Tuesday's Treasures 4-29-2025

When I left home, this morning, I headed to Fairmount Park. There were a few people I was hoping to meet up with. Unfortunately, I did not find any of them. I did visit with a gentleman and a dog I had never met before and provided a few supplies. From there I drove over to the Salvation Army but nobody was there with pets so I continued on to Rubidoux. My first stop there was for a family with a small dog and a cat. The people were not around but the dog was in a fenced area. I gave him some treats and a chew stick and drove to another Rubidoux location. I wanted to find out if the companion of a dog there was able to reach Feeding Pets Of The Homeless for a growth on the dog's back paw. She told me they had an appointment set up to go to the vet. I told her to let me know if the dog needs surgery. If she does, I offered to put them in a room for a night or two. After our visit, I provided a few supplies and made a quick stop at home to pick up an envelope with a payment I needed to drop off. After I dropped off the payment, I stopped at our (empty) PO Box and then drove over to the Riverside County Department of Animal Services. 'Face' had an appointment to get checked out. I wasn't sure if they were removing the casts, changing them or doing something else but I wanted to be there. When I arrived, I did not see her companion so I called him. He was at the motel. He locked his keys in his truck and was waiting for someone to help him get it open. He said that would probably take an hour or more so I left and told him to notify me when he was at the shelter. In the mean time, I was driving by a store when I saw a homeless gentleman with his dog. I had not seen them in quite awhile so I pulled into the parking lot. We visited and I provided a few supplies. I went home, after that. I received a call at noon saying he still had not gotten his truck open so I told him I now had too many things to get done and would no longer be going back down there. I asked him to contact me, after her exam and let me know how she is doing. One of the saddest things for me today was when I received a call from a Riverside Police Officer. He was with a homeless woman and her two dogs. I had not seen her in quite some time but provided services for all of the dogs she has had. The Officer said she wanted to go into rehab for her alcohol use but did not want to lose her pets. They are very cute small dogs but I do not know of any fosters and cannot afford to board dogs. I told the Officer that the city/county programs really need to take people's pets into consideration and help with them too. Some won't go to rehab, because they don't want to lose their pets and I don't blame them. He did not either. I hope someday this is not an issue and that all of the housing/rehab programs deal with the importance of people's pets... Bottled waters, handmade pet jacket, large dog harness, chicken jerky treats, duck jerky treats, wet dog food, DASHI meal toppers, peanut butter knot chews, bully sticks, kabob chew stick, bully slices, buffalo tendons, collapsible pet dish with leash clip and plush squeaky toys were shared.

Monday On The Move 4-28-2025

I had some personal business to take care of today but I drove to the Path of Life Community Shelter first. While I was there, I visited with five dogs. Three of those dogs are in need of 'the works' and I was given permission to do that for two of them. If all goes as planned, we have three dogs scheduled for 'the works' at the Riverside County Department of Animal Services on Wednesday and four dogs scheduled to receive 'the works' at the Mary S. Robert's spay/neuter clinic. We had the potential for 35 pets to be spayed/neutered this month. If all of the pets show this week, we will have done 22. I never know if people will show or not, hence the lower numbers, but I hope to end the month with everyone making it to their appointments... Bottled waters, chicken jerky treats, duck jerky treats, 20-pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, bully sticks, bully slices and buffalo tendons were shared.

Sunday On The Streets 4-27-2025

Over the past week, many of the homeless have been forced to move from where they were staying. I understand why it is happening but have concerns being that the shelters have been full and I don't know where many of them are going to go. That was the case with the companion of a recently injured dog that we put in the motel. First thing this morning, I received a call from him saying that he had to go back to his 'spot' to pack up all of his belongings. He was going back to the motel with the dog but was not sure where they were going to be going after their stay is up. He has the dog's mama too and someone is taking care of her while he is caring for the injured dog and her sister. On Tuesday, they will go back to the Riverside County Department of Animal Services so they can evaluate how 'Face' is doing. I hope to meet them there and get more information myself. If need be, we can put them in a motel for a couple of extra nights but I can't be sure what will happen beyond that but I will try to help her companion figure something out…..As far as today was concerned, I made three stops. The first was at a river bottom outlet by the Fed-Ex facility off of Holly Street in Jurupa Valley where I arranged to meet a woman and her dog. We met and I provided supplies. Next stop was off of Fleetwood in Jurupa Valley. The dogs were off playing somewhere but I did visit with a kitty and his companion as well as provide supplies. My final stop was by the legion hall at Fairmount Park. I had made arrangements to meet a gentleman with his two dogs and a woman with her two dogs. While I was there with them, a couple came up with a puppy and a little dog. Both had on e-collars. I found out that they had been impounded so they were neutered before being released. I was never given permission to neuter one of the dog's so I was happy to see it was now done. I hung around there for awhile so I could visit with all of the dogs and then gave supplies to each of their companion's. It was a busier morning than I had expected but I prefer being busy to feeling nonproductive... Bottled waters, emergency blankets, tissues, 2 handmade pet jackets, small dog collar, medium dog collar, small Max and Neo dog collar, 2 small leashes, small stainless steel pet dish, large stainless steel pet dish, K-9 glucosamine chews, chicken jerky treats, duck jerky treats, 3.5 pound bag of Pedigree puppy food, wet puppy food, 3.5 pound bag of Pedigree small bites dog food for small dogs, 2-16 pound bags of Pedigree dog food, 20 pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, 17 pound bag pf cat food from the Star Milling Company, Wellness wet cat food, Inaba Churus, bully sticks, peanut butter knot chews, bully slices and buffalo tendons were shared.

Saturday's Smiles 4-26-2025

My plans this morning consisted of going to three different motels on the west side side. All of the motels are where people are being temporarily 'housed' by different programs and where I go once a month to bring pet supplies. My first stop was for two dogs at the Sands Motel. I thought my second stop was at the Riverside Inn and Suites but it turned out I was supposed to go to the Days Inn. I had already passed there so I contacted the companion on my way to the American Inn and I asked her to meet me at a different location, when I was done at the American Inn. I was happy to have avoided the rain, up until that point. While I was visiting pets it started to come down lightly so I hurried as best as I could. I was there to meet with two gentleman. Each has one dog. While doing so, another gentleman came out. He said he had two dogs and asked if I could help with food. He recently adopted a couple of Malinois pups from the shelter and lost his home to a fire soon after. I had enough food with me to give him some as well as a few other items. When we were done, I drove up the street and met with the last dog of the day and his companion. They 'timed out' of the shelter and were put in a motel while waiting for their housing to go through. I miss seeing them at the Path of Life Community Shelter, every week, but thankful that is seems they should be getting housing in the near future. By the time I left that location, the rain was coming down harder. I made a quick trip to the store, picked up more produce for my tortoise and headed home... Bottled waters, Benadryl caplets, tissues, Tiller Tugs leash, Tiller Tugs tug toys, chicken jerky treats, duck jerky treats, 8 pound bag of senior dog food, wet dog food, 2-20 pound bags of dog food from the Star Milling Company, 2-16 pound bags of Pedigree for large dogs, DASHI meal toppers, plush squeaky toy, 2 Kong balls ,6 inch marrow bone, bully sticks, peanut butter knot chews, bully slices and buffalo tendons were shared.

Friday's Furry Friends 4-25-2025

I made two stops on the Eastside, this morning. The first was by the Path of Life Community Shelter. One of the pets I visited is staying on the street with his companion. She has been trying to get a bed in one of the shelters for over a couple of weeks now but has not had any luck. The other dog was one I met for the first time. Her companion is staying in the shelter so the dog is in the kennels at night. The companion did not want to spay her and talked to me about breeding at some point. By the time I left, it seemed as if she was willing to spay but only time will tell. When I left there, I drove over to the Budget Inn. A dog I used to visit at one of the river bottom outlets was placed there with his companion. Her phone was not on but I knew her room number and knocked on the door. While we were in the parking lot, a gentleman walked by us with his dog. They both looked familiar so I asked him if we had met. I had never seen them on that side of town but they were who I thought they were. I provided a few supplies for both dogs and then headed across town to our storage units to pick up more pet food and water. On my way home from there, I stopped by our PO Box and picked up a donation of kitten food that I did not have time to get yesterday. The rest of the day was spent doing the usual office type things I have to do which includes all of our social media, phone calls, texts and appointment scheduling. I also made arrangements to meet some people at motels on the west side of town tomorrow and at another location Sunday... Bottled waters, Italian cookies, Benadryl caplets, chicken jerky treats, duck jerky treats, 8-pound bag of senior dog food, wet dog food, DASHI meal toppers, doggie waste bags with flashlight leash clip, plush squeaky toy, kabob chew stick, peanut butter know chew, bully slices and buffalo tendons were shared.

Thursday's Treasures 4-24-2025

I spent my time, this morning, at the Motel6 in Jurupa Valley. I checked on three dogs that received 'the works' yesterday as well as the injured dog 'Face'. The other two dogs went to stay at someone's home and the cats were staying with their companion at another motel. I also visited with two dogs that were staying in a couple of those rooms with their family members. When I left the motel, I went to get my nails done and then to pick up a donation of kitten food, from Terri Weber, that was waiting at our PO Box. However, there was no package pick up line today and the other line was far too long so I will try to get back there tomorrow... Bottled waters, Premier protein shakes, pet carrier, puppy training pads, chicken jerky treats, squeaky toy, plush squeaky toy, Tiller Tugs squeaky tug toy and buffalo tendons were shared.

#2,278, 79, 80, 81, 82, 83 and #2,284 Get 'The Works' 4-23-2025

This morning was a hectic one. Before I did anything else, I called the motel and paid for a few more nights for 'Face' and her companion, thanks to our generous supporters. We had seven pets scheduled for 'the works'. Three female dogs, two male dogs and two female kittens. Our first appointments were at the Riverside County Department of Animal Services spay/neuter clinic. Two female dogs and one male dog were being spayed/neutered there. One of the female dogs was the first to arrive. The other two dogs were coming with volunteers from Feeding Perris Strays. The dogs they were transporting are part of a family that started last week. None of these dogs are socialized so the volunteers are having trouble getting them loaded up and on time to their appointments. They were thirty minutes late, which meant I had to rush to get out of there, but I was able to get them their paperwork, give them supplies and as well as instructions for check in. After that, I drove home, fed my dog and then went back out to the Mary S. Robert's spay/neuter clinic. We were meeting at 9am. I had an appointment I had to get to by 10am so I was really hoping everyone showed up on time. I am pleased to say they did. I was there when one of the pet's was checked in. I had to leave when two others were being examined so I was not there for three of the check-ins. I was available by phone and the clinic texted me a few times to let me know about medical issues for a couple of the pets. I approved whatever needed done and did not hear back after that. "One by one we get them done, because the only way to combat pet overpopulation and euthanasia in our shelters is to spay and neuter." Bottled waters, ARCO fuel cards, plush squeaky toy, wet dog food, DASHI meal toppers, 17-pound bag of cat food from the Star Milling Company, 20-pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company and buffalo tendons were shared.

Tuesday's Treasures 4-22-2024

I received a text, a couple of days ago, from someone needing dog food. I made arrangements to meet him with his two dogs and someone else with her two dogs this morning by the legion hall at Fairmount Park. I made one stop, at the front of the park, to visit with a woman and her two dogs before driving to the area where the legion hall is. I waited fifteen minutes but nobody showed. I tried to call and text but the phone did not appear to be on. I then drove around the entire park and going back one more time to see if they showed up late. Nobody was there. I did not want the morning to be wasted so I contacted the gentleman with the injured dog we had staying in a room at the motel. I went to see them and I also had an opportunity to visit with the injured dog's sister. We provided both of them with 'the works', a few months back. The injured dog wagged her tail when I arrived. Her companion said she had been looking bored. She is not even a year old so I am sure she is wishing she could run around. The motel room was an expense I had not planned on but I could not imagine what it would be like for this family in a field. The companion works so I wasn't sure how long he could stay. He had a friend with him and told me she would help take care of the dogs while he was gone so I paid for a third night and told him I would pay for more nights if we received donations to cover that. He was grateful for whatever we did so far and whatever we might be able to do... Bottled waters, Premier protein shakes, puppy training pads, 3.5-pound bag of Pedigree small bites, chicken jerky treats and buffalo tendons were shared.

Monday On The Move 4-21-2025

I visited three pets this morning. My plan was to visit one that was being released from animal services and the rest of the dogs at her encampment but that did not happen. I did see her but the other pets I visited were pets I saw on my way to her... I altered my normal Monday travels, in order to meet up with someone who was going to pick up his dog from Riverside County Department of Animal Services. This dog, actually still a puppy, was impounded last week. I am not sure of the circumstances. The companion no longer has a phone so they could not reach him. Because this puppy was one Taking It To The Streets provided 'the works' for, I received a call from them. I contacted another homeless person who stays fairly close to him and asked if she would let him know. He was not around but she left a message with others and he eventually got in touch with me. When everyone got kicked out of the river bottom near the shelter, the dogs wound up having a tough time and a few of them seemed to be trying to get back to where they had been. I don't know what happened with this puppy but I do know she was injured. Both of her front legs required casts and her mouth area looked like some of the skin had come off. She was unable to walk with the casts so her companion brought a blanket filled wagon for her. He was given meds and told to come back in a week, unless the casts got wet and then he would need to return right away. I was there when they brought her ought to him and she was so happy to see him. She was literally crying for a couple of minutes. When he wheeled her out, I gave him supplies for her and his other dogs and called Motel6. I reserved a first floor room for two nights so they can be together indoors. It is not going to be easy for this pup or her companion. I won't be able to meet them at the motel but I did arrange for us to mee ton Thursday morning. I can't call to confirm but hoping it works out. Thanks Again Riverside County Department of Animal Services for the care you provided this sweet girl... Bottled waters, large fleece blanket, large dog collar, 3 large dog leashes, 14pound bag of Pedigree puppy food, 20 pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, chicken jerky treats, Dashi meal toppers, wet puppy food, wet dog food, bully stick, bully slices, buffalo tendons and peanut butter knot chews were shared.

Sunday On The Streets 4-20-2025

I made arrangements to meet someone while on my way to meet someone at a river bottom outlet by the Fed-Ex trucking facility off Holly in Jurupa Valley. He stays on the 'flats', off of Market Street. We agreed to meet on Via Cerro which I had to go up anyway to get to where I was headed. This gentleman has a bunch of cats that had all been spayed/neutered but new ones came into the area and he has been caring for them. Mainly a mama cat that gave birth about four weeks ago and a kitten that was dumped on the Market Street bridge. I brought him supplies and told him I would do my best to help get the cat transported to the clinic, once the babies were weaned, and to look for rescue for the kittens. I explained it would be nearly impossible for me to find rescue but I committed to spaying/neutering the kittens when they were old enough and reached weight. From there I went to the 'yellow gate' by Fed-Ex to meet someone with her two dogs and give them supplies. While I was there, someone else came up with a dog that needs to be spayed. He has no phone and no transportation so I am going to try and figure out how to help. My final stop required getting on the nearest freeway ramp and driving out near the Rick Thompson Arena and Agate Park. I wasn't visiting the pets there but did need to drop off a couple of things. One of the companion's donated a small crate, wound spray and a couple of pet life vests so I left with more than I came with... Bottled waters, Premier protein shakes, large bag of recyclables, large dog collar, large dog leash, Flys Off ointment, pet ear cleaner, 17 pound bag of cat food from the Star Milling Company, 20 pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, chicken jerky treats, duck jerky treats, wet dog food, DASHI meal toppers, wet kitten food, Wellness wet cat food, Royal Canin mama baby wet cat food, Inaba Churus, buffalo tendons and peanut butter knot chews were shared.

Saturday's Smiles 4-19-2025

A couple of weeks ago, we were supposed to spay and neuter a male and female dog that have been the cause of many litters. The companion did not show and I have been unable to reach her by phone. Her encampment is pretty far back in a wooded area with a few others. I had no idea exactly how to get there and would never go alone anyway. There is a family we provide services for and the parents said they would walk me back to the encampment. They said it was about a ten minute walk, or so, from the street. I parked in a nearby lot and we all walked back there. I definitely would not have found it without their help. I met with the woman who has the 'mama and papa' dogs and met a couple of their, not so little, puppies. One of those puppies I already knew. For quite some time, he was staying with the couple who walked me to the encampment. Once again, I offered to provide 'the works' to her dogs as well as those from prior litters. I don't know if any of the people there will take me up on it but I had to try. After visiting with all of the dogs, we walked back to where I parked and then I drove one of the people who walked me back there back to her RV. I visited with the three dogs that were there and one of the cats. I also provided supplies and then headed back home... Bottled waters, chicken jerky treats, duck jerky treats, duck jerky treats, 17-pound bag of cat food from the Star Milling Company, 20-pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, wet dog food, DASHI meal toppers, Inaba Churus, buffalo tendons and bully slices were shared.

Friday's Furry Friends 4-18-2025

It was chilly and drizzling, this morning, but I still drove to the Path of Life Community Shelter on the Eastside to see if anyone was out with their pets. A couple of my favorite dogs are no longer there, because their companion's time was up. One of them is now in a motel on the west side of town so I hope to still be able to visit him now and then. Two more dogs, that I regularly visited, were not there either. Their companion is not at the shelter but I was told she is trying to get back in. I did meet a young man with two 8 week old puppies. I told him I could not do anything to help until they are older. However, I did visit with five other dogs and provided supplies. When I was done there, I drove across town to our storage units. Last Friday, the spring on the door of one of our units broke. They put one of their locks on the unit and I signed a paper stating they could fix it without me being present. They finally fixed it yesterday. I went today so they could remove their lock and I could put mine back on. I am now able to access both of our units again. While I was there, I picked up a few supplies and then headed home... Bottled waters, small dog collar, medium dog collar, medium dog harness, small dog leash, 2 pet rain jackets, 2 handmade pet jackets, chicken jerky treats, duck jerky treats, 3.5 pound bag of Pedigree high protein dog food, 3.5 pound bag of Pedigree puppy food, 3.5 pound bag of Pedigree for small dogs, wet dog food, wet puppy food, DASHI meal toppers, kabob chew sticks, buffalo tendons, bully slices, peanut butter knot chews, a Kong ball and a plush squeaky toy were shared.

Thursday's Treasures 4-17-2025

The two dogs that we spayed yesterday went to someone's home to start recuperating so we did not have any pets at the motel last night. I still made a trip over there to visit four dogs that I knew spent the night there with their companions. I also wanted to give something to the woman who saved 'Hope'. She did not want or ask for anything but she certainly deserved something to show how much she was appreciated. I gave her some gift cards and covered her motel room for two nights. In addition to the four dogs I planned on visiting, I was surprised by seeing another dog I knew. His companion was there visiting a family member. There was another dog with them as well. Today's visit wound up being with six dogs and I provided a few supplies for them too. When I left the motel, I went to the store to pick up some produce for my tortoise, picked up a prescription that was sent to our PO Box and headed home where I spent quite a bit of time speaking to a number of people regarding impounded dogs, injured dogs, sick dogs and pets needing spayed/neutered... Bottled waters, ARCO fuel card, Subway gift card, Dominos gift card, collapsible pet dish, chicken jerky treats, duck jerky treats, 4.5 pound bag of senior dog food, 3.5 pound bag of Pedigree high protein dog food, wet dog food, DASHI meal toppers, kabob chew sticks, buffalo tendons, bully slices, peanut butter knot chews and a plush squeaky toy were shared.

#2,276 & #2,277 Get 'The Works' 4-16-2025

Because I was going to visit my son and granddaughter today, I only scheduled pets at one clinic. That meant we only had three appointments to be filled. One of those was for a puppy that is trying to keep kennel space at the Path of Life Community Shelter. The companion confirmed yesterday. When she was not on time this morning, I called and texted. I finally got a text back that said she tried to call last night but could not find my number. I found that odd being that she called me from that same phone yesterday morning but there was nothing I could do about it filling her appointment at that point so it was wasted. I have been working with some people at Feeding Perris Strays, in order to help the homeless people they come in contact with who have pets. We had two scheduled for last week and the companion of them had a car so he was supposed to bring them but his car broke down. This time, the group was able to get volunteers to drive a couple of his dogs to their appointments. Unfortunately, the dogs are not socialized and the volunteers had issues getting them loaded up in the truck. They were late but thankfully still on time for me to get their paperwork to them. I left before they checked in and told them, to call if there were any issues. Feeding Perris Strays has so much to deal with. Rovers Return Dog Rescue is helping them with the dogs that seem to get dumped and we will continue to offer assistance with the dogs that live with someone who is unhoused. "It Takes A Village" and I am thankful to be part of this one. "One by one we get them done, because the only way to combat pet overpopulation and euthanasia in our shelters is to spay and neuter." Bottled waters, ARCO fuel card, 17-pound bag of cat food from the Star Milling Company, 20-pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, wet dog food and DASHI meal toppers were shared.

Tuesday's Treasures 4-15-2025

I am only spaying/neutering three pets tomorrow. Two of those I am doing by referral from Feeding Perris Strays and the other belongs to someone on the Eastside. I was unable to reach the person on the Eastside so I did a little driving around to see if I could find her. While I was doing that, I made a stop at Fairmount Park, a stop at the Salvation Army and then my last stop which was out in Jurupa Valley. I never found the person I was looking for but as luck would have it, she called me right when I got back home. Right now, it looks as if we will be doing all three pets tomorrow. I certainly hope that is the way it works out because once everyone is checked in, I will be able to visit my granddaughter for a couple of hours... Bottled waters, large stainless steel pet dish, chicken jerky treats, wet dog food, Dashi meal toppers, 16 pound bag of Pedigree for large dogs, 8 pound bag of senior dog food, peanut butter knot chew, bully stick, buffalo tendons, bully slice and a plush squeaky toy were shared.

Monday On The Move 4-14-2025

Today was pretty much a waste of time and fuel. I drove out to the Path of Life Community Shelter, on the Eastside, but there was only one person out with her dog. I spent the next 90+ minutes driving around the Eastside, Rubidoux, Jurupa Valley and a location in Riverside. I did not see anyone else with pets. I had no success when I tried to text/call a few others. Their phones were either dead, voicemails full or numbers changed. I decided I couldn't do anything else so I went home. I walked in the door just in time to receive an earthquake alert. The quake hit while I was reading it. Thankfully, it was just a big jolt and that was the end of it here. I do have friends and family in San Diego so I immediately texted to check on them. Hoping tomorrow is more productive... Bottled waters, chicken jerky treats, bully slice and a plush squeaky toy were shared.

Sunday On The Streets 4-13-2025

It was a busy Sunday morning for me. I visited dogs I had made plans for and met others by chance. My first stop was going to be on the Eastside to visit two dogs and their companion. They are only available on week-ends and I try to get over there once a month. On my way, I made a stop at Fairmount Park to speak to someone about a dog I heard was impounded. While I was there visiting with her two dogs, a gentleman rode up on his bicycle. His dog was not with him. He camps close to the park so I asked him to go and get her which he did. I visited all three dogs and provided supplies, before heading over to the Eastside. I was able to visit with those two dogs and provide supplies for them as well. When I left that location, I was going to go back through Rubidoux to look for someone who asked for my help with something. As I was driving up University Avenue, I saw a woman with a dog. He was very ill a month or so ago and I thought she had to say good bye to home but there he was. I did u-turn so I could stop for them. I knew they were staying in a motel on the Eastside but I had not been over there because I did not know the dog was still with us. When I stopped for him, I was also able to visit with another dog that I usually meet on Mondays or Fridays. I gave the last of my waters, and other supplies, to this little group. When I left, I decided to drive through Rubidoux again on my way home. I did not see who I was looking for but did see another woman who knows her so I did another u-turn and went to speak to her. She not only had her own dog with her but she had another dog that I had not seen in a few years. I originally met the dog, and her other dog, when the sister and her were living in the river bottom. Her sister got an apartment with both of her dogs so we lost touch. The woman had cancer and recently passed. They are trying to figure out what to do with her two dogs. In the meantime, one is keeping the other sister's dog company on the streets. I was happy to see her and it seemed like the feeling was mutual. I went straight home from there... Bottled waters, large stainless steel pet dish, 3.5 pound bag of Pedigree, 8 pound bag of senior dog food, 20 pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, 14 pound bag of Pedigree puppy food, Dashi meal toppers, Inaba Churu Bites, chicken jerky treats, kabob chew sticks, buffalo tendons, bully sticks, bully slices and peanut butter knot chews were shared.

Saturday's Smiles 4-12-2025

My first stop today was for a family near Agate Park in Jurupa Valley. I visited with their three dogs and then headed to Fairmount Park to look for someone. I was going to make a stop in Rubidoux, on the way, but there was nowhere to park that was close to the person I wanted to talk to so I kept driving. There was an event going on at the park which made it impossible for me to get to one of the areas I had planned to go but I did manage run into someone I was looking for. She was not the person I went there to find but I had been trying to contact this individual. She had one of her dogs with her so I gave him a few things and gave her supplies for both pets. We are hoping to get her second dog spayed, in a couple of weeks. When I left the park, I drove back through Rubidoux but still could not park near the person I needed to speak to so I decided to call it a day. It was getting warm and close to lunch time anyway... Bottled waters, collapsible pet dish, large collar and leash set, wet puppy food, 14 pound bag of Pedigree puppy food, chicken jerky treats, buffalo tendons, bully slices and peanut butter knot chews were shares.

Friday's Furry Friends 4-11-2025

I started my day on the Eastside outside the Path of Life Community Shelter. I visited with a total of five pets and provided supplies to some of them. When I left that location, I drove across town to meet Seth Cox at our storage units. He was delivering our Monthly Recurring Donation of cat/dog food from the Star Milling Company. I arrived a few minutes before he did in order to grab a few things from one of the units. Unfortunately, the door was broken and I could not lift it. One of the employees came out and was able to get it open but had to use something to hold it up. I won't be able to use the unit until it is repaired. Hopefully, one day next week. In the mean time, we were able to unload the Star Milling donation in our second unit. I keep trying to downsize to one, due to the cost of the rent, but I always seem to need more space than one unit provides. I was especially thankful for that space today. Thanks Again to Seth for doing the pick up, delivery and most of the unloading... Bottled waters, wet dog food, Dashi meal toppers,20 pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, chicken jerky treats, duck jerky treats, buffalo tendons, bully stick and kabob chew stick were shared.

Thursday's Treasures 4-10-2025

I had a plumber coming at 8am and was not sure how long he would be here so I did not make any definite plans for today's travels. However, he replaced the part and was out of here in fifteen minutes so I began texting and calling some people. We did not have anyone with pets staying at the motel last night but I do know others that have rooms there. I made contact with a few of them and headed over to visit the pets and bring supplies. While I was there, I was introduced to a dog that one of the homeless couples was trying to find help for. The dog had been dumped a few weeks ago but nobody would take her. The poor girl had a terrible skin issue going on and looked like she had been used multiple times for breeding. I took photos and immediately contacted Lauren at Labradors and Friends. I don't need to ask for rescue help often but if I come across a lab that does, her rescue is my number one go to. I know it is a big ask for any rescue at, at this point in time, but I had to ask. I also offered to chip in $500.00 towards her care and that the dog would have a ride to their vet. About an hour later, I received a call saying they would take her! I am working out the details but the most important thing is that she is safe, will get the care she needs and will eventually be placed in a great home. Once the dog is at their vet, I will post info for donations to be sent for her... Bottled waters, wet dog food, Wellness wet cat food, Dashi meal toppers, Inaba meal toppers, chicken jerky treats, duck jerky treats, buffalo tendons, kabob chew sticks, peanut butter knot chews and an xs Kong ball were shared.

#2,275 Got 'The Works' 4-09-2025

Today was such a disappointing day with spaying and neutering…….Yesterday, I mentioned that I was unable to reach most of the people with spay/neuter appointments for today. Late last night, I received text messages confirming some of them. There were three dogs scheduled at the Riverside County Department of Animal Services clinic. One of the text messages confirmed two dogs that belong to a woman living in an area known as 'the swamp'. I was hoping the third might just show up. However, I arrived at 7:30am and sat there for thirty minutes. Nobody showed up. All three appointments, my time and fuel were wasted. I had planned on three or four pets at the Mary S. Robert's clinic but only got confirmation for two. I told the staff to use the two unused appointments for the center and I arrived at 9am to deal with the confirmed appointments. They were for one female dog and one female cat. The person with the cat actually texted at 8:15am to tell me they were on their way from Moreno Valley so I was sure she was coming. That turned out not to be the case. The person with the dog showed up at the same time I did. Mary S Robert's was using a grant to cover her spay. Normally that would help a lot but this dog was overweight so there were a bunch of extra fees and I was told those fees were going to be around $300.00 in addition to the vaccinations, microchip, flea&tick treatment and nail trim. Needless to say, her cost was much more than what we usually spend, especially with the grant. As far as the cat goes, that turned out to be a complete fail. At 9:10, the owner texted and said they were lost. They were actually off of Limonite near the shelter. That is about five minutes from the clinic I was waiting for her at. I texted and then called giving her step by step instructions. At 10am she still had not made it. She was I so close but could not seem to follow simple directions so her cat did not get spayed. When all was said and done only one pet received 'the works' today. We had seven openings and should have had at least six pets getting their surgeries but that did not happen. Next week, I am going to spend time with my son and granddaughter so I am only using the three appointments at the Riverside County Department of Animal Service spay/neuter clinic. I hope we can make up for some of these no-shows the last two Wednesdays of the month. Wasting my time is annoying but wasting appointments is really frustrating. "One by one we get them done, because the only way to combat pet overpopulation and euthanasia in our shelters is to spay and neuter." Bottled waters, ARCO fuel card and 16 pound bag of pedigree for big dogs was shared.

Tuesday's Treasures 4-08-2025

I made appointments for six pets to receive 'the works' this week and was waiting on information for a seventh. I was also waiting for an address to use for one of the appointments. I tried calling and texting every person who was scheduled. Their phones were either off or nobody answered calls or texts. This basically left me wondering if anyone was going to show up tomorrow and it was really stressing me out. I decided to drive around and try to find some of the local people. I spent the first part of the morning doing that with no luck so I spent the second part of the morning visiting other pets. I continued calling and texting until it was time for me to actually email the appointments to one clinic and put the other appointments in the clinic's portal. At this point in time, I have no clue what tomorrow will bring but I know I did everything possible to make things go as planned... Bottled waters, handmade pet jacket, chicken jerky treats, duck jerky treats, Dashi meal toppers, Wellness wet cat food, wet dog food, 17 pound bag of cat food from the Star Milling Company, Inaba Churus, Inaba Juicy Bites, buffalo tendons, bully stick, peanut butter knot chews and an XL Kong ball were shared.

Monday On The Move 4-07-2025

When I arrived on the Eastside at the Path of Life Community Shelter, I saw a woman walking down the street with a dog I thought I recognized. After I got out of my vehicle and began walking in her direction, I found out it was someone with a dog we had provided services for in the past. His companion is trying to get back into the shelter and she needed a few supplies. We visited and I provided the items she needed while visiting with another dog at the same time. That dog is actually a puppy we recently provided 'the works' for. I also spent time with one more dog at that location, before heading over to University and Park where I was meeting 'Solo' and his companion. My own dog had a bit of an upset stomach this morning so I decided to drive back home to check on him. While I was there, I scheduled some spay/neuter appointments and called a plumber to do a repair at my home this week. My dog needed to go a couple of times and then I went back out for a bit. I only drove around for about twenty minutes or so. When I did not see anyone with pets, I stopped at our (empty) PO Box and then went back home... Bottled waters, handmade pet jacket, collapsible pet dish, medium stainless steel pet dish, small dog collar, Dashi meal toppers, Inaba meal toppers, wet dog food, 8 pound bag of Senior dog food, 3.5 pound bag of dog food for small dogs, chicken jerky treats, kabob chew sticks, peanut butter knot chews, buffalo tendons, squeaky dog and plush squeaky dog toy were shared.

Sunday On The Streets 4-06-2025

Yesterday, I took the day off to spend time with family. I had tentative plans for today that were contingent upon people texting me at 8am.When I had not heard from anyone by 9am, I contacted a group that I meet at a river bottom outlet near a Fed-Ex facility on Holly Street. that I was planning to meet up with them on Tuesday but changed it to this morning instead. Only two people actually showed up. One person with her two dogs and another with her dog. I provided them with needed supplies and then drove out to our storage units. I have been running low on the larger bags of dog food and ordered a couple online but I wanted to pick up the four that were left from our March Star Milling Donation. I drove to my house in order to unload the waters and some of the pet food I picked up and then load other supplies. I thought about driving around Jurupa Valley for a bit but I did not sleep much last night so I chose to stay home and give my own dog a little extra attention... Bottled waters, handmade pet jacket, chicken jerky treats, Dashi meal toppers, Inaba meal toppers, wet dog food, 20 pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, 16 pound bag of Pedigree for large dogs, 2 large collars, 3 large leashes, peanut butter knot chews and buffalo tendons were shared.

Friday's Furry Friends 4-04-2025

I made arrangements to meet people with pets, on the Eastside, outside the kennels at the Path of Life Community Shelter as well as off of University and Victoria. On my way to the Path of Life Community Shelter, I saw a woman at a bus stop. She was sitting on a walker. She had a 'granny cart' that was filled up with her belongings. On the top was a dog bed with two small dogs. I did not have time to stop but decided I would go back and look, on my way to University and Victoria, when I was done at the kennels. I visited with five pets and provided their companions with supplies. When I was done, I went back to look for the woman at the bus stop. She was still there. Turns out I know her but had not seen her in many years. She said she was housed for awhile. She needed a little more change to get on the bus. At first I said I did not have any but when I went through my vehicle I found seventy five cents and gave it to her along with a few supplies for her dogs. She was trying get back to the west side of town where she stays. She no longer had my contact information so I gave it to her and then went to look for the gentleman by University and Victoria. One of his dogs is so tiny that he has had trouble fitting her with a jacket. I had one of the homemade jackets that was her size. It was camo and not the color we had hoped for but were thankful it fit. He has another dog too. She is small too. Not quite as small so I had a jacket that fit her as well. I also provided them with supplies. I drove through Rubidoux, and some of Jurupa Valley, on my way to our PO Box. I did not see anyone else with pets so I headed home... Bottled waters, change for the bus, pet eye wipes, 2 handmade pet jackets, doggie waste bags, chicken jerky treats, duck jerky treats, Dashi meal toppers, Inaba meal toppers, wet dog food, wet puppy food, 3.5 pound bag of dog food for small dogs, 3.5 pound bag of high protein dog food, 2-20 pound bags of dog food from the Star Milling Company, kabob chew sticks, peanut butter knot chews bully stick, squeaky dog toy, plush squeaky dog toys and a large Kong ball were shared.

Thursday's Treasures 4-03-2025

Today's travels included a trip to the Jurupa Valley Motel6 and then a stop in the parking lot of the Riverside County Department of Animal Services. While at the motel, I visited with five pets. I checked on one of the dog's and cat's that received 'the works' yesterday and visited with a senior dog that shared one of those rooms. I also visited a room I reserved for the woman who alerted me to the dog that was dumped at Fairmount Park, last week. I had animal control pick him up and he was adopted the day he came off stray hold. As a thank you to the woman who let me know the dog was dumped, she was able to sleep in a bed with her two dogs last night instead of her car. Three other pets were spayed and neutered but one of the people did not have an ID for the motel and other said he could not get a ride there. When I left the motel, I went to meet someone in the parking lot of the Riverside County Department of Animal Services. She stays in the river bottom and that parking lot is a convenient place for us to meet. She has taken in a few strays down there and we have spayed and neutered them. Her brother has a dog that spends a lot of time with her too. She brought the dog up for a visit. She left with pet food and toys for the cats and the dog... Bottled waters, handmade pet jacket, puppy training pads, chicken jerky treats, duck jerky treats, Wellness wet cat food, Dashi meal toppers, wet dog food, 16-pound bag of Pedigree dog food, 17-pound bag of cat food from the Star Milling Company, kabob chew stick, buffalo tendons, bully stick, plush squeaky dog toy, laser toy and cat toys were shared.

#2,270, 71, 72, 73 & #2,274 Get 'The Works' 4-02-2025

We had seven pets scheduled for 'the works' today and we got off to a great start. There were two male dogs and a female cat scheduled at the Riverside County Department of Animal Services spay/neuter clinic. Everyone arrived on time and we were out of there by 8:15am. I then made a brief stop at home, before leaving for the Mary S. Robert's spay/neuter clinic. We had two male dogs and two female cats scheduled at that facility. The two dogs are part of a group I am working on out in Perris. I was alerted to the companion of these dogs through Feeding Perris Strays. They encounter many pets of the homeless that need spay/neuter services and I am working on providing that to as many as possible. Last week, a gentleman they referred to us with two dogs called to say he was in traffic and then never showed. I was hoping we would not have issues with this new person. Unfortunately, he was a no-show and two appointments for large dogs were wasted. Thankfully, the person with the cats arrived and was on time. I was really hoping to provide 'the works' for seven pets today but had to settle for five. "One by one we get them done, because the only way to combat pet overpopulation and euthanasia in our shelters is to spay and neuter." Bottled waters, ARCO fuel cards, medium stainless steel pet dish, handmade pet jacket, small harness and leash set, s/m Max and Neo dog collar, large leash, Dashi meal toppers, 17 pound bag of cat food from the Star Milling Company, 3.5 pound bag of puppy food, wet puppy food, Inaba Churus, Inaba chicken fillet and plush squeaky dog toys were shared.

Tuesday's Treasures 4-01-2025

I made arrangements to meet Cindy and Seth Cox at our storage units, this morning, in order to receive and unload a pallet of donated bottles of water. I only made one stop prior to driving out there and that was at Agate Park. I met a family with four dogs and one of their two cats. Everything was going great and then just as I was getting ready to leave I took a tumble. There are large concrete steps there and I tripped walking up. I landed pretty hard on my left knee/leg and both hands. I was more embarrassed than anything else but it did hurt just the same. Surprisingly, my hands felt fine. I drove across town to our storage and loaded pet food, pet jackets, meal toppers and some waters we still had from the last donated pallet. When Cindy and Seth arrived, I helped unload and then went home to unload whatever supplies I would not be needing for tomorrow. At this point, my leg is not feeling great so I started icing. Hoping the worst is here and that it starts getting better. If not, I will call to see about getting an x-ray but I am hoping it doesn't come to that. I have seven pets scheduled for 'the works'. I will be at both facilities whether my knee/leg hurts or not. It would be great to start a new month with everyone showing up for their appointments! Time will tell... Bottled waters, sleeping bags, Dashi meal toppers, 17 pound bag of cat food from the Star Milling Company, Inaba Churus, chicken jerky treats, wet dog food and buffalo tendons were shared.
