Friday's Furry Friends 9-30-2022

I decided to go straight to Massachusetts on the Eastside this morning and not go looking for people and pets at Fairmount Park. When I was at the Path of Life Community Shelter on Friday, one of the dog's there was in need of a brush. She is a Husky and they seem to need extra attention with their fur. I had my daughter purchase a Furminator brush at PetSmart. It is an expensive brush but I know it works. Her companion said he would keep it with him in a backpack so it did not get stolen so I thought it was worth it. I had a few dogs to visit on Massachusetts but I really wanted to get the brush to 'Kira' and her companion. Unfortunately, he had to go somewhere so I did not get a chance to give it to him. I will try again on Monday. While I was at that location, I visited with six other dogs and distributed supplies. I also photographed and recorded a stray that has been hanging around the homeless in the area. She has been there for approximately 3 weeks. I scanned her twice but the scans were brief, due to her not being comfortable with me sliding something up and down her neck/back area. I did not find a micro chip but that does not mean she doesn't belong to somebody. I posted her video and photos and put a call in to Animal Control. I know the shelters are full but this dog is running up and down busy streets following one homeless gentleman in particular. I have seen many dogs struck by cars and trucks there. I do not know if Animal Control will pick the dog up but if they do, the Sargent told me he will notify me so I can share an impound number for possible rescue. After leaving the Eastside, I went home to give my dogs a little outdoor break and then headed across town to get the grey out of my hair for a while. Never made it to the PO Box but will most likely go tomorrow. Waters from Niagara Bottling Company, pet bed, small dog leash, Inaba Churu bites for dogs, Inaba tuna fillets, Inaba Twins for dogs, 2-small bags of dog food, chicken jerky treats, bully sticks and kabob chew sticks were shared.

Thursday's Treasures 9-29-2022

I had five pets to check on at the Jurupa Valley Motel6, this morning. There were two female cats and a male dog that received 'the works' and two other dogs that were micro chipped, vaccinated and flea&tick treated. I checked on all three of the dogs but when I knocked on the door of the room where the cats were, I got no answer. The phone in their room was not working and their cell went straight to voicemail. I was disappointed not to be able to check on the cats but there was not much I could do about that. Because I did not get much accomplished, I had through about driving over to one of the homeless encampments a few miles away but I was not sure I would be able to make it to a personal appointment I had so I just went home for a bit instead and then went to my appointment. Afterwards, I stopped at our PO Box and then called it a day... Waters from Niagara Bottling Company, chicken jerky treats and kabob chew sticks were shared.s

#1803 to #1808 Get Spayed/Neutered & More 9-28-2022

Due to a need to cut back on our expenses, I limited the number of pets scheduled for spay/neuter services. This still gave us a total of 23 for September which is about half of what we did the past couple of months. Last month we did 48 pets and the month before we did 40 but twenty-three is still a number to be grateful for!... We provided services for nine pets today. Six were receiving 'the works' and three were getting vaccination, microchips and flea/tick treated. I started at the Riverside County Department of Animal Services Spay/Neuter Clinic where two female cats were having their 'spay day'. After a quick stop at home, I drove over the Mary S. Roberts Pet Adoption Center spay/neuter clinic where three cats were having their 'spay day' and one male dog was getting neutered'. In addition to the spays and neuter, there were three dogs that needed a combination of vaccinations and flea & tick treatments. Two of them were also in need of microchips. All of the pets needed supplies and those were given to their companions…."One by one we get them done, because the only way to combat pet overpopulation and euthanasia in our shelters is to spay and neuter... Waters from Niagara Bottling Company, ARCO fuel cards, 2 pet beds, Inaba tuna fillets, Inaba chicken fillets, 17 pound bag of cat food from the Star Milling Company, chicken jerky treats, bully sticks, bully slices, one small and one medium dog collar, Max and Neo medium dog collar, three leashes and wet kitten food were shared.

Tuesday's Treasures 9-27-2022

Today was not all that productive but it was not from a lack of trying. I went to our storage units around 7am to pick up waters, cat food, dog food and a selection of Inaba pet treats. From there I went home to unload most of those items and reload for today's travels. I drove to Fairmount Park, Center Street and then to a river bottom outlet in an industrial area of Jurupa Valley but I was unable to find anyone with pets. While in Jurupa Valley, I checked our PO Box and went to a large parking lot where I knew there would be a family with their cat and dogs. When I first arrived, all but one of the dogs was there. The last one showed up not too long after. He had been out with his companion. I headed home after that to do some yard work, before the triple digits hit and so I could coordinate the spays and neuters for tomorrow... Waters from Niagara Bottling Company, body wipes, Inaba tuna fillets, Inaba chicken fillets, Inaba Twins for dogs, small bag of dog food, small bag of kitten food, chicken jerky treats, bully sticks and cat toy were shared.

Monday On The Move 9-26-2022

I began today's travels on the Eastside by the Path of Life Community Shelter where I visited with three pets and distributed supplies for them and others. From there, I went to a nearby location and spent time with another pet. I looked for people with pets at Hunter Park even drove around for about half an hour but was not successful. I still had one more pet I was hoping to catch up with and he was in Jurupa Valley. I was able to contact his companion and made a stop there, before heading to our PO Box and then home... I spent my morning 'giving service' but did not attend any services today. I was not in the Synagogue or following via zoom but I did the next best thing which was put my Judaism into action... Last night was the start of the Jewish New year. The holiday is called Rosh Hashanah. For many years, I was at the Synagogue with my family on this day and again on Yom Kippur which is the Day of Atonement. I don't really have any family to go with these days and I don't love zoom services so I haven't been doing much to keep up with the traditions. I haven't even been making holiday dinners or breaking the fast anywhere. That being said, I was invited to dinner this evening and I am most grateful for the invitation and the opportunity to spend time with people who I call my 'temple family'... Waters from Niagara Bottling Company, 2 dog beds, Churu bites for dogs, Inaba Churu pops for dogs, Inaba tuna fillets, wet dog food, Inaba Twins for dogs, 20-pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, chicken jerky treats, bully slices, bully sticks and kabob chew sticks were shared.

Sunday On The Streets 9-25-2022

Before I stopped to visit pets today, I met someone from Inaba at my storage units. She came with a car load of cat and dog treats that are very much appreciated. While I was there, I grabbed a couple cases of water, some of the treats and a few bags of pet food. From there, I drove to Wilderness Avenue where I was meeting someone from the river bottom. I spent some time with one of her dogs and distributed supplies for him, some kittens and some cats. My next stop was out in Jurupa Valley. There were five pets there and I distributed supplies for all but only visited four. I was going to make another stop but could not find the person and pet I was looking for. I had a full vehicle to unload, things to do at home and it was heating up so I cut my travels a little short and called it a day... Waters from Niagara Bottling Company, Can of KMR1, pet nursing bottle kit, Churu bites for dogs, Inaba Churu pops for dogs, Inaba Churu bites for cats, Inaba Churu ropes for cats, Inaba Churu pops for cats, Inaba tuna fillets, wet dog food, wet cat food, Mother &Baby wet cat food, 17 pound bag of cat food from the Star Milling Company, 20-pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, chicken jerky treats, bully sticks, dog toys and squeaky dog toys were shared.

Saturday's Smiles 9-24-2022

I was supposed to meet someone around 9am but before I left the house, he let me know it wasn't going to work out. The only other plan I had was to go over to Center Street. On my way there, I drove through Fairmount Park and then Reid Park but did not find anyone with pets. When I arrived at Center Street, I was not able to visit with a couple of dogs that I usually see there, because their companion had somewhere else to be this morning. Three other dogs I visit at that location were there and I was able to visit and distribute supplies. There were three other dogs there as well. I knew one of them but did not know she would be at that location. One of the other two was very friendly and happy to have treats. The other dog was very attached to his companion and would not stay with us while he was up the street. I spent quite a bit of time there and then headed out to Jurupa Valley. I tried to connect with the companion of a dog I wanted to visit but got her voicemail when I called. It was now 11am and heating up so I went to our PO Box and then called it a day. Waters from Niagara Bottling Company, 2 dog beds, Churu bites for dogs, Inaba Churu pops for dogs, 2 small bags of dog food, wet dog food, 20-pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, chicken jerky treats, bully sticks, kabob chew sticks and chicken & cheese chew sticks were shared.

Friday's Furry Friends 9-23-2022

My first stop of the day was at Fairmount Park, I drove all around but did not find anyone with pets until I was getting ready to leave. That is when I ran into a furry family of three. I had bought a couple of Halloween tees for pets and I gave one of them to a dog at that stop. The second one went to a dog at my next stop which was on the East Side next to the Path of Life Community Shelter. While I was there, I visited with five pets and distributed supplies. I drove around a couple other areas on the Eastside but did not see anyone with pets. Because I had an 11am appointment to get my third Covid booster, I only had enough time to run home and give my dogs a quick potty break. They got their break and I got my booster. I also checked our PO Box but it was empty and I went headed back home. My daughter was coming over for an early dinner and to drop off some dog beds she picked up for me. Family visits are always something I look forward to. Some are long and some are short but all of them make me happy and I know they do the same for my dogs... Waters from Niagara Bottling Company, large bag of recyclables, Halloween dog tees, Inaba Churu bites for dogs, Inaba Churu pops for dogs, small bag of dog food, chicken jerky treats, bully sticks, kabob chew sticks and Inaba Churu pops for cats were shared.

Thursday's Treasures 9-22-2022

Last night we reserved four motel rooms. Three of those were for the pets that received 'the works' and one was for someone who did not get a room when we were reserving them for relief from the heat. This gentleman has four small dogs and one large dog. I had not seen them in quite some time and was going to catch up with them at the Salvation Army this morning but gave them a room instead. This companion continues to take such great care of his fur babies and I was glad we could give them a night of comfort. After my visits with that family and the other three dogs, I was preparing to leave. As I was pulling out of a parking space, I noticed a woman holding a dog and a gentleman with her walking two others. The woman had been watching me earlier so I wasn't sure if she might be looking for help. I put the window down and asked her if she was wanting to talk to me. She asked what I did and I told her. She said the dog she was holding needed neutered but her two eleven-year-old females were already spayed. As it turned out, the senior dogs had not had vaccinations updated in a very long time and neither was micro chipped or licensed. I pulled my vehicle back in to a parking space and got out to visit for a bit. The dogs all got treats and we agreed that the male would get 'the works' this Wednesday. In addition, the females would get, flea & tick treated, micro chipped and have their vaccinations updated. Because two of the dogs were already altered, I gave them supplies too. Often times, when I stop and speak to people, I find out that they need services. I used to be hesitant to approach most of them but not anymore. It is always worth asking, just in case. Some people don't like it and in cases like that, I just continue on my way….Waters from Niagara Bottling Company, Mc Donald's gift card, Inaba Churu bites for dogs, Inaba Churu pops for dogs, Inaba Twins for dogs, 4 small bags of dog food, 2-20 pound bags of dog food from the Star Milling Company, stainless steel pet dish, collapsible pet dish, Tiller Tugs leash, Tiller Tugs tug toy, chicken jerky treats, bully slices, bully sticks, kabob chew sticks, 2 crate liners, 2 blankets and a small plush squeaky toy were shared.

#1800, #1801 and #1802 Get 'The Works' 9-21-2022

The plan to cut back on the number of spay/neuter surgeries this dropped below what I had planned but we still reached 🎉#1800🎉 today! I am so very grateful for that! We had four pets scheduled for 'the works'. Three dogs and a cat. We thought they were all females but the cat turned out to be a male. Not only that but he was already neutered and microchipped so his owner will be contacted. By the time I found put, it was too late to put another pet in his place and was just thankful for the three we were able to assist. "One by one we get them done, because the only way to combat pet overpopulation and euthanasia in our shelters is to spay and neuter." Waters from Niagara Bottling Company, ARCO fuel cards, Inaba Churu bites for dogs, Inaba Churu ropes for dogs, Inaba Churu bites for dogs and a small leash were shared.

Tuesday's Treasures 9-20-2022

At 7am, I pulled in to our storage units to pickup supplies. From there, I drove home to unload my vehicle and then fill it with supplies for today's travels. On my second trip out, I headed to the Motel6 in Jurupa Valley. I wanted to visit some pets staying nearby in their van. They were sleeping but got up for the visit. I also wanted to look for the woman who did not show up for her dog's spay appointment this past Wednesday. I wanted to know if she thought she could get a ride tomorrow and if not, I was going to try and find her one. When I walked to the area where her encampment was, I found nothing there but lots of trash. The tents that were back there were all gone and nobody was around. It is probably just as well, because I am trying to cut way back on spay/neuter surgeries due to the lack of incoming donations but I was trying to get six in this week anyway. That is about half of what I have been doing. Right now, I have four confirmed appointments. I hope everyone shows up and on time. I haven't seen my son since the 31st of July and he is coming here tomorrow. Family time means everything which is why I will be sure to be home when he arrives. Waters from Niagara Bottling Company, body wipes, , Inaba Churu pops for dogs, Inaba Churu ropes for dogs, Inaba Churu bites for dogs, Inaba Churu bites for cats, wet cat food, wet dog food, chicken jerky treats for dogs, kabob chew sticks, peanut butter chew sticks, chicken and cheese chew sticks and chicken flavored dental sticks were shared.

Monday On The Move 9-19-2022

Most of my morning was spent on the Eastside next to the Path of Life Community Shelter. I visited with six dogs and distributed supplies. I was meeting one of the dogs for the first time and let her companion know the services and supplies we offer. She needs a few things I did not have with me as did someone else who was there. I will go to our storage units for a couple of those items and bring them on Friday. When I left the Eastside, I drove out to the Mary S. Robert's Pet Adoption Center clinic in order to meet someone whose puppy needed to begin vaccinations. We were not exactly sure how old she was and I also needed them to inform me when she could be spayed. As it turned out, she is already old enough and is scheduled for surgery on Wednesday. My finals top was at our PO Box and then I headed home. Waters from Niagara Bottling Company, collapsible pet dish, pet rain jacket, small dog collar, 2 small dog leashes, Inaba Churu pops for dogs, Inaba Churu ropes for dogs, Inaba Churu bites for dogs, 3 small bags of dog food, wet dog food, chicken jerky treats for dogs, bully sticks, kabob chew stick, squeaky dog toy and plush squeaky dog toys were shared.

Sunday On The Streets 9-18-2022

This is a long read. It felt like a long morning... Before I hit the streets today, I was searching local stores for something I wanted for baking cookies. I was not far from my home when I saw a gentleman I often see. He run and he has two dog that run leashed to his belt. As they were approaching, I saw a shepherd looking dog chasing them and the gentleman trying to get the dog to leave. I pulled up next to them and starting honking my horn hoping to scare the dog off. It did not work so I pulled over. I had treats and was going to try and distract the dog but the jogger seemed to have it under control by then so I continued down the street. That is when I saw another dog. I guess this one was originally running with the other. A woman was standing by that dog but said it wasn’t hers. It was another shepherd. It was friendly enough for me to check for a chip but it did not have one. Even though it seemed to walk find, its foot was bloody. The woman said she would stay with the dog, in hopes of an owner coming by to look for it. (I later found out someone did!). In the meantime, I put in a call to Animal Services. An AC Officer was unable to find the dog chasing the jogger. I hope the owner was able to find this dog too but I am grateful the dog with the injured paw went home... I finally went out about 9am and headed over to Crestmore and Mission. There are encampments on both sides of Mission and I wanted to make stops at two of them. When I got to the first one, I found a dog I have had well checks done on in the past. She was on a very short tether once again and I had words with her companion. Even when I said the dog needed water, she put a bowl out that had dirt in the bottom of the water. After I realized my arguments were not going anywhere, I left food and waters for all three of her dogs and for another dog staying nearby. When I got home, I sent a photo of the dog on the short tether to a Sergeant at DAS and explained the situation today. I had not seen this woman and her dogs since July and I when I found more of the same type of neglect, I knew I had to report again. When I was done at that location, I drove across the street and parked to the side of the bridge. I visited with four dogs there and distributed supplies. I drove through Fairmount Park after that and found a gentleman I know sitting on a bench with his dog. They were living in his car but he totaled it so he was not sure what they were going to do next. I am just glad it is not in the triple digits. From there, I was on my way home when I spotted a gentleman in a doorway on Mission Avenue in Rubidoux. There was a stroller next to him so I knew his dog was there too. I drove up the street, did a u-turn and went back for a visit and to distribute supplies. I only had two bottles of water in the insulated bag and one was the frozen bottle I use to help the others stay cold. I gave them both bottles. When all of the waters are gone, it is always time to call it day. Waters from Niagara Bottling, 60-foot trolley cable tie out, body wipes, puppy training pads, Inaba Churu pops for dogs, wet puppy food, small bag of puppy food, 2-20-pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, 2 small bags of dog food, Inaba Twins for dogs, wet dog food, chicken jerky treats for dogs, bully sticks, chicken and cheese sticks and kabob chew sticks were shared.

Saturday's Smiles 9-17-2022

I was contacted yesterday by someone who wanted to meet this morning. My first stop was for her. She brought one of the dogs to visit and I gave her supplies for her other one as well. When I left that location, I drove through Fairmount Park but when I did not see anyone with pets, I continued driving to Center Street. I thought someone who texted me yesterday was going to be there with her dog but that was not the case. However, there were five other dogs there so I spent time with them. I gave a squealy ball to one of the dogs and while we were playing, it rolled under something so we could not find it. His companion said he would find it later but that dog followed me all the way down the street to where I was parked and then sat behind my vehicle. I guess he was not leaving without something squeaky so I gave him the same plush squeaky toy I had given to another dog there. These pets really know how to get what they want from me. LOL. I was thinking about making another stop but decided to save it for tomorrow. I did drive through Reid Park on my way to run a few personal errands but all I saw was families with children playing sports there so there was no reason to stop... Waters from Niagara Bottling, Inaba Churu pops for dogs, wet cat food, 20-pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, wet dog food, chicken jerky treats for dogs, bully sticks, kabob chew sticks, squeaky tennis ball and plush squeaky dog toys were shared.

Friday's Furry Friends 9-16-2022

Not sure what is going on but people feeling as if I owe them and that they ‘entitled’ to whatever suits their needs is beyond me. I am talking about a number of people and they are not all homeless…My first stop was at a facility where I went to visit a dog and her companion. There was a woman out front with a beautiful Pitbull. I gave the dog a few treats and then the woman mentioned the dog was in heat. I said she should get the dog spayed. She said she would have a house soon and was breeding the dog. I had all I could do to stay calm but I mentioned all the dogs that are being euthanized in our shelters and that breeding is a horrible idea. She said she already has buyers for the puppies when she breeds. I told her the problem is that when people buy her puppies they do not adopt and then so many lose their lives. She just shrugged her shoulders!! I cannot understand the selfishness, especially after someone provides information about why something is a problem…From there I went over to the Path of Life Ministries Community Shelter and was visiting with some dogs when a text came in. This came from the companion of one of the dog’s that received ‘the works’ on Wednesday. Because her companion did not get to clinic at animal services to pick her up, they did not get a room that night and I did not see the dog yesterday. This woman still seemed to expect a motel room for both nights she was promised, even though the dog was not with her the night she was spayed. I did provide a room last night but she did not check into it until after 8pm. I said I would do my best to make it over there before check out and then she texted me early this morning to say somebody had picked the dog up so she could go to work. She said she could meet me when she went to lunch. I told her that wouldn’t work and to just forget about it. Mind you, all conversations are done in text messages where nobody really knows your tone or intentions. I explained that this whole thing has been king of a mess and that I just hope her dog is doing ok. She soon sent me a Scathing message about how rude I am and how she doesn’t put up with BS from anyone. She just took it from me, because her friend referred her. She then told me I needed to ‘check myself’, because the next person might not be so patient. At this point I had to take a minute to cool off but I did reply that I Do Not take BS from anyone either and that included her and all the frustration she caused the past couple of days. Thankfully, I did not hear back from her but it got me in a mood.....Waters from Niagara Bottling, fleece blanket, medium dog harness, Inaba Churu pops for dogs, wet cat food, 20-pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, small bag of cat food, bully sticks, chicken jerky treats and kabob chew sticks were shared.

Thursday's Treasures 9-15-2022

Three of the dogs we provided services for yesterday were supposed to spend the night at the Jurupa Valley Motel6. Unfortunately, the companion of one of the dog’s, did not make to the Riverside County Department of Animal Services clinic to pick up her dog. Because of that, only two of the dogs that were spayed spent the night in a room and the other dog had to spend the night in a kennel at animal services. I do not allow people to have a room for the night, unless their pet is with them. If they cannot be responsible enough to pick up their pet on time, then they do not get a room until the have the pet with them. The dog that was not in a room last night will be in one this evening. If I have time, I am going to try to make it over to check on her before they leave there tomorrow. While I was at the motel, I also took a short walk to where another dog lives with her companions. This dog was supposed to get spayed yesterday but the appointment was never confirmed and there was no working phone to call or text. I was told that they could not get a ride. I would have appreciated a heads up about that but with no working phone I guess it wasn’t possible. I am hoping they figure it out for next week because I don’t want this dog to wind up pregnant again. When I left the motel, I drove out to the Riverside County Department of Animal Services to try and get information about the dog that was not picked up but they were in the middle of a power outage and had too much going on. I wound up making a stop at our PO Box and then went home for a few minutes before going back out for my bi-weekly nail appointment. I may not have much of a social life but getting my nails done is something I treat myself to anyway. Waters from Niagara Bottling, Taco Bell gift cards, Inaba Churu ropes for dogs, chicken jerky treats and kabob chew sticks were shared.

#1776, #1777,#1778 & #1779 Get 'The Works' 9-14-2022

I was excited about today. I was going to be making two trips to two different locations in order to take care of the pets I had scheduled. There were two female dogs scheduled for ‘the works’ at the Riverside County Department of Animal Services spay/neuter clinic and then one female cat, one male cat, one female dog and one male dog scheduled for the Mary S. Robert’s Pet Adoption Center spay/neuter clinic. If all had shown up, we would have provided a total of eighteen hundred and one pets with ‘the works’. Unfortunately, the person bringing the female cat had an emergency and we had to reschedule for next week. The male cat named ‘Benito’ was just ‘No Show’ with no call or heads up that they were not going to make it. When all was said and done, we provided services for 3 female dogs and 1 male dog brining our total to date to #1799. We have been spaying/neutering so many pets the past couple of months but due to the expense of that, I had to decrease the numbers. I would still like to go back to doing six or eight per week, if possible and this week we did six. Hopefully, we will get to #1800 next week! I am still grateful for all of the pets we have provided ‘the works’ for as well as other services and assistance over the past 10 and ½ years. “One by one we get them done, because the only way to combat pet overpopulation and euthanasia in our shelters is to spay and neuter.” Waters from Niagara Bottling, ARCO fuel cards, wet puppy food, bag of puppy food, 2 small dog collars, leash, small/medium dog collar, wet cat food, mother & baby wet cat food, chicken jerky treats, bully slices, chicken flavored dental sticks and bully sticks were shared.

I arrived at Van Buren Animal Hospital around 7:30am to meet someone who was supposed to bring her two kittens between 7:30 and 7:45am. When she was not there during the designated time, I called. She said they were stuck in traffic and would be fifteen minutes late. Twenty-five minutes later I texted and was told that her original ride flaked and she had to get a different ride. Once again, she said they were fifteen minutes away. I needed to be somewhere by 8:30am but postponed until 9am, in order to try and make it work. Her ride got her there right around 8:30am. I did a short video clip and took some photos, before going inside and letting Shirley know what services to provide. I left right after that and texted the companion stating she could call or text if she had any questions after pick up. I had planned to go by the Salvation Army and Fairmount Park too but I had to wait for someone to come to the house to do something with the gas meter. "One by one we get them done, because the only way to combat pet overpopulation and euthanasia in our shelters is to spay and neuter." Waters from Niagara Bottling Company, ARCO fuel card, wet kitten food and a bag of kitten food were shared.

Monday On The Move 9-12-2022

The only stop I made this morning was in front of the Path of Life Communities Shelter on the Eastside. I visited with five pets and distributed supplies for a few others. From there I drove to our PO Box to pick up a couple of donations and then I went home. I unloaded my vehicle, gave my dogs a potty break and then went back out to meet Christine Langdon at our storage units. She drove out to Perris, picked up a donation from the Star Milling Company, delivered it and then helped to get it unloaded. I can't express how much I appreciate the monthly donation and her willingness to help with getting it to us. Sunday On The Streets 9-11-2022

Last night I received a text from the companion of 'Kawasaki' and we arranged for a visit this morning. I was about one block away from their downtown apartment when I spotted someone with a dog. I had not seen them for a couple of weeks so I put down the passenger window and said I would come back after I was finished with what I was doing with another dog. I spent time with 'Kawasaki' and then drove over to where 'Koda' and his companion were. When I was done at that location, I drove through Fairmount Park. I noticed a vehicle where a cat named 'Handsome' lives with his companion. He needed a better fitting harness. I gave him a large harness/leash set but it was jut too big. I now had a medium for him to try on. That one fit. I distributed supplies, watched him enjoy an Inaba Churu pop and then got on the next freeway ramp headed toward Jurupa Valley. I drove past the mote but did not stop. Instead, I continued driving out near Agate Park where I caught up with a family and their fur babies. We had a visit, I distributed supplies and then headed home. Waters from Niagara Bottling Company, body wipes, medium stainless steel pet dish, chicken jerky treats for dogs, Inaba Churu pops for dogs, Inaba Churu bites for dogs, 3 small bags of dog food, wet dog food, wet puppy food, 20-pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, 17 pound bag of cat food from the Star Milling Company, wet cat food, medium cat harness with leash, Inaba Churu pops for cats, chicken flavored dental sticks, plush squeaky dog toy, Tiller Tugs squeaky tug toy, Tiller Tugs leash and bully sticks were shared.

I was grateful to see the triple digits drop to the high seventies this morning, but the humidity was so bad that it did not feel much cooler. My prescription sunglasses fogged up each time I stepped out of my vehicle and I have not had that happen before, unless I was wearing a mask. My central air at home is set at 78-80 degrees and it is still coming on so I am not sure how much of a break we got today…That being said, I had plans to visit a couple of locations, I did not let the slight drizzle or the humidity keep me from going out. My first stop was off of Mission and Crestmore at one of the river bottom outlets. I was not sure if they would be there because I did not know when their evacuation date was. It turns out that it is October 6th. so a few of the pets I hoped to visit were there. Three in particular were with other people today and a few were no longer camped in the area. After my visit, I drove through Fairmount Park and then out to one of the river bottom outlets in an industrial area of Jurupa Valley. Nobody with pets were at either location. I drove for a bit and then got on the 60 freeway and headed out to the Jurupa Valley Motel 6. I visited with nine pets and distributed supplies. All five of the 'bottle babies' were there but I only got to spend time with one. The rest were all sleeping. I also paid for a room with money from our 'Summer On The Streets 2022' online fundraiser. It is something I don't normally do on a week-end and there is a long story as to why. To sum things up, it had to do with someone fostering a puppy. My final stop was at the PO Box where I picked up a donation of wet dog food and chicken jerky treats for dogs. Waters from Niagara Bottling Company, ARCO fuel card, body wipes, STAT wound care spray for pets, 2 packages of potty-training pads, chicken jerky treats for dogs, Inaba Churu pops for dogs, 2 small bags of dog food, wet dog food, wet puppy food, 20-pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, pet toys, bully slices, bully sticks and kabob chew sticks were shared.

Friday's Furry Friends 9-9-2022

The temperature may not have been in the triple digits while I was out today, but the humidity made it feel like it was…..Even though I knew the woman wasn't feeding the homeless at Fairmount Park anymore, I still drove there to see if anyone with pets was in need of supplies. There were no people with pets so I continued driving to the Eastside. I stopped on Massachusetts by the Path of Life Ministries Community Shelter but nobody was outside with their pets so I did not stay long. I drove to Hunter Park next but nobody was there with pets either. I was about to try Reid Park when I received a text from someone at the homeless shelter asking if I was coming by. I wasn't too far away so I said I would drive back there. I was visiting with a couple of dogs and distributing supplies when one of the companions told me about someone needing help with a kitten. A few people have set up tents on Massachusetts again and this person was in one of the tents. She walked down the street to meet me and brought the kitten. I would estimate it to be approximately three to four months old but could not be sure. The companion said she was willing to let me neuter him and even though I normally don't give out supplies if a pet is not already neutered, I made an exception. In this extreme heat, I wanted to be sure the kitten had what it needed. I will think positive thoughts and hope the woman is able to arrange rides to make the neuter day possible. I offered her one night in the motel as well. I do not normally do that for one kitten/cat but I figure it can be paid for by funds raised for 'Summer On The Streets 2022'. When I left that location, I drove to Reid Park and when nobody was there with pets, I continued a few blocks to Center Street where I caught up with a couple of people and pets. When I was done with the visit, I headed home the long way and made one more drive through Fairmount Park. I did find someone with pets in one of the parking lots there so I pulled in, stayed for a visit and distributed supplies. I was headed home when I made one last stop at Staters to pick up more produce for me and my tortoise. I dropped the items off at home and then made one more trip out to check the PO Box and run a personal errand. Waters from Niagara Bottling Company, large bag of plastic recyclables, chicken jerky treats for dogs, Inaba Churu pops for dogs, small bag of dog food, wet dog food, 20-pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, wet kitten food, dry kitten food, Inaba Churu pops for cats, Inaba Chur ropes for cats, Inaba Churu bites for cats, kitty toys, small harness, kitty collar, small stainless steel pet dish, bully slices, bully sticks and kabob chew sticks were shared.

#1792 ܁ Get 'The Works; & Thursday's Treasures 9-8-2022

At 7:45am, I arrived at Van Buren Animal Hospital where Lupe Alcala was meeting me with a male and female cat that were coming in for 'the works'. I had someone coming to the house at 8:30 to do some work so I left as she was getting them checked in. I was home long enough to put the dogs out for their potty break and open the gate for the person coming over to do work and then I left again. I stopped at the store to pick up a few collar and leash sets and then I went by the Department of Animal Services. The department I needed was not open yet and I did not see any familiar faces through the window so I headed to the Jurupa Valley Motel6 to check on the four dogs that received 'the works' yesterday. While I was there, a couple pulled in the parking lot with a stray dog for me to scan. My scanner is no longer working properly so I could not read the numbers but I could see the dog was chipped. I asked them to take her to the shelter but they did not have fuel so I called Sgt. Jason Sanders and asked if he might be able to send someone to pick up the dog. He said he would pick her up. I was getting ready to leave when I spotted two familiar furry friends in the back of the parking lot so I spent some time with them. While I was doing that, someone came over to me with a dog that needs 'the works'. She is only three and I was told her previous owner had been breeding her. I took down the information needed to make an appointment and then I left. Sgt. Sanders later informed me that he picked up the dog and was reaching out to the owners…It had rained earlier in the morning and the humidity was terrible but overall, it was a good day. Now I just need to figure out what to do about replacing my microchip scanner…. "One by one we get them done, because the only way to combat pet overpopulation and euthanasia in our shelters is to spay and neuter." Waters from Niagara Bottling Company, chicken jerky treats for dogs, Inaba Churu pops for dogs, wet dog food, 20-pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, wet kitten food, dry kitten food, small squeaky Kong ball, plush squeaky toy, bully slices, bully sticks and kabob chew sticks were shared.

While I was on my way to the Riverside County Department of Animal Services spay/neuter clinic I received a text saying they were running late due to traffic. I asked how late and they said around 8am. I arrived around 7:40. At 8:10 they texted that they were about five miles away. I could not continue waiting so I told them I would be going home to feed my dogs and would return when I was done. At 8:30am they texted that they arrived. I was back there by 8:45. We got their two dogs checked in and I headed over to the Mary S. Robert's Pet Adoption Center spay/neuter clinic. There were four people meeting me there at 9:15. One gentleman had a male and female dog getting 'the works' and a female dog getting her vaccinations updated. There were tow other people coming. One with a female kitten and the other with a female cat. Everyone arrived right around the time we were scheduled to meet and at 11:15, the pets getting surgery were checked in and the dog getting the 'well check' was done. While we were waiting to get checked in, I called Actors and Others for Animals and got a pledge to help lower our cost for the surgeries. We really appreciate their help! "One by one we get them done, because the only way to combat pet overpopulation and euthanasia in our shelters is to spay and neuter." Waters from Niagara Bottling Company, ARCO fuel cards, potty training pads, collars and leash and collar set were shared.

Tuesday's Treasures 9-6-2022

We did not do any spaying/neutering today as Van Buren Animal Hospital had a couple of lengthy surgeries to perform. I already planned on started to cut back the numbers of pets we do per week, because the cost is becoming too much for the amount of money we take in. The cut backs started with my not taking any animals to Van Buren Animal Hospital tomorrow and cutting back to two or three there on Thursday. I do have two appointments scheduled at the Riverside County Animal Services spay/neuter clinic tomorrow as well as four more at the Mary S Robert's Pet Adoption Center spay/neuter clinic. My goal is to keep the appointments between 6 and 8 per week. I think things will slow down at some point on their own anyway…In the meantime, I used today for starting and updating vaccinations as well as getting the pets flea/tick treated. There were supposed to be seven dogs and a kitten. Two of the dogs were no shows, event though I saw them yesterday and their companion agreed to be there. One of the dogs needed to wait another week for the next vaccination but we were able to get three dogs and the kitten in…I was unable to reach one of the companions of a dog that is supposed tog et 'the works' tomorrow so I put a kitten in her place. If all goes as planned, we will be providing services for four dogs and two cats. Time will tell…Waters from Niagara Bottling Company, potty training pads, bag of kitten food, wet kitten food, wet Mother & Baby cat food, chicken jerky treats for dogs, medium stainless steel pet dish and kabob chew sticks were shared.

Monday On The Move 9-5-2022

It was so hot this morning that even my phone got a bit overheated. It did not stop me from doing what I needed to do but I was very happy and grateful each time I got back in my air-conditioned vehicle. Monday mornings usually start out on the Eastside by the Path of Life Ministries Community Shelter. When I went today, there was nobody outside with their pets. There was one person in the parking lot who has a cat and a dog in the kennels there so I gave her supplies before I went to the next location. My daughter had told me about some people she had seen with a puppy. She said they were parked in a lot on the Eastside so I went there next. They were not around but another gentleman was. I left one of my contact cards with him. The next two places I drove to were Hunter and Reid Park. There was nobody with pets at either. I decided to drive a little further and went over to Center Street. I wanted to confirm that a couple of people were going to bring their pets to the clinic tomorrow to get flea/tick treated and have vaccinations updated. The police were there when I arrived but nobody got arrested and I was able to do what I needed to do there. I had not planned to go back to the Eastside but because I had not heard back from the companion of 'Scamp' and 'Joey', I changed my mind. Thankfully, all were alive and well. I had one last stop to make and that was the Jurupa Valley Regional Park. One of the families that we wanted to provide some relief from the heat with our 'Summer On The Streets 2022' online fundraiser was staying there for a couple of nights. The cost of two nights there is equivalent to one night at the motel so I offered to cover a couple of nights. There are electrical hook ups there, water and shade so it is a perfect place to be for those who can stay there. When I left that location, that ended my time on the streets so the rest of the day was spent updating social media, answering calls, texts and email, after having lunch with my daughter and Christine Ramirez. Waters from Niagara Bottling Company, body wipes, wet cat food, Inaba chicken stew for cats, wet dog food, 3 small bags of dog food, chicken jerky treats for dogs, Inaba Churu pops for dogs, Inaba Churu pops for cats, balls, bully sticks, bully slices and kabob chew sticks were shared.

Sunday On The Streets 9-4-2022

When I left home, I drove out to Valley Way in Jurupa Valley, with plans to visit a family that has been staying there lately. When I arrived and saw their van was not there, I called. (Guess I should have done that first). They told me that someone blessed them with a motel room for a couple of nights on the other side of town. I did not want to drive all the way over there and told them we would meet another day. I continued driving up Jurupa Road looking fir another family. They were where I visited last week so I stopped. I still had some free time and decided to drive back past the motel and down Mission Avenue towards Pacific Avenue. The person I was looking for has a motor home and she sometimes parks under the freeway overpass. I tried calling but her phone went straight to voicemail which is why I made the drive. Unfortunately, she was not there with her dog. I did not want to waste anymore fuel so I decided to call it a day. It was close to 11am and already in the upper 90's so I didn't mind ending my time a little early. Waters from Niagara Bottling Company, body wipes, small bag of kitten food, wet kitten food, wet cat food, Inaba chicken stew for cats, wet dog food, chicken jerky treats for dogs, Inaba Churu pops for dogs, Inaba Churu pops for cats, Inaba Churu bites for cats, Inaba Churu bites for dogs, bully sticks and bully slices were shared.

Saturday's Smiles 9-3-2022

It was already 90 degrees outside when I went to meet my first pet and her companion at one of the river bottom outlets in an industrial area of Jurupa Valley. While I was at that location, I met with another dog and his companion too. As I was leaving, a gentleman came up to discuss getting 'the works' for his dog. The dog was not with him but I wrote down all the information needed to make an appointment. I already have eight appointments made for next week with a few openings left. We will not be spaying/neutering at Van Buren on Tuesday but do have a couple of appointments set for Thursday. At This point, I will most likely be cutting out one of the locations on either Wednesday or Thursday so I can slowly get back to doing about six a week. That is what I used to do and much more realistic given our finances. When I left the Jurupa Valley Location, I drove out to Center Street to let someone know I received a license renewal email for his two dogs. Not sure why the email was sent to me but I relayed the message and hope they can get to the clinic on Tuesday when I am meeting with others to update vaccinations and flea/tick treat pets. I was actually going to look for some people my daughter saw yesterday on the Eastside. I was near Reid Park so I decided to drive through there first. I saw a gentleman with two adorable dogs and I stopped to inquire if he was staying in his car or just hanging out at the park. He was staying in his car and mentioned neither of his dogs were neutered. I made sure to give him a contact card. By this time, it was 100 degrees and I was really uncomfortable. I am grateful for an air-conditioned vehicle and the chance to get out of the heat when so many cannot. That being said, I still call it a day after a few hours. Waters from Niagara Bottling Company, ARCO fuel card, body wipes, Repel, beef sticks with cheese, harness with matching leash, fleece blanket, hard carrier, squeaky dog toy, large pet cooling pad, wet kitten food, wet cat food, wet dog food, Mother & Baby wet cat food, 17 pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, 20 pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, chicken jerky treats, Inaba Churu pops for dogs, Inaba Churu pops for cats, Inaba Churu bites for cats, Inaba Churu ropes for cats, cat toys, bully sticks and kabob chew sticks were shared.

Friday's Furry Friends 9-2-2022

Last Friday, the woman bringing oatmeal to the homeless was told to leave Fairmount Park. She did not have a permit so the police had her pack up and leave and then gave misinformation to those waiting to eat. I had a zoom type meeting with someone from the Office of Homeless Solutions. She was going to be sure the police department has the correct information to give to those seeking meals. I was also hoping to put the woman bringing oatmeal in contact with someone who can send her where she needs to go to apply for a permit. Nobody was at the park today. Unfortunately, I do not have her number and I can't reach anyone who does. I will continue trying. In the meantime, I continued driving to the Eastside. I parked next to the kennels outside the Path of Life Ministries Community Shelter. I visited with nine pets and distributed supplies to those in need. When I left that location, I drove to Hunter Park but nobody was there with pets. At 10am, I was meeting someone at the vaccination clinic but I had time to run a quick errand and pick up a few things from our storage units. On my way to storage, I spotted a familiar looking dog sitting next to a building with a couple of men. I pulled into the nearest parking lot and walked over to where they were. It was the dog I thought it was and after our visit, I gave his companion a few supplies. When I was done at storage, I went to the vaccination clinic to say hi to 'Cali' and her companion as well as authorize payment for her services. She had all of her vaccinations updated and was flea/tick treated. My daughter was coming over for lunch so I decided to head home, get my vehicle unloaded, enjoy my air conditioning and her visit. The rest of the day was spent, updating social meeting, answering emails, answering texts and calls, figuring out what I was doing tomorrow and working on the spay/neuter list for next week.Waters from Niagara Bottling Company, body wipes, pet wipes, LED collar tags, wet cat food, 3 small bags of dog food, 2 squeaky tennis balls, Inaba Twins for dogs, Inaba Churu pops for dogs, wet dog food, bully sticks and kabob chew sticks were shared.

Thursday's Treasures 9-1-2022

My first stop this morning was at the Santa Ana River Bottom Resource Fair. This past week, I spoke to Lorissa Villarreal from the Office of Homeless Solutions regarding the incident at the park last Friday. She mentioned the event. I told her I would not be able to set up a booth but that I would come by and drop off bookmarks with all of our contact information. While I was there, I walked up the hill to the trail and looked under the Mission Bridge. That is where I saw a dog I had not seen in quite some time. She was there with her companion and another gentleman. That person told me his dog just had none puppies and he might be needing help. He plans to have her spayed and would like to have the litter spayed/neutered before he gives them to people who said they want them. I explained that is going to be awhile. In the meantime, the two men and the dog I know walked with me to my vehicle. I got to visit with 'Honey Girl' and I gave both gentleman supplies for their pets. My next stop was the Jurupa Valley Motel6. I planned to visit the dog that received 'the works' yesterday and another that was in a room thanks to our 'Summer On The Streets 2022' online fundraiser. I was able to visit the dog that was neutered, as well as the other little dog that normally stays with him. The person in the 'SOS' room did not check in until very late last night so I thought it best not to disturb them and just let them rest. When I left the motel, I went home for a short time and then headed back out for a personal appointment and to go by the post office. I am already tired of the triple digit temperatures and will be grateful when they pass. The gratitude is for my little family and all the homeless with pets that I visit daily. Waters from Niagara Bottling Company, body wipes, cup of noodles, large fleece blanket, small dog bed, large crate liner, large pet cooling pad, large collar and leash set, large harness, small and large pet collars, small pet leash, Max and Neo dog leash, small bags of dog food, 2–20-pound bags of dog food from the Star Milling Company, wet dog food, Inaba Churu pops for dogs, kabob chew sticks and bully sticks were shared.
