Even with all of the no shows, and the times the clinic was closed, counting today we were still able to spay and neuter 212 pets in 2025. I wish we had gotten many more done but am grateful that those two hundred and twelve will not be adding to, or will no longer be adding to, pet overpopulation in the homeless community or our community at large... We had six pets scheduled today. Two male dogs, two female dogs, one male cat and one female cat. At 5am, I received a text from the companion of the female cat. She wanted to know about pick up time. At 6:30am, I received a text telling me the companion of the male cat had already arrived. I told him I would be there at 7am as planned. Five of the people showed up and they were on time. The person who texted at 5am did not. Her cat was in heat so I really wanted to get her in but I tried calling and texting multiple times with no response. I finally got one at 8am, and she said she overslept. Not sure how when she texted at 5am but at that point I had left the clinic so today's appointment was canceled. We are ending 2025 with five more pets being spayed and neutered. That is something to celebrate. I would like to thank those who have supported our work and make it possible to continue providing much needed services. We wish you a Happy and Healthy New Year. "One by one we get things done, because the only way to combat pet overpopulation and euthanasia in our shelters is to spay and neuter." Bottled waters, ARCO fuel cards, handmade pet jackets, small Max and Neo dog collar, 3-20 pound bags of dog food from the Star Milling Company, 17 pound bag of cat food from the Star Milling Company and plush squeaky dog toys were shared.
At 8am, I made my first trip of the day to the Jurupa Valley City Hall. I renewed my City of Riverside business tax certificate on their website but Jurupa Valley doesn't have that kind if set up yet. I brought my paperwork in and was out of there in thirty minutes. I drove home, after that, and then went back out a little while later. My first stop was in Rubidoux. The companion of two dogs was in the hospital yesterday so she did not want to come out. One of her dogs has a tendency to go after people and even though she is fine with me, the dog stayed in the tent. The other dog came out so I gave him treats and then gave both dogs buffalo chew sticks before heading to Fairmount Park. I did not see anyone there with pets but did notice a couple on Market Street near Fairmount Blvd. They were sitting on the dirt by the sidewalk there with seven of their eight dogs. I parked down the street and then walked over to find out if they got their other dog back. An AC Officer took the dog in to get neutered and to have his leg looked at. They did not have him back yet but I was able to find out that the dog is ready to be picked up. From there, I checked our (empty) PO Box and then went home to load supplies for tomorrow's spay/neuter day. At lunch time, I met Jenn Detroit and Tracy Bowen at the Beach Bar and Grill for lunch. Afterwards, I got back to work at home... Bottled waters, large collar and leash set, doggie waste bags, medium stainless steel pet bowls, Inaba twins for dogs, chicken jerky treats, buffalo tendons and Inaba Churu Bites were shared.
I arrived on the Eastside at the Path of Life Community Shelter a little before 9am. I visited with, and provided supplies, for six pets while I was there. I also spoke to someone about getting her dog spayed the fist Wednesday in January. When I left that location, I drove across town so I could go to our storage units again. I was going to go on Thursday but it will be closed for the holiday. I picked up pet food, a couple cases of water and the remainder of the handmade jackets from last year. The person who makes them has been asking what sizes we need and I haven't had a chance to figure that out. Now that I have all of the jackets at home, I am able to inventory them and let her know. I was aware we needed a couple of sizes bur wasn't sure how many. When I was done at storage, I made some phone calls and scheduled a couple of appointments. One of those was for my dog and the other for myself. This is the time of year I usually go to the Optometrist, the Ophthalmologist and get a physical. I am 70 years old now and would like to keep my health in check so I can continue my 'daily travels' for as long as possible... Bottled waters, handmade pet jackets, 20lb. bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, wet dog food, Inaba twins for dogs, chicken jerky treats, buffalo tendons, bully sticks and kabab chew sticks were shared.
This morning, I was able to get in touch with someone who I was supposed to meet with yesterday. We agreed to meet at Fairmount Park. I drove out there to visit and bring supplies. We also discussed spaying and neutering puppies that belong to her and her boyfriend. While I was there, I received return text messages from someone I thought I might visit at the Jurupa Valley Motel6. She said they were checking out today so I made sure to get over there before check out time. I visited with her dog and the dog of a friend. I also visited with, and provided supplies, to a couple with two dogs. They happened to be staying in a room there as well. When I left that location, I went to the store to pick up a few more ingredients I need to make a crock pot of vegetable, barley, lentil and bean soup. It is supposed to start raining again on Wednesday and that is expected to last for four days or more. Soup seemed perfect for cool, wet weather. It makes quite a bit and my daughter enjoys it too so I will have plenty to share... Bottled waters, beanies, scarves, handmade pet jackets, 2-20lb. bags of dog food from the Star Milling Company, wet dog food, Inaba twins for dogs, plush squeaky Christmas dog toys, chicken jerky treats, buffalo tendons, bully sticks and squeaky Kong balls were shared.
At 7am, I arrived at our storage units. I picked up bags of dog food and filled a container with pet jackets. From there, I went home to unload most of what I picked up and stock my vehicle for today's travels. I did not have an actual plan, because I was unable to reach any of the people who asked for pet food so I just started driving. I was going to stop in Rubidoux, but everyone was still sleeping, so I continued on to Fairmount Park. I found two gentleman with their dogs there. One of them belongs to someone who won't allow the dog to be neutered so his dog just received treats. The other dog, and his companion, received a few people and pet supplies. I asked one of the gentleman where I might find a couple and their dogs. He told me which bridge they were camped under so I went there next. When I arrived, I found them there with seven of their eight dogs as well as four other people. Three of those had dogs with them. There were a total of twelve all together. I think I got pics and/or video of eleven of them. So much of what I had with me went to the pets at this stop and that was fine with me. Most received treats, toys and chew sticks. Some received other supplies as well. Once everyone had what they needed, I left. I was hoping a grant check might be at our PO Box but all that was there was a grant denial letter from a different organization. I wanted to run a persona; errand but I really needed to get back home so my dog could go out for a few minutes and so I could get started on social media, calls, emails and texts... Bottled waters, Premier protein shakes, cracker packs, cookie packs, fruit chews, beef sticks, candy canes, mac and cheese cups, beanies, rain boots, scarves, 20lb. bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, wet dog food, Inaba twins for dogs, plush squeaky Christmas dog toys, chicken jerky treats, individual bags of dog treats, buffalo tendons, bully sticks, bully slices and squeaky Kong balls were shared.
I was happy to see sunny skies this morning and decided to do my daily travels, as soon as I was done baking. Over the years, I have usually been on the streets Christmas day. Sometimes I see many people with pets and other times, like today, I saw very few. Part of the reason may have been due to all of the rain and possibly because some of the organizations were going put later. I make the effort, in hopes of finding at least one or more pets so that did happen. The Path of Life Community Shelter is closed today. I won't be going there tomorrow whether or not the weather permits or they are open, because I have other plans. I took a chance today, incase some of the people might be outside with their pets. They were not. I did meet up with a couple not far from there. I provided them with supplies while we did our best to accessorize their dog and their puppy. When I left that location, I was headed to Fairmount Park when I came upon a gentleman, and his dog, on Third Street. I turned down the closest side street and they followed. I provided them with supplies and we accessorized his dog. From there, I drove through Fairmount Park. Most of it was closed off, due to the flooding that happens every time we experience large amounts of rain. I did not fins anyone there, in Rubidoux or in the areas of Jurupa Valley I went through. I tried contacted a few people but they either did not answer or were on their way to pick up food from a variety of places so I headed home. I was only out for a couple of hours and did not accomplish a lot but I was thankful for the three pets that I did see. Rain or shine, I will not be out tomorrow but will be back on Saturday... Bottled waters, Premier protein shakes, cracker packs, cookie packs, fruit chews, beef sticks, candy canes, mac and cheese cups, beanies, socks, scarves, 2-20lb. bags of dog food from the Star Milling Company, wet dog food, Inaba twins for dogs, Inaba meal toppers, plush squeaky Christmas dog toys, chicken jerky treats, buffalo tendons, bully sticks, bully slices and squeaky Kong balls were shared.
I went out twice today. The first time was to bring cupcakes to the Riverside County Department of Animal Services. We are expecting rainstorms to roll in, at some point, but all I had to deal with was heavy fog. When I dropped off all of the cupcakes, I stopped at the vet's office to pick up something for my dog and then went home. My second trip was to Colton. I met with some people, and pets, that I thought I was going to meet with this past Sunday. I distributed my final three Animal Victory Holiday Love Bags and got to accessorize the dogs for photos. From there, I drove out to our PO Box in Jurupa Valley. I received and email that Max and Neo had sent a donation box so I wanted to pick that up, By the time I left the post office, it was time to get home for lunch and to start all of the afternoon 'desk work'... Bottled waters, large bag of recyclables, Animal Victory Holiday Love Bags, crackers, jam, flavored waters, Premier protein shakes, large stainless steel pet dish, large and xlarge Christmas dog collars, individual bags of dog treats, 3-20lb. bags of dog food from the Star Milling Company, 17lb. bag of cat food from the Star Milling Company, wet dog food, wet cat food, Inaba twins for dogs, Inaba meal toppers, Inaba juicy bites, Inaba Churus, plush squeaky Christmas dog toys, Christmas cat toys, chicken jerky treats, buffalo tendons, bully sticks and squeaky Kong balls were shared.
After I finished baking four dozen cupcakes to take to Riverside County Department of Animal Services tomorrow, I drove to the Path of Life Community Shelter on the Eastside. I visited with five pets that are in the kennels there, provided a few supplies and had fun dressing three of them up in Chri stmas accessories. When I left that location, I drove to another location on the Eastside and visited with a dog there. He received a few supplies and we put Christmas accessories on him too. He also received a holiday sweater that I happened to have with the pet jackets in my vehicle. From there I drove out to Jurupa Valley to mail a couple of receipts to grant donors and to get fuel. I then went home, for a bit, but went back out to meet our volunteer grant writer, Kathy Martinez, for lunch. After our lunch, I spent time working on social media, emails, phone calls, texts and put frosting on the cupcakes I baked earlier... Bottled waters, large leash, Christmas pet accessories, Christmas pet sweater, individual bags of dog treats, 20lb. bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, wet dog food, Inaba twins for dogs, chicken jerky treats, buffalo tendons, bully sticks and squeaky Kong balls were shared.
A group of women, who retired from Kaiser, got together and collected monetary donations for us. We were supposed to meet for lunch on Wednesday. I was dealing with vehicle issues and was unable to make it so one of the women and I agreed to meet, this morning, in the parking lot of Riverside County Animal Services. On my way, I stopped to visit a dog, and her companion, in the CircleK parking lot. I gave them a few supplies and we had fun putting Christmas accessories on the dog. (Not sure how much fun she was having though. Lol). From there, I went to meet with Sharon Mogi. She gave me a card and the cash they had collected. While we were talking, a gentleman came up from the river bottom with four small dogs. He did not speak much English but did say that the one dog did not belong to him. I checked it for a chip but did not find one. He was going to turn it in. It seems as if two of his dogs were chipped but not sure if they were spayed/neutered. I gave him my card and asked that he have someone call me to see if there is anything I can do to help. When I left that location, I drove to the west side of Riverside to meet someone staying in one of the motels there. He, and his dog, received an AV Holiday Love Bag as well as supplies. We put some accessories on that dog too. From there, I drove back across town and out to a location in Jurupa Valley to meet with a senior, gentle giant, and his companion. I provided them an AV Holiday Love Bag and other supplies. We were able to accessorize the dog but it was not an easy task keeping the glasses on for more than a couple of seconds. I tried to meet up with some other people, out in Jurupa Valley, but nobody was available so I called it a day by 11:30am in order to start working from home... Bottled waters, Premier protein shakes, cups of pho noodles, xl handmade pet jacket, Animal Victory Holiday Love Bags, Christmas pet accessories, large stainless steel pet dish, 2-20lb. bags of dog food from the Star Milling Company, wet dog food, Inaba meal toppers, Inaba twins for dogs, chicken jerky treats, buffalo tendons and bully sticks were shared.
I thought I was going to be meeting with a group of people, in Colton, this morning. I was told they needed pet food and I planned on giving the pets their 2025 Animal Victory Holiday Love Bags too. Unfortunately, the only person who showed up was someone who has already received food and the gift bag, I did give her some other supplies for her and her dog(s). When I left that location, I drove over to Fairmount Park. It was surprisingly quiet there but I did find one person that I knew had a dog so I parked in the nearest parking lot. I have known her dog for many years but was surprised to find that she had a small puppy with her. Unfortunately, he was fathered by a dog I have been trying to get neutered for a couple of years now. As cute as his puppies are, there are so many of them and I wish he would stop breeding the dog. In any case, I gave the senior dog and her companion an Animal Victory Holiday Love Bag and some other supplies. The puppy received a toy and chew stick. I drove through the rest of the park, when we were done, but did not find anyone else with pets. I continued on to our PO Box in Jurupa Valley where I was happy to find a couple of donation/grant checks... Bottled waters, flavored waters, Premier protein shakes, cups of pho noodles, Subway gift card, 3 handmade pet jackets, puppy training pads, 4.5 pound bag of small bites senior dog food, Animal Victory Holiday Love Bag, Inaba churu bites, Inaba twins for dogs, plush squeaky Christmas dog toys, chicken jerky treats, kabob chew sticks, buffalo tendons and bully sticks were shared.
I made two stops today. The first was on the Eastside of Riverside. I parked on the street, in front of the Path of Life Community Shelter kennels and walked in through the gates to visit some of the pets. I spent time with nine of them. Two more received their Animal Victory Holiday Love Bags. I also met with a couple of other people outside the gate by my vehicle and was able to give to more pets, and their companions, the Animal Victory Holiday Love Bags. I needed to go across town to our storage units and had a zoom meeting this morning which did not give me any time to visit with anymore pets. I went to storage and picked up the last six Animal Victory Holiday Love Bags, some waters, dog food and a few other things I had put aside for this coming week. I went straight home from there, unloaded some of the items I had picked up and then made it just in time for my zoom meeting. After lunch, I worked on social media, emails, text messages, phone calls and a few other things that were sitting on my desk... Bottled waters, large box of socks, Animal Victory Holiday Love Bags, 20lb. bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, Inaba meal toppers, wet dog food, plush squeaky Christmas dog toys, chicken jerky treats, kabob chew sticks, buffalo tendons and bully sticks were shared.
I had an appointment to get to this morning but I still made time to get over to the Jurupa Valley Motel6 and check on the three dogs recuperating from their spay/neuter surgeries. The fourth dog was being cared for in a home so he did not need a room. While I was at the motel, I met with a woman who recently lost her home. She is staying in a room with her three pugs. She brought one down to meet me and I provided her with an Animal Victory Holiday Love Bag and a few supplies. When I left the motel, I ran a quick errand, stopped at home to let my dog out for a minute and then went to my appointment. My final stop was to mail something at the Post Office and then I headed back home to start my daily routine of social media, emailing, answering calls, answering text messages and scheduling spay/neuter appointments... Bottled waters, Animal Victory Holiday Love Bag, a 20lb. bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, plush squeaky Christmas dog toys, chicken jerky treats, kabob chew sticks and bully sticks were shared.
We had four pets scheduled for 'the works' today. All arrived and on time which was great! Two other people asked for the services but never made appointments. The pets scheduled were all dogs. There were two males and two females. Three of those dogs were referrals from FeeFeeding Perris Straysd a volunteer transported two of them to the clinic at RivRiverside County Animal Serviceshank You to them and their volunteer. One of the dog's was coming from the Path of Life Community Shelter. A woman who stays in the shelter, and has two dogs of her own that we have spayed, is the person who transported that dog. Thank You to her for doing that. I also want to thank Pam Shimanek for driving me, and the supplies I needed, to the clinic. Thank You to the AniAnimal Victory25 'Home Street Home' project for donations that paid for the services today, the motel rooms where the pets will begin to recuperate as well as for the Holiday Love Bags the pets and their companions received. "One by one we get them done, because the only way to combat pet overpopulation and euthanasia in our shelters is to spay and neuter." Bottled waters, ARCO fuel cards, xl collar, large leash, Animal Victory Holiday Love Bags and 3-20lb. bags of dog food from the Star Milling Company were shared.
I went out twice today. The first time was just so I could go to our storage units. At 7am, I was at Riverside Self Storage picking up pet food, waters and more Animal Victory Holiday Love Bags. I packed as much as I could in my vehicle, drove home, unloaded and then restocked for today's travels. When I went out the second time, I made my first stop in Rubidoux. I visited a couple of dogs and provided supplies. From there, I went to Fairmount Park. I had been asked to bring dog food to someone but he never called back to confirm a time. I decided to just drive over there to see if I could find him or if anyone knew where he was. I did see a few people but nobody knew where he was so I left messages for them to let him, know I came by. When I was leaving the park, something happened that I don't feel like getting into right now. I went straight home after that. I will say that it looks like I will probably be getting a rental car tomorrow, after I am done with the spay and neuter appointments. I will thank Pam Shimanek, in advance, for her willingness to help again... Bottled waters, cheese, crackers, Animal Victory Holiday Love Bags, 20 lb. bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, Inaba meal toppers for dogs, plush squeaky Christmas pet toy, chicken jerky treats and bully sticks were shared.
Yesterday, I took the day off to finish preparations for my holiday dinner. I was back on the streets today. I started the morning on the Eastside, in front of the kennels, at the Path of Life Community Shelter. I visited with six pets and provided a few supplies. From there, I drove out to the Motel6 in Jurupa Valley to visit with and provide supplies for a couple of people staying in rooms with their dogs. When I was done at that location, I made a trip to Costco to pick up dog treats and chews, before stopping at the vet to get my dog some allergy meds and medicated shampoo. My final stop was at the post office. I mailed a couple of cards and found a very nice holiday card with a donation check inside... Bottled waters, Animal Victory Holiday Love Bags, 20 lb. bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, Inaba meal toppers for dogs, wet dog food, chicken jerky treats, bully sticks and buffalo tendons, were shared.
Today's travels were spent at Fairmount Park. There were over a dozen pets there, with their companions, but I just visited with six of them. They received needed supplies and a few of the other pets also received treats and/or chew sticks. When I left the park, I drove to our PO Box in Jurupa Valley. There was a donation check inside of a card. The donor wrote some very nice things in the card and it felt good to read them. When I got back home, I started cooking and baking again while also working on my social media, emails, texts and phone calls. Even though I won't have too much more to get done tomorrow, I am still going to take the day off so I can finish what I started and enjoy the first night of my holiday... Bottled waters, Animal Victory Holiday Love Bags, medium dog collar, large dog leash, 2 slip leads, plush Christmas dog toys, 4-20 lb. bags of dog food from the Star Milling Company, Inaba meal toppers for dogs, wet dog food, 8 pound bag of Purina senior dog food, k9 glucosamine chews, chicken jerky treats, bully sticks and buffalo tendons, were shared.
I started the morning on the Eastside of Riverside at the Path of Life Community Shelter. I visited with six pets. I photographed four of them and they each received an Animal Victory Holiday Love Bag as well as other supplies. From there, I drove across town. I was receiving our 720 pounds of pet food from the Star Milling Company at our storage units. On my way, I dropped off a bag of my homemade soup and baked goods to the workplace of a friend. In addition to the pet food coming in, I also had someone bringing me a donation from Inaba and had others meeting me to pick up the bags of soup and baked goods I made for them. Next stop was our PO Box in Jurupa Valley and then I finally arrived back home in time for lunch. I was supposed to meet with an independent filmmaker tomorrow. We have been emailing for months. He is doing a documentary on some rescues and wanted to include the work we do in that but he came down with the flu and we have to postpone. I have cooking and baking to get done so that means I will have a little extra time now. I already planned on taking Sunday off but now I won't have to spend that entire day in the kitchen, because I can get a little bit more done Saturday afternoon/evening... Bottled waters, Animal Victory Holiday Love Bags, plush Christmas dog toys, 2-3.5 pound bags of Pedigree for small dogs, chicken jerky treats, bully sticks, buffalo tendons, bully sticks and kabob chew sticks were shared.
When I went to get fuel, this morning, I noticed a familiar vehicle in the parking lot. I know the gentleman, and the dog, so I stopped to give them one of the 2025 Animal Victory 'Home Street Home' Holiday Love Bags. When I left that location, I drove out to the Jurupa Valley Motel6 to check on the dogs that were spayed and neutered yesterday. The companion of one of them was concerned about her dog last night and then again this morning but she was fine once we talked about what was going on. There were three other dogs at the motel so received a variety of supplies. I did not plan to go anywhere else, die to the fact that I started cooking for my holiday and needed to get back to it as well as having to go to the hardware store to see if they had a part I needed. Last night, one of the smoke/carbon detectors began 'chirping'. It is hard wired and has batteries that connect to four others. I can't reach any of them but was able to get on a ladder and use a broom to push the reset button. Unfortunately, that only kept it quiet for a few minutes. I called different maintenance people but could not reach anyone. Thankfully, a friend texted and told me her husband would come over to help. They came over about forty five minutes later and we found out the batteries were all good but one of the detectors was not. The chirping was temporarily stopped. I ordered a new detector, and batteries. As soon as they come in, the job will be finished and I pray I don't hear that chirping again for a very long time!... Bottled waters, puppy training pads, Animal Victory Holiday Love Bags, plush Christmas dog toys, chicken jerky treats, bully sticks, buffalo tendons and kabob chew sticks were shared.
We had six dogs scheduled for 'the works' today. They were five females and one male. Two of those people each had two. Neither of them bothered to show up, reply to texts or calls. I waited an hour just incase but nothing. The other two people had one dog. Thankfully, each showed up with their pets and were on time. One of them even had a puppy friend riding with her but he was not old enough to get neutered yet. Grateful for the two that got done and hoping for a better turn out next week. "One by one we get them done, because the only way to combat pet overpopulation and euthanasia in our shelters is to spay and neuter." Bottled waters, ARCO fuel cards, 3 handmade pet jackets, large collar, large leash, 2-20lb. bags of dog food from the Star Milling Company, plush Christmas dog toys and a kabob chew stick were shared.
My first stop of the day was in the parking lot of the Riverside County Department of Animal Services where I met with a couple, two of their cats and their dog. From there I drove out to Fairmount Park. I met up with one companion and his dog first and then I drove to another area where I saw someone else with a dog. I visited with, and provided supplies for, a total of five pets and was happy to distribute a few more of the 2025 Animal Victory 'Home Street Home' Holiday Love Bags. When I left the park, I made a brief stop at home, for my own dog, and then went to meet someone for lunch. The rest of the week, and week-end, are going to be crazy busy so it was nice to take an hour or so to relax and enjoy the company of a friend. As soon as I got home, I was answering calls, emails, texts, editing photos, posting to social media and getting everything ready for tomorrow's spay/neuter day... Bottled waters, XL dog harness, 2 small harnesses, cat toys, Animal Victory Holiday Love Bags, chicken jerky treats, 2-20 lb. bags of dog food from the Star Milling Company, 17 lb. bag of cat food from the Star Milling Company, squeaky balls, buffalo tendons and bully sticks were shared.
Yesterday, I went to a memoria service of a dear friend and did not do my daily travels. I got back out there today and began distributing the 2025 Animal Victory 'Home Street Home' Holiday Love Bags. I visited four pets on the Eastside. Two at the Path of Life Community Shelter, three in the parking lot of the Budge Inn and one on University and Victoria. Many of the people we provide services for have multiple pets but I am limiting each family to one bag and bringing extra toys, and things, for the other pets. If there are extra bags, once that is done, then I will start giving people a second but I don't see that happening. For those that do not receive a bag, and even many that do, I have some Christmas accessories to put on their pets so I can photograph them and then share the photo with the companion(s). Everyone seemed to like that, when I did it in the past. After the visits were done, I drove out to our storage units again. I picked up more of the Holiday Love Bags, a few bags of dog food and a case of water. We are almost out of water now so I am trying to figure out how and when to get another pallet. I have a very busy week planned and then my holiday begins Sunday night. I will be cooking at the end of the week and over the week-end so I can enjoy some time with my family. I will definitely have to take Sunday off to get everything done but I will resume my daily travels the following day, while I continue celebrating the other seven days of my holiday and do what I can to make Christmas a little more special for the pets I visit... Bottled waters, large Christmas dog collar, 4 Animal Victory Holiday Love Bags, , chicken jerky treats, 2-20 lb. bags of dog food from the Star Milling Company, squeaky plastic pet toys, plush squeaky pet toys, squeaky balls, buffalo tendons and kabob chew sticks were shared.
This morning, I drove to the Eastside and stopped at the kennels in front of the Path of Life Community Shelter. I visited with eight dogs. Two of them, I had not met before. They were a male and female. The companion told me the six-year-old female has had sixty puppies. She is spayed now but the male is unaltered. He said that is his breeder dog. I explained why the breeding was such a horrible idea and he told me the male would be going to Tennessee. Not sure what difference that makes but it is his choice and all I can do is offer our services. When I left that location, I headed back to Jurupa Valley. I was supposed to be getting a letter that needed my signature but it was not at the PO Box. I went home from there so I could make it to a zoom meeting that was scheduled. The rest of the day was spent doing the work that has to be done daily at my desk... Bottled waters, handmade pet jacket, Max and Neo leash, chicken jerky treats, individual bags of dog treats, wet dog food, simply cesar chicken, bully sticks, buffalo tendons and kabob chew sticks were shared.
When I looked at my bank statement this morning, I noticed that there was no motel room charge for the companion with the three dogs that were neutered yesterday. I contacted her to find out what happened. The dogs were ok but she was unable to get a ride to the motel, after she picked them up. I asked her if she could get one today and she said yes so I called the motel and was able to get her an early check in. When I left home, I went to the motel but she had not arrived yet so I visited the kitty that was spayed. It was cold last night so I reserved a room for her, her canine sister and her companions. There was a vehicle in the parking lot that I recognized as belonging to someone with two dogs so I went to their room next. When I was done with them, the companion of the three dogs showed up. I gave her some collars and leashes as well as a few other items. One of those was a Subway gift card. It was her birthday yesterday and nothing was going right for her so I wanted to do something extra. When I left the motel, I went to our PO Box and found a donation check had been delivered there. It was definitely a welcome surprise. I made one more stop and that was to pick up something I needed to bake another batch of cookies for a memorial I am going to this week-end and then I went home... Bottled waters, Subway gift card, puppy training pads, large collar and leash set, 2 large leashes, medium dog collar, chicken jerky treats, individual bags of dog treats, Inaba Churu Bites, Inaba Churus, kabob chew sticks and bully sticks were shared.
We had six pets scheduled for 'the works' today. There were four male dogs, one female dog and one female kitten. I got up a little before 5am and saw that I had a text. It was from one of the companions of two of the dogs that were supposed to be spayed/neutered. She said she was at Urgent Care. I have a list going for next week but there really wasn't any time to try and switch any of them to today so I couldn't fill the appointments. The couple with the kitten arrived on time but I was waiting for the companion of a male dog and two of the male puppies he fathered. I received a text telling me they had to put air in their tires and then they would make their appointments. They were an hour late but the clinic was ok with them checking in then so I waited. Last week, we spayed the mama of the puppies that are being done today. I am trying to spay/neuter as many as possible, in this family, so the litters stop. I know some of the puppies were already given away but I will find out how many adults and puppies are remaining and work on those. When I left the clinic, I went home briefly and then back out to our storage units again. I wanted to drop off the box that came with the Animal Victory Holiday Love Bags and start sorting what will be going in them when I have one or two volunteers this Saturday to help fill them. I was also meeting with someone who has helped many times with kittens/cats needing spayed/neutered and/or rescued. I wanted to give her some cat food to help with the great TNR work she does. When I left storage, I went to our PO Box to pick up a supply donation someone sent from Chewy and then I went back home. "One by one we get them done, because the only way to combat pet overpopulation and euthanasia in our shelters is to spay and neuter" Bottled waters, ARCO fuel cards, slip lead, cat toys, 3.5 pound bag of Pedigree for puppies, 20 lb. bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company were shared.
I had today all planned out and then made some last minute changes last night. I started today's travels in the parking lot of the Riverside County Department of Animal Services. I met a couple that stay nearby in the river bottom. Their dog received 'the works' a long time ago and I have spayed/neutered multiple cats from that area. The woman takes care of any stray kittens that wander down there and she always makes sure we get them spayed/neutered. Until this morning, all of her kittens were full grown cats so we had not done anything for awhile. However, she did bring a kitten for me to meet and there is now a spay appointment set for tomorrow. When I left that location, I went to mail a package and check our PO Box. One of our supporters was kind enough to send a harness for a dog named 'Butch' so I decided to bring it to him right away. Unfortunately, I never made it to that part of the park. As I was driving through, I spotted a chihuahua running across the way and he was favoring his left front paw. I spoke to some of the park maintenance guys but all they had to say was that there were two dogs and that they had been there since yesterday, if not before. They did not bother to try and get help for the dogs and assumed they belonged to someone homeless. I told them they did not but even if they did, they needed help so they did not get run over, taken or hurt by other dogs or animals. They did not seem concerned but I could not leave. I grabbed a bag of treats and walked into the parking lot where I now saw the chihuahua and a miniature poodle. The poodle had on a bandana and seemed to have been groomed recently. He also had an eye that looked like it might need treated with some drops or something. I sat on a curb for about thirty minutes. One came to me right away but the other not so fast. I was finally able to pet them but wasn't sure about picking them up. I did not want to chance either of them running off. A woman who stays in her vehicle happened to be in the parking lot with her dogs. She recognized me, because I spayed/neutered two of her dogs previously. I asked if she would stick around for a bit and I went to get a couple of slip leads from my vehicle. I called some at the Riverside County Department of Animal Services and asked for an officer. He said they were short handed but he would send someone. As soon as we had the dogs on leads that made things easier and an ACO showed up within the next twenty minutes or so. One of the dogs was chipped but it was confusing as to who the actual owner was and where they were. Long story short, the dogs are now impounded and if they don't get reclaimed, I will do my best to get them out. Both were a bit nervous but very sweet. When the ACO left, I went to bring a few things to the woman who helped me with them and then I had to get home. I never did make it to bring the harness to the dog I was there to see but I am pretty sure helping those little dogs was what I was supposed to be doing there so I will bring it to him next time... Bottled waters, Premier protein shakes, Subway gift card, handmade fleece pet jacket, chicken jerky treats, 3lb. bag of kitten food, wet kitten food, 17 pound bag of cat food from the Star Milling Company, wet cat food, Inaba Twins, Inaba meal toppers, Inaba tuna fillets, Inaba Churus, Inaba chicken fillets, 2-20lb. bags of dog food from the Star Milling Company, wet dog food, plush squeaky Christmas pet toy, buffalo tendons, kabob chew sticks and bully sticks were shared.
12-01-2025 Monday On The Move 12-01-2025 20251201 On my way to the Path of Life Community Shelter, I stopped at the workplace of the wife of the gentleman who does our website. I usually bring a bag of baked good each month and a few items for their kitties. I was unable to do so in November, due to my being three weeks without a vehicle. I don't usually drop anything off this early in the month but I wanted to be sure to do so, before all of the 'holiday madness' begins. From there I drove to the Eastside and parked on Massachusetts in front of the kennels set up for pets. I visited with four pets and made arrangements to provide 'the works' for two of them on Wednesday. When I left that location, I ran a personal errand and then drove back over to our storage units to pick up a few more bags of dog food. I went home, after that. My second trip out was so I could mail a package and check our PO Box. I drove around Jurupa Valley, while I was out, but did not see anyone with pets so I called it a day... Bottled waters, chicken jerky treats, dog shedding shampoo and conditioner and bully sticks were shared.
