Saturday's Smiles 5-31-2025

My first stop was supposed to be to meet some people with their pets at a river bottom outlet by the Fed-Ex trucking facility in Jurupa Valley. Nobody ever got back to me yesterday nor did they answer texts or calls this morning so my plans fell through. I wanted to talk to a couple of people to find out if they contacted Feeding Pets of the Homeless or any other resources to get medical help for their pets. I went to Fairmount Park first and found one of the companion's. She had not called yet but will most likely do so on Monday. While I was there, I visited with both of her dogs and another dog that was there as well. They all received supplies. From there, I went to a location in Rubidoux. That dog's companion had not been able to charge her phone so she had not been able to reach out to look for assistance for the growth on her dog's paw. I am hoping she can get the phone charged by Monday and find an organization to assist with the dog's exam. When I left that location, I drove to a few other areas of Jurupa Valley but did not find anyone else so I checked our (empty) PO Box and went home to have lunch and begin my afternoon work routine... Bottled Waters, large bag of recyclables, medium dog harness, chicken jerky treats, wet dog food, DASHI meal toppers, bully slices, bully sticks, peanut butter knot chews, buffalo tendons and kabob chew sticks were shared.

Friday's Furry Friends 5-30-2025

With the weather forecast predicting close to triple digits, I planned my daily travels so I would get back home around 11am. I was asked to bring someone dog food at the Path of Life Community Shelter. I had planned to go there anyway so that worked out great. While I was parked on Massachusetts, I visited with pets staying in the kennels there as well as one that is with her companion on the street while they try to get beds in the shelter. The visits included providing supplies to those who needed them. From there I drove to the Budget Inn to say good-bye to a dog I have been visiting for the past twelve years. They were in the river bottom for a long time and were recently put in a motel. They finally found a place with a room to rent in San Bernardino and will be living there as of June 1st. The dog is old and has health issues so I am not sure if I will be seeing him again but I am thankful they are going to be our of the river bottom, the motel and in a place that feels more permanent. After that, I stopped for fuel, to get produce for my tortoise, checked our PO Box, where I was very happy to find a donation check and then went back home to start the work that gets done from there... Bottled Waters, FURminator de-shedding tool, medium dog collar, large dog leash, 20-pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, chicken jerky treats, wet dog food, DASHI meal toppers, bully slices, bully sticks, peanut butter knot chews, buffalo tendons and kabob chew sticks were shared

Thursday's Treasures 5-29-2025

Yesterday, we provided 'the works' for seven pets. Two of those pets are part of a program in Redlands and did not need motel rooms. The other five were put in rooms with their companions. This morning, I went to check on those five. I also had an opportunity to visit with, and provide supplies for, three others. When I left that location, I drove to the nearest freeway onramp and headed across town to our storage units where I loaded up pet food, waters, leashes and collars. I made a quick run into Trader Joe's and then went home. Someone was doing some work at my house so I asked my daughter if she wanted to go to lunch. She has been going to the Mary S. Robert's Pet Adoption Center and taking a dog out for the day. She had one with her today so we needed to eat outside. We wound up at Chipotle for about an hour, before I had to get back home... Bottled Waters, Premier protein shakes, 4.5 pound bag of senior dog food, wet dog food, DASHI meal toppers, bully slices and kabob chew sticks were shared.

#2,307,08,09,10,11,12 & #2,313 Get 'The Works' 5-28-2025

May has been a busy month for our spay/neuter services. Even though there were only four Wednesdays this month, we managed to provide 'the works' for 26 pets. There were 20 dogs and 6 cats. The most we could have gotten done was a total of twenty-eight so I am very thankful for what was accomplished... Even with a grant and a pledge, we spent $1,700.00 today for pets to receive 'the works' and for motel rooms. (That does not include the ARCO fuel cards we shared with the companions). Donations would be very much appreciated... We had seven pets scheduled for 'the works' today. There were two male dogs and one female cat scheduled for the Riverside County Department of Animal Services spy/neuter clinic. There were two female dogs and two male dogs scheduled for the Mary S. Robert's spay/neuter clinic... I arrived at the first facility around 7:15am. Two of the people had already arrived, from Redlands, with their pets. At 7:30am, the staff brought out paperwork. The third pet did not arrive until 7:45am but I we had him checked in by 8am. I drove home to take care of my own dog and then went back out to the second facility. I arrived a little before 9am and the person meeting me with the four dogs being done there showed up a little after 9am. By 10am all four were checked in. I did get a call saying that one of the dog's needing her dew claws removed, an e-collar and meds so I approved the extra services. Thanks To Riverside County Department of Animal Services, one of the dogs fees were covered under the Healthy Pet Zone Fund. Thanks to a pledge from Actors and Others for Animals, the cost for the four small dogs spay/neuter services were lowered. "One by one we get them done, because the only way to combat pet overpopulation and euthanasia in our shelters is to spay and neuter... Bottled Waters, ARCO fuel cards, small harness, small leash, large leash, 3.5 pound bag of Pedigree small bites, wet dog food, DASHI meal toppers, 20-pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, cat toys and a plush squeaky toy were shared.

Tuesday's Treasures 5-27-2025

On my way to Fairmont Park, I drove to a river bottom outlet in an industrial area of Jurupa Valley. I did not find anyone there so I continued on to the park. I visited with and provided supplies for five dogs. Three of those I had never met before. The police, outreach and code enforcement showed up while I was there. I did not stay long after that. I did give the number of Feeding Pets of the Homeless to a woman who has a dog that may need his cherry eye checked out as well as a nail that might be getting infected. If they approve a visit, Taking It To The Streets with Lori and Shira will pay for him to get 'the works' too. When I left the park, I drove to our (empty) PO Box and then went home. In addition to my usual afternoon work related tasks, I confirmed the spay and neuter appointments for tomorrow, contacted Actors and Others for Animals, discussed surrendering two small dogs with a rescue and set up motel reservations... Bottled Waters, dog harness, chicken jerky treats, wet dog food, DASHI meal toppers, 20-pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, bully slices, kabob chew sticks, bully sticks and buffalo tendons were shared.

Monday On The Move 5-26-2025

The Access Center is closed on holidays so I wasn't sure if anyone would be outside of the Path of Life Community Shelter with their pets today. I decided to drive over there anyway but wound up being sidetracked. There was a very long line of motorcycles making their way to the convention center parking lot which made it impossible for me to turn on Third Street. I decided to take a detour and go visit 'Solo' and his companion first. I was happy to see his sutures were out from his recent tumor removals. In addition, the biopsy results showed the tumors were benign. I know he is a senior but I am hoping that means he has many more years ahead of him. When I left that location, I drove over by the Path of Life Community Shelter. I saw a dog, I did not recognize, tied to a fence on Massachusetts. There were a few tents set up near the dog but I did not know who was inside of them. I saw another dog I recognized too but she was under a tart sleeping with her companion so I kept driving. I went over to Fairmount Park to see if there was anything going on over there. I immediately spotted a vehicle I recognized and pulled in to one of the parking lots. The person who lives in that vehicle has two dogs so I stopped for a visit. While doing so, I met a gentleman with a puppy. He had called me recently but the puppy was too young for our services. We had a long talk and I promised to help provide her with 'the works' when she gets older. I drove through Rubidoux and a few areas of Jurupa Valley afterwards but did not see anyone with pets so I went back home and started working from there... Bottled Waters, chicken jerky treats, wet dog food, DASHI meal toppers, xs squeaky Kong ball, plush squeaky toy, Tiller Tugs mini tug, bully slices, kabob chew sticks and buffalo tendons were shared.

Sunday On The Streets 5-25-2025

I was unable to reach a few people, again this morning, so I only wound up making one stop today. A couple brought their two dogs and Two other people brought their two dogs so I was able to visit with and provide supplies for six pets. I was not out as long as I usually am so I went home a little earlier than usual and organized a few things I had been putting off, before starting my daily 'to-do- list for Taking It To The Streets. I'm still not sure what I will be doing tomorrow. It is a holiday so I don't know if anyone will be out with their pets at the Path of Life Community Shelter. I may ride over to the Eastside and check it out or I may go somewhere else. The only thing I do know is that I will be doing my daily travels and hoping to be productive... Bottled Waters, Premier protein shakes, large dog collar, large dog leash, chicken jerky treats, 8 pound bag of senior dog food, 3.5 pound bag of Pedigree for small dogs, 2-20-pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, wet dog food, DASHI meal toppers, k-9 glucosamine chews, 2 large squeaky Kong balls, 2 medium squeaky Kong balls, plush squeaky toy, bully slices, kabob chew sticks and peanut butter knot chews were shared.

Saturday's Smiles 5-24-2025

My plans to meet up with a few different people, at various locations, did not pan out. It was either a case of phones being off or them just not being in the spots I normally find them. Because that was the case, all four pets I visited with were in Rubidoux. Three of them were at one location and the other at a different one. When I was done at the second location, I headed to our (empty) PO Box and then went to the grocery store to pick up some produce for my tortoise. The rest of the day was spent doing all the usual business I can only do from home... Bottled Waters, chicken jerky treats, 20-pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, Inaba Churu Rolls, wet dog food, DASHI meal toppers, bully slices, buffalo tendons, kabob chew sticks and peanut butter knot chews were shared.

Friday's Furry Friends 5-23-2025

I was asked to bring dog food to someone who stays at the Path of Life Community Shelter. Because I usually go there every Friday, I suggested we meet this morning at 9am. That is the time I arrived and I stayed for over half an hour but they never showed up. I did visit with five other pets and provide a few supplies, before heading across town to our storage units. I needed to pick up pet food and waters. Afterwards, I was supposed to meet someone in Jurupa Valley with food for his dogs. I grabbed a few bags of cat food, dog food and three cases of waters, before heading over to meet the gentleman with the dogs needing food. I was able to give them what they needed, check our (empty) PO Box and go back home. I unloaded some of the supplies and reloaded my vehicle for tomorrow, before starting my daily task of editing photos and videos, catching up on texts, emails, phone calls, making spay/neuter appointments and updating today's social media... Bottled Waters, chicken jerky treats, 20 pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, wet dog food, DASHI meal toppers, bully slices, buffalo tendons, bully sticks and peanut butter knot chews were shared.

Thursday's Treasures 5-22-2025

I spent my morning at the Jurupa Valley Motel6. I visited with and provided supplies for a total of ten pets. Yesterday, was an expensive day for us. Even with the discounts, pledges and grants, we still spent over $2,000. We appreciate anyone who made a donation or is planning to. We provided 'the works' for seven dogs. A couple of the people we provided the services for had two dogs so we only needed to rent five motel rooms for the spay/neuter pets. We also rented another room for a dog that was recently provided medical care thanks to Feeding Pets Of The Homeless. That dog was receiving a two night stay while he began to recuperate. He did not have an ID so a friend was going to share the room with another gentleman who has a couple of small dogs we have provided services for and that I had not seen for a very long time. Unfortunately, the companion of the dog we actually reserved the room for did not make it. The gentleman with the ID did and the room was already paid for so they got abreak from the heat. They never got a room last Summer when we put people in rooms so I did not feel too bad about the room not getting used for its original purpose. I was thankful that I was able to check on all seven pets that received 'the works' as well as visit with three others... Bottled Waters, Premier protein shakes, chicken jerky treats, large leash, small leash, medium dog harness, 2 medium stainless steel pet dishes, 4.5 pound bag of small bites senior dog food, 20-pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, wet dog food, DASHI meal toppers, kabob chew sticks, bully slices, bully sticks and peanut butter knot chews were shared.

#2,300! #2,301,302,303,304,305 & #2,306 Got 'The Works' 5-21-2025

We had seven pets scheduled for 'the works' today. Four female dogs and three male dogs had confirmed appointments. The first two to arrive at the Riverside County Department of Animal Services spay/neuter clinic were the two female sisters. The male almost did not make it. They texted saying the Sheriff's Department was giving trespassing tickets in the area where the people stay with their dogs. Thankfully, they did make it so we had all three pets checked in by a little after 8am. One of those was having all of her services paid for by the Riverside County Department of Animal Services Healthy Pet Zone Fund. When I left there, I stopped for fuel and then made a quick trip home before heading back out to the Mary S. Robert's spay/neuter clinic. I am thankful to share that all of the pets arrived and mostly in time. One person brought her two dogs and then two others each brought one. Two of the dogs were over thirty pounds so the neuter portion of their services were being paid by a grant from the Mary S. Robert's Pet Adoption Center. The other two dogs were under thirty pounds but we were able to get a pledge from Actors and Others for Animals that will help lower our cost for their spay surgeries. Last week we did seven pets but did not get any donations towards any of their services or their motel stays. I am hoping that changes for the seven we are doing today. "One by one we get them done, because the only way to combat pet overpopulation and euthanasia in our shelters is to spay and neuter." Bottled Waters, ARCO fuel cards, large Kong leash, 2 small leashes, Max and Neo Dog Gear small dog collar, 2 large dog collars, 3-20 pound bags of dog food from the Star Milling Company, 3.5 pound bag of puppy food, plush squeaky toy DASHI meal toppers and a collapsible dish with leash clip were shared.

Tuesday's Treasures 5-20-2025

My first stop of the day was at a river bottom outlet in Jurupa Valley near the Fed-Ex facility on Holly. I met with two dogs and their companion as well as another dog and his companion. It was already heating up and I needed to make another stop or two so I provided them with needed supplies and then headed to Rubidoux. I visited with one dog there and provided his companion with supplies for him and his feline sister. From there I drove around Rubidoux and a couple locations in Jurupa Valley but did not find anyone else with pets. I went to our PO Box to pick up a supply donation that arrived and then I went home to unload it, load up for tomorrow's spay/neuter day and go back out for lunch plans with a dear friend I have had for 60+ years. When I got in, I set up motel reservations for the pets being spayed/neutered tomorrow. Sometimes I wait until the day of to be sure everyone shows up so I don't have to cancel but I took my chances. I am thinking positive thoughts that everyone will keep their commitments! Bottled Waters, large dog collar, plush squeaky toy, 3.5 pound bag of small bites dog food, 2-20 pound bags of dog food from the Star Milling Company, 17-pound bag of cat food from the Star Milling Company, chicken jerky treats, wet dog food, DASHI meal toppers, kabob chew sticks, bully slices, buffalo tendons and peanut butter knot chews were shared.

Monday On The Move 5-19-2025

I had a very busy morning that did not turn out to be nearly as productive as I would have liked. My first stop was going to be at the Path of Life Community Shelter on the Eastside but nobody was out with their pets. I decided to drive over to Hunter Park and see if a dog we just spayed was there with her companion. I made two phone calls on the way and both of those people met with me at the park. I did not see the gentleman with the recently spayed dog but did visit with, and provide supplies for, two other dogs and their companions. When I left that location, I drove back by the Path of Life Community Shelter and surrounding streets but did not see anyone with pets. I then drove through Fairmount Park, a river bottom outlet in an industrial area of Jurupa Valley and two locations in Rubidoux. I didn't have any luck. By this time, I had been out for a couple of hours and did not want to waste anymore fuel today so I checked our PO Box and then went home. I have been scheduling this week's spay/neuter appointments and working on where to go tomorrow... Bottled Waters, 3.5 pound bag of small bites dog food, chicken jerky treats, wet dog food, DASHI meal toppers, kabob chew sticks, buffalo tendons and peanut butter knot chews were shared.

Saturday's Smiles 5-17-2025

Yesterday, I received a call from someone whose dog had a gash on his leg. I was asked to verify his homelessness with Feeding Pets Of The Homeless which I did. He was not able to get a vet appointment until Monday so I thought I would go take a look at it and see if there was anything I could do to help in the meantime. I drove to where they were parked but the RV was not there. I guess they were told to move so I didn't get to see the dog. From there, I drove to the Eastside to visit a couple of dogs that are only at their location on the week-ends. On my way there, I received a call about an injured dog at Fairmount Park. I suggested they call Animal Control and I stopped to visit the two dogs and provide supplies. I also stopped at a nearby motel to check on another dog and found out their motel voucher ends on the first. With the option of Section8 being gone now, housing is even more difficult to secure so these two will be homeless again. Not sure where they will go being that Code Enforcement continues to remove people from where they stay and there really isn't anywhere to go. It's a mess for sure... When I left the motel I drove over to Fairmount Park to try and find out if anything had happened with the dog. I found someone who often stays there with her two dogs but she did not know anything about the dog I was describing. I could not find the person who contacted me and her phone went straight to voicemail. I hope she was able to get some help. From there, I drove across town to meet someone who texted for dog food. She stays near the old Sears store. I could not find her so I texted and drove over to our storage units to pick up some pet food. When I was done doing that, I met her in the Chevron parking lot. I gave the dog some treats and sent them off with the items she needed. I went straight home from there... Waters, Premier protein shakes, chicken jerky treats, wet dog food, DASHI meal toppers, 8-pound bag of senior dog food, 20-pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, bully slices, kabob chew sticks, buffalo tendons, peanut butter knot chews and a large squeaky ball were shared.

Friday's Furry Friends 5-16-2025

Last night, I received two texts at the same time. One had good news and the other was very sad. The bad news had to do with a senior boxer I have known for many years. Her companion told me she passed. I asked if she wanted to have the dog cremated and she said she did so we will took care of the cost of doing that and made a post seeking donations to help us recuperate what was spent. The good news had to do with a dog with two broken legs, her sister and their mama. Because their companion kept being moved from place to place, it was becoming too difficult for him to care for them. He had started to surrender them recently but then couldn't go through with it. Yesterday, he made the tough decision to let them go and they are ow with Labradors and Friends. The other good news had to do with a dog I named 'Hope'. A homeless woman had found her, in bad shape, about a month or so ago. Labradors and Friends took her in. She had a horrible yeast infection, double ear infection, eye infection and not sure what else. With medicated baths and medical treatment she is transforming into the beautiful dog that she is. I am so happy for her and so grateful to the rescue………This morning, I went to the Eastside and parked near the Path of Life Community Shelter. I visited six pets. Three of them have companions that stay in the shelter and they sleep in the kennels at night. After our visits and providing a few supplies I headed out to Costco to pick up a few things. From there I made a quick stop to our (empty) POBox and then went home. As everyone knows, my work doesn't end when I get home but I am done with the fun part by then. LOL... Bottled waters, ear cleaner, large collar, medium collar, 2 large leashes, wet kitten food, chicken jerky treats, bully slices, buffalo tendons and two large squeaky balls were shared.

Thursday's Treasures 5-15-2025

Six of the seven pets we spayed/neutered yesterday are staying at the Jurupa Valley Motel6 for two nights while they begin recuperating. This morning, I went to check on those pets. All but one were doing great. That dog seemed to be struggling with coming off the anesthesia. I suggested her companion go back to the clinic today just to be sure she is ok, because I was concerned about her getting dehydrated. There was one more dog I planned o visiting with but he was not one of the spay/neuter pets. This guy was adopted from the shelter, three years ago as a puppy. His companion is living in her van and was in need of dog food. They met with me at the motel and I was able to give them the food and a few other things. I planned on one more stop, after I left the motel, but the person I was going to meet was not around. I drove to our PO Box to check on a donation package that was supposed to be there. It wasn't but the donor placed a re-order and that should arrive in two to three days... Bottled waters, Premier protein shakes, large collar and leash set, medium collar, 20 pound bags of dog food from the Star Milling Company, chicken jerky treats, wet dog food, Inaba Churus, bully slices, buffalo tendons, kabob chew sticks and DASHI meal toppers were shared.

#2,293, 94, 95, 96, 97, 98 and #2,299 Get 'The Works' 5-14-2025

We had seven pets scheduled for 'the works' today. Four female dogs, two female cats and one male cat. Three were to be done at the Riverside County Department of Animal Services spay/neuter clinic and four at the Mary S. Robert's spay/neuter clinic It was a busy and expensive day! We also reserved 4 motel rooms for 2 nights each... The day got off to a great start with all three pets showing up at the first clinic. Two of them were a few minutes late but not where it caused any issues. The only thing that might have been a problem was the couple that brought their cat and dog had their cat in a bird cage. I wasn't sure it was sturdy enough. I usually try to bring a spare carrier on days people are bringing cats, just incase. It came in handy today. I will get it back tomorrow, when I got to the motel to check on both of their pets. I still had two cats with appointments at the second clinic so I hoped they showed up and were in proper carriers. Before going to the second clinic, I ran home to feed my dog and then headed back out. I am pleased to say that the three people who were supposed to show up with four pets all did so and on time. One of the dog's had an umbilical hernia that needed repair but the other pets only received services we always provide. When I left the second clinic, I went to a nearby car wash where I was finally able to get my car cleaned up, after nearly three months of not doing so. From there I stopped at our PO Box to pick up a couple of supply donations. I went home after that so I could start working on photos and videos for our social media accounts, answer texts, calls and emails. I already have people calling for spay/neuter appointments next Wednesday and will start filling those appointments tomorrow. "One by one we get them done, because the only way to combat pet overpopulation and euthanasia in our shelters is to spay and neuter." Bottled waters, ARCO fuel cards, 3-20 pound bags of dog food from the Star Milling Company, 3-17 pound bags of cat food from the Star Milling Company, wet dog food and DASHI meal toppers were shared.

Tuesday's Treasures 5-13-2025

I took Sunday off and planned to get back to my daily travels yesterday but that never happened. I had an appointment for an AT&T technician to come out. I thought they were going to come first thing in the morning but they kept sending me text messages saying the technician was running late. He didn't actually get to my home until after 4pm. That made me wish I had just gone out but there was no telling if someone might show up and I did not want to chance it. I do not do well sitting in the house all day but I did put some of my time to good use by filling all seven appointments for this week. I was able to email the information needed to the Riverside County Department of Animal Services and put the information for the Mary S. Robert's clinic in the online portal. I also got all of the motel rooms set up for the pets that will be going, with their companions, while they begin recuperating... Today, I went to Fairmount Park and the Salvation Army. I visited with four pets and provided supplies. I did not have time to visit any others, because I had to get over to Riverside Self Storage. Yesterday, Seth Cox was kind enough to pick up our monthly recurring donation of pet food from the Star Milling Company and then hold on to it until we could meet this morning. In addition to meeting him, and sharing more sleeping bags for another organization, I was meeting a couple to share some of the extra dry cat food we had from last month. This couple fixes and feeds so many cats that people dump or leave around the trailer park where they live. They were homeless for many years and although they no longer are, they are provided an important service and I am happy to share if we have extra. When I left storage, I went home to unload supplies and then load the supplies I plan to share tomorrow... Bottled waters, Premier protein shakes, sleeping bags, 17 pound bags of cat food from the Star Milling Company, chicken jerky treats, duck jerky treats, large stainless steel pet dish, doggie waste bags, wet puppy food, DASHI meal toppers, wet dog food, 2 large squeaky tennis balls, buffalo tendons and bully slices were shared.

Saturday's Smiles 5-10-2025

My phone had a major update and I have just about figured out how to make the photo collages fit properly. Hoping to have that all set the next time I post.~ Yesterday, I bought a new outdoor trash pail and a couple boxes of trash bags. The pail is to replace one I keep outdoors and use for my recyclables. When I gather enough, I share them with a companion of a pet, or pets, I visit. After I got home from ACE Hardware, I put on my reading glasses and looked at the receipt. Not sure how but the cashier did not charge me for the pail. It was on the counter and she put the boxes of bags inside but somehow missed it. It was a $45.00 trash pail but regardless of the cost, I knew I needed to go back and pay for it. So, before starting my daily travels, I went and took care of that. When I left that location, I drove out to a river bottom outlet in an industrial area of Jurupa Valley and that is where I spent my time this morning. I stopped at three different areas on the same street, I visited with five pets and provided supplies for a few others. By the time I was done, it was already 90 degrees and I decided to call it a day. I know Summer will be here soon enough and everyday will be like today but I'm not quite ready for it yet! Friday's Furry Friends 5-09-2025

I started my Friday morning like I do most Fridays by going to the Path of Life Community Shelter on the Eastside. The dogs were still in their kennels and nobody was outside with any of them. There was one person on the street with her dog so we visited and I provided them with a few supplies. From there I went to Hunter Park. My reason for going was to meet a gentleman who had left a voicemail, at 7:30am, regarding getting his dog spayed. I called him before heading out today and told him I would come and meet them after I was done by the Path of Life Community Shelter so that is what I did. I gave his dog some treats and a chew stick while we discussed her getting spayed on Wednesday. As I was leaving the park, I called the companion of a dog that had two tumors removed last week. I wanted to see how they were doing. They happened to be visiting an apartment not far from where I was headed next so they met me at a nearby park. We visited and I provided a few supplies before driving to the Budget Inn. The person and dog I went to see was not in their room so I drove through Fairmount Park. Nobody was there with pets so I decided to go to Rubidoux and check on another dog that was supposed to be going to the vet for a growth on her paw. I found out later that Feeding Pets Of The Homeless had already maxed out their spending on this dog and would give a few referrals of other places that might be able to help. My final stop was our PO Box. It was empty but on my way through the parking lot I noticed a woman in a large white SUV with a long piece of cardboard across the windshield. I could not read it at first and then realized someone wrote the word PUPPIES. When I left the post office I drove over to where she was and saw pitbull puppies that looked to be no more than five or six weeks old. I immediately texted an ACO I had been speaking to earlier and then called a Sgt. at Riverside County Department of Animal Services. I was told someone went out there. I wanted to go speak to the woman myself but I could tell I was going to just lose my temper so I decided against it. Just hope the puppies are safe and healthy... Bottled waters, chicken jerky treats, 3.5 pound bag of Pedigree small bites for small dogs, 8 pound bag of senior dog food, DASHI meal toppers, wet dog food, 20-pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, buffalo tendons, bully slices and kabob chew sticks were shared.

Thursday's Treasures 5-08-2025

Let me start out by saying that my Samsung Android did a huge update today and as far as I am concerned it ruined the collage options for photos. That being said, I tried to make the best of it….When pets we have spayed/neutered spend one or two nights in the motel to begin recovery, I go to check on them the day after surgery. Even though we provided 'the works' for five pets, only two of them needed a room. The others had somewhere indoors to go. After getting fuel this morning, I drove over to the motel. I was hoping to visit a few other pets staying in the motel too but I was unable to reach any of their companions. Even though I know their room numbers, I don't disturb them if they don't reply to a text. I was able to check on the two dogs we put in a room. Both seemed to be recuperating nicely. Each of them received 'the works'. The female also had dew claws removed and was given pain meds. The male had a hernia repair and received pain meds too. When I left the motel, I drove around Jurupa Valley for awhile but did not see anyone with pets. I had an 11am nail appointment so I ran home to put my dog out first. He went to the vet this week for some skin issues he seemed to get after his last grooming. While we were there, I also had blood work done. His kidney issues have become full blown kidney disease and his heart murmur went from a four to a five. He is sixteen or seventeen years old. Other than when he was partially paralyzed a couple of times, many years ago, he has been pretty healthy. He has had some teeth pulled too but no emergency vet visits or anything like that. He is drinking larger amounts of water, which alerted me to having his kidneys checked again, but nothing major has been happening. He sleeps a lot but when my daughter comes to visit, he is always excited for the company. I am sure many of you reading this will have advice and I am sure most of it would be well taken but I think all of the decisions will be made by me, and sometimes with ideas from my daughter, being that we are the ones around him and are monitoring his behavior and any signs of things getting worse. Not sure if our time with him will be weeks, months or years but whatever it is, we will figure it out. We won't let him suffer. Right now, he seems pretty content and I am grateful... Bottled waters, chicken jerky and kabob chew sticks were shared.

#2,288, 89, 90, 91 and #2,292 Get 'The Works' 5-07-2025

We had seven pets scheduled for 'the works' today. Two dogs and one cat had appointments confirmed at the Riverside County Department of Animal Services spay/neuter clinic. Two dogs and two cats had appointments confirmed at the Mary S. Robert's spay/neuter clinic. The female cat scheduled for the first clinic was a no show. This is the second time the people have not made it to their appointment, even though they confirmed. An hour after the appointment time, I received a text telling me their ride did not make it. I had to inform them that they will now have to get the cat done somewhere else. I am not wasting anymore appointments. The two dogs did make it. They were referred by Feeding Perris Strays and driven by a couple volunteers for them. The dogs are unsocialized and were not easy to get in but we made it work. Unfortunately, I received a call that the female had a respiratory infection and would not be receiving surgery. They were sending her back with antibiotics and said we could reschedule in a month. It was so difficult getting them there this time so I hope someone can make it work in a few weeks. When I left Riverside County Department of Animal Services, I made a brief trip home and then went back out to the second clinic. The gentleman with two cats showed up and was on time as was the couple with two dogs. I really hoped to start out this month with seven spay/neuter appointments having been done but I am just going to be grateful for the five. Not sure if I shared last month's totals but we did manage to get 18, even with all of the now shows. There were 13 dogs and 5 cats. There were 5 female cats and no male cats. There were 7 female dogs and 6 male dogs. "One by one we get them done, because the only way to combat pet overpopulation and euthanasia in our shelters is to spay and neuter." Bottled waters, ARCO fuel cards, 20-pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company were shared.

Tuesday's Treasures 5-06-2025

Yesterday, I took the day off in order to take my senior dog to the vet. He doesn't do well in the car so I asked my daughter if she would come over and go with us. She said yes and we were able to get him examined and treated. Just waiting for blood work to come back to see if there is more to do. I was going to pick up food and bring it to the house for lunch but she suggested going out. I said I wanted to check our PO Box first so we did. The donation I was hoping for was there. As we were ready to exit the parking lot, we saw a beautiful husky running loose. My daughter insisted we stop and try to catch him. He actually came right to her. The Riverside Department of Animal Services was closed but thanks to Sgt. Jason Sander, we had an ACO there to pick the dog up within thirty minutes. I guess today was my turn! I made a stop at the Salvation Army where I visited with a couple of dogs while their companion was waiting to shower. When I left that location, I drove through Fairmount Park for a second time on my way to Rubidoux and then Agate Park in Jurupa Valley. While driving through the park I saw a very small dog running around. I saw a woman pushing a stroller while walking her chihuahua. The dog kept running from me so I shouted out to her asking if this little dog was hers. She said no. However, the dog seemed very interested in her and her dog so she stuck around for a bit. After a good twenty minutes or so, I was able to touch the dog. He was nervous but I got a few pets in. Soon after, we got a slip lead around his neck. He was fighting it and would not walk but he was no longer running loose. The woman could not stay and the dog would not walk for me. I called Sgt. Sanders to find out if there was an ACO nearby. There was but she was on a call for about an hour. I did not want to stay there that long so I finally just swooped him up off the ground. He was wiggling all over and did not like it but I have a dog car seat in my vehicle and I hooked him in there and off we went, I messaged a rescue on my way to show her the dog and let her know what was going on. I knew she would take him if he needed rescued. It took me about twenty minutes or so to get over to Riverside County Animal Services and no too long before they did his intake. (I will be following the website to check on him and the dog we had picked up yesterday.) When I left the shelter, I did not have time to go back to Rubidoux but I did go see the family that stays by Agate Park. By the time I was done there, it was lunchtime and I called it a day... Bottled waters, chicken jerky treats, Inaba Churus, wet dog food, DASHI meal toppers and buffalo tendons were shared.

Sunday On The Streets 5-04-2025

According to the weather app on my phone, the rain had stopped and was due back this evening. However, when I walked outside I found that it was still raining. At that point, I had made commitments and needed to stick to them. I did not go to one location, because the woman never texted me back and we moved the meeting for another family so we could meet somewhere we could stay relatively dry. We arranged to meet at the Budget Inn after I went to look for the gentleman with the dog that has double casts. I wasn't sure if he would still be there but I took a chance so I could share some good news. One of my very favorite rescues had contacted me and said she wanted to help. When I arrived at the location I met them at yesterday, the dogs were there but their companion was not. Not only were the two females there but their mama showed back up. I tried their companion again but the phone went straight to voicemail so I knew it wasn't charged. I stayed long enough to give them treats and bully slices and then headed across town. I met with a family that has three dogs and a woman who has one. I was able to visit and provide supplies, before making a trip back across town to see if the companion had showed back up. I knew he would not just abandon them but had no idea where he was and nobody else was there earlier. This time, he was there and so were a group of other people as well as another dog we have provided services for. I let the companion of the three dogs know that a rescue was willing to take the mama and the sister in addition to the dog with the double casts on her broken legs. The only catch was that we needed to be able to get them to Orange County to Katella Animal Clinic. With everyone having to move again, the companion was really busy packing and trying to get off the property. I told him I would put up a post asking for help to transport. I asked him to contact me when he got his phone charged and was settled. They were not going too far but I wasn't sure how I would find them. At this point, I was pretty wet and just wanted to get out of the rain so I called it a day. The rain stopped ten minutes after I got home but there was no way I was going back out. Late afternoon, the companion of the dogs called me and I explained about the rescue and the transport. I gave his number to the rescue and the person who will be transporting the dogs. I also shared my number so I can be contacted if there are any issues. Right now, I am hoping it all comes together. I wanted to be there for the pickup but I my dog has a vet appointment and won't be able to. I know the rescue will keep me updated... Bottled waters, medium dog collar, large dog collar, two large leashes, wet dog food, DASHI meal toppers16 pound bag of Pedigree dog food for big dogs, 4.5 pound bag of small bites senior dog food, 3.5 pound bag of small bites dog food, chicken jerky treats, kabob chew sticks, bully slices, bully stick, peanut butter knot chew and buffalo tendons were shared.

Saturday's Smiles 5-03-2025

When I turned on my phone, this morning there were two voicemails. One was from a woman who took in a very small puppy that had worms. She said it was left in a room at the Motel6 on University. She was concerned about her own two dogs getting worms and did not think she could cover the cost to treat it. She also texted so I texted back asking her to call between 1pm and 4pm to discuss further. The other voicemail was from the companion of the dog that was recently injured. He was recently told to move from the second place he went with the dogs he has and last night the police came to where he is now and said he had until the end of today. He said he did not know what to do and felt the dogs were too much for him. They were doing fine in the river bottom but things changed when they were first evicted from there. I understand why they were made to leave but that doesn't make the situation any easier. A dog that recently surgery, paid for by an anonymous donor, is at the Motel6 and I had planned to go there first but I went to see the gentleman and his dogs instead. It had already started to drizzle but thankfully there was no downpouring of rain. When I pulled up, there was a kitten sitting there with the dogs. He said it wandered on to the property a couple of days ago. I contacted a woman who still stays in the river bottom and has helped many cats. I asked her if she would take the kitten and she said yes. I fed the kitten and then left supplies for the woman who will be picking it up. I did not have a solution for the gentleman and his dogs but asked him to stay in touch. When I left that location, I went to the motel to check on the dog that just had surgery. We kept them in the room for two nights but they had to check out today. When I arrived, he was wagging his tail and looked one hundred percent better than he did when his companion sent me photos the night of his surgery, A biopsy was one on one of the tumors and we should know more within the next two weeks. The last thing I was supposed to do at the motel was meet someone to give them dog food but I could not reach anyone on the phone so I left. As I was driving, I received a text that the companion was on his way. There was a slight change of plans but we were still able to meet. We just changed our meeting place to the far end of the parking lot at Riverside County Department of Animal Services. One of his dog's appears to have a UTI so I gave him the number of Feeding Pets Of The Homeless. I told him their hours of operation and to call first thing Monday Morning. They usually need me to verify the homelessness of those who I refer, I am not planning on doing any 'daily travels' Monday, because I need to take my own dog to the vet but I should be accessible by phone regardless... Bottled waters, large bag of recyclables, jar of peanut butter, medium dog collar, wet kitten food, small bag of kitten food, DASHI meal toppers, small stainless steel pet dish, wet puppy food, wet dog food, 20 pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, Inaba Churu Bites, bully slices, bully sticks and buffalo tendons were shared.

Friday's Furry Friends 5-02-2025

I went to the Eastside, this morning. I wanted to check on a dog we neutered Wednesday but had to leave the motel before I could check him on Thursday. I wasn't sure who else I might see there but I had asked a couple to meet me there with their dog so I would not need to drive out to where they stay. I had someone coming to the house to service my air conditioning unit so I was on a bit of a time crunch. I was able to check on the dog that just got neutered and visited with three other dogs too. I had never met one of the prior to today. He was previously neutered, chipped and vaccinated so my time with him and his family was spent visiting and providing a few supplies. The couple coming from another location was having issues with their vehicle. They told me they were on their way twice but I waited for an hour and could not wait any longer. I felt bad, especially since I will be taking my own dog to the vet on Monday and won't be back in that area, but I had to get home to let the technician in. On my drive home, I managed tor each the companion of the dog that was injured and had been staying in the motel for over a week. The gentleman misplaced his phone so I had no idea how the dog was doing. He gave me a little update and I am hoping to see them tomorrow, as long as code enforcement has not moved them again. I also texted with the companion of a dog that just had a couple of tumors removed. Someone on our page had seen photos of him and offered to pay for a vet visit, surgery and a biopsy. We put them in a motel for a couple of nights. I will be going to see them tomorrow but I wanted to know how things were progressing... Bottled waters, handmade pet jacket, wet dog food, 20 pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, kabob chew sticks, bully slices and buffalo tendons were shared.

Thursday's Treasures 5-01-2025

I spent a good part of this morning at the Jurupa Valley Motel6. Two of the three dogs we spayed/neutered yesterday were there and I wanted to check on them as well as visit some other dogs that happen to be staying at the motel with their companions. I was only able to check on one of the two we provided 'the works' for, because the companion of the other dog had to take his children to school. It is possible, I may get to see him tomorrow. While I was at the motel, I also paid for a motel room for a dog named 'Solo'. When Feeding Pets Of The Homeless was unable to offer anymore help to him, one of our donors offered to cover the cost for him to have a couple of tumors removed and to have a biopsy done. We will be covering the cost for a couple of nights at the motel, while he begins to recuperate. I visited a total of seven dogs at the motel and provided supplies for them and a cat that is also at the motel. From there, I went to the nearest freeway onramp so I could go across town to our storage units where I picked up pet food and waters. I made one more stop at our (empty) PO Box and then went home to begin all of the work that starts when my daily travels are done... Bottled waters, 2 handmade pet jackets, chicken jerky treats, duck jerky treats, wet dog food, DASHI meal toppers, Inaba Churus, Inaba Churu Bites, 8-pound bag of senior dog food, 16-pound bag of Pedigree for big dogs, 20-pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, bully slices, peanut butter knot chews, beef sticks with chicken, kabob chew sticks, cat toys, squeaky ball and plush squeaky toys were shared.
