were. During out visit, I got a call from a gentleman who used to park over there too but his vehicle was recently towed. He was with a friend and wanted to know if I had dog food. I did. They were nearby so they came over to where we were. When I left that location, I went home so I could do a few things around the house, eat lunch and then get busy at my desk... Bottled waters, collapsible pet dish, pet tear stain wipes, paw rub, large dog collar, dog leash, individual bags of dog treats, chicken jerky treats, 2-20 pound bags of dog food from the Star Milling Company, one small bag pf freeze dried dog food, Inaba Twins, kabob chew sticks, buffalo tendons, bully sticks, Kong squeaky ball and plush squeaky dog toy were shared.
As I do most every Friday, I headed to the Path of Life Community Shelter on the Eastside. There were six pets, and their companions, in the kennel area and someone else parked in front with her two dogs. I visited with the six, and provided a few supplies` for all of them before leaving that location. I had a few personal errands to run and I wanted to get them, done before the temps reached 90+. While I was out, I got my CT results back from Kaiser. My doctor called, this afternoon, and we went over everything. I will be getting another referral, or two, and figure things out from there. In the mean time, I will keep doing my daily travels and make health decisions when I know what's next... Bottled waters, individual bags of dog treats, chicken jerky treats, Inaba Twins, kabob chew sticks and bully sticks were shared.
Only one of the five pets that received 'the works' yesterday' was in a motel room last night but in addition to her I also rented three other rooms to help some people get out of the heat. I still had a little money left from our last online fundraiser, and from the project we did with Animal Victory, so I used that. I do a fundraiser in June or during the hot summer nights to give them a break from the high temperatures. Unfortunately, we are having summer temperatures, even though it is technically still winter. When I left the motel, I had to get back home to wait for a plumber. The work I recently did, inside the house, was fine but some of the outdoor pipes corroded. It was barely dripping for awhile but began having a pretty steady drip a couple of days ago so it had to be repaired. I hope this is the end of spending money for awhile. It is cheaper to have a handyman do some of the things that need done but when it comes to electrical, and some plumbing, I prefer leaving it to the professionals. While the plumbers were working outside, I took care of some things I needed to do inside. When everything was done, it was time for lunch and my afternoon desk work... Bottled waters, Premier protein drinks, large bag of recyclables, small dog collar, small dog leash, 3.5 pound bag of Pedigree for small dogs, wet puppy food, chicken jerky treats, small individual bags of dog treats, Inaba Churu Rolls, Inaba Twins, kabob chew sticks, squeaky Kong ball and plush squeaky dog toys were shared.
When all was said and done, we provided 'the works' for three female dogs, one male dog and one male cat... We had six pets scheduled and confirmed. It was originally for three cats and three dogs but that changed. Last night, I received a text saying that one of the cat's that was supposed to get 'the works' today was nowhere to be found. This was one of the two cats that did not make it to last week's appointments. When a volunteer from Feeding Perris Strays went to pick up the other cat today, she was told the cat got out. So, no cats two weeks in a row for her means no future appointments will be given. However, the companion had a dog that recently had a litter and needed spayed so the plan was to put her in the empty slot. Because one of the cat's that got out this morning, we were only able to use five of our appointments but that means five pets will not be contributing to pet overpopulation in the future. "One by one we get them done, because the only way to combat pet overpopulation and euthanasia in our shelters is to spay and neuter." Bottled waters, ARCO fuel cards, handmade pet jacket, 3.5 pound bag of Pedigree for puppies, wet puppy food, 13-pound bag of dog food, 17-pound bags of cat food from the Star Milling Company, wet cat food, 20-pound bags of dog food from the Star Milling Company, plush squeaky dog toys and cat toys were shared.
The only commitment I had, this morning, was to meet someone at a river bottom outlet off of Fleetwood in Jurupa Valley. I didn't see any point in just going home after that so I drove over to Fairmount Park. I made two stops in the park. I visited with three dogs and provided a few supplies. It was nearly 90 degrees out by the time I visited the last two pets so I decided not to go looking for anymore. I checked our (empty) PO Box, stopped at the store to pick up more produce for my tortoise and headed home. I stocked my vehicle with supplies for tomorrow's spay/neuter appointments, did a few things around my house and then worked at my desk... Bottled waters, flavored drink packets, pet fly repellant, Inaba Twins, wet dog food, simply cesar chicken, 20-pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, chicken jerky treats, buffalo tendons, bully sticks and kabob chew sticks were shared.
I had enough time this morning to bake a batch of cookies and make a trip to return something to the hardware store, before starting my daily travels. I drove over the Eastside and parked in front of the kennels at the Path of Life Community Shelter. Ever since the gentleman who was running the kennel area was let go, things have been less organized there. When I arrived, two dogs were outside and their companion was cleaning their kennels. I visited the dogs, provided a few supplies and drove up the street. The field, that I recently visited where there were many tens and people with pets was now empty. Code enforcement kicked them all out and, unfortunately, threw away pet food and supplies that I had just dropped off a week ago. I don't have enough to replace it all so I am hoping they all find what they need elsewhere . A couple of people who were in that area were now a block away from the Access Center on Massachusetts. I stopped for them and spoke to someone who needs his dogs neutered and spayed. The female has had litters and the male has fathered more litters than I can count. It will be great, if we finally get them the services they need. My final visit was over by University and Victoria. From there, I drove back out to our storage units. I needed to pick up pet food and was meeting a friend to give her some of my baked goods. I went home, after that. I unloaded supplies, took my lunch break and began my afternoon work routine... Bottled waters, tear stain wipes, large dog collar, Inaba Twins, 13-pound bag of dog food, chicken jerky treats, buffalo tendons, bully sticks and squeaky ball were shared.
At 7am, I was at Lowe's searching for a part that I have been unable to find anywhere. They did not have it either so I proceeded to Kaiser for my CT scan. I was more than half an hour early and when I went to check in I was told they canceled most of the iodine IV scans. Thankfully, mine was still on track so I was able to get it done. I went home from there and waited to hear from someone in Colton. She had asked if we could meet today and we were trying to figure out where to make that happen. On my way, I went to another hardware store looking for the part I have been to a few other places for. They did not have it either so I continued on to Colton. I was about fifteen minutes early but they showed up on time so I did not have to wait long. There was, however, a lot going on over there with a helicopter circling and a number of police vehicles. They eventually apprehended the person they were there for and I provided a couple of people with supplies. From there, I got on the nearest freeway onramp and headed out to Jurupa Valley. A few days ago, a dog was taken and then dumped in Malibu. My daughter actually drove down there yesterday to bring her back, because the Animal Control Officers were unable to get there that quickly. I visited the dog and her companion. Both were happy! I went home from there and spent the rest of my day at my desk, the way I usually do, taking care of whatever needed done for Taking It To The Streets... Bottled waters, flavored drink packets, large dog collar, Inaba Twins, 2-20-pound bags of dog food from the Star Milling Company, 13-pound bag of dog food, chicken jerky treats, 2 Pupsicle toys with bags of treats, large bag of jerky treats, buffalo tendons, and bully sticks were shared.
Before heading out for my daily travels, I did a little baking. It is the second Saturday of the month, so I usually go to Fairmount Park. There are people who bring supplies and sometimes offer services to those in need. I go to see how many people might show up with their pets. On my way to the park, I made a detour to a hardware store to pick up something I needed. I went straight to the park from there. Not too many people showed up with pets but I did visit with six of the seven and provide supplies. I did not make any other stops, other than to check out empty PO Box, after that. I was thankful the temperatures were not as high as yesterday but still happy to get back home. I restocked my vehicle, took my lunch break and then got busy at my desk. I have an appointment for a CT, early tomorrow morning, and then the plan is to meet a small group of people after that. Often times, some or most don't show up so I will confirm after my appointment... Bottled waters, boxed bread sticks, flavored drink packets, Inaba Twins, 8-pound bag of Purina for Seniors, 20-pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, chicken jerky treats, buffalo tendons, kabob chew sticks and bully sticks were shared.
I made my usual trip to the Eastside, this morning, and parked in front of the kennels at the Path of Life Community Shelter. I visited with nine of the pets that were there and provided supplies for a few of them. When I left that location, I drove to the hardware store to try and get a battery for my vehicle’s fob. They did not have the right size and neither did the first auto parts store I went to. I was finally able to get one at Auto Zone. From there, I went home, loaded my vehicle for tomorrow’s travels and then headed inside for an 11am zoom meeting. After the meeting, I had lunch and then started my desk work..………Bottled waters, pet tear stain wipes, wet dog food, Inaba Twins, simply cesar chicken for dogs, 20-pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company chicken jerky treats, Inaba Churu Rolls, cat toy, buffalo tendons, kabob chew sticks and bully sticks were shared.
This morning, I drove out to the Jurupa Valley Motel6 to check on the pets that received 'the works' yesterday and to visit others. I was able to visit with two of the three pets that were spayed/neutered but not the third. I banged on the door and yelled the person's name for a few minutes but got no answer. I went to another room as well as out to the parking lot before going back to try again. I did the same thing with no results. I tried calling and texting but that did not work either. Later, I received a call saying the gentleman was sleeping and did not have any missed calls. I called hos cell, each time I knocked on the door and I see the outgoing calls on my phone. Either way, I said I would be there at 9am and I expect people to be awake and ready for me at that time. They are always free to go back to sleep but I want to check on the pets. That is part of the reason I put them in a room. In any case, I never got to check one of the dog's but did meet an unaltered dog in the parking lot with his companion and I am hoping she decides to allow him to be neutered. I also visited with three other dogs that I had in a room, because the companion of two of them helped rescue a small abandoned dog and I wanted to do something to show my appreciation for his help. That dog is now safely with Mutts N. Need Rescue. When I left the motel, I made another run to Costco, for more of the bully sticks, went to the nail salon for a fill and then made it back home before the temps got in the 90's. I am not a fan of the heat, especially when it is not even the first day of Spring yet. These are the days, I am grateful for the work I am able to do at my desk where it is cooler... Bottled waters, Premier protein shakes, leash, pet tear stain wipes, 3.5 pound bag of Pedigree for small dogs, wet dog food, Inaba Twins, 20-pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, chicken jerky treats, Inaba Churu Rolls, individual bags of dog treats, buffalo tendons, kabob chew sticks and bully sticks were shared.
We had six pets confirmed for 'the works' today. There were two female dogs, two male dogs, one female cat and a male cat. Unfortunately, only three of the, actually made it. The two cats were referrals from Feeding Perris Strays. The cats could not be located, at first. When they were, I was told they would be able to make it in about thirty minutes and I agreed to wait. However, there was an accident which delayed their arrival time for much longer and they would not have made it in time to get checked in. I had to tell Maria not to continue her drive. As far as the other dog was concerned, there seemed to be some type of miscommunication or something. I am not really sure but the person with that pet was a no show. As disappointing as this morning was, I am thankful for the three pets we were able to provide services for today and that I was able to celebrate my daughter's birthday with some of my family. "One by one we get the, done, because the only way to combat pet overpopulation and euthanasia in our shelters is to spay and neuter." Bottled waters, ARCO fuel cards, handmade pet jackets, fleece blanket, tear stain wipes, slip lead, 2-20-pound bags of dog food from the Star Milling Company and plush squeaky dog toys were shared.
I started my day in the parking lot of the Jurupa Valley Motel6. Someone I know, from the river bottom had a room there. I went to visit her two dogs and bring supplies. When I left that location, I drove to Fairmount Park to meet with a couple that have been using my traps. One of the cats I have scheduled for neutering on the 18th is not friendly. I am lending the trap, and a carrier for another cat, to a volunteer from Feeding Perris Strays. She has been bringing pets in for a few months now so I know I will be able to see her and get my items returned. I just want to help make what she is doing a little easier, being that she has been doing so much. On my way to get the trap, I saw a couple of people with their dogs at the park so I stopped for them first. I provided them with supplies and then went to another area of the park to meet the couple with my trap. I have known them for many years. When we met, they were homeless and I always helped with their pets. Even though they have been housed for a few years now, I always enjoy visiting with some of the pets they still have. When I left that location, I went home and loaded up whatever I need for tomorrow's spay/neuter appointments. All sox are confirmed so I am hoping it is another good day! It also happens to be my daughter's birthday. My son is bringing my granddaughter t Riverside and the four of us will be going for a celebratory lunch. Looking forward to some, much needed, family time! Bottled waters, flavored drink packets, handmade pet jackets ,17-pound bag of cat food from the Star Milling Company, 2-20-pound bags of dog food from the Star Milling Company, wet dog food, Inaba Twins, Inaba Churu Rolls, individual bags of dog treats, chicken jerky treats, bully slices, kabob chew sticks, collagen chews and bully sticks were shared.
I went to the Eastside, this morning, but I did not go to the kennels at the Path of Life Community Shelter. I went to a nearby field where there are a number of pets, and their companions, in a homeless encampment. On my way, I dropped off my monthly 'thank-you' bag for the gentleman who does our website. His wife works near the downtown area so I always leave the bag with her. The bag's contents are intended for both of them and their kitties... When I arrived on the Eastside, I went to see someone who said they were in need of dog food. I visited with her dog and a few others. I provided supplies as well. I did get a surprise visit from a kitty I had not seen in many months. His name is 'General'. I used to visit him frequently, when his companion was in the Path of Life Shelter but had not seen him since she exited. I have been in the field before but never seen him there either. While I was talking to someone else, he just showed up. He clearly remembered who I was and even started to follow me back across the field. That came to an end when a Chihuahua chased him off but I did catch back up with him, after I gave his companion some cat food and other supplies. When I left the Eastside, I drove out to our storage units to meet Seth Cox who was going to meet me with our monthly donation of pet food from the Star Milling Company. He arrived and helped me unload the 720-pound delivery. I can't thank him, or Star Milling, enough for this gift! When I left storage, I drove home to unload the extra supplies and reload supplies for tomorrow's travels. I got started on my daily desk work, right after lunch... Bottled waters, cat collar, cat toys, wet cat food, 17-pound bags of cat food from the Star Milling Company, 20-pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, wet dog food , Inaba Chur Rolls, m/l dog collar, handmade pet jacket, Inaba Twins, chicken jerky treats, buffalo tendons, bully slices, collagen chews and bully sticks were shared.
Another day of gusting winds but today I wore a mask which made breathing much easier. The only thing I had planned was to meet someone that wanted me to check an abandoned dog for a microchip. He had already put the dog on multiple sites, with no luck, and was hoping she might be chipped. When he arrived, where we agreed to meet, I thought I recognized the dog. There were a number of stories going around about her. In any case, the gentleman who contacted me found this dog tied up in a field with no food or water. He has actually rescued a few dogs in the past. He has held on to some and gotten others returned to their owners. He is holding on her for me as I got a rescue commitment this afternoon. In the meantime, I left a collar, leash, pet jacket and a few supplies, before heading over to Fairmount Park. I made two stops there. I visited a couple of dogs at each and provided supplies. One of the dog's actually lives indoors, with his companion, and has for quite some time. I was told the funding had run out and they would soon be back on the streets or in their case, living in their vehicle. I have missed seeing the dog but sorry their circumstances are changing. After leaving the park, I drove out to our PO Box where there were a few donations and then I went home. I was happy to get out of the wind and do the rest of my work indoors... Bottled waters, Premier protein shakes, small leash, small collar, large leash, handmade pet jacket, Inaba Twins, chicken jerky treats, individual bags of dog treats, doggie waste bags, kabob chew sticks, buffalo tendons and bully sticks were shared.
Before I even left the house, this morning, I received a text from a gentleman I have known for many years. I have helped him with his dogs and he has helped me with dogs he has come across. The reason for his text was because he found a small dog tethered to a tree somewhere nobody would normally have seen her. There was no food or water left and nothing around but an open field. I was asked if I would come and check her for a chip. The last time he found a dog, we were able to find its family. I do not have time to meet with the gentleman today but I made arrangements to do so tomorrow, Not sure what will happen with this one but I will check it for a chip and then go from there... It was pretty windy, when I left for the Eastside, so I decided not to stay out for more than an hour or so. Until I am fully over this cold, I don't need the wind making things worse for that or my allergies but I still want to be sure I get to where I might be needed. I had originally planned on going to a field where there are a few people in tents that also have dogs. It is not far from the Path of Life Community Shelter but it there is so much dirt blowing around there that I decided to wait and go on Monday. Today, it was just the kennels at the Path of Life Community Shelter. I visited with four pets, as they were coming out of their kennels, and I met a new one when his owner was trying to sign up for housing. He had no idea how long the wait is and that it is also difficult to get a bed and kennel space. I know nothing was going to happen with housing but I hope he was able to get a bed and a kennel. After the visits, I provided a few supplies and then drove out to the Costco in Eastvale. I went to get bully sticks and collagen chews. Unfortunately, the collagen chews were no longer an item there but the bully sticks were. They are usually a great price at $26.99 for 10-12 but today they were on sale for $6.00 off each bag so I purchased a few. I went home from there to spend the rest of the day doing what I usually do... Bottled waters, chicken jerky treats, 13-pound bag pf dog food, Inaba Twins, collagen sticks and bully sticks were shared.
This morning, I went to the Jurupa Valley Motel6 to check on four of the pets that received 'the works' yesterday and to visit with a couple others. I provided supplies where needed. When I left that location, I headed across town to our storage units where I picked up pet food, pet jackets, collars and waters. I was hoping to find some large leashes in the collar container but they are gone. I will have to add some to our wish lists when I update with pother items as well. The winds were picking up, as I was leaving the storage facility. I am feeling much better today but did not want the wind to cause me any further sinus issues so I went straight home. I unloaded most of what I picked up and then restocked my vehicle for tomorrow's trip to the Eastside. I was happy to spend the rest of the day, indoors, doing my daily desk work... Bottled waters, Premier protein shakes, handmade pet jackets, k9 glucosamine hip and joint chews, chicken jerky treats, Inaba Twins, Inaba Churus, wet puppy food, collagen sticks and bully sticks were shared.
March got off to a great start! We had six pets scheduled, and confirmed, for 'the works' today. There were three female dogs, two male dogs and one female cat. Everyone was running a little behind but all made it in plenty of time to get checked in. I had a plumber, and a handyman, coming to my home this morning so I did not stay for the individual check-ins but will see most of the pets, again tomorrow, at the motel. Thanks Again to Riverside County Department of Animal Services for giving us appointments each week and for the Healthy Pet Zone Fund that covers the cost of pets living in certain zip codes of Riverside County. Thanks Again to Maria from Feeding Perris Strays for transporting pets each week so they can receive these much needed services. It really does take a village! "One by one we get them done, because the only way to combat pet overpopulation and euthanasia in our shelters is to spay and neuter." Bottled waters, ARCO fuel cards, puppy training pads, slip lead, xl collar and leash set, small leash, small collar, 3 large leashes, 3.5-pound bag of Pedigree for puppies, 17-pound bag of cat food from the Star Milling Company, 4-20-pound bags of dog food from the Star Milling Company, 13-pound bag of dog food, squeaky dog toy and plush squeaky dog toys were shared.
I was feeling a little better, this morning, so I decided to drive over to the Path of Life Community Shelter. I visited with seven of the dogs that were outside the kennels and provided a few supplies. My earlier 'burst of energy' wore off quickly so I didn't stay as long as I had planned. However, I did drive across town to our storage units to pick up more pet food and waters. When I returned home, I unloaded most of what I had picked up. I left a few things in my vehicle, incase I am out and about tomorrow. I am probably going back to Kaiser, first thing, and then will proceed from there depending on how I am feeling. I am sure I just have a cold but I have not had one in many years. I seem to be in need of a tissue, every few minutes, and it is just uncomfortable. That being said, I am grateful it is not something worse. In addition to my daily work routine, I spent the afternoon drinking plenty of fluids and resting as much as possible... Bottled waters, chicken jerky treats, 20-pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, kabob chew sticks and collagen chews were shared.
