Three dogs received 'the works' yesterday. This morning, I went to the Jurupa Valley Motel6 to check on them and to visit another room we reserved. That room was for a woman who helped us with a stray German Shepherd a few days ago. When she could not reach Animal Services, I made contact. She stayed with the dog, until someone came from him. We thought he was injured, because he did not move from the same spot for many hours but now we believe he might have just been dehydrated. Animal Services came for him and his family showed up the next day. He was not chipped so it was clear they were looking for him. I got the woman who helped, and her dog, a room for the night as a thank you. After visiting all of the pets, and providing a few supplies, I headed out to Costco. I was hoping an item might be back in stock but it wasn't. I went to our PO Box next. A package I was expecting had arrived. It was handmade Native American jewelry someone sent for our fundraiser in June. I went home, after that and began my afternoon routine there... Bottled waters, Premier protein shakes, pet tear stain wipes, paw rub, chicken jerky treats, 4.5lb. bag of senior dog food, 20lb. bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, Inaba Meal Toppers, Inaba Twins, Inaba Churu Rolls, kabob chew sticks and bully sticks were shared.
Our total spay/neuter services for April are 16. There were 13 Dogs and 3 Cats. 12 female dogs and 1 male dog. All of the cats were female………We had six pets scheduled, and confirmed, for 'the works' today. All were female dogs. Three actually made it. When I arrived, a couple was already there with their two dogs and another gentleman arrived with his soon after. The two that were supposed to be coming from Perris did not show and did not respond to any calls or texts. The one coming from the river bottom, behind the shelter, did not respond to any calls or texts either. She did call me later to tell me that everyone down there was arrested and she just got out this morning, after check in time. Her appointment is now rescheduled. We had a total of 30 possible appointments this month but only provided 16 pets with 'the works'. I am very disappointed that 14 appointments were wasted but grateful for those we were able to do. Thankfully, I was spending time with family, today and that always puts a smile on my face. "One by one we get them done, because the only way to combat pet overpopulation and euthanasia in our shelters is to spay and neuter." Bottled waters, ARCO fuel cards, handmade pet jackets, 20lb.bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, 3.5lb. bag of Pedigree puppy food, wet puppy food, small collar, small leash, medium collar and plush squeaky pet toys were shared.
I had originally planned on meeting a few people in the parking lot of Riverside County Animal Services to distribute pet food and supplies. Each either canceled or didn't get back to me to confirm. Then I had a change in plans and was going to meet a group in Colton. I stopped to get fuel first and ran into someone I know with a dog so I spent some time with them, before getting back on the road. When I arrived in Colton, nobody was waiting for me. I stayed for fifteen minutes and then left. I called one of the people who was supposed to meet and she said she was almost there but I told her I was not going back. I have had many issues out there with people not showing or being late for supplies. I don't mind driving all the way there but I do mind my time, and fuel, being wasted. When I spoke to the person who was almost there, I told her that I feel people should be waiting for me, when we make plans to meet. It is disrespectful to make me sit there and wait or not show at all. I am still willing to help all of the people from there but they will need to figure out a new place to meet and they need to be on time or that won't work either. It makes me feel bad when I know the pets need supplies but I have a full schedule each day and that matters. When I left Colton, I headed back to Jurupa Valley. I drove through Fairmount Park, on the way, but did not see anyone with pets. I stopped to visit a dog in Jurupa Valley and provided supplies. After that, I went back to where I had seen the dog earlier in the morning. His companion needed dog food but I was supposed to give what I had to the Colton group. Since they didn't show, I had food for his dog. While I was giving him the food, I saw a couple that had left town awhile back. I was told they got housing. They don't have housing now but do have a vehicle and still have their dog. I spent some time visiting, provided a few supplies and then headed home. After lunch, I loaded supplies for tomorrow and then got busy at my desk... Bottled waters, large bag of recyclables, chicken jerky treats, Inaba meal Toppers, Inaba Twins, 2-20lb. bags of dog food from the Star Milling Company, bully sticks and plush squeaky dog toys were shared.
I started my morning on the Eastside by the kennels at the Path of Life Community Shelter. I visited with ten dogs while I was there, provided supplies for many of them and made an appointment for one to receive 'the works' on Wednesday. I also called Van Buren Animal Hospital and approved the cost for an 8yr. old female dog to have blood work done. It is not something we normally do but her companion is concerned about her being spayed at her age so I am hoping the blood work comes back with no issues and we can get that done. It is an expense I was not prepared for but feel it is necessary in this case. When I left the Eastside, I drove across town to our storage units to pick up pet food and waters. I made a quick stop, at the store, to pick up mor produce for my desert tortoise and then I went home to unload most of what I picked up and restock my vehicle for tomorrow's travels. The afternoon was spent working at my desk and getting everything set for Wednesday's spay/neuter appointments... Bottled waters, handmade pet jackets, doggie waste bags, chicken jerky treats, Inaba meal Toppers, Inaba Twins, 13lb. bag of dog food, 2-20lb. bags of dog food from the Star Milling Company, bully slices, kabob chew sticks, bully sticks and plush squeaky dog toys were shared.
This morning, I drove to the Eastside and parked by the kennels in front of the Path of Life Community Shelter. I saw ten dogs and visited with eight of them. Six stay in the kennels at night because their companions are in one of the shelters there. When I left that location, I drove back to Jurupa Valley to check our PO Box where I was thankful to find a donation check. From there, I went home so I could make it to an 11am zoom meeting. I have a MRCP MRI scan scheduled for tomorrow morning so I will not be doing my daily travels. I plan to go back out on Sunday, unless I am able to make plans with my family. If that happens then I will take that day off too... Bottled waters, chicken jerky treats, Inaba meal Toppers, Inaba Churu Rolls, 20lb. bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, chicken jerky treats, bully slices, kabob chew sticks, bully sticks and different sizes of Kong squeaky balls were shared.
I only made one stop today and that was at the Jurupa Valley Motel6. Two of the dogs we spayed yesterday were there. I went to check on them. Both seemed to be recuperating nicely. When I left the motel, I stopped at Staters, went home to put up some laundry and then went back out for an 11am appointment. When I returned home, I spent the rest of the day doing my usual desk work in addition to dealing with a situation that began yesterday when my last phone call of the day was from one of the homeless we have provided services for. It was regarding a loose dog. I told her to call Animal Control. When I woke up, this morning, there was a voicemail about a sweet dog that was hit by a car and was near the CircleK on Mission and Opal. I contacted the homeless woman, again, to find out if it was the same dog she had seen and if it was still there. It was. After many calls, I reached someone at Riverside County Animal Services and the dog is now there. He was not chipped and is on a stray hold. I posted on my personal page and will do my best to keep an eye on him... Bottled waters, Premier protein shakes, doggie waste bags, Inaba Twins, Inaba meal Toppers, wet cat food, handmade pet jacket, 17lb. bag of cat food from the Star Milling Company, chicken jerky treats, bully slices, buffalo tendons, bully stick and collagen stick were shared.
Today got off to a great start and we reached #2,500 for providing 'the works'! We had four dogs and two cats scheduled, and confirmed, for the works. There were three female dogs, one male dog and two female cats. Two of the pets were supposed to show up last week but ran into difficulties so this morning was their second chance. Everyone showed up and they were all on time which was a relief, especially after the last three weeks. The only issue we had was that one of the dogs slipped out of her collar by the check in door. She went running but thankfully a friend of her companion was in the parking lot and grabbed her. A staff member got a slip lead on her and took her inside. A dangerous situation was averted and all six pets got checked in. "One by one we get them done, because the only way to combat pet overpopulation and euthanasia in our shelters is to spay and neuter." Bottled waters, ARCO fuel cards, Inaba meal Toppers, wet cat food, handmade pet jacket, medium dog collar, 2-17lb. bags of cat food from the Star Milling Company, 4-20lb. bags of dog food from the Star Milling Company, cat toys and plush squeaky dog toys were shared.
This morning, I drove out to Colton to meet with the people and pets I was unable to connect with on Sunday. I visited with five dogs and provide supplies for them and all of the cats we have spayed/neutered at their camp. When I left that location, I drove back to Jurupa Valley to pick up a mail order prescription at our PO Box and then went home. I stayed there for a brief time and then went to meet someone for lunch, before returning home to begin my work routine there. Tomorrow is spay/neuter day. We have six confirmed appointments, again, and I am hoping this week is better than the past couple have been... Bottled waters, trash bags, slip leads, chicken jerky treats, 13lb. bag of dog food, 17lb. of cat food from the Star Milling Company, 20lb. bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, Inaba Twins, Inaba meal toppers, Inaba Churu Rolls, Inaba twins, Inaba Meal Toppers, Inaba churu rolls, wet cat food, squeaky dog toys, Kong balls and bully sticks were shared.
My morning got cut short, after I realized that the dog poop I was smelling was in the treads of my Nikes and on the bottom of my pants. I cleaned off as much as I could, with the bleach wipes I had in my vehicle, but they needed a scrub brush and hose. I did stay long enough to visit with five pets and provide a few supplies but I did not get to another location I had planned on going to. I had plenty of work to do both personally, and for the charity, at home so I just called it a day. Tomorrow will surely be better. LOL! Bottled waters, slip lead, chicken jerky treats, 13lb. bag of dog food, Inaba Churu Rolls, Inaba Twins, Inaba Meal Toppers, bully slices and bully sticks were shared.
Today did not get off to the best start. I was supposed to meet a couple in Colton. They have five dogs and a number of cats. All are spayed/neutered. I arrived a little early and waited for a while but nobody showed up and nobody replied to my text messages. (I later found out it was because the police were in the river bottom and nobody was allowed to leave while they were looking for someone but I did not know that at the time.) I left Colton and drove to Fairmount Park. I did not find anyone with pets there. The Riverside County Department of Animal Services was holding an event today called 'Wags and Wheels'. I decided to go check it out and see if any vendors there might be willing to donate something to our upcoming fundraiser. I spoke to two vendors that said they would like to help and one gave me the name of another possible contact. The event seemed well attended and my hope is that some of the long time resident will get their forever homes. I am sharing two of them on today's post. I don't normally do so but I only saw one pet belonging to someone homeless and I feel the need to share dogs that really need out of the shelter. These dogs have spent so much time waiting for someone to love them and sharing might help. The 'Dog Day Out' program is something more people need to volunteer for. It get the pets out of the shelter for a day and seen in public so someone might see them who would not normally... Bottled waters, eye stain wipes, paw rub, chicken jerky treats, 20lb. bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, Inaba Churu Rolls, Inaba Twins, Inaba Meal Toppers, bully stick, Kong ball and plush squeaky dog toy were shared.
Today was a 'hit and miss' kind of day. I did eventually visit with five pets but the first hour I spent on the streets was very unproductive. When I was unable to touch base with any of the people and pets I was looking for, I decided to make a quick stop at the Mary S. Robert's walk. I spoke to a few people there and then headed over to a motel on the Eastside. I visited with three dogs there. Two of them I had planned to visit. The third was not planned. It was with a gentleman, and a dog, I had never met. When I left that location, I drove back to Fairmount Park and met someone in the back by the legion hall. All of the dogs received treats, chew sticks and other supplies. By the time I was done with that last visit, it was time for me to get back home and begin my afternoon work routine there... Bottled waters, eye stain wipes, paw rub, chicken jerky treats, 2-3.5lb. bags of Pedigree for small dogs, 6lb. bag of Bil Jac senior dog food, wet puppy food, Inaba Churu Rolls, Inaba Twins, Inaba Meal Toppers, bully stick, kabob chew sticks and squeaky plush dog toys were shared.
On Fridays, it is always my plan to go to the kennels at the Path of Life Community Shelter on the Eastside. That is where I went this morning. I visited with six dogs that have companions in the shelters there and two that have companions that sleep with them in their vehicles. I provided supplies to some and all received treats and chew sticks. When I left that location, I drove across town to Kaiser. I have three appointments there, over the next few weeks, but today I went as a walk in to get an x-ray that my doctor ordered. Next Saturday I will have to take the day off for the scan I am scheduled for but I figured they could fit me in for the x-ray today, after I was done with my daily travels. I was in and out in less than an hour. I did not make any other stops after that. My senior dog had already been in the house for quite some time and I wanted to get home and let him out. My afternoon was spent doing my usual desk work and correcting a donation request letter I have for our upcoming event... Bottled waters, cheese slices, candy, facial scrub, bathrobe, 3.5lb. bag of Pedigree puppy food, wet puppy food, 13lb. bag of dog food, Inaba Churu Rolls, Inaba Twins, Inaba Meal Toppers, bully slices, bully sticks and squeaky Kong balls were shared.
Only one of the two pets that received 'the works; yesterday had a reservation at the Jurupa Valley Motel6. We offered rooms to both but the other was declined. I went to check on the dog that was spayed and I also visited with a couple of dogs that were there with their companions. I provided a few supplies and then I headed across town to Staples and our storage units. When I left storage, I drove out to our (empty) PO Box and then home. I unloaded some of what I had picked up and left some in my vehicle for tomorrow's travels. After lunch, I made sure my tortoise got fed, I answered emails, texts, phone calls and worked on our social media. I also received a message from Kaiser that I can get an x-ray done as soon as I can get over there. I have other appointments already scheduled for a couple of scans and a phone consult so this is the last thing I need to take care of until those appointments start. It's a good thing I like to stay busy! Bottled waters, Premier protein shakes, Inaba Churu Rolls, Inaba Twins, Inaba Meal Toppers, bully slices, bully sticks and plush squeaky dog toys were shared.
I am not sure what is going on this month but we have not had much success with people keeping their appointments even though they confirm. We have only been able to use eight of the possible eighteen appointments so far... We had five dogs and one cat scheduled for today. Only two dogs made it….When I arrived at the Riverside County Department of Animal Services parking lot, there was a gentleman already there waiting with his dog. Soon after, I received a text from Maria Flores saying that one of the two dogs from out in Perris was nowhere to be found and the dog's companion could not be reached. That left me with three pets still to come. After waiting for about twenty minutes, I began trying to contact the companions of those pets. One did not respond at all. The other two said they had some issues getting to the appointment but could make it in about thirty minutes or so. That would have made them too late to get their pets checked in so I told them it wouldn't work out. We are so close to the 2500 mark, with providing 'the works', and I was hoping to reach that today. More importantly, I was just disappointed to waste more appointments. I am hoping the last two weeks of the month turn out better than the first three have but I am still grateful that two more pets will not be adding to pet overpopulation in the homeless community or our community at large. "One by one we get them done, because the only way to combat pet overpopulation and euthanasia in our shelters is to spay and neuter." Bottled waters, ARCO fuel cards, stainless steel pet dish, 17lb. bag of cat food from the Star Milling Company, 2-20lb. bags of dog food from the Star Milling Company, Inaba Churu Rolls and Inaba Meal Toppers were shared.
I was asked to meet a small group of people, and their pets, over by Ryan Bonominio Park this morning. All three showed up and on time. I spent over an hour with them and then headed downtown to meet with Tracey Cleary and Carolyn Badger at Back To The Grind. The owner was kind enough to join us for a bit and is being very gracious with allowing us to use his establishment for our June fundraiser. We had a discussion about seating, raffles and ways to do the set up. We have more organizing to do but it was a good meeting. I posted a list to let our supporters know what we might be needing and let them know that I will give more specific details as time goes on. We are all so busy and this is a big undertaking but I am confident that it will be a success if we can get enough people to participate in the preparations and of course on the day of... Bottled waters, medium dog bed, handmade pet jackets, k9 glucosamine mobility chews, slip lead, dog leash, large dog collar, chicken jerky treats, 6lb. bag of Bil Jac senior dog food, 3-20 pound bags of dog food from the Star Milling Company, Inaba twins, Inaba meal toppers, Inaba Churu Rolls, bully sticks, Kong squeaky balls and plush squeaky dog toys were shared.
This morning, I made my usual Monday trip to the kennels outside the Path of Life Community Shelter on the Eastside. It was drizzling, on and off, but not enough to keep everyone inside. I visited with six pets and provided a few supplies. When I left there, I drove over to University and Victoria. I visited the dog and provided a few supplies before heading out to our storage units. I was just there yesterday but forgot to put something in my vehicle so I went back for that. On my way, I stopped at Staples to pick up raffle tickets to be used for our June fundraiser and then I drove out to our PO Box in Jurupa Valley. I got notified that a large Chewy donation was sent by someone but was unable to get it Saturday. I was able to do so today. I went home from there to unload and reload my vehicle before getting started on my afternoon desk work... Bottled waters, chicken jerky treats, Inaba twins, Inaba meal toppers, Inaba Churu Rolls, bully slices, buffalo tendons, bully sticks and plush squeaky dog toy were shared.
Today is the second Saturday of the month. I usually go to Fairmount Park while there are other people there giving food and some supplies to those in need. I am never sure how many people will show up with pets but there are always some so it is worth going. There was rain in the forecast but it was mostly sunny and dry so I am glad I went there. I visited with seven pets and provided supplies for some of them. I had planned to stop at our PO Box to pick up a donation someone sent from Chewy but I decided not to. I went home instead and will do the pick up on Monday. I had a few things I needed to get done around the house so I did those, ate lunch and then got to work at my desk... Bottled waters, doggie waste bags, medium dog collar, large dog collar, Inaba Twins, 13lb. bag of dog food, chicken jerky treats, kabob chew sticks and bully sticks were shared.
I made my Friday trip to the Eastside this morning. I stopped for a gentleman who just got out of the hospital and was on Massachusetts with his dog. He is trying to get into Illuminations and I really hope that happens for him. He has health issues and really needs to be indoors. He told me they took the dog to the hospital with him and I was thankful the two of them were able to stay together under the circumstances. When I parked my vehicle it was on Massachusetts in front of the Path of Life Community Shelter kennels. I visited with seven more dogs while I was there and provided supplies for a few of them. I had an 11am zoom meeting to get home for so I did not make any other stops after leaving that location. I did receive a text, this afternoon, from a woman whose dog I just had spayed. When she returned to her 'camp' there were five puppies in a cage and their owner was nowhere in sight. She said it didn't look like anyone had been there while she was at the motel. She also said there was another puppy left tied to a fence that passed away. The irresponsibility of the person who is supposed to be handling this is inexcusable as is the fact that his dog is not neutered and continues to impregnate any unspayed female he comes across. I placed a call to an Sgt. and an ACO at Riverside County Animal Services. An Officer went and picked up the puppies but the male took off. If he returns, the people at the camp will try to catch him. At least this way, I know he will be neutered before his owner can get him out. This has been bothering me for a long time. All I can do is continue trying to get the dog neutered but I am not sure his companion should even have him at this point……Tomorrow is the second Saturday of the month and I usually go to Fairmount Park while there are other people giving food and some supplies to those in need. I am never sure how many people will show up with pets but there are always some so it is worth going there. The only issue that comes up is the weather but the rain was taken out of the forecast so I am hoping for a dry morning... Bottled waters, doggie waste bags, large slip lead, Inaba Churu Rolls, Inaba Twins, 20lb. bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, chicken jerky treats and bully slices were shared.
All four pets that received 'the works' yesterday began recuperating last night at the Jurupa Valley Motel6. I went there this morning to see how they were doing. Most had regained their appetites and each of them seemed to be recuperating nicely. When I left that location, I made a stop at home and then went back out for an appointment at the nail salon. The afternoon was spent scheduling scans that were ordered by a surgeon at Kaiser, editing photos, updating, social media, answering emails, calls and texts as well as scheduling spay/neuter appointments for next week... Bottled waters, Premier protein shakes, Inaba Churu Rolls, Inaba Twins, 20lb. bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, chicken jerky treats, kabob chew sticks and bully sticks were shared.
We had six pets confirmed for 'the works' today. Two of the dogs were last minute changes but all were confirmed late yesterday afternoon. There were four female dogs, one female cat and one male cat. All of the dogs arrived on time but the gentleman with the cats was a no show and did not respond to calls or texts. I had spoken to him multiple times and was surprised that he didn't make it but that was the case. We wasted more appointments again, this week, but were able to provide four pets with much needed services and each has a motel reservation to begin recuperation. "One by one we get them done, because the only way to combat pet overpopulation and euthanasia in our shelters is to spay and neuter." Bottled waters, ARCO fuel cards, handmade pet jackets, Max and Neo dog collar, small dog leash, large dog leash, 2-17lb. bags of cat food from the Star Milling Company, 20lb. bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, 3.5lb. bags of Pedigree for puppies, wet puppy food and plush squeaky pet toys were shared.
I had a dental appointment, this morning, and really wasn't sure what time I was going to get out of there. Because of that, I did not make many plans to meet up with people and their pets. However, I did set up a tentative time, and place, to meet with two of the people, and four of the pets, that were unable to meet with me on Sunday. We met in the parking lot of the legion hall at Fairmount Park. I was able to visit with the dogs and provide their companions with supplies. When I left that location, I checked our (empty) PO Box and then went home to load up supplies for the pets that are scheduled for 'the works' tomorrow and to do whatever work needed done at my desk... Bottled waters, k9 glucosamine chews, tear stain wipes, paw rub, large dog collar, Tiller Tugs leash, chicken jerky treats, individual bag of dog treats, 4lb. bag of senior dog food, 2-20lb. bags of dog food from the Star Milling Company, Inaba Twins, wet dog food, bully sticks and Kong balls were shared.
When I left the house this morning it was drizzling so I wasn't sure what to expect on my daily travels. On my way to the Path of Life Community Shelter kennels, I stopped to drop off the monthly 'thank you' bag for the gentleman who works on keeping our website current. He and his wife enjoy the human treats and their kitties enjoy their treats and toys so it is a 'win win' for all…..When I arrived at the kennels, I found out that the kennels were not being opened the way they are supposed to. I have reported this downtown multiple times and thought it was handled but it doesn't seem to be. I will keep trying to reach out, until the issue is resolved. While I was there, I visited with nine of the ten dogs that were outside. Two of those dogs are not spayed but I still gave them treats. The tenth dog is not neutered and the owner made it clear she was 'never removing his balls'. I explained about the euthanasia that goes on in our shelters and the pet overpopulation problem. She did not seem to care. She plans to breed this dog, that looks like a pit mis to me, but said that even if she doesn't, she will never neuter him. I will never understand the selfishness of people. It is one thing when someone is unable to afford it or didn't understand how bad things are with pet overpopulation but when you educate them, offer to pay, and they still don't care it is just wrong on so many levels. I did not make any other stops, when I left that location. I was going to try and meet one of the people I missed yesterday but his phone was off so I just called it a day... Bottled waters, Benadryl caplets, chicken jerky treats, individual bag of dog treats, 20lb. bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, Inaba Twins, wet dog food, kabob chew sticks, buffalo tendons, bully sticks and xs Kong ball were shared.
Although nothing went as planned today I was still able to visit with five pets and their companions. They just weren't' the people and pets I had gone out to meet with... I was originally supposed to meet a couple of people by the legion at Fairmount Park. They each have two dogs. I waited there but nobody showed. The companion of two of the dogs contacted me to say he was having issues with his bike trailer and was running late. I told him to go to the front of the park, near the rest rooms, where I was supposed to meet someone else and her two dogs. She never showed up and she never contacted me either. This is the second time I have had issues so I am not going to go out of my way again to bring supplies. While I was parked there, I noticed a couple of dogs and their companion in the parking lot across from where I was so I went to visit them. When we were done, I walked over to visit a couple more people, and their dogs, over by the tennis courts. By this time, it was 45 minutes had passed and I needed to get going. I called the gentleman with the bike trailer issues and told him I was leaving. Not sure when we will catch up again. From there, I drove back to Jurupa Valley to pick up some produce for my tortoise and I also drove by someone's van to see if she, and her dog, were there. They were so we had a visit, I provided a few supplies before heading home to eat lunch and start working at my desk... Bottled waters, Premier protein shakes, large bag of recyclables, chicken jerky treats, Inaba Twins, wet dog food, buffalo tendons and bully sticks were shared.
Other than the strong Santa Ana winds, it was a beautiful day today. I drove over to the East side and parked on Massachusetts, in front of the kennels, at the Path of Life Community Shelter. I visited with six dogs who have companions in the shelter and one whose companion is still on the streets. I provided waters, treats and chew sticks for all and supplies for others. When I left that location, I drove out to Staples to pick up a couple of things I needed before continuing on to our storage units for pet food and waters. I drove home from there and unloaded most of what I had gotten leaving some things in my vehicle to distribute on Sunday. Later, I began emptying the drawers and cabinets in my old office furniture so a neighbor can come and remove it all in the morning. I will not be doing my daily travels tomorrow so I can be home for a delivery and then get my office 'resituated. 'I will still be taking phone calls, to schedule spay/neuter appointments and answering any other calls, texts or emails that come in... Bottled waters, puppy training pads, chicken jerky treats, Inaba Twins, bully sticks, bully slices, kabob chew sticks and squeaky Kong ball were shared.
We did not have anyone in rooms at the Motel6, last night, but some people who were staying there asked if I was going to visit. I usually do go on Thursday's so I was happy to meet with them. I visited four pets that were staying with their companions in two different rooms. I also provided supplies. I was supposed to go to meet someone else, across town, with her dog but she did not get in touch with me this morning. I called the number she contacted me from yesterday but it belonged to a friend and he did not know where the woman was. I told him I was just going to run some errands and go home and would have to catch up with her another time. The companion actually called me, when I was on my way home, and I told her we could meet on Sunday. I will not be working on Saturday but suggested she contact me for a time and place for the following day. I am supposed to meet other people that day too so I need to coordinate the times. While I was on my way home, I also drove through an area of Jurupa Valley. I saw a van parked and thought I would visit the dog that stays with her companion there but nobody was around. I continued on to the (empty) PO Box and then home. My dog is on the mend but the ear cleaning, and meds, will take awhile to fully work so I wanted to get back to him and do whatever work needed to be done from home... Bottled waters, paw rub, tear stain wipes, chicken jerky treats, 20lb. bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, Inaba Twins, bully sticks, buffalo tendons and kabob chew sticks were shared.
Three female dogs, one male dog and two female cats had confirmed appointments for 'the works' today. The gentleman with the two cats was waiting for me when I arrived. I was hoping that meant we would be off to a good start, this month, but that was not the case. The companion of the male dog changed her mind. He was in her vehicle but just to keep her other dogs company. She said she wasn't planning to breed him but did not want to neuter him. I told her I would not do the female if she was not going to do the male and she chose to leave rather than do the right thing. I understand it was important to spay the female too but if she is going to be irresponsible with the male then I prefer she find help elsewhere. The other two female dogs were supposed to come with two different people. Both stay in the river bottom near each other out by the Riverside/Colton line. Neither showed up or answered texts and calls. When all was said and done, four appointments were wasted, one was unable to be completed but both cats received everything they needed, even though just one got spayed. When I left the clinic, I went home for a bit and then took my senior dog to the vet. Turned out he needed his ears cleaned out again and I had to get meds for him too. Hopefully he is feeling better very soon. "One by one we get them done, because the only way to combat pet overpopulation and euthanasia in our shelters is to spay and neuter.". Bottled waters, ARCO fuel card, wet cat food, 17lb. bag of cat food from the Star Milling Company and cat toys were shared.
