We have been slowly cutting back the number of spay/neuter surgeries we fund each month and we also reached a milestone of #2,000...In August, we did a total of 19. There were 8 dogs and 11 cats. Four of the dogs were males and four were females. Three of the cats were males and eight were females... Last night, we had five rooms reserved at the Motel6. Two of those were being paid for by our 'Summer On The Streets 2023' online fundraiser. I visited the three pets that received 'the works' as well as six others and distributed supplies for each of them. I also did some video recording to have as proof for what the rooms looked like. I am not sure if I will have time to go back tomorrow morning before check out but I am going to try. It is too stressful waiting for bad news to be emailed each week about what 'our people' are doing to the rooms. I would like things to get back to how they once were. Not sure if it is possible but if it is I am sure it will take some time for me to figure things out... Waters, canned ravioli, cracker packs, chicken jerky treats, 20 pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, Inaba Twins dog, wet dog, Inaba Twins cat, small bag of cat food, wet kitten food, Inaba Churu Pops, Nubz Chews, collapsible pet dish and bully sticks were shared.
Today was one of those rare days when all of our appointments went as planned. We had one female dog and one male dog scheduled for 'the works' at the Riverside County Department of Animal Services spay/neuter clinic. Both showed up on time and we had them checked in before 8:30am.When I left that location, I went home for about half an hour and then headed to the Mary S. Robert's spay/neuter clinic. We had one male dog and one female cat scheduled there. Not only were both of their companions on time but they actually showed up early. As soon as their paperwork was signed and turned in, I left to pick up a couple of items at the grocery store and went back home. An hour later, I met someone for a lunch meeting. While there, I received a text telling me that the dog 'Pecas' was already spayed. We had checked her for a chip but did not notice any scar or tattoo which would have indicated a spay. I was disappointed but there was nothing I coud do at that point. After lunch, I spent the rest of the day doing whatever work needed done at home. That always includes editing photos and updating social media, answering calls, answering texts, answering emails and starting to schedule next week's spays and neuters. "One by one we get them done, because the only way to combat pet overpopulation and euthanasia in our shelters is to spay and neuter"... Waters, ARCO fuel cards. Max and Neo Collar, 2 large leashes and an inflatable e-collar were shared.
At 7:30am, I stopped to get fuel. When I was walking in to pay, I noticed a dog tethered to a pole. He seemed very happy and was wagging his tail. Although you should never leave a dog tethered alone, I thought his companion might be inside and I asked around. The dog did not belong to anyone so when I went back out, I asked a gentleman sitting in his car if the dog was his. He had a dog but she was in his car. He said he tethered the dog to see if someone might come for him. The dog was not chipped and the man living in his car could not hold on to him so I called Sgt. Sanders at Animal Control. A couple minutes later, an AC Officer was walking towards us. I was thinking that sure was fast. He was there for coffee but took the dog in for us. The dog seemed like a great pet so I will keep my eye on his impound photo and if nobody comes for him, I will do my best to have him pulled by a rescue that can get him a good home... Before I left the parking lot, I gave the finder of the dog a few supplies for his dog and offered him a one night motel stay tomorrow night as a thank you for his help. When I finally left that location, I went home to put cold waters in my vehicle and headed out to meet a group of people at a river bottom outlet in an industrial area of Jurupa Valley. I waited for fifteen or twenty minutes but nobody showed and everyone's phones were shut off so I drove to Fairmount Park. I saw a van that usually has three dogs in it so I stopped. Before I even got out of my vehicle, their companion told me that one of them passed away yesterday. I was willing to cremate her but the dog had been buried. While I was with them, I got a call from one of the people I was supposed to meet at 9am. It was now 9:40 but I was not far away so I drove back to the meeting spot. When I arrived, another person was there with her dog too. I checked the dog I am supposed to spay tomorrow to be sure she is not chipped, I distributed supplies and visited. When we were done, I drove out to our PO Box and then went home to get ready for a Doctor's appointment... Waters, collapsible pet bowls, 20 pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, 2 small bags of dog food, Inaba Twins for dogs, Inaba Churu Bites, Inaba Churus, Natural Nubz Edible Dog Chews, bully sticks and chicken jerky treats were shared.
On my way to the Eastside this morning, I took a shortcut on Crestmore Avenue. While driving, I saw smoke coming from the river bottom area. I thought all of the people were cleared out from there but not knowing the situation I put a call in to Riverside Police and Fire. Better safe than sorry where fires are concerned. When I arrived at the Path of Life Community Shelter, there was just one pet and her companion waiting for me. While I was visiting with them, someone else showed up with her two dogs too. After our visit, I drove to Victoria and University to look for 'Solo' and his companion. I was told they would be there and they were. From there I drove through Fairmount Park and Rubidoux but did not see anyone with pets. On my way to our PO Box, I tried contacting someone who stays near the animal shelter with his dog. His phone had been off but he answered today and I went to meet them. After the visit and distribution of supplies I headed home. It was already warming up and I decided the post office could wait until tomorrow... Waters, body wipes, collapsible pet bowls, 2-20 pound bags of dog food from the Star Milling Company, Inaba Twins for cats, wet cat food, Inaba Twins for dogs, Inaba Churu Bites, Inaba Fun Bites, Inaba Churus, Inaba Mega Churus, Natural Nubz Edible Dog Chews, bully sticks, kabob chew sticks, Kong squeaky ball, large bone and chicken jerky treats were shared.
My day began at Riverside Self Storage. Linda Noel was meeting me there to deliver dog chews donated by the Corona Animal Shelter. She also brought a few things from Second Chance Rescue. When I left our storage units, I went home to unload some of the supplies and pet food I picked up as well as load other supplies for today. I was supposed to meet a group of people at one of the river bottom outlets in an industrial area of Jurupa Valley, but they changed our plans last minute so that did not happen. I was also supposed to meet someone at Fairmount Park, in order to check his dog for a microchip. Someone gave her to the person she is with, some time ago, but I always double check for a chip before I agree to have a pet spayed or neutered. I actually try to check every new pet I see, regardless of whether or not they re accepting our services. Because I did not hear from this gentleman at the time he was supposed to call, I drove out to Agate Park in Jurupa Valley and met with a family there. I did not go last Sunday, because of the storm and I wasn't sure if they needed anything. They have three cats and two dogs that I gave them supplies for, while visiting with both dogs and one of the cats. When I left that location, I stopped to get fuel and took the freeway to Fairmount Park. Even though I did not get a call, I thought it was worth taking a look. I did not find the person I was hoping to meet but I did run into someone else and his three dogs and stopped for them. The vehicle they live in was on the other side of the park. The little senior dog was hooked into my pet car seat and I drove over to where his vehicle was, while they walked the rest of the way. I visited with the dogs, distributed supplies and headed home... Waters, pet brush, small bag of kitten food, wet kitten food, 17 pound bag of cat food from the Star Milling Company, Inaba stew for cats, Inaba Twins for dogs, 20 pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, Inaba Churu Pops, Inaba Churu Bites, Inaba Fun Bites, Natural Nubz Edible Dog Chews, bully sticks and chicken jerky treats were shared.
For the past few years, every Thursday I have been visiting the rooms of pets recuperating at the motel and I have been going to the Path of Life Community Shelter on the Eastside every Friday. It looks like I am going to have to make some changes. This morning, I received an email from the motel stating that no towels were dirtied but there was dog poop and pee on the floor of one of the rooms. There was none of that on Thursday, when I visited. I texted the person who stayed there and he responded. He said there was no poop in the room but the dogs did have accidents and he cleaned it up as best he could. He said housekeeping mentioned the smell of urine when they came in and he told them he tried to take care of it. All the years we have been there, housekeeping has always said not to worry and that they could mop it up. As a matter of fact, we were told to use the towels. None of that is ok now so I think I am going to have to change my long standing schedule and go every Friday before check out. I will take photos and videos so I can be sure of what the problems are. I do not want anyone being rude to motel staff or trashing rooms but I also want to be sure the people are not being wrongly accused, especially since my non-profit will have to foot the bill for whatever is said to be wrong. I want to keep going there so I need to figure a way to make it all run smoothly again. This should not cause the stress it is causing, I am willing to do my part but I need to really understand what is broken, if I am going to try and fix it. As far as today was concerned, I only visited with four dogs but it was not for lacking of trying to do more. I drove through Fairmount Park but there was an event going on. From there I went to Colton where I was able to catch up with pets. I headed back towards Rubidoux after that but the field where there were people camped was cleared out as was those camped on Mission Blvd. I decided to go back to Jurupa and Van Buren and try once again to catch up to the person who caused us to pay for motel room damages and to see about visiting other pets that are often in that area. I made a quick stop at the store first, to pick up something I forgot yesterday. Unfortunately, nobody was around where I went looking so I decided to call it a day... Waters from Niagara Bottling, small bag of puppy food, wet puppy food, bully sticks and chicken jerky treats were shared.
At 7am, I went to the store to pick up produce for my tortoise. When I was getting ready to walk in, I noticed a familiar face standing next to a bicycle. There was a cart on the back carrying two dogs. I told their companion I would stop for them on my way out and I did. We had a short visit, I gave them a few supplies and headed home. On my second trip out, I went to the Eastside and parked in the lot of the Path of Life Community Shelter. I visited with six pets, distributed supplies and then went back home to give my dog a potty break before leaving for the dentist. I had no plans for doing anymore daily travels after that. I went back home and while the novocain was wearing off I worked on social media, answering emails, texts and calls as well as began scheduling spay/neuter appointments for the last Wednesday of the month... Waters from Niagara, small leash, small pet bed, small bag of puppy food, small bag of dog food, wet dog food, Inaba Twins for dogs, Inaba Churus, Inaba Chur Bites, Inaba Juicy Bites, bully sticks, kabob chew sticks and chicken jerky treats were shared.
I went to the Motel6 this morning to check on the pets that received 'the works' yesterday and to visit a room we rented with funds from our 'Summer On The Streets 2023' online fundraiser. I visited with a total of six pets and distributed a few needed supplies. I am having a problem with my printer so when I left the motel I checked my PO Box and then went home to try and find a solution to the issue. Unfortunately, nothing worked. Even though the ink cartridges were brand new, I am going to buy a couple more and if the problem still persists then I will have to purchase a new printer. I wasn't having any problems, until I put in new ink cartridges. I am hoping they were somehow the reason why. I no longer have the receipts for the ink and the two XL cartridges cost nearly $100.00 which I will be unable to get back if that is what is causing the issue. The scanner was not working properly with the laptop I got a few months back but I managed to fix that so I hope I can do the same here... Waters from Niagara, large dog collar, Inaba Twins for dogs, wet dog food, 20 pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, Inaba Churu Bites, large bone, bully stick, kabob chew sticks and chicken jerky treats were shared.
I scheduled four pets today, hoping to reach our 2,000 milestone. There were two female dogs going to the Riverside County Department of Animal Services spay/neuter clinic and two female cats going to the Mary S. Robert's spay/neuter clinic. We only needed three pets but I was putting in one extra just incase. That turned out to be a good idea, because even though I confirmed one of the pets last night, her people were a no-show this morning. The person who was unable to secure a ride last week was moved to this morning and he showed up early. The other dog scheduled was a puppy but her people did not show up or call. I tried texting and calling but the phone went straight to voicemail. We have a waiting list with about a dozen pets on it but it was too late to get one of them in so the appointment was wasted. On my way home from the first location, I received a call from the companion of the female kittens that are being done at the second clinic. He was forty five minutes early and I prefer earlier than later. I told him I would be there at our agreed time and that is what I did. Looks like we reached our milestone. Now on to the next one! Afterwards, I did go looking for the gentleman who caused us to pay room damages last week but I had no luck. I will keep looking. Nothing will change but he needs to know what a crappy thing he did. "One by one we get them done, because the only way to combat pet overpopulation and euthanasia in our shelters is to spay and neuter"... Waters from Niagara, ARCO fuel cards, canned ravioli, cracker packs, cereal bars, beef sticks, Inaba Churu Pops, small bag of kitten food, wet kitten food, Inaba Twins for cats, wet cat food, 17 pound bag of cat food from the Star Milling Company, Inaba Twins for dogs, Inaba Fun Bites, Inaba Churu Rolls, small bag of dog food and wet dog food were shared.
Yesterday, I was contacted by someone who needed dog food. He said a couple other people did too and we scheduled a meet for this morning. On my way there, I went looking for someone whose dog received 'the works' last week. Not only did they stay in the motel for two nights but she also stayed a third night, thanks to a donation someone made for that purpose. We had a problem arise from that which I will explain at the end of this post. I never did find them so I went to the meeting at a river bottom outlet, met someone else with her dogs at the corner of Grand and Jurupa, drove around the old Pine Center and then finally found one person with a dog at Fairmount Park... Getting back to the motel issue... When I visited Thursday morning, I explained how the room needed to be left clean, due to the fact that the motel has been complaining to us weekly about the conditions the rooms have been left. He assured me the room would be clean. Saturday, I received photos of towels and linens drenched in dog urine, dog food all over the floor as well as piles of dog poop in the room. The motel told me we are liable for the damages. I am not sure what they do when other people without the funds leave a room in poor condition but we are now liable for all damages. This time they only charged us $100.00 of the $237.00 total but they said we would be responsible for all of it from now on. I always go the next day and the rooms are never bad. I am nit sure what they do between then and check out but I am not there when they check out and will now have to pay for anything the motel deems the fault of the person we put in there. This makes me so sad as I have a feeling we may have to stop offering rooms for pets to begin recuperating. It is already costing us approximately $400.00 per dog, between the motel and the spay/neuter services. There is no way we can pay another couple hundred dollars too. W have never gotten the amount of complaints from the motel as we have lately. I am not sure what is going on but I hope this issue stops. I think it is so important for the pets to have somewhere to go after surgery but not if it is going to drain our funds this way. We are having a hard enough time as it is. I feel like things have become so much more difficult for us these past few months but I will continue trying to make it all work out as best I can... Waters from Niagara, Inaba Churu Bites, Inaba Fun Bites, Inaba Mega Churus, Inaba Churu Rolls, 20 pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, small bag of dog food, small bag of puppy food, wet dog food, Inaba Twins for dogs, Kong squeaky balls, kabob chew sticks, bully sticks and chicken jerky treats were shared.
I wasn't sure what I was going to find after yesterday's storm but it stopped raining so I went to check it out. Before I drove to the Eastside, I stopped to talk to a young man on Limonite to ask if he needed dog food. He did not so I continued over to the Path of Life parking lot on Massachusetts. I wanted to speak to the companion of 'Kristen'. She had called me and I was unable to make contact when I tried to call back but I did not find her. Nobody was outside the homeless shelter so I drove to Hunter Park. I did not see anyone there with pets so I called someone with pets in the Colton, Bloomington area. I did not make it over there this week end so I went this morning. After leaving that location, I drove to Fairmount Park. As usual after a rain storm, it was flooded and there were branches everywhere so it was closed. I was just going to go home, because I had an 11 am zoom appointment but while driving up Mission Blvd., I noticed a puppy named 'Leo' and there was a Chihuahua puppy sitting by him. He was tethered. She was not. I pulled over and stopped. I offered to spay and neuter both pets, if their companion can get a ride. I hope that happens soon. While visiting, a couple walked up with two dogs. One large and one medium sized. Neither was on a leash but they were fine with the dogs I was with. However, when I walked up the block to bring treats to another dog the larger dog ran up to him. A fight broke out immediately. Thankfully, I was able to jump out of the way. The dog that was tethered suffered the least of the injuries. The other dog had a bloody mouth and I a, not sure what else. Both males are unaltered and having one tethered and one loose just made it worse. I left soon after that. I always get a little freaked out when I dog fight breaks out, especially when they are large dogs....Please check out our most recent fundraiser too. One of our long time supporters has a birthday coming up. He said he would match donations made up to $2300.00. This means, we could raise $4600. With 1/3 of our grant opportunities closing down and people struggling to make ends meet, our funds have been depleted. One of the grants we lost was for $5,000. If we are successful here, we can help make up for that loss. Please Donate/Share and even if you are unable to donate, sharing is still a way to help. Thank You!... Waters from Niagara, body wipes, FlyX fly repellant, Inaba Churu Bites, Inaba Fun Bites, Inaba Mega Churus, Inaba Churus, Inaba Twins for dogs, 20 pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, bully sticks and chicken jerky treats were shared.
Before I left the house this morning, I did a few things in my yard in preparation for the tropical storm heading our way. I am definitely a bit stressed out about the unknown here but I also had the homeless and their pets on my mind. The sun was shining so I decided to do my daily travels and then head over to storage to pick up pet food, waters and Inaba treats. Before I even made it to my first stop, I received a text that a sweet little senior named 'Kristen' was involved in a hit and run accident. We normally cover the cremation expenses in situations like these so the companions have 'keepsakes'. I called the vet and gave permission for them to charge me for that service. Around the same time, I received a call from someone needing dog food. He called the other day but I could not go back out. I made him a priority today and my first stop. We met in the parking lot of the Riverside County Department of Animal Services. The dog is a big one but I gave him a small bag to hold him over until the storm passes. I knew it would be too much with a twenty pound bag. My next stop was a river bottom outlet off of Grand and Rubidoux. I met with three people there. Two of them with two dogs and the other with one. While I was there code enforcement, City Net and the Riverside Police working with the homeless arrived. They were there to talk about housing and to remind people about moving to stay safe during the storm. They were all helpful to the people I was with and they were going to go into the river bottom to speak to others as well. I was there for quite some time before driving out to our storage units and then back home. I wanted to get everything unloaded and do a few more outdoor preparations. If the weather predictions are correct, I am sure I will not be doing any daily travels tomorrow and possibly Monday. I will just have to take this day by day and hope I can get pets in to be spayed/neutered on Wednesday, because we might be able to reach 2,000... Waters from Niagara, body wipes, large stainless steel pet dish, small bag of dog food, 20 pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, Beef Sticks for dogs, Inaba Churu Rolls, Inaba Churu Bites, Inaba Fun Bites, Inaba Mega Churus, Inaba Churus, wet dog food, kabob chew sticks, bully sticks, chicken jerky treats and a Tiller Tug squeaky tug toy were shared.
This morning, I went to the Eastside and parked in the lot at the Path of Life Community Shelter. I was not sure who I was going to meet up with but there was one person in particular I needed to see regarding a call I received a few days ago about a dog that was impounded at the Rancho Cucamonga Animal Shelter. The dog we provided 'the works' for a year ago at Mary S. Robert's so my phone number was listed as an emergency contact. Her name is 'Kira'. Her companion was living on the streets but is in Mercy House now. She has been missing for a few months and her companion was eager to get her back. I gave the shelter some of his info but I did not have a current phone number. I contacted another client at Mercy House who gave him the message for me and then I was able to give him the shelter's information. He had the dog's license tag but lost all of her paperwork. I was able to find copies in my records and brought them to him today. Hopefully, he is able to get her back soon. While I was there, I visited with five dogs, two cats and distributed supplies. I had an appointment at 11am, so I went home to give my dog a potty break and then headed to the appointment... Waters from Niagara Bottling Company, Doggie waste bags with flashlight leash clip, Inaba Churu Rolls, Inaba Churu Bites, Inaba Fun Bites, wet kitten food, kabob chew sticks, bully sticks and chicken jerky treats were shared.
I have been 'Taking It To The Streets' for about 11 and 1/2 years. I have had many frustrating experiences but they never outweigh the good that comes from providing services to pets. Today, I experienced a new frustration that made me sad and angry. Because it is so hot, we are giving a one night stay to those with cats being spayed or neutered. We stopped putting people with cats in rooms when we became low on funds but have been using money from our 'Summer On The Streets 2023' fundraiser for the past couple of months. I went to the motel to check on the two pets that got 'the works; yesterday, I actually visited two dogs in one of the rooms there and then went to where 'Bella' and her companion were. When we were done, I gave them supplies and went to check on the cat. I knocked don the door and a woman said I had the wrong room. I told her I did not as I paid for it early yesterday afternoon. She said nobody was in there with a cat so I went to the office. I definitely had the right room. While I was walking to the office, the couple in the room went running out, got in their vehicle and drove off. I saw all of it on the motel's video camera. I am beyond upset right now. The person with the cat had sent someone else to the clinic with her yesterday. She was very late and was also late picking up. I will not have to pay a $25.00 fee, each time my clients are late picking up their pets, because they certainly can't pay it. I have no idea where the cat is now or where her companion is. It is possible he was the one driving away in the car but said it wasn't him because the cat was not with him. He also might have 'sold' the room to someone else. I may never know but I do know that I did not get to check the cat and wasted money on a room that was meant for a pet to begin recuperating. This was not how I wanted to start my day. I guess I should be glad this was a first time thing but with money being so tight, I just find it upsetting. In the end, I am grateful that two more pets received 'the works' this week and will try to focus on that... Waters from Niagara Bottling Company, cracker packs, canned ravioli, cereal bars, beef sticks, large dog bed, bully stick and chicken jerky treats were shared.
We had two female dogs scheduled for 'the works' at the Riverside County Department of Animal Services spay/neuter clinic. I always people to meet me at 7:45am so if they are a few minutes late it doesn't prevent them from getting surgery. At 7:15am I received a phone call from one of the companions. He said his ride fell through. I told him there are ten people on the waiting list and if he doesn't make it then he has to go to the end of the list. It upset him but because it was too late to put someone in his place and I had no way to get him in sooner. At 8am he said he found a ride but that there was an accident on the freeway. His ride got frustrated and put him and the dog out at the exit so he never made it. At the same time, I received a call from the companion of the second dog. I had looked for him yesterday, after not being able to contact him by phone so I was very grateful to know they would be there. They showed up on time. It was around 8:30am when I left that location. I made a quick stop at my house and then went back out to the Mary S Robert's spay/neuter clinic to meet someone with a female cat. On my way to the clinic, they called to tell me someone made a mistake and fed the cat. I told the, to bring it and we would see if surgery could be done. They were not there by 9:30a, so I let them know I would cancel if they did not call or show up within the next few minutes. They told me there was a misunderstanding and finally showed up a little before 10am. I was going to go straight home after that but when I was driving up Jurupa, I saw a familiar vehicle and knew there would be a dog there. I drove to where they were and visited with him and a couple other dogs that were there too. I distributed a few supplies and then went home for about and hour, before going to meet my friend Pamela Locatell for lunch. "One by one we get them done, because the only way to combat pet overpopulation and euthanasia in our shelters is to spay and neuter"... .Waters from Niagara Bottling Company, ARCO fuel cards, chicken jerky treats, wet dog food and a 20 pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company were shared.
This was not a very productive day for meeting with people and their pets. I spent my normal amount of time driving around so it was not for a lack of trying. One of the pets that is getting spayed tomorrow has a companion with a phone that never seems to be on or working. I have not been able to confirm his appointment so I decided to go and look for them. I went to the last place I had seen them which was Jurupa and Van Buren. They were not there and neither was anyone else with pets. I took Jurupa to Grand in hopes of catching up with a couple of people in the area. My phone call woke up the first person I called so we decided against my waiting for her get ready and walk to where I usually park. The second person did not answer her phone but did text me later in the morning. She is going to try and get a small group to meet on Saturday. That will give me a chance to go back to storage and grab a couple more 20 pound bags of dog food from the Star Milling Company. I have not caught up with anyone taking Tuesday showers at the downtown Salvation Army but I always check anyway so I started driving in that direction. I went through Ryan Bonominio Park and the old Pin Center too but had no luck at either place. There was one pet at the Salvation Army so I spent some time with her. I drove through Fairmount Park next. The only person I saw was in his vehicle and it looked like he was sleeping as were his dogs so I continued to Mission Boulevard. The other day, I spotted a woman with a puppy I have been trying to get neutered but I was on my way somewhere and could not stop. She has been moving around but thankfully she was in the same spot so I stopped. When I was done at that location, I drove out to our PO Box to pick up a donation of wet dog food and then went home... Waters from Niagara Bottling Company, wet dog food, small bag of dog food, Inaba Mega Churus, Inaba Churus, Inaba Fun Bites, Inaba Churu Bites, Inaba Churu Rolls, bully sticks and Tiller Tugs squeaky tug toy were shared.
I was contacted by someone at the Path of Life Community Shelter regarding a 3 month old german shepherd puppy. I replied that I would be there around 9am and we would be able to take then. When I arrived, there were actually two other people with puppies from the same litter and they did not look any older than 6-8 weeks old. Apparently, someone showed up last night and was going to dump the puppies so as what usually people took them. Homeless encampments and areas where homeless stay or congregate has become a routine place for dumping unwanted litters. I made it clear to those I was with today that they need to stop allowing this and say no. If the puppies are dumped anyway, they need to photograph the car and plate and report the people doing this. Especially now that we are down to such a limited number of spays/neuters per week, I can't commit to when I am going to be able to help. These puppies were too young anyway but might be ready for their first set of vaccinations which we do not provide, unless it is at a spay/neuter appointment. I suggested the three people start the puppy vaccinations and an initial deworm and to keep watch for them getting sick. That happens with so many of these dumped litters of both puppies and kittens. In addition to the three puppies, I visited with and distributed supplies to five other dogs too. When I left that location, I went to our PO Box and then home. I was only out for a couple of hours, because I had some things to tend to at home... Waters from Niagara Bottling Company, puppy pads, Inaba Twins for dogs, wet dog food, 2 boxes of wet puppy food, small bag of puppy food, collapsible pet dish, Inaba Churus, Inaba Fun Bites, Inaba Churu Bites, kabob chew sticks and bully sticks were shared.
My first stop was at a river bottom outlet in an industrial area of Jurupa Valley. I visited with two pets and distributed supplies for them and other pets that live with their companions. It had been quite some time since I visited with 'Scamp' and 'Joey' so I made a special trip to the Eastside to do that. I distributed supplies and after our visit, I went to Fairmount Park to bring supplies to a gentleman I saw flying a sign near the 60 freeway ramp. I visited with his three dogs, distributed supplies and then visited with one more dog that showed up with his companion. There was one more vehicle there with three dogs in it. One of them jumped out and I knew she wanted me to visit with them but by the time we were done, I had to get back home. I called out to her companion to make sure she got back in the van safely. I just visited them two days ago but I still felt bad that I had to leave... My plans this morning were to go to Colton to meet with some people at an encampment there and to meet with someone who stays in the river bottom. When I arrived, the person coming up from the river bottom was not there. I texted her, because she is always on time. She has three dogs and a few cats. She apologized and said the coyotes kept her up all night. I told her I would visit with the other people and pets first. I did that and it gave her a little time to get ready. She did not bring any of her dogs but she did bring a kitten that wound up in the river bottom. She would like to get it spayed/neutered. I told her I have a waiting list now that I am so low on funds and cannot do many pets each week. I gave her food for her dogs and cats as well as for the kitten and then I drove over to Fairmount Park. I was hoping to find 'Honey Girl' and her companion. I was thankful to see them as soon as I pulled in to the park. I had some things I wanted to discuss with the companion and I always enjoy spending time with his dog. It was starting to heat up a bit and I was running low on supplies in my vehicle so I drove to our PO Box and then home... In addition to going to the Eastside to visit with pets this morning, I was also out looking for one that has been missing for a couple of days. I stopped on Massachusetts Avenue first but nobody was there with pets. I drove over to Hunter Park with no luck there either. I drove through Fairmount Park next. I found one pet and his companion in a parking lot and then three more pets with their companion over near the Rose Garden. I was also looking for 'Honey Girl' and her companion but did not see them anywhere in the park. When I left that location, I drove back to the Eastside. I drove to some of the parks in the area. The chances of the lost dog hanging out in any of them was slim but they were close to where the dog took off so I took a chance. By the time I was done driving around, it was getting close to when I needed to go to our storage units for Star Milling's monthly donation being delivered by Christine Langdon. I took back streets so I could look for 'Solo', on my way. I did find him and his companion and spent some time there, before heading to storage. I was extra grateful to be getting the pet food. We were completely put of the 20 pound bags and are down to four or five small bags. The 3.5 pound bags we got from the Rescue Bank lasted a long time but now those 900+ pounds are down to 14 pounds. I hope something comes through again in the very near future, because we just don't have the funds to purchase large quantities at a retail price... Waters from Niagara Bottling Company, wet dog food, small bag of dog food, small bag of puppy food, individual bags of chicken jerky treats, Inaba Mega Churus, chicken jerky treats, kabob chew sticks, bully sticks and Kong squealy balls were shared.
Four of the six pets that received 'the works' yesterday spent last night at the motel. There was actually a room reserved for one of the other companions but she never showed and I was unable to reach her by phone or text. I visited the four that were spayed and neutered as well as four more that happened to be there too. While at the motel, I also found out that the two sister kittens we had done at the Riverside County Department of Animal Services spay and neuter clinic were actually sister and brother. One of them was having side effects from the anesthesia so I suggested her companion go back to the clinic if she doesn't seem her normal self by tomorrow. When I left the motel, I stopped by our PO Box and picked up a couple of donation packages. One of them was from Chewy so I do not know who it is from. I am hoping to find out, when I get around to posting a photo... Waters from Niagara Bottling Company, canned ravioli, beef sticks, cracker packs, cereal bars, small bag of dog food, Inaba Twins for dogs, wet dog food, simply cesar chicken pet food, puppy pads, small collar, small leash, fleece blanket, small stainless steel pet dish, individual bags of chicken jerky treats, Inaba Mega Churus, Inaba Churu Rolls, Inaba Fun Bites, Inaba Churu Bites, chicken jerky treats, kabob chew sticks and bully sticks were shared.
We got off to a bit of a rocky start, this morning. My first appointments were at the Riverside County Department of Animal Services spay/neuter clinic. A mama cat and one of her kittens were supposed to get 'the works'. Their companion was thirty minutes late and he did not have the mama with him. He had two of her female kittens. We were able to get them both checked in but it was still frustrating. The main concern was to get the mama spayed, before she got pregnant again. I asked the companion to secure her in a carrier last night and he did not and was unable to catch her today `for the appointment. The good thing is that two female kittens are getting spayed but I hope he is able to do something about the mama and the other kittens. When I left that location, I made a quick stop at home and then headed over to the Mary S. Robert's spay/neuter clinic. We had 2 male cats, one male dog and a male puppy scheduled. The puppy was moved from last week, when his companion couldn't get a ride. The two people with the cats showed up on time and the two people with the dogs were thirty minutes late but everyone got checked in. "One by one we get them done, because the only way to combat pet overpopulation and euthanasia in our shelters is to spay and neuter"... Waters from Niagara Bottling Company, ARCO fuel cards, canned ravioli, beef sticks, cracker packs, cereal bars, small bag of kitten food, wet kitten food, Inaba Churu Pops, Inaba chicken stew for cats, Inaba Twins for cats, wet cat food and a 17 pound bag of cat food from the Star Milling Company were shared.
I spent my morning in the parking lot at the Path of Life Community Shelter on the Eastside. I visited with five dogs and distributed supplies. When I left that location, I drove around for a bit looking for other people with pets and tried calling two people as well but I had no luck. Because I had a counseling appointment, I did not have time to go look anywhere else so I went home a little earlier than usual. I am beginning some new dental work tomorrow and I am not sure if I will be able to do my daily travels but I will try. If I do not succeed, I will be back out on Wednesday for our spay/neuter day... Waters from Niagara Bottling Company, wet dog food, Inaba Fun Bites, Inaba Churu Rolls, Inaba Mega Churus, Inaba Twins for dogs, chicken jerky treats, kabob chew sticks and bully sticks were shared were shared.
Before I made any visits this morning, I met Cindy and Seth Cox at our storage units. They were bringing a few donations from the 'Building Up Lives Foundation'. Thank You to both of them and to the Non-Profit for the donation. I will be sure to post a photo tomorrow. When I left that location, I drove to one of the river bottom outlets off of Grand and Rubidoux. I was supposed to meet with three people and three pets but one of the gentleman was unable to make it. I gave the two people who did show up the last two 20 pound bags of dog food we had until our monthly Star Milling donation comes in on Friday the 11th. We normally don't run out of the 20 pound bags but since we have been so low on the 3-6 pound bags, I have had to share some of the larger bags with those I would not normally give them to. I am sure we will do ok. I just won't have the dry food needed to share with the pets getting spayed/neutered this week but I will make it up to them. My third and final stop was off of Jurupa and Van Buren. The person I was looking for was not there but another gentleman with a dog that needs spayed was so I was able to talk to him about doing her in a week or two. When I got home, my daughter was at my house and my dog was very happy. I had lunch plans with a friend. My daughter did not want to go so I went for about an hour and then spent the rest of the day at home... I had a lab appointment at Kaiser this morning but I was done in time to make a quick stop at home and then head out to Colton. I wanted to bring dog license tags to a couple of dogs at that location as well as a large dog bed I had bought that was too big for one small dog. When I arrived, I met a puppy that will be needing 'the works'. I visited with him, another puppy that did not make it on Wednesday but was rescheduled for this week and three other dogs. I visited, distributed supplies and then drove over by Fairmount Park. The companion of 'Honey Girl' was in the hospital and someone was caring for his dog. They were supposed to be across from the park so I went to go look. However, I was was driving up one of the side streets, I spotted her with her companion near the old National Guard building. I drove over to where they were and found out he had just been released from the hospital. He had a heart attack and some other issues that were treated. What he did not have was anyone picking him up upon release or anywhere to go. I know there have been a few people from City Net speaking with him but it doesn't seem like they followed up to help him. I am going to make some calls to a a couple of City Net numbers that I have and see if any of those people will help him. There wasn't much I could do about it today, because it is the week end. When that visit was over, I left supplies and then drove out to our PO Box to pick up a donation of kitten food, before heading home... Waters from Niagara Bottling Company, large bag of recyclables, large dog bed, one year Riverside County Department of Animal Services dog license tags, meat sticks for dogs, small bag of puppy food, wet puppy food, small bag of dog food, wet dog food, Inaba Twins for dogs, Inaba Churu Rolls, Inaba Churus, small Tiller Tugs tug toys, chicken jerky treats and bully sticks were shared were shared.
My first stop of the day was on the Eastside in the parking lot of the Path of Life Community Shelter. I visited with three dogs there and distributed supplies. When I left that location, I drove to Victoria and University but did not find who I was looking for so I continued to Vine and Third. The people and pets I was hoping to see were no longer there. My next stop was at Fairmount Park. I visited with one dog, distributed supplies and drove around the entire park when we were done. I did not find anyone else with pets so I drove up Mission Blvd. through Rubidoux. I did see a few people with pets but none of them would accept our services when I spoke to them in the past so I did not stop. I still had time before needing to get back home so I headed toward our PO Box. I was hoping to stop and talk to a young man who is always panhandling with his dog on Limonite. He is usually near the Jack in the Box but I did not see him there. However, he was walking up Limonite. There was nowhere for me to park to I continued to the PO Box. When I drove back up Limonite, I did not see him right away and then noticed he was on the side of the ARCO station. I thought about pulling in but the gentleman who bred his pit bulls was there and I did not feel like getting into a heated discussion about him lying to me the other day so I decided to just go home... We reserved five rooms at the motel last night. Two were for dogs that received 'the works' and three were for our 'Summer On The Streets 2023'. The dogs that got spayed were there and so were two dogs that were there thanks to our fundraiser but we did have one no show. While I was at the motel, I also visited with another dog that was in a room. We did not pay for his room but I told his companion we would put them in a room sometime during the next couple of weeks. When I left the motel, I went home for a bit, went to get my nails done and then checked our PO Box... I actually overslept this morning which made everything twice as stressful but with the exception of one person not getting a ride and another being over an hour late, the day was fairly productive... A few weeks ago, I received a call from a City Net employee regarding a dog that was injured. It was a dog belonging to a homeless Veteran in Moreno Valley. I shared the number for Pets of The Homeless and offered to spay the dog when she was healed. This morning, City Net brought the dog and her companion to the Riverside County Department of Animal Services to get 'the works'. In addition, we also provided the same services for a woman with a five year old female Chihuahua. We have been trying to get this done for over a month and it finally happened today. After I left that location, I went home to give my dog a break, have my protein drink and then go back out to the Mary S Robert's Pet Adoption Center spay/neuter clinic. We had 2 female cats, 1 male cat and 1 male puppy scheduled there. When I was on my way to the clinic, the companion of the puppy texted to tell me her ride fell through. I told her to keep trying to get a ride but if she did not get one while I was still at the clinic then it would be a 'no go' for today. Unfortunately, she did not get a ride. When I arrived at the clinic, one of the cats was there with his companion. The other two were late but they finally made it. "One by one we get them done, because the only way to combat pet overpopulation and euthanasia in our shelters is to spay and neuter"... I did quite a bit of driving today but only managed to visit with five pets. I was supposed to meet with some people at a river bottom outlet in an industrial area of Jurupa Valley but nobody called to confirm and the phone went straight to voicemail so I started on the opposite side of town by Van Buren and Jurupa. None of the people with pets were in the area so I continued driving towards Ryan Bonominio Park and the old Pin Center. There were no people with pets at either of those places either so I headed to Fairmount Park. I saw 'Ruckus' and his companion over by the legion and I pulled in the parking lot. When we were done, I drove up Market street towards the flats and then decided to go to Rubidoux. While driving up Mission Blvd., I did not see the woman with the puppy and kitten but did get a surprise at one of the bus stops. A dog named 'Iggy' was sitting there with his companion. They moved in with family a year or so ago and I had lost contact with them. I drove into the Stater's parking lot and got out for a visit. The little guy was happy to see me and the feeling was mutual. I still some time left, before I had to get home so I drove to Agate Park in Jurupa Valley and visited a family who stays in their motorhome. We visited, I distributed a few supplies, stopped by our PO Box and called it a day. The rest of what had to be done was either at my desk or on my phone and I was able to do all of that at home with the air conditioning on...
