Thursday's Treasures 7-31-2025

During the month of July, we scheduled 27 pets for 'the works'. We had quite a few no-shows so our total for the month wound up being 17. There were 14 dogs and 3 cats. Ten female dogs, one female cat, four male dogs and one male cat will not be adding to pet overpopulation in the homeless community or our community at large... This morning, I went to the Jurupa Valley Motel6 to check on the three dogs that got 'the works' yesterday. I spent time with them and one other dog that happened to be at the motel. I was able to provide all with a few supplies. While I was outside with the last dog I visited, we had an earthquake. I thought it was a big truck going past the motel but then realized it wasn't. Thankfully, it was over quickly and didn't do any damage. When I left the motel, I drove out to Costco. The two items I went there for were not in stock and might have even been discontinued. I purchased some protein drinks and chicken jerky treats so it wasn't a wasted trip. I planned to go to our storage units afterwards but I decided to wait and do that tomorrow. My senior dog was having some issues earlier and I wanted to go home and make sure he was ok. Once again, he was as 'ok' as an old dog with a grade 5 heart murmur, kidney disease and allergies can be... Bottled waters, medium stainless steel pet dish, large stainless steel pet dish, chicken jerky treats plush squeaky dog toy, Inaba chicken fillets, wet puppy food, Inaba Churu Bites, kabob chew sticks, bully slices, bully sticks and a 20 pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company were shared.

#2,346, #2,347 & #2,348 Get 'The Works' 7-30-2025

We only had three pets scheduled for 'the works' today and that was due to the fact that there was not a vet available at the Mary S. Robert's spay/neuter clinic. The pets scheduled were all female dogs and I am pleased to say that both parties showed up on time. The first to arrive was a volunteer from Feeding Perris Strays. She transported for them. The dog needed a collar and leash so I took care of that. Thanks to the Healthy Pet Zone Fund, at the Riverside County Department of Animal Services, the cost for her services are covered. We just pay for the two night motel stay. The other two dogs are mother and daughter Great Danes. The companion of those dogs showed up on time. One of the dog's didn't care much for people and was dog aggressive. We had to borrow a muzzle for her and being her in a separate entrance by herself. It took awhile to get both of the dog's checked in but thanks to the helpful staff, at Riverside County Department of Animal Services, we were able to make it work. These two will go the the Jurupa Valley Motel6, for two nights, to start recuperating and I will check on them and the other dog tomorrow morning. "One by one we get them done, because the only way to combat pet overpopulation and euthanasia in our shelters is to spay and neuter." Bottled waters, ARCO fuel cards, medium collar, large leash, plush squeaky dog toys and a 20 pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company were shared.

Tuesday's Treasures 7-29-2025

My first stop, this morning, was in Rubidoux. I only made one more stop after that and that was Fairmount Park. The reason I did not go anywhere else is because there were nine pets at that location. Some of the pets I have known for a long time, some for a short time and then there were a couple I met for the first time. I discussed spaying/neutering with those who had pets that have not had either. Three of those pets needs spayed/neutered and one will be needing it within the next couple of months. Not everyone I offer these services to is receptive to the idea. Sometimes it is a flat no and other times it is a maybe. I am always thankful when someone is ready now and continue to make the offer to any pet companion who has an unaltered pet. Every now and then, a person with a definite 'no' has changed their mind and I want to be sure they are aware the help is there. When I left the park, I stopped at home, briefly, and then went to a personal appointment. I was done around lunch time. My after lunch work schedule is pretty much the same on a daily basis and that was no different today... Bottled waters, Tiller Tugs tug, small dog collar, plush squeaky pet toy, large stainless steel pet dish, chicken jerky treats, Inaba meal toppers, Dashi meal toppers, 3.5 pound bag of Pedigree high protein dog food, 2-20 pound bags of dog food from the Star Milling Company, buffalo tendons, bully slices, peanut butter knot chew and bully sticks were shared.

Monday On The Move 7-28-2025

I made my usual Monday morning visit to the Eastside and parked on Massachusetts by the Path of Life Community Shelter. I visited with pets that have companions in the shelters there as well as a couple that stay other places. There were two puppies, one cat and four dogs. I provided treats and/or supplies for each of them. While I was there, I received a call from the Riverside County Department of Animal Services letting me know the Director had canceled our lunch meeting for today. She was still willing to meet at the shelter but that didn't really work for me so we are rescheduling. When I left the Eastside, I headed home to try to fix something I was unsuccessful with yesterday. When I was almost to the Mission Avenue bridge, the traffic stopped. There was an accident that involved three cars and a truck and all of the vehicles had quite a bit of damage to them. I am not sure exactly what happened but was grateful to be able to pass in a timely manner. I went home and believe I finally fixed what I wasn't able to yesterday. I thought I might have to call a plumber but gave it one more try and it appeared to have worked. Time will tell! I forgot to mail a card to someone so I went back out to do that and check our PO Box, before going back home to do what I call my 'desk work'. The mornings are for the streets and the afternoons are for all the rest. I like staying busy and it is nice to work in the comfort of my home, after being outdoors, driving around and meeting people with their pets... Bottled waters, Tiller Tugs tug, chicken jerky treats, Inaba chicken fillets, Inaba meal toppers, Dashi meal toppers, Inaba Twins, Inaba Juicy Bites, 17-pound bag of cat food from the Star Milling Company, 2-20 pound bags of dog food from the Star Milling Company, wet cat food, cat toys, kabob chew sticks, buffalo tendons and bully sticks were shared.

Sunday On The Streets 7-27-2025

There is a gentleman on the Eastside who is only available on the weekends so I never get to visit his dogs when I am there Mondays and Fridays. I was unable to catch up with him last week so I decided to try again this morning. I needed to pick up a part, for something that broke in my house, so I stopped at the hardware store while on my way. After picking up the part, I was able to visit and provide supplies for the dogs, before driving out to a location in Jurupa Valley where I usually visit with three dogs and a cat every Sunday. The kitty wasn't there but I did visit with the dogs. They were not in need of supplies so I just gave them jerky treats and chew sticks. I received a few phone calls, during my travels, from people who needed pet food or wanted to set up spay/neuter appointments. Once I got home, worked on repairing the item that needed fixed and had lunch, I called back those who were wanting to get in touch with me. I scheduled three pets for Wednesday. I would have done more but Mary S. Roberts did not have a vet on staff. I also scheduled pets for the first Wednesday in August. If everyone who said they needed the spay/neuter services calls back we should be full that day too. Now I just need to figure out a way to have a fundraiser. Grants and Donations are at an all-time low for us as I am sure they are for many Non-Profits. I see others holding fundraisers but we don't have volunteers to do that so right now it is up to me and I am fresh out of ideas. I also don't have the time to invest so I keep hoping there are people who like what we do and will offer to volunteer where it is so needed... Bottled waters, flavored drink packets, large bag of recyclables, Inaba chicken broth, Inaba tuna fillets, Inaba chicken fillets, Inaba meal toppers, Dashi meal toppers, 8-pound bag of senior dog food, wet dog food, kabob chew sticks, buffalo tendons and bully slices were shared.

Saturday's Smiles 7-26-2025

I made arrangements to meet with some people that I have not met with for a few months now. They feed seven cats and four dogs. Over the years, we have provided all of those pets with 'the works'. They had to come up out of the river bottom for the visit so I did not see any of the cats but did see all four of the dogs. I provided them with supplies and made sure to give them a little extra since it had been so long since we had been able to meet up. When I left that location, I drove to the nearest freeway onramp and headed out to our storage units to pick up waters and pet food. Earlier, I received two emails stating that donations had been delivered from Chewy.com so when I left our storage units, I went to the Post Office. I had just enough room in my vehicle to accommodate the two boxes that were there. I went straight home to unload everything that needed to be unloaded and then load what I thought I might need for tomorrow's travels. I received a few phone calls, during my time out, and some of those people called back to schedule spay and neuter appointments. My only remaining appointment for July is going to someone referred by Feeding Perris Strays so I started making appointments for August... Bottled waters, Tiller Tugs tug toys, Kong balls, chicken jerky treats, Inaba Juicy Bites, Inaba tuna fillets, Inaba chicken fillets, Inaba meal toppers, Inaba Churu Bites, wet dog food, wet cat food, Inaba Twins, 2-17 pound bags of cat food from the Star Milling Company, 2-20-pound bags of dog food from the Star Milling Company, bully sticks and bully slices were shared.

Friday's Furry Friends 7-25-2025

I spent my time, this morning, on the Eastside parked in front of the Path of Life Community Shelter on Massachusetts Avenue. I visited seven dogs. Five of them stay in the kennels there. Two of them stay with the companions on the street. I also met a couple with a cat that is in the kennels. We discussed getting her spayed, the first week in August, and I gave her a few kitty treats. When I left that location, I went back to my house, because I was supposed to meet with someone who might be doing work for me. While I was waiting for his arrival, his office called and told me we would need to reschedule so I did that. I had some other personal appointments that needed setting up so I made a few phone calls and then got back to the non-profit work after lunch... Bottled waters, Tiller Tugs leash, Tiller Tugs tug toys, large collar, large leash, plush squeaky dog toys, chicken jerky treats, Inaba Churus, Inaba tuna fillets, Inaba chicken fillets, Inaba meal toppers, 3.5 pound bag of Pedigree small bites, 20-pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, wet dog food, kabob chew sticks, bully sticks and buffalo tendons were shared.

Thursday's Treasures 7-24-2025

Last night, we had three motel rooms reserved at the Jurupa Valley Motel6. Two of those rooms had a total of three dogs in them and were paid for by our 'Summer On The Streets 2025' online fundraiser. The third room was for the dog that received 'the works' yesterday. The gentleman in one of the rooms with the two dogs had to check out before I arrived so I did not get to visit with them. I did visit with the third dog and the dog that was spayed. In addition to them, I also visited with three other dogs that were already in in rooms with their companions. I provided a variety of supplies for all of the pets. From there, I went to pick up meds for my senior dog and then produce for my tortoise, before heading home to begin the work that needed done from there... Bottled waters, chicken jerky treats, Inaba tuna fillets, Inaba chicken fillets, Inaba meal toppers, 8-pound bag of senior dog food, wet dog food, kabob chew sticks, bully slices, bully sticks, small squeaky ball and Kong squeaky ball were shared.

#2,344 and #2,345 Get 'The Works' 7-23-2025

Because one of the clinics we use does not have a vet for two weeks, we only had three pets scheduled for 'the works' today. All were to be done at the Riverside County Department of Animal Services spay/neuter clinic. Every pet was a no-show last week so I was doing my best to be sure we did not waste any appointments today. When I could not reach one of the people with a pet that was to be spayed, I canceled his appointment and put someone else in his place. He called me to confirm, days after I had left voicemails and texts. He was very upset that I canceled and said I was stereotyping. He yelled at me for awhile and I finally told him I was hanging up as not to listen to anymore. I texted after that. As luck would have it for him, one of the other pets scheduled had to cancel due to no transportation so I asked him if he wanted the appointment back. He said yes. I even saw him a couple of days ago and reminded him of the time and place. After all of that indignation on his part, he was a no-show this morning! I was actually surprised, after him reading me the riot act about stereotyping. He did exactly what I tried to explain people do all the time……In any case, the Veteran with a male cat showed up early which was great. The other dog I was expecting said they would not make it until 7:30. I was clear I needed her there by 7:15 but there wasn't much I could do at that point. She wound up getting lost and running out of gas and showed up 45 minutes late. I was getting ready to leave when she pulled in. I took some photos and a video clip and left so I could run home for a few minutes and then get on the road to go out of town for a few hours. This month is not going to be the greatest, as far as numbers of spay/neuter surgeries are concerned, but I did whatever I could to make it better and the rest was out of my control. "One by one we get them done, because the only way to combat pet overpopulation and euthanasia in our shelters is to spay and neuter." Bottled waters, ARCO fuel cards, Inaba tuna fillets, Inaba Churus, Inaba Twins, wet cat food, 17 pound bag of cat food from the Star Milling Company, cat toys and 20 pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company were shared.

Tuesday's Treasures 7-22-2024

I didn't have any specific plans set for today. When that happens, I usually just pick a few areas to drive around and that is what I did. I did not have much success but I did spend a couple of hours making an effort. My first stop was in Rubidoux. I saw a little dog and his companion sitting on the sidewalk when I was driving up Mission Blvd. I could not pull over quickly enough so I drove around the block and came back to where they were. I actually saw them yesterday too, when I was headed to the Eastside, but did not see them when I went back through Rubidoux. When I left that location, I drove through a couple areas of Fairmount Park and the Salvation Army. I did not see anyone at either place so I drove back through the park. I went to different areas this time and spotted a gentleman with his dog. I stopped for a visit and to provide a few supplies and then spent some time in different areas of Jurupa Valley. I did not see anyone with pets and continued on to the Post Office. I had received an email from Chewy.com saying a donation had been delivered so I went to pick it up. I went home from there and spent a good part of the afternoon answering emails, texts and phone calls in addition to scheduling future spay/neuter appointments... Bottled waters, flavored drink packets, chicken jerky treats, Inaba chicken fillets, Inaba tuna fillets, Inaba Churu Bites, Inaba meal toppers, wet dog food, kabob chew stick and bully stick were shared.

Monday On The Move 7-21-2025

My day began on the Eastside of town by the Path of Life Community Shelter. I had some drama there, I would have preferred to do without but was happy to visit with the five dogs that were out with their companions. I provided supplies and spoke to a couple of people about motel rooms this week before heading out to Colton. I wanted to speak to someone whose dog is supposed to get 'the works' on Wednesday. He doesn't have a phone so I drove over to where someone said he was staying. I did find him there and we discussed his dog's appointment. From there I drove to the nearest freeway onramp, so I could go to our storage units to pick up waters and pet food. I was grateful that the temperatures were in the low 70's so it was pretty comfortable being out this morning... Bottled Waters, medium harness and leash set, medium dog collar, large leash, chicken jerky treats, Inaba chicken fillets, Inaba tuna fillets, 3.5 pound bag of Pedigree for small dogs, wet dog food, Inaba meal toppers, 20-pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, bully slices, kabob chew sticks, bully sticks and plush squeaky dog toys were shared.

Sunday On The Streets 7-20-2025

I only made plans to go to one location, this morning, and that is because there were a number of people who were supposed to meet me there with their pets. The meeting place was going to be off of Holly Street at a river bottom outlet near the Fed-Ex trucking facility. I arrived a few minutes early but nobody else was there yet. I texted, and called, a couple of phone numbers but nobody answered. I waited an additional fifteen minutes and then I left. I was very clear that I don't appreciate spending my time and money on fuel if people are not going to show up but was told that everyone would be there. That did not happen. There are quite a few pets that receive supplies at this meeting place but this is not the first time I have been 'stood up'. I will have to figure out how to make this work in the future because I am not going to continue going listening to excuses, after the fact, as to why some or in this case all don't bother showing up. When I left that location, I drove to the Eastside to visit a family that is only available on the week-ends. Unfortunately, the companion was not there today. I don't fault him, as my arrival was last minute and he had no idea I was going to be there but I was sorry to miss them. From there I drove out to Jurupa Valley and visited a family there. I did not see either of the cats but did visit with and provide supplies for the three dogs. It still feels strange with the woman no longer being there. I had known her for many years and she was a big animal lover. I am sure her senior dog is missing her. I know her children are. I hope she is resting in peace. Clearly, she wasn't in peace for longer than anyone realized... Bottled Waters, flavored drink packets, chicken jerky treats, large bag of duck jerky treats, Inaba Churus, Inaba tuna fillets, 20-pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, bully slices, buffalo tendons, kabob chew sticks. cat toys and plush squeaky dog toys were shared.

Saturday's Smiles 7-19-2025

I thought I was going to meet a group of people with their pets, this morning, but when that did not work out I just got in my vehicle and started driving. I made my first stop in Rubidoux where I visited a little dog as well as provided supplies for him and his feline sister. From there, I went to Fairmount Park. I made two stops there. The first was for one dog and the second for two more. I provided a few supplies and then drove back through Rubidoux. I stopped to visit a dog and her companion. I provided them with a few supplies too. My next stop was at our (empty) PO Box and then the final stop was at the Riverside County Department of Animal Services. They are having a special event today and will be open until midnight. Seventeen years ago, my daughter was one of the few 13 year olds allowed to volunteer. My daughter started working there this week. It seemed right that she would eventually wind up there, after graduating from college and spending a few years at another job. I wanted to do a little something for her and the team working under their supervisor so I dropped off a couple of bags of my homemade baked goods. I hope many pets find their forever homes during this even and I see the shelter staff working hard to help make that happen... Bottled Waters, flavored drink packets, chicken jerky treats, wet dog food, wet cat food, DASHI meal toppers, Inaba meal toppers, Inaba Churus, Inaba tuna fillets, Inaba chicken fillets, large squeaky Kong ball, peanut butter knot chew, bully stick, buffalo tendons and kabob chew sticks were shared.

Thursday's Treasures 7-17-2025

Because nobody showed up for their spay/neuter appointments yesterday, we did not have any pets recuperating at the motel. However, we did reserve a couple of rooms for people who wanted to get out of the heat with their pets, thanks to our 'Summer On The Streets 2025' online fundraiser. This morning, I went to visit those three pets and I also had an opportunity to visit with another that happened to be staying at the motel. I provided a few supplies to each of them. When I left the motel, I stopped at the store to pick up more produce for my tortoise, went home for a bit and then went back out to take care of a personal appointment and to see if there was anything in our PO Box. Donations and Grants have been way down so I am always hoping to be surprised with one or the other when I check the Post Office... Bottled Waters, chicken jerky treats, wet dog food, Inaba meal toppers, individual bags of dog treats, Inaba chicken fillets, bully slices, buffalo tendons, kabob chew sticks, plush squeaky toy and xs small squeaky ball were shared.

Tuesday's Treasures 7-15-2025

This morning was spent at the Jurupa Valley Motel6. I visited four pets that we put in rooms, with their companions, thanks to our 'Summer On The Streets 2025' online fundraiser and two other pets that were already in rooms there. When I left the motel, I went back home to check on my dog and start a new medication. Before I started today's travels, I went to the vet to pick up the medication. He recently received a Cytapoint injection but has still been itching and licking so we are now trying Apoquel to see if that helps. This dog is around 17 years old with a grade 5 heart murmur and kidney disease. I try to keep him as comfortable as possible so I hated to see him itching, licking and shaking his head. When we went to the vet last week, they said it all seemed allergy related. That was both good news and bad news, due to the fact that I am unsure what is causing the allergies after all of these years, but I will continue trying different treatments in hopes that something works... Bottled Waters, Premier protein shakes, chicken jerky treats, wet dog food, Inaba meal toppers, 8 pound bag of senior dog food, 4.5 pound bag of senior dog food, 20-pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, collapsible pet dish with leash clip, medium stainless steel pet dish, large dog leash, large squeaky Kong ball, bully sticks and buffalo tendons sticks were shared.

Monday On The Move 7-14-2025

My first stop was on the Eastside, at the kennel, outside the Path of Life Community Shelter. There were three dogs there. I visited with two of them, provided a few supplies and gave treats to all three. When I left that location, I drove to Fairmount Park. I visited with two pets and their companion as well as provided a few supplies. From there I took a drive through Ryan Bonaminio Park and the Old Pine Center. I had not been over there in quite some time. I did not see any homeless with pets so I continued driving to drop something off at the workplace of the wife of the gentleman who keeps our website going. As I have stated, he will not accept payment but will accept baked goods and items for their kitties. I have made it a habit to do this once a month. It is not nearly enough for all he does for us but it is still something to remind him how much he is appreciated. From there, I did a little more driving around the Jurupa Valley area, near our PO Box. I did not find anyone with pets so I checked out PO Box, which was empty, and went home. My dog's health has been declining so I am always eager to get back to the house and make sure he is ok. I am always glad to get out of the heat too. My work doesn't end when I leave the streets but I am grateful that whatever else has to be done is done with air conditioning... Bottled Waters, chicken jerky treats, wet dog food, Inaba Churu Bites, bully sticks, buffalo tendons and kabob chew sticks were shared.

Sunday On The Streets 7-13-2025

This morning turned into a busy one. My first stop was in Rubidoux where I went to remind someone that I was reserving a room for her, and her dog, thanks to our 'Summer On The Streets 2025' online fundraiser. I have three rooms reserved so far for Monday and more for Wednesday. During our visit I also shared supplies and then headed over to the Jurupa Valley Motel6. I had received a text about a dog that had been found and he had something around his neck with an ID number from the Riverside County Department of Animal Services. I checked him for a microchip and he had one. I called Home Again but it wasn't their chip so they referred me to Pet Watch. As soon they told me the dog's name, I realized I actually knew him. We provided 'the works' for him and another dog his companion had too. I was confused, because she told me she had given two of her three dogs away. She said it was too much with three dogs and nowhere to stay. Because this dog had an ID tag on him from Animal Services, I contacted someone there. It seems a family member tried to help by turning the dogs in hoping they would get adopted but at the last minute, their original owner went in and got them out. In the mean time, a friend of the dog's owner was at the motel and we thought she was going to help us so I left to go to another location. I later found out she just took off and did nothing to help, even though the dog clearly knew her and liked her. The gentleman holding on to the dog could not bring the dog in his room due to his own dog. He leashed the dog outside his room, when he went in to use the restroom, and the dog slipped out of the leash. When I called back, he had not found the dog again but was still looking and nobody had been able to contact the actual owner. My final stop was one I was dreading. It was to visit a family, living in an RV, that I have been seeing most Sunday's for a long time. I knew it would be different now as everything changed. There were two adults, three children and six pets living there but now there was just one adult and the six pets. I am not going to get into what happened to the mom or where the children went but the whole situation is a very sad one. I received the devastating news last week but this was the first time I went to visit the pets since everything went down. They were happy to see me and at some point I may need to find rescues but for today it was just a visit and the sharing of supplies... Bottled Waters, flavored drink packets, small stainless steel pet dish, chicken jerky treats, Inaba meal toppers, Inaba tuna fillets, Inaba chicken fillets, Inaba Twins, Inaba Juicy Bites, Inaba Churus, wet dog food, wet cat food, wet kitten food, 3.5 pound bag of kitten food, cat toys, plush squeaky dog toys, large squeaky Kong ball, buffalo tendons and peanut butter knot chews were shared.

Saturday's Smiles 7-12-2025

I was contacted by some people who wanted to meet, this morning, at a river bottom outlet by the Fed-Ex facility off of Holy Street in Jurupa Valley. Two of those people showed up. I had an opportunity to visit with their pets and provide the supplies they asked for. There is no shade where we met so I am sure we were all grateful to be done in a little less than an hour. When I left that location I drove around a few areas of Rubidoux and Jurupa Valley but did not see anyone with pets. I made a stop at our PO Box and then went to the store to pick up a few items I needed for baking. If I get up early tomorrow morning and it is cool enough in the house, I hope to get a little baking done, because I promised some goodies to a couple of people and I don't have enough in my freezer to accommodate them... Friday's Furry Friends 7-11-2025

I went to the Eastside this morning and visited ten pets. Nine of those have companions staying at the Path of Life Community Shelter, or one of the nearby shelters. The other stays on the street with his companion. All received treats and many received supplies too. When I left that location, I drove across town to our storage units. Seth Cox was picking up our monthly donation of cat and dog food from the Satr Milling Company and I was going to meet him to unload the delivery. We are so grateful to Star Milling for increasing our monthly donation of dog food. They had been giving us 20/20-pound bags of dog food totaling 400 pounds, for many years now, but starting last month they increased it to 30/20 pound bags of dog food totaling 600 pounds. That is in addition to 10–17-pound bags of cat food totaling 170 pounds per month. We still have to purchase small bags of puppy, senior and small bites for small dogs but not having to purchase the larger bags helps us so much financially! We can't thank them enough for their generosity or Seth Cox enough for volunteering his time, and fuel, to make sure we receive our monthly donation. When I left our storage units, I went home briefly to check on my dog and then went to meet my Christine Ramirez for lunch. She has not volunteered with me for quite some time but she has become a good friend and I was happy to see her. She also treated me to lunch which was an added bonus! Bottled Waters, chicken jerky treats, Inaba meal toppers, Inaba tuna fillets, Inaba chicken fillets, Inaba Churu Bites, Inaba Juicy Bites, Inaba Churus, cat toys, wet dog food, 3.5 pound bag of Pedigree puppy food, food, 20-pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, kabob chew sticks, bully slices, buffalo tendons, peanut butter knot chew and bully sticks were shared.

Thursday's Treasures 7-10-2025

We reserved nine rooms, last night, at the Jurupa Valley Motel6. A total of twelve pets were in those rooms. I visited them all this morning. The room with the two female dogs, that had their spay day yesterday, was the only room we did not pay for using any funds from our 'Summer On The Streets 2025' online fundraiser. We normally put male dogs in a room for one night but each of the male's that got 'the works' received two nights. One of those nights being paid for by the fundraiser. In addition, we had pets in four other rooms and those were paid in full by the fundraiser. I have already started a list for rooms for this coming Monday and Wednesday. Those rooms will be paid for by the fundraiser as well. I will reserve as many rooms as I can throughout the summer. Last Summer many that received a one night stay were also able to get a second night the following month. I did that until the funds ran out. I believe that was early August. I know it is hot in Southern California for a few months after that but we can only give what we have. Whatever we were able to do was very much appreciated and continues to be this summer too... Bottled Waters, large stainless steel pet dish, chicken jerky treats, Inaba meal toppers, Inaba tuna fillets, Inaba chicken fillets, DASHI meal toppers, wet dog food, 3.5 pound bag of Pedigree high protein dog food, kabob chew sticks, bully slices and bully sticks were shared.

#2,338,39,40,41,42 and #2,343 Get 'The Works' 7-09-2025

We had seven pets scheduled for 'the works' today. Three female dogs, three male dogs and a male cat. Two of the female dogs, mother and daughter, and the male cat had appointments at the Riverside County Department of Animal Services spay/neuter clinic. I asked that they arrive by 7:15am for 7:30am check in. Both people were on time. All three pets were checked in by 7:45am so I went home to tend to my dog, before going back out to the Mary S. Robert's spay/neuter clinic. Three male dogs and one female dog had 9:00am appointments there. Two of the people showed up on time with their male dogs. One of the people arrived a little late with her male dog as she originally went to the thrift store instead of the spay/neuter clinic. The female dog never did make it. Even though someone texted me at 6am asking what time to be there, they did not show up on time. I tried calling and texting with no success and then finally received a call around 9:45 telling me they were on their way. I told them there was no need as I was going to be leaving. I understand when people are a few minutes showing up an hour or more late just isn't acceptable. I try to be patient and wait but sometimes my patience wears thin. Many times I have other places I need to be after check in and it is not possible for me to hang around for long periods of time. I hope the word gets around that if people don't show up on time then their pets will not get spayed/neutered and I may or may not give them another opportunity. I am sorry about the dog that did not get what she needed but thankful for the six pets that did! "One by one we get them done, because the only way to combat pet overpopulation and euthanasia in our shelters is to spay and neuter." Bottled Waters, ARCO fuel cards, medium dog collar, Inaba Churus, Inaba tuna fillets, Inaba chicken fillets, Inaba meal toppers, wet cat food, DASHI meal toppers, 4 pound bag of senior dog food, 2-3.5 pound bags of small bites dog food,17-pound bag of cat food from the Star Milling Company, 20-pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, wet dog food, collapsible pet bowls with leash clips and a plush squeaky toy were shared.

Tuesday's Treasures 7-08-2025

This day seemed to be going well. I dropped off cookies for the clinic staff and the ACO's at the Riverside County Department of Animal Services before meeting a couple of people with their pets in the parking lot there. We visited, I provided supplies and then headed to Fairmount Park. There I visited with a dog, met a tiny puppy that should still be with its mama and provided supplies. My final stop was across town at storage where I picked up pet food and water as well as donated a bunch of items we were not using to someone who can use them. It was pushing 90 degrees and I was happy to go back home, until my phone rang as I was pulling in the driveway. I got some terrible news about a woman I head just seen two days ago. I don't want to go into details, until I know more but I will say that I am devastated for her children and her pets. I have been in touch with the Riverside County Sheriff's Department and hope to learn more in time. As soon as I got my vehicle unloaded and then loaded back for tomorrow's spay/neuter day, I had some lunch and took a short break from the work waiting for me at my desk. I needed time to gather my thoughts and process some of today's news. I have heard and seen so many heartbreaking things, over the past 13+ years and it never seems to get any easier... Bottled Waters, Benadryl caplets, flavor packet, sheets, towels, pillows, cat dishes, medium dog collar, small dog leash, plush squeaky pet toys, small harness and leash set, collapsible pet dish with leash clip, 20 pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, 2- 17pound bags of cat food from the Star Milling Company, Inaba meal toppers, wet dog food, wet cat food, Inaba Twins, Inaba chicken fillets, Inaba tuna fillets, Inaba Churu Bites, Inaba Churus, wet puppy food, DASHI meal toppers, bully sticks, collapsible pet dish and stainless steel pet dosh were shared.

Monday On The Move 7-07-2025

I started my day on the Eastside on Massachusetts near the Path pf Life Community Shelter, I visited with three dogs and provided supplies. When I left, I drove around looking for someone I promised supplies to. She was not in her tent but I did find her walking down a nearby street. I gave her a few things and made arrangements to put her and her dog in a motel room this week as part of our 'Summer On The Streets 2025' fundraising program. When we were done, I drove back home to pick up my dog and take him to the vet. Thankfully, they ruled out most everything but allergies and he got an injection. I will keep an eye on him to see if he improves or needs to go back. With his grde5 heart murmur and kidney disease, I am never sure what else might go wrong but I just take it one day at a time... Bottled Waters, large fleece blanket, plush squeaky pet toys, small harness and leash set, collapsible pet dish with leash clip, 20 pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, Inaba meal toppers, wet dog food, Inaba chicken fillets, Inaba tuna fillets, Inaba Churu Bites, DASHI meal toppers, bully slices and kabob chew sticks were shared.

Sunday On The Streets 7-06-2025

Sunday's are not always the most productive days but I did go to two different locations and visit with five pets. The first stop was in Rubidoux. I was there to visit a dog and provide supplies but also to remind the companion that I was willing to rent a motel room for them, if they could find a ride. The second stop was by Agate Park in Jurupa Valley where a family lives in their RV. One of their pets has not yet been neutered and I wanted to offer the service again. They don't have a second vehicle and it is very costly to drive the RV very far so we won't be able to make that happen until they can find a ride to and from the clinic. On my way home, I ran into Dollar Tree to pick up a few small collars, leashes and portable pet bowls with leash clips. Someone me in the parking lot with donations of toys. I hope to open everything, and get some photos, on Tuesday. When I returned home, I made a call and filled the final spay/neuter opening for this week. It is for someone who got mixed up last week and did not make it but I am hoping there will be no confusion this time. It would be nice to get all seven pets done! Bottled Waters, flavored drink packets, 20 pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, Inaba meal toppers, Inaba Twins, wet dog food, Inaba chicken fillets, Inaba tuna fillets, Inaba Churu Bites, DASHI meal toppers, buffalo tendons, bully slices and Inaba Churus were shared.

Saturday's Smiles 7-05-2025

My daily travels started and ended at Fairmount Park. The first stop I made was towards the back of the park. I had arranged to meet a gentleman and his dog there. We had a visit and I provided supplies. Afterwards, I drove around the park and went to the parking lot where the armory used to be. When I pulled in, the first pet I saw was a dog that has been living in an apartment with his companion for the past few months. It had been quite some time since I had seen him and I think we were both really happy for the visit. While I was there, I visited with six more pets and provided a few supplies. Two of the people need their dogs neutered and one woman had a puppy that looked to be about four weeks old. Someone was giving the puppies away to whoever they saw at the park. As usual, they gave the impression that the puppies would not have a happy ending if someone did not take them. I had one can of puppy milk with me so I gave it to the woman who was taking care of the baby there but I am concerned about the others. I don't know how some of those people are going to be able to care for such young puppies and I am so disgusted with people who don't spay/neuter and who not only give away puppies prematurely but don't care who winds up with them. On a positive note, I did not come across any dogs running loose so I was grateful for that much! Over the years, there have always been a number of dogs running scared from fireworks. I am sure people are not done setting them off so I may still come across some of those frightened pets. I am really sick of people who leave their dogs outside when there are so many warnings about how badly that can wind up. It seems like the homeless are much better about protecting their dogs during these noisy days/weeks and that doesn't say much about people in homes who are expected to be more responsible... Bottled Waters, shedding rake, large bag of recyclables, flavored drink packets, can of puppy milk, large stainless steel pet dish, 20 pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, Inaba meal toppers, Inaba chicken fillets, Inaba tuna fillets, Inaba Churu Bites, DASHI meal toppers, wet dog food, buffalo tendons, bully sticks, bully slices, kabob chew sticks, large squeaky Kong ball, medium squeaky Kong balls and plush squeaky toys were shared.

Friday's Furry Friends 7-04-2025

The Access Center was closed today, for the 4th of July holiday, but I still drove to the Eastside to see if anyone was outside with their pets. The only person I saw with a pet was someone who had a tent on Massachusetts. I stopped for a visit and to provide supplies and then headed to another location on the Eastside to visit another pet and his companion. I provided them with a few supplies too. My next stop was across town at our storage units where I picked up pet food and waters. From there I drove to a location in Jurupa Valley where I met with a gentleman and his two dogs as well as a woman with her dog. We already provided 'the works' for the gentleman with the two dogs but not for the companion of the other dog. She had not been ready but said she is now so we made a plan for her to call me and get it scheduled. It was starting to heat up and the dogs seemed eager to get back to the river and play in the water. We had a short visit and I provided supplies, before heading home. When I lived in the Canyon Crest area, we always watched fireworks from our balcony. We could actually see them from a few different cities. Ever since I had to moved, six years ago, I have not really watched any. The main reason is because I have stayed home to try and comfort my dogs. I was down to three when I moved into this house and have lost two of those over the past few years. Thankfully, the senior I have now is mostly deaf and doesn't seemed bothered unless one goes off sounding like a bomb and rocks the house. He usually picks his head up and looks around but doesn't seem frightened which I am most grateful for. Having terrified dogs is so sad, because sometimes nothing works to comfort them. I am mostly just concerned about fires and sometimes the sudden noises scare me for a bit. I'm also not a fan of them going off for hours and keeping me awake but my heart really goes out to those with PTSD or anyone else who gets frightened. There is nothing much worth celebrating for them... Bottled Waters, flavored drink packets, 20 pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, 8 pound bag of senior dog food, Inaba meal toppers, Inaba chicken fillets, individual bags of dog treats, DASHI meal toppers, wet dog food, buffalo tendons, bully sticks, kabob chew sticks, xs squeaky Kong ball, medium squeaky Kong ball, and large squeaky Kong ball were shared.

Thursday's Treasures 7-03-2025

My morning began with my finding out that the companion of the two female puppies, that got 'the works' at the Mary S. Robert's clinic, never showed up for them. I knew she was having car trouble but thought she would find a way to get her dogs. She did not. She does not have money for late fees or boarding so that made the charity responsible. After many phone calls to the companion's phone and phones of her friend as well as calls and emails to the clinic, the situation was finally taken care of. The companion showed up late this afternoon and surrendered the puppies to the adoption center. I am still figuring out a plan for her other two puppies. I already committed to spaying them but need to figure out the best way to handle it... On a positive note, while at the Jurupa Valley Motel6, I was able to visit with three of the dogs that received 'the works', the cat that received 'the works' and five other pets that were there. Four of those pets we have provided 'the works' for, in the past, and one needs those services. I started using funds from the 'Summer On The Streets 2025' online fundraiser towards some of the rooms and will continue doing so for as long as possible... Bottled Waters, flavored drink packets, medium stainless steel pet bowls, large leash, 2-20 pound bags of dog food from the Star Milling Company, 3.5 pound bag of puppy food, wet puppy food, Inaba meal toppers, Inaba chicken fillets, Inaba tuna fillets, individual bags of dog treats, DASHI meal toppers, Inaba Churus, wet dog food, buffalo tendons, bully sticks, peanut butter knot chew, squeaky Kong ball and plush squeaky toys were shared.

#2,332, 33, 34, 35, 36, & #2,337 Get 'The Works' 7-02-2025

We had seven pets scheduled for the works today. Five of those pets were dogs. Four of the dogs were females. Two of the pets were cats. One female and one male. Three were to be done at the Riverside County Department of Animal Services spay/neuter clinic and four at the Mary S. Robert's spay/neuter clinic. The companion of two dogs being done at the second clinic drove two people with two dogs to the first clinic as well. She was a no show last week but I offered her appointments again if she promised to show up. She did and she helped others too which I appreciated. When we had all three dogs checked in at Riverside County Department of Animal Services spay/neuter clinic, I went home briefly to wake my senior dog, feed him and then go back out to the second clinic. One of the people was already there, with her cat, when I arrived. She actually had a couple of dogs with her that we had provided 'the works' for some time ago. I started trying to reach the other people, a little after 9am. The companion of the male cat, who I confirmed with yesterday, said he thought the appointment was at 2pm and could not get a ride with such short notice so his appointment was wasted. I then started calling the companion of the two puppies that were no shows last week but were surely coming today. I was sure, because their companion had already driven two others to earlier appointments. I became unsure when time kept passing and she had not arrived yet. I called every few minutes and finally got an answer at 9:30. She said she was on Jurupa so I was expecting her anytime. Thirty minutes later, I finally left the clinic, after not being able to reach her again. I am not sure why, but I wound up turning off of Jurupa and driving back towards the clinic. That is when I saw the companion stopped at a light on the other side of the street. She was on the wrong side of Fremont. I honked my horn and waved and then she followed me. I stayed at the clinic long enough to get slip leads on her puppies and to make sure the clinic had whatever permissions they needed for services. I am definitely thankful that I turned around and that the puppies got checked in. When all was said and done, we did not get seven pets spayed/neutered but we did get six. "One by one we get them done, because the only way to combat pet overpopulation and euthanasia in our shelters is to spay and neuter." Bottled Waters, ARCO fuel cards, large stainless steel pet bowls, medium stainless steel pet bowls, 2 large slip leads, Max and Neo dog collar, large leash, 3-20 pound bags of dog food from the Star Milling Company, 17 pound bag of cat food from the Star Milling Company, Inaba meal toppers, DASHI meal toppers, Inaba Twins, Inaba Juicy Bites, wet cat food, wet dog food, buffalo tendons and plush squeaky toys were shared.

Tuesday's Treasures 7-01-2025

Today started a new month but there was not too much going on with my daily travels. I did quite a bit of driving but only visited with and provided supplies for two dogs. I had no luck in Rubidoux, the Salvation Army or Fairmount Park but did meet with the first pet at a river bottom outlet in an industrial area of Jurupa Valley. From there, I drove out to another location in Jurupa Valley for the second dog. Most of what I did today was inform people by text or call about the fundraiser we just had and asked them to let others know so I could start reserving the rooms. When I got in, I spent time on the phone trying to fill my seventh spay/neuter appointment for tomorrow. I had a few people ask for it but none called to give me their information. Now I am just hoping everyone shows tomorrow and we don't have a repeat of last week. I will think good thoughts! Bottled Waters, flavored drink packets, small leash, large stainless steel dish, chicken jerky treats, wet dog food, 8 pound bag of senior dog food, Inaba chicken fillets, Inaba meal toppers, buffalo tendons, bully stick, kabob chew sticks, peanut butter knot chew and Nerf dog light up ball were shared.
