There were five Wednesdays this month, so even with some 'no shows' we still provided 'the works' for 20 pets. We provided the services for 12 dogs and 8 cats. There were 8 female dogs, 4 male dogs, 5 female cats and 3 male cats. Five of the pets had their services paid for by Riverside County Animal Services Healthy Pet Zone Fund. They were all dogs and four of the five were females. We are so grateful for this fund that is giving us the opportunity to spay and neuter more pets... This morning, I went to the motel to check on four of the five pets that received 'the works' yesterday and to visit with two others. I provided supplies and then went to the nearest freeway onramp so I could head across town to our storage units. I picked up waters, toilet tissue, pet food and other pet supplies. From there I got fuel and then went to check our PO Box. Nothing there so I headed home to unload what I picked up at storage and reload for tomorrow's travels... Bottled waters, McDonald's fast food gift card, protein shakes, energy drinks, 2 doggie waste bags with flashlight leash clips , XL Kong squeaky ball, 2 cat charmers, wet dog food, 2-20 pound bags of dog food from the Star Milling Company, 17 pound bag of cat food from the Star Milling Company, wet cat food, wet puppy food, Inaba Churus, Inaba chicken fillets, Inaba tuna fillets, Inaba Churu Bites, bully sticks, buffalo tendons, collagen sticks wrapped in chicken and chicken jerky treats were shared.
This month had an extra spay/neuter day and we had five pets scheduled for 'the works' today. We also had a cat that needed microchipped. We already we provided 'the works' for her but there was confusion about needing at that time….Three people were bringing their pets to the Riverside County Department of Animal Services and two of them actually arrived a few minutes before I did. The third showed up soon after so we had everyone there. One female dog, one male dog and one female cat were all checked in by 8:15am. I went home briefly and then back out to the second clinic. We had one male cat and one female cat scheduled for 'the works' and as well as the cat needing chipped. Last week, the male cat was scheduled but did not make it in, because the person could not catch him. She caught him this morning but had him in a soft carrier and said he was really agitated. I did not want to take a chance on him being too aggressive to handle safely. I told her I would lend her a trap but she would have to get him out of the soft carrier and into the trap. It took awhile but she got him in there. It is always nice when everyone shows up for their appointments. It sure makes my day better! "One by one we get them done, because the only way to combat pet overpopulation and euthanasia in our shelters is to spay and neuter"... Bottled waters, ARCO fuel cards, small cat harness and leash set, large collar and leash set, small bag of kitten food, wet kitten food, Inaba Churus, Inaba Juicy Bites, Inaba Churu Bites, Inaba chicken fillets, Max and Neo m/l dog collar, cat toy and a plush squeaky dog toy were shared.
I was starting to be concerned, this morning, after driving around for nearly forty-five minutes and not seeing anyone with pets. I drove through Rubidoux, Fairmount Park, the downtown Salvation Army and the Kansas Adventist Church without seeing one wagging tail. Since I wound up on the Eastside, I drove around there for a bit. When I got to Victoria and University, I spotted the companion of 'Solo' so I pulled in to visit with them. From there, I went to another eastside location and saw 'Buddy' and 'Luna' with their companion. After a brief visit there, I drove back through Fairmount Park and Rubidoux but still did not see anyone with pets. I needed to go to mail something at the Jurupa Valley post office and when I was done, I drove a few blocks away to General Drive. I don't drive the dirt road into the field anymore but did park on the street and walk over to where a couple was with their dog. A ranger and two Path of Life staff members were there discussing housing. I played with the dog and then gave the couple supplies. As I was leaving, someone I have been looking for was walking up the street. This gentleman is the one with the dog I saw playing with in a Jack In The Box parking lot. I had a bubble blaster and was excited to give it to them. The dog is best friends with the female do I had just visited. The two of them chased each other around and were having so much fun that the companions said they would send me a video clip when the bubbles were being blown. I told him that was not necessary that I was just happy to give the dogs something that they could have fun with... Bottled waters, toilet tissue, wet dog, Inaba chicken fillets, 20 pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, buffalo tendons, collagen sticks wrapped in chicken, chicken jerky treats, Max and Neo medium/large collar, squeaky ball, XL Kong squeaky ball, plush squeaky toy and a bubble blaster were shared.
I decided not to go to the Path of Life Community Shelter on the Eastside, because the last time I went there was just one person there with a cat. I may go on Friday, depending on the need. I do go to Jurupa Valley to meet someone from the river bottom by the parking lot of Adams Motorsport on Market Street. I visited with both dogs and provided their companion with needed supplies, before heading out to another location in Jurupa Valley. I got on the freeway to speed up the drive and went to visit a family that stays near Agate Park. I visited with the dogs and one of the cats. They have dogs and cats so I brought supplies for all of them. I did not stay too long so I could go home and get changed to meet a friend for lunch. It wasn't the most productive day but I spent time with seven pets and had a relaxing meal with someone I have known for years so it was a good day... Bottled waters, bubble blaster, energy drinks, iced tea, canned pasta, canned pork and beans, large bag of recyclables, large trash bags, wet dog, wet cat, wet puppy, Inaba Churus, Inaba Churu Bites, Inaba Juicy Bites, Inaba chicken fillets, 20 pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, bully sticks, buffalo tendons, collagen sticks, collagen sticks wrapped in chicken, chicken jerky treats and individual bags of jerky treats were shared.
In two and a half weeks, we will be providing 'the works' for a mama dog and two of her puppies. This morning, I met with two of the three and their companion. I wanted to be sure the puppies had collars and leashes and that the mama had a sturdy leash. I was able to provide those items as well as additional supplies. When I left that location, I drove across town to a motel. Some of the people and pets from a couple areas of the river bottom were put in rooms and I went to bring them supplies. While I was visiting with one of the pets, a woman was walking a small dog in a stroller. She had a sign in it so I asked if she was homeless. She stated that she was temporarily in a motel room. Her dog was already spayed, chipped and vaccinated so I just gave her a few supplies. When I left that location, I drove around for a bit and when I did not see anyone with pets, I just stopped for fuel and then headed home... Bottled waters, protein shakes, energy drinks, iced tea, iced coffee, 2 small collar and leash sets, Tiller Tugs leash, cat toys, dog toys, small stainless steel pet dish, medium stainless steel pet dish, collapsible pet dish, doggie waste bags, small squeaky Kong ball, wet dog, wet cat, wet puppy, Inaba Twins dogs, Inaba Twins cats, Inaba Churus, Inaba Churu Bites, Inaba Juicy Bites, Inaba chicken broth, Inaba chicken fillets, Inaba tuna fillets, 2 small bags of small bites dog food, 2-20 pound bags of dog food from the Star Milling Company, 17 pound bag of cat food from the Star Milling Company, kabob chew sticks, collagen sticks, collagen sticks wrapped in chicken and chicken jerky treats were shared.
At 7am, I drove out to our storage units to pick up supplies. I drove back home to unload some of it and reload supplies for today's travels. On my second trip, I headed to Grand Terrace where I go most Saturdays. I visited with seven pets and provided supplies. From there, I went to Rubidoux. I drove all over. I was looking for a couple of people with pets and wanting to find out if anyone had seen the stray pug that I came across recently. I was unable to find anyone with pets so I did not learn anything about the pug. I continued driving through a few areas of Jurupa Valley and ended at our PO Box. I never did visit with any other pets but enjoyed my time with those I saw earlier... Bottled waters, zero calorie clear drinks, 20 pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, wet dog food, Inaba Churus, Inaba Churu Bites, Inaba chicken fillets, Inaba tuna fillets, collagen sticks, collagens ticks with chicken, buffalo tendons, high calorie nutritional gel, small collar, large collars and chicken jerky treats were shared.
When I arrived on the Eastside at the Path of Life Community Shelter, there was nobody in the parking lot with dogs. Both people I usually meet there have vehicles so I wasn't sure if they had gone to run an errand or something. As it turned out, one of them went back to the town she originally came from, because she did not feel safe in the shelter or around there. The other person's time was up and she is now back living in her vehicle. I told the second person that I would try to meet up with her, when I left the Eastside. When I was ready to exit the parking lot, I saw a woman carrying a carrier with her cat so I stopped to park and give them a few supplies. My next stop was going to be a couple of miles away where someone is living in her truck with her two dogs. On my way to them, I drove through Hunter Park and spotted a familiar van. I was not sure if they were awake but I pulled in and knocked on the window. They came out for a visit and I provided a few supplies, before continuing over to meet the woman in the truck. She is on the verge of getting into housing so I asked her to keep me posted. In the meantime, I visited and provided supplies. Next stop was at Fairmount Park to see the woman who just exited the Path of Life Community Shelter with her two dogs. I felt bad that she is back in her vehicle and hope someone is able to help her get into a motel or housing. When I left them, I drove to another area of the park so I could tell one of the dog's companion that a Tiller Tugs leash and collar were donated. I did not have them yet but let him know it would be soon. When I walked over to speak to him, I saw there a husky by the tables. He secured the dog and I went back to my vehicle to get a chip scanner. The dog was very friendly, did not want food or treats and was not chipped. I am hoping someone is looking for her and will be sharing her photo to various pages. I had a few personal errands to run and then checked our PO Box. I also looked for the gentleman I saw yesterday who was blowing bubbles for his dog. I wanted to tell him I ordered a bubble shooter but he and the dog were not there. I am sure we will catch up again soon... Bottled waters, small bag of Bil-Jac senior dog food, doggie waste bags with leash clip, wet cat food, cat toy, wet dog food, Inaba Churus, Inaba Churu Bites, Inaba Churu Pops, Inaba chicken fillets, Inaba tuna fillets, collagen sticks, buffalo tendons, kabob chew sticks and chicken jerky treats were shared.
My focus this morning was on the family of three dogs that received 'the works' yesterday. I drove out to the motel to check on them. The mama was still a bit groggy but the papa and puppy were their usual selves (according to their companion). I reminded him to let people know of the services we provide, being that I rarely get out to that area they stay. We visited and I provided them with supplies, before doing to another room at the same motel. I knew someone with a dog that was there and asked if she could use anything. She said yes so I went to visit and provide him with supplies too. When I left the motel, I drove out to the post office to check our PO Box. While on my way, I spotted a gentleman and his dog in a parking lot. The dog was chasing bubbles and it looked like he was having a great time. I drove back in that direction, when I left the post office. They did not need any supplies but I did give them waters, a few treats and a bully stick for the dog... Bottled waters, protein shakes, coffee drinks, energy drinks, juice,v8, canned pastas, canned fruit, canned soups, puppy training pads, doggie waste bags with leash clip, doggie waste bags with flashlight leash clip, large bag of dog food, small bag of puppy food, small bag of small bites for small dogs, wet dog food, Inaba Churus, Inaba Churu Bites, Inaba Fun Bites, Inaba chicken fillets, leash, bully sticks, collagen sticks, collagen sticks with chicken, kabob chew sticks and chicken jerky treats were shared.
A couple of weeks ago, I received a call from someone on the city's homeless outreach team. He came across a couple with dogs that needed services. They had a male, a female and one female puppy. There were more in the litter but the others had already been given away. The outreach worker told me the couple called Mary S. Robert's but could not afford to go there and wondered if there were any places to get assistance. I explained our program to him and he had one of the companion's call me. I scheduled all three at for 'the works' today at the Riverside County Department of Animal Services spay/neuter clinic. Their Healthy Pet Zone Fund would be paying for the mama's services and we would cover the other two and a two night motel stay. On my way to RCAS, I received a text telling me they were waiting for me in the parking lot. It was a great way to start the day. Once they were checked in, I made a brief trip home and then went back out to the Mary S. Robert's spay/neuter clinic. We had a male cat scheduled for 'the works' and were providing a microchip that got missed on a female cat we did last week. Unfortunately, when I arrived at the clinic, the person was not there with either pet. I texted and she said did not catch the male cat last night and did not see him this morning. I told her it would have been nice if she had texted me before I drove all the way over there wasting my time and fuel but that I would reschedule for next week if she guaranteed me she would be sure to have him. She said she would so I rescheduled and then drove back home. At 11:30, I had a lunch meeting with Tracey Cleary and Janene Purdie regarding fundraising. They are the only two who seem to be willing to help right now and I am hoping we can make something happen. "One by one we get them done, because the only way to combat pet overpopulation and euthanasia in our shelters is to spay and neuter"... Bottled waters, ARCO fuel cards, Max and Neo small dog collar, Max and Neo medium/large dog collar, two leashes and a plush squeaky toy were shared.
I spoke to the person who was unable to meet yesterday and we made plans to meet this morning. Before I went to do that, I drove through Fairmount Park. I stopped to visit and provided their companions with supplies for the two pets that were there. When I left the park, I drove to a river bottom outlet in an Industrial area of Jurupa Valley. The person I was meeting has four dogs a few cats. When her vehicle is running, she brings all of the dogs when we meet. The cats are a little much but I do provide her with food and supplies for both. From there I drove to our PO Box. I received an email that a donation from Chewy was there so I went to pick it up. When I left the post office, I made a quick stop at the store to pick up more produce for my tortoise and then headed home to make my lunch... Bottled waters, roll of large trash bags, wet cat food, wet dog food, wet puppy food, small bag of puppy food, 17 pound bag of cat food from the Star Milling Company, 2-20 pound bags of dog food from the Star Milling Company, Inaba Churu Rolls, Inaba Juicy Bites, Inaba chicken fillets, Inaba tuna fillets, Inaba Churu Bites, Inaba Churus, bully sticks, collagen sticks with chicken and chicken jerky treats were shared.
My day was supposed to start meeting with three dogs and their companion. This family also has feline 'siblings' so I was going to provide supplies for both. However, I waited, called and texted but was unable tor each anyone. This is a person who has been very reliable over the years so I was concerned…Fron there, I drove out to Grant Terrace to bring supplies to someone I was unable to assist on Saturday. He knows the person I had planned to meet with earlier. He said he saw her the night before and she was fine but probably just overslept. While I was with him, another gentleman rode up on his bike. He was not out when I was there Saturday but was also in need of cat and dog supplies so I gave him a few things. I was going to go to Fairmount Park but I was out of large bags of dog food and decided to drive to our storage units. I went to the nearest freeway onramp and headed that way. My vehicle was full so I needed to go home and unload, making a stop at our PO Box on the way... Bottled waters, large bag of recyclables, k9 Glucosamine chew, doggie waste bags with flashlight leash clip, Max and Neo medium dog collar, wet cat food, wet dog food, wet puppy food, 17 pound bag of cat food from the Star Milling Company, 2-20 pound bags of dog food from the Star Milling Company, Inaba Churu Rolls, Inaba Fun Bites, Inaba chicken fillets, Inaba tuna fillets, Inaba Churu Bites, Inaba Churus, buffalo tendons, collagen sticks with chicken and chicken jerky treats were shared.
At 5:30 this morning, I woke up to texts and emails from my bank stating that someone tried to use our charity debit/credit card for Meta pay. It was only for $5.00 and it was declined but they turned off my card ad said they were issuing a new one. It is the only card I have for the charity so this is a huge inconvenience. I now have to go to all of the sites where I have set up the card for payment and update some auto pays. Thankfully, I have use of the new card in my Samsung wallet which will help in an emergency. It just wasn't the way I wanted to start my day!... I am only able to visit 'Scamp' and 'Joey' on Sundays so I decided to drive to the Eastside this morning. On my way to visit with them, I looked for 'Solo'. I had not seen him recently and I did not have the correct phone number for his companion so driving around was my only option. I was able to find them so they were my first stop. After that visit, I drove to where the other two were. When I left that location, I headed out to Jurupa Valley. I drove around Rubidoux first, hoping to see the pug from the other day or to find some of the homeless who were there when I saw him. After about twenty minutes or so when I was unable to find any of those people or the dog, I continued to the family in Jurupa Valley. I visited with three of the pets there and provided supplies. I still had some time before I needed to be home so I drove out to General Drive and over near the Speedway Station on Jurupa and Van Buren. I had not luck either place and made my way home around 11:30am... Bottled waters, Canned pasta, REPEL bug repellent, doggie waste bags with flashlight leash clip, small bag of small bites dog food, small bag of adult dog food, wet cat food, wet dog food, wet puppy food, Inaba chicken fillets, Inaba tuna fillets, Inaba Churu Bites, Inaba Churus, buffalo tendons, bully sticks, collagen sticks with chicken, chicken jerky treats and a plush squeaky toy were shared.
Yesterday, I was contacted by someone in the river bottom near the Market Street bridge. He needed dog food and cat food so we agreed to meet, this morning, by the racetrack. He was on time and when we were done, I headed out to Grant Terrace. I visited with six dogs and provided supplies for a few others too. I had planned to drive around Rubidoux but I did not have time if I did not want to be late to meet a friend for lunch. I will get back to Rubidoux during the next couple of days... Bottled waters, socks, Benadryl caplets, small bag of small bites dog food, small bag of adult dog food, 17 pound bag of cat food from the Star Milling Company, 2-20 pound bags of dog food from the Star Milling Company, wet cat food, cat toy, wet dog food, Inaba chicken fillets, Inaba tuna fillets, Inaba Churu Bites, Inaba Churus, individual bags of dog treats, buffalo tendons, bully sticks, collagen sticks, collagen sticks with chicken, chicken jerky treats, Nerf ball shooter, package of squeaky balls, Tiller Tugs leash and Tiller Tugs squeaky tug toy were shared.
My first stop was the Path of Life Community Shelter on the Eastside. While there, I met a woman with a senior dog and two cats. The dog needs it's vaccinations updated for the kennels and both cats need 'the works'. I offered to do both. She has no transportation but will get back to me if she can figure that out. After my visit with them, I went back out to the parking lot where there were three other dogs and another cat. I was able to visit and provide needed supplies. When we were done, I spent about thirty minutes driving around the Eastside. I did not find anyone with pets so I drove to Rubidoux. I spotted a pug with a collar that was running around on one of the side streets. I pulled over but he kept running off so I got back in my vehicle and drove up the next block where I saw 'spud' and hos companion. While I was visiting with them, the pug kept coming over to where we were. He was eating treats but would not let me get close enough to scan him. I dumped out three containers of wet dog food and he ate all of them. I also filled one of the empties with water. I spent quite a bit of time trying to gain his trust but at one point he jut took off and went to the next block. I was told he has been in the area for two or three days. If someone is able to catch him, they will give me a call. In the mean time, I poste him a video and photo, in hopes of someone recognizing him. I don't like to see any dog running loose and scared but I worry more for the little ones that a car or truck might not see until it is too late. My final stop was the post office. Nothing there today but will check again tomorrow... Bottled waters, Premier Protein shakes, small bag of Hills Science Diet small bites 7+ dog food, small bag of small bites dog food, wet dog food, wet cat food, cat toy, Inaba chicken fillets, Inaba Churu Bites, Inaba Churus, kabob chew stick, buffalo tendons and chicken jerky treats were shared.
One of the things we have had to do to help us financially, is cut down the motel time we were providing for spay/neuter recovery. Years ago we did not offer any motel stays. Eventually, we started to provide three nights per female dog, two nights per male dog and the cats got a room for one night depending on an as needed basis. A few years ago, we changed the female dogs to two nights and kept the rest the same... Presently, we offer one night per male dog, two nights per female dog and we decide what to do for the cats on a case by case basis. That being said, on spay and neuter day, if anyone wants to pay for an extra night for any of the pets we post, I am happy to do that. We just can't afford the added expense anymore….This morning, I made my first stop at the Motel6. One of the pets did not stay there, because her companion had somewhere to go. Three pets did stay at the motel and I visited each of them as well as provided them with supplies. When I left that location, I drove to the parking lot of Riverside County Animal Services to meet someone who stays close by in the river bottom. Her brother is in rehab and I was bringing food for his dog. I also provided her with supplies for her cats. One of them was too small to be spayed, a few months back, but the plan is to get that done on Wednesday. My next stop was Staples, to drop off a return for UPS and then my last stop was our PO Box. Nothing there today. I will look again tomorrow or Saturday... Bottled waters, Premier Protein shakes, small bag of small bites dog food, wet dog food, small bag of kitten food, wet kitten food, wet cat food, 17 pound bag of cat food from the Star Milling Company, large bag of dog food, Inaba chicken fillets, Inaba tuna fillets, bully stick, buffalo tail, kabob chew stick, buffalo tendons, chicken jerky treats and a plush squeaky toy were shared.
We had five pets scheduled for 'the works; today. Two female dogs and one male dog at the Riverside County Department of Animal Services spay/neuter clinic as well as one male dog and one female cat at the Mary S. Robert's spay/neuter clinic. Everyone confirmed so I was hoping they would all show up. Unfortunately, that was not the case. I arrived at the Department of Animal Services at 7:30. One of the female dogs was a no show. I texted and called but nobody responded. I waited until 8:15 and then I left. I stopped home briefly and then made my second trip to the other clinic. The person with the cat and the people with the dog were both a little late but early enough to still make check in. I never did hear from the no show but was still grateful to get four pets the services they needed. "One by one we get them done, because the only way to combat pet overpopulation and euthanasia in our shelters is to spay and neuter"... Bottled waters, ARCO fuel cards, small bag of small bites dog food, wet dog food, small bag of kitten food, Inaba chicken broth for cats and plush squeaky toys were shared.
I drove through Rubidoux on my way to the Oath of Life Community Shelter, this morning. I did not see anyone at first but did find a gentleman with his dog on one of the side streets. I visited, provided supplies and then went to the shelter. I visited with and provided supplies for three pets there, before driving around the Eastside for about thirty minutes. When I was unsuccessful doing that, I head d to Fairmount Park. There were people with pets there so I stopped for a bit to visit and provide supplies. From that location, I drove to the store to get some produce for my tortoise, checked our PO Box and then called it a day. Tomorrow, I have two appointments at Kaiser so I have no plans for my daily travels but I will be meeting people and pets for spaying/neutering on Wednesday... Bottled waters, small bag of small bites dog food, chicken jerky treats, wet dog food, Inaba chicken fillets, Inaba tuna fillets, wet dog food, kabob chew sticks, collagen sticks, collagen sticks coated with chicken and buffalo tendons were shared.
I divided my morning between Fairmount Park and Grand Terrace. I went to the park first where I visited and provided supplies for two pets and their companions. From there, I drove out to Grand Terrace. I visited with and provided supplies for four dogs there. When I left that location, I drove to our PO Box in Jurupa Valley to pick up the package I did not get yesterday. It turned out to be small box that I would have had room for but did not know that when I originally saw the package slip. I will be taking the day off tomorrow so I can spend part of it with my children and granddaughter. I will be back out on Monday. Wishing those who celebrate a Happy Mother's Day, whether you are an animal mom a child mom or a combination of both... Bottled waters, sleeping bag, canned pastas, cans of soup, applesauce, pork and beans, chicken jerky treats, 20 pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, small bag of senior dog food, collapsible pet dish, large collar/leash set, Inaba Churus, Inaba chicken fillets, Inaba tuna fillets, wet dog food, kabob chew sticks, bully sticks, peanut butter chew sticks, collagen sticks, collagen sticks coated with chicken and buffalo tendons were shared.
First stop of the day was at the Path of Life Community Shelter, I met with three people there. One with two dogs, another with one dog and a third with a cat. We visited and I provided supplies, before heading a few miles away to look for someone who lives in her truck with two dogs. She was not feeling well when I arrived. Said she got food poisoning from a Subway sandwich. Not sure if that's what did it but I did not want to bother her for long. I visited with the dogs, provided a few supplies and then drove around the Eastside. I wasn't able to locate anyone else with pets so I made a quick stop at the store and then went to our storage units to wait for Cindy and Seth Cox to deliver our monthly Star Milling donation. (Thank You Cindy and Seth!). They stayed to unload and then we all left. While looking through a donation from VSI, I found about twenty five small bags of treats. They were for rabbits, hamster or guinea pigs. I did not have any use for them so I contacted Kimberlee with Foster Army Animal Rescue to see if they could use them. She said yes, so I dropped them off on my way back to Jurupa Valley. I made one last stop at our PO Box and saw there was a package slip. I am not sure how big the package was but my vehicle was completely filled so I will go b ack tomorrow... Bottled waters, training pads, large trash bags, chicken jerky treats, Inaba Churu Bites, Inaba chicken fillets, Inaba tuna fillets, Inaba chicken broth, wet cat food, small bag of cat food, wet dog food, kabob chew sticks and buffalo tendons were shared.
This morning was both hectic and productive. It began at the Riverside County Department of Animal Services spay/neuter clinic where we were providing 'the works' for two female dogs and one male dog. All showed up and were on time which is something I am always grateful for. However, while we were waiting, one of the homeless told me I had a nail in my rear passenger tire. I did not get any notifications of low pressure but there was definitely a nail. As soon as we were done, I called a local tire shop that told me to come right over. It took about thirty minutes for the repair. At that time, I drove home, fed my dog and then went back out. I headed to the Mary S Robert's spay/neuter clinic. We had one cat there for 'the works' and a dog there getting updated vaccinations, flea&tick treatment and a nail trim so he could sleep in the kennels at the Path of Life Community Shelter where his companion is staying. Before going to the clinic, I dropped some homemade cookies off at the adoption center to thank them for accepting 'LuLu' and her puppies into their program. When I got to the clinic, I provided needed supplies ad then got both the cat and the dog checked in. From there, I got fuel and went home to change so I could meet one of my oldest and dearest friends for lunch. Even the nail in my tire didn't stop today from being a good one! "One by one we get them done, because the only way to combat pet overpopulation and euthanasia in our shelters is to spay and neuter"... Bottled waters, ARCO fuel cards, harness, leash, collapsible pet dish, chicken jerky treats, Inaba Churus, Inaba chicken fillets and a 17 pound bag of cat food from the Star Milling Company were shared.
My first stop of the day was at Fairmount Park. I did not find who I was looking for but did visit with four dogs and their companions. One of the gentleman said a friend gave him a puppy a couple of weeks ago. He spoke broken English so it was hard to communicate. He told me he did not know the dog's name and had not picked a name yet. We started calling him 'Papa'. The puppy was microchipped and neutered so I sent the chip number to someone at Riverside County Animal Services just to be sure nobody had reported the dog as lost or stolen. Hopefully, it is neither. When I left that location, I drove out near Agate Park in Jurupa Valley to a family I usually visit on Sundays. I did not go this past Sunday, because I was at the Bagel Brunch. This Sunday is Mother's Day and spending it with my family is the plan so I went today instead. My final stop was the post office. The checks we have been waiting for still weren't there. I drove home, after that... Bottled waters, large trash bags, medium collar and leash set, Max and Neo fleece blanket, wet cat food, wet dog food, wet puppy food, 2-20 pound bags of dog food from the Star Milling Company, 17 pound bag of cat food from the Star Milling Company, chicken jerky treats, 2 small bags of small bites dog food, Inaba Churus, Inaba tuna fillets, Inaba Churu Bites, Inaba chicken fillets, collagen sticks, collagen sticks wrapped in chicken, kabob chew sticks, bully stick and buffalo tendons were shared.
I was supposed to meet a couple of people with pets, this morning. One was at the Path of Life Community Shelter parking lot and the other on Fleetwood in Jurupa Valley. I arrived at Path of Life around 9am. The person I was supposed to meet ran out of fuel and never made it but there were other people there with pets. One had a cat that was in the kennels. She is already spayed, chipped and vaccinated so I gave her companion supplies. The other had a dog. They are new to the shelter. He is 14, neutered and chipped but needs his vaccination updated for the kennels there. He also need flea/tick treated. We no longer offer updating vaccinations as a general rule but do it when someone is needing it for kennel purposes. I am hoping we can do it on Wednesday. I also visited with two 'regulars' there and gave them supplies too. When I left the shelter, I drove down the street to where I had seen someone earlier. She is trying to get herself and her dog into another facility. She was not in need of anything so I just visited and gave the dog a few goodies and a bully stick. From there I drove around the Eastside for about thirty minutes. When I did not see anyone with pets, I decided to run a personal errand, before heading to our PO Box in Jurupa Vallet. On my way to the post office, I drove up General Drive and visited with a couple of people and their pets. I gave each of them supplies but realized after giving one of them a large bag of dog food that his dog was not neutered. It did not feel right taking it back but I made it clear that there will be no more until he does the right thing. I have been expecting a couple of small grant checks but they have yet to arrive. I will keep checking and hoping that they do so in the near future... Bottled waters, wet cat food, wet dog food, chicken jerky treats, small bag of senior food, small bag of small bites dog food, 20 pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, Inaba Churus, Inaba tuna fillets, Inaba Churu Bites, Inaba chicken fillets, collagen sticks, kabob chew sticks, buffalo tendons and a bully stick were shared.
I was supposed to meet someone on Fleetwood in Jurupa Valley this morning but time got away from her and we will most likely meet on Monday now. I did drive out to Grand Terrace and visited with most of the pets that are at one of the encampments there. I also provided supplies. When I left that location, I went to meet a family at Fairmount Park. They have not been homeless for a few years now but we always try to visit every month or so. I don't get to keep up with all of the people and pets that get housing but I try to stay in touch with those who like to as well. From the park, I drove to the store and picked up more produce for my desert tortoise, checked our PO Box and then headed home. I am not going to be on the streets tomorrow. It is not because of family but I am going to the Annual Bagel Brunch, put on by the youth groups, at Temple Beth El, I will be back to my daily travels on Monday... Bottled waters, wet cat food, wet dog food, mama and baby wet kitten food, KMR Stage1 for kittens, 20 pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, 2-17 pound bags of cat food from the Star Milling Company, Inaba Churus, Inaba tuna fillets, Inaba Churu Bites, Inaba chicken fillets, chicken jerky treats, collagen sticks, collagen sticks wrapped in chicken, kabob chew sticks, peanut butter chew sticks, buffalo tendons and a dog toy were shared.
We had motel rooms for three of the four pets that received 'the works' yesterday. Before going to a dental appointment this morning, I went to check on those pets. In addition to the three, there were a couple others there as well. We had provided one of the with 'the works', some time ago, and she was sharing a room with her newly spayed 'sister'. The other dog was also one we provided 'the works' for a few years back. His companion rented them a room, last night. They heard me outside talking so they came out to visit and get a few supplies... I will not be doing my daily travels tomorrow, because I have a long Ophthalmology appointment scheduled, but I will be back out on Saturday... Bottled waters, socks, McDonald's gift card, canned tuna, canned pasta, soups, cereal bars, 2-20 pound bags of dog food from the Star Milling Company, individual bags of dog treats, Inaba chicken fillets, chicken jerky treats, wet dog food, wet puppy food, kabob chew sticks and buffalo tendons were shared.
Last month we provided 'the works' for 12 pets. There were 9 dogs and 3 cats. Six of the dogs were females, all three cats were females and three dogs were males. Four of the dogs were paid for by the Riverside County Department of Animal Services Healthy Pet Zone Fund….Today is the start of a new month. We had three female dogs schedule at the Riverside County Department of Animal Services spay/neuter clinic. I am pleased to say that all showed up and arrived on time. One of the dog's is being done with her five month old daughter. She is also the sister of two dogs we spayed/neutered last week as well as the sister to 'LuLu', the dog that had the litter of 10 now with a foster for Mary S. Robert's. There is still one more female and we will get her in next week. I normally don't do so many for one family but all of the females have had litters in the river bottom and I am doing my best to put a stop to it. When all is said and done, we will have spayed/neutered five females and one male for their companion…I made a brief trip home, after leaving the first location. My second trip was to the Mary S. Robert's spay/neuter clinic where I had a male cat scheduled for 'the works'. His companion showed up and was on time. Seems like May got off to a good start! "One by one we get them done, because the only way to combat pet overpopulation and euthanasia in our shelters is to spay and neuter"... Bottled waters, ARCO fuel cards, collapsible pet bowls, large collar and leash set, plush squeaky toys, 17pound bag of cat food from the Star Milling Company, wet cat food, cat toys, Inaba Churus, Inaba Juicy Bites and Inaba Churu Bites were shared.
