Friday's Furry Friends 3-31-2023

I started my day with information from a dental appointment that was not what I had hoped for and then drove to the Eastside. I parked in the lot next to the Path of Life Community Shelter, visited eight pets and distributed supplies. At one point, I found myself getting frustrated and decided to leave... One would think that with the amount of outrage over the number of pets being euthanized in our shelters that more and more people would be on board with spaying and neutering. I am finding the opposite, especially with the population we deal with, although I have many low income people seeking vaccinations and pet food but won't spay or neuter. Just this morning, I met a gentleman with a female pit or mastiff mix in front of the homeless shelter. He was in need of dog food. When I asked if his dog was spayed, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations, he said he was not spaying, because he wanted her to have another litter. I have no idea how many she has already had. I told him I don't help people who breed and he got a bit defensive. I received two phone calls this afternoon from people who said someone recommended us to them. Neither was willing to spay or neuter. They just wanted vaccinations. As soon as I said I only do the vaccinations when I spay and neuter, I was hung up on. I wish All of these people had to volunteer in area of the shelter where so many animals lose their lives. I wish they could all hear the cries and realize how horribly selfish they are being. I have been able to talk sense with a few people over the years but most have their minds made up and then I become the enemy for not helping. I will always stand my ground about this issue. Breeding and Buying while shelter pets are dying is something I want no part of... Waters from Niagara Bottling Company, wet dog food, small bag of dog food, Inaba Twins for dogs, Inaba Churus, Inaba Churu Rolls, Inaba Churu Pops, chicken jerky treats kabob chew sticks and bully sticks were shared.

Thursday's Treasure 3-30-2023

'Tuesday's Treasure'~At 3:30am I received a text from one of the people whose dog we neutered yesterday. He had a dirt bike chained to the back of his van which was backed in to a parking space directly in front of his room. He was going to sell the dirt bike to pay for repairs to his van where he lives with his dog. Somebody took bolt cutters and took it. There are cameras but it was too hard to make out who the thief was so it is doubtful anything will become of this. I felt sad and angry that this happened but not much I could do about it. I gave the companion my last two gift cards so he could get something to eat but that was about it. Because of the rain, I did not go anywhere else either but plan to be back out there tomorrow after a dental appointment that is most likely going to be giving me more unpleasant news. I just have to wait and see... Waters from Niagara Bottling Company, our last Subway gift card, our last McDonald's gift card, chicken jerky treats and a bully stick were shared.

Once again, the rain has put a literal 'damper' on our spay and neuter appointments. That being said, we were still able to provide 'the works' for two male dogs and continue vaccinations for a puppy we neutered a few weeks ago. Our total for the month was 14 pets. That is lower than usual but certainly better than it could have been. Of the 14, we had 9 dogs and 5 cats. There were 3 female dogs, 3 female cats, 6 male dogs and 2 male cats. Hoping for a more successful month in April both financially and with our appointments. "One by one we get them done, because the only way to combat pet overpopulation and euthanasia in our shelters is to spay and neuter." Waters from Niagara Bottling Company, our last fuel gift card, plush squeaky pet toy, inflatable e-collar, 20 pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company and wet dog food were shared.

Tuesday's Treasures 3-28-2023

It was a busy morning, even though I only had time to visit with three pets. I started with a cat at a river bottom outlet in an industrial area of Jurupa Valley. I was supposed to meet someone else there too but she could not make it. As I was leaving, I received a call from a county worker who was trying to find a wire kennel for a small dog named 'Pikachu'. His companion is moving to a program and needed the kennel to keep the dog with her there. I knew I had one in storage so I asked the county worker if they could meet me there. On my way, I drove through part of Fairmount Park. I saw a dog next to a van that I thought belonged to a gentleman I know. When I drove into the parking lot, I could tell the van was not the same one I thought it was and the dog did not look familiar. I was about to exit the parking lot when a young man was waving for my attention. He said he actually needed to speak to me about getting the dog neutered so I pulled back in and parked. I gave the dog a few things and we discussed neutering tomorrow, if he could find a ride. I only have one fuel card left which makes things more difficult. Most cannot get rides or drive their vehicles without the help. Tomorrow we have three dogs getting 'the works' and one we just neutered and getting his second set of vaccinations. I won't have new fuel cards for a couple of weeks so I am not sure how many will still be able to make and keep appointments. In any case, when I left the park I drove to our storage units. I met the county worker, the dog needing the kennel and his companion. I was able to provide them with everything but a soft carrier for the dog. I had one but it was not large enough. They did get what was needed most so I was happy about that. When I left storage, I ran a few errands and then got home in time for lunch... Waters from Niagara Bottling Company, wire pet kennel, crate liner, pet jacket, 2 medium stainless steel pet bowls, large collar and leash set, rain poncho, hand warmers, large cat harness, doggie waste bags, small bag pf puppy food, wet cat food, Inaba Twins for dogs, Inaba Churu Rolls, Inaba Churu Pops, Inaba tuna fillets, Inaba Churus for dogs, chicken jerky treats, squeaky Kong ball, kabob chew sticks and bully sticks were shared.

Monday On The Move 3-27-2023

The wind was kicking up this morning so I wasn't sure how successful I would be on my daily travels. I know many places are closed today, including the Access Center, but I still drove to Massachusetts on the Eastside to check on those in tents with their pets. The first dog I met up with was 'Buddy' and he was limping. He got loose and chased a dog down the street and then a car grazed him. Just like all the others this has happened to, the vehicle did not bother to stop and the companion did not get the license plate. The little guy was favoring his leg and not his usual excited self but he still wanted my attention. I tried to call Feeding Pets of The Homeless, because the companion's phone was dead and he had nowhere to charge it but nobody answered. I am hoping the dog heals on his own but if not, I will be trying to call again to get him help. While I was there, I visited with four other dogs too. There was someone in one of the tents who wanted her dogs vaccinated but she is breeding them so I told her I would not help. I said I don't help people breed. The dogs are so cute but the female already has one litter in the tent and the companion plans to breed her a second time. I just can't deal with the selfishness so I walked away. I had a counseling appointment at 11am so I went home in time to get ready for that and then spent the rest of the day doing whatever needed done for this charity. We are still looking for someone to help us fundraise and I really hope that materializes so our work can continue... Waters from Niagara Bottling Company, doggie waste bags, wet dog food, Inaba Twins for dogs, Inaba Churu Rolls, Inaba Churu Pops, Inaba Churus for dogs, chicken jerky treats and bully sticks were shared.

One of the homeless we have been providing services for was recently placed in a motel. She spent many years in the river bottom and all of her pets spent their lives there. We even helped rehome a couple of them. She went into a program, when there were still beds available at the Path of Life Community Shelter, before being placed in the motel. Her housing finally went through and she will move into an apartment with her dogs in two days. The motel they are in is near Kaiser so I asked if it might be ok to visit this morning, after I went to pick up a prescription. She said it was, so I went for a visit. After our visit, I went home for a bit, ran an errand and then went to meet a family that stays in a motor home near Agate Park. The rain kept me away for awhile so I was happy to finally catch up with them. I visited with all three pets and distributed supplies, before calling it a day... Waters from Niagara Bottling Company, doggie waste bags, kitty litter, wet dog food, wet cat food, Inaba Twins for dogs, Inaba Churu Rolls, Inaba Churu Pops, Inaba Churus for dogs, 2-20 pound bags of dog food from the Star Milling Company, chicken jerky treats, squeaky pet toy and bully sticks were shared.

Yesterday, I was contacted by the companions of pets that are in need of supplies. I told them that as long as my granddaughter was not born this morning that I would meet them. She was not so I let them know. We agreed to meet at one of the river bottom outlets in an industrial area of Jurupa Valley. There were supposed to be three people with five dogs but it wound up being two people with three dogs. Later in the day, I heard from the third companion. She woke up late and was sick which is why she was a no show. When I l left that location, I tried a couple other places but could not find anyone with pets. I did see one gentleman asleep in his vehicle but I did not want to wake him so I kept driving. I went to our storage units again to pick up more pet food, checked our PO Box, got fuel and then called it a day. I guess I should say that I called it a day on the streets. There is always so much more work to do once I get home... Waters from Niagara Bottling Company, pet jackets, wet dog food, wet puppy food, Inaba Twins for dogs, Inaba Churu Rolls, Inaba Churu Pops, chicken jerky treats, Inaba Churus, 2- 20 pound bags of dog food from the Star Milling Company, squeaky dog toys, squeaky tennis balls, kabob chew sticks and bully sticks were shared.

I spent most of the morning at two different locations on the Eastside. My first stop was at Hunter Park and the second on Massachusetts in the parking lot of the Path of Life Community Shelter. Thursday's Treasures 3-23-2023

It was drizzling on and off this morning but no heavy rain so I was able to meet up with a couple of people at one of the river bottom outlets in Rialto. The heavy rains have made it difficult for some of the people to come up to where we meet so I was thankful to make it happen today. One person brought one dog up and another brought her three dogs. All received visits and needed supplies. I also sent supplies for some cats that live with the three dogs. There was no way to bring them and the dogs and I wanted to be sure they got their food and treats. All of the pets were spayed/neutered by Taking It To The Streets with Lori and Shira... When I left that location, I headed out to the Jurupa Valley Motel6. One of the pets that received 'the works' yesterday was supposed to be in a room there. When I called, I found out they were not in the room but they did being the dog back while I was there. I got to check on him and spend a few minutes with another dog too. When we were done, I went to the 99 cent store to purchase some of the collar and leash sets I have been putting on pets. I bought different collars in each size. They are not nearly as sturdy as the ones we get from Max and Neo but they serve their purpose when a pet shows up with neither a collar or a leash. After shopping, I went to our PO Box and then home. I have been an antibiotic for a dental issue and it is one my body doesn't process well. Unfortunately, none of the meds designed to help with this particular issue agree with me so I am trying to deal with it one day at a time. I am on day four of ten and just want to get through this in hopes that it works. In the mean time, I am giving myself permission to cut my daily travels short, if I feel the need to go home and rest... Waters from Niagara Bottling Company, large bag of recyclables, hand and toe warmers, emergency blankets, pet jackets, large collar and leash set, two medium collar and leash sets, Max and Neo large dog collar, heavy duty dog leash, wet dog food, wet cat food, Inaba Churu Rolls, Inaba Churu Pops, chicken jerky treats, Inaba Churus, 17 pound bag of cat food from the Star Milling Company, 2-20 pound bags of dog food from the Star Milling Company, kabob chew sticks and bully sticks were shared.

Last night, I had five pets confirmed for 'the works' today. We did not need to utilize any appointments at the Riverside County Department of Animal Servies spay/neuter clinic, because we got a last minute cancellation for a dog and a cat that were supposed to get done there. What we were left with were two female cats, one male cat, one female dog and one male dog. I also had a cat coming in so we could complete the services she did not get when she was spayed and had eyelid surgery. She still needed chipped, vaccinated and a nail trim. Both dogs showed up as did the male cat but the woman with the two female cats was a 'no-show' and she did not bother to contact me. She confirmed the appointment late yesterday afternoon and was disappointed that we do not offer more than one night in the motel room for cats but she did say she would be there. I wanted to blame the rain but there had not been any rain for a few hours so I can't say what happened. I am just grateful we were able to get the other three in. When I left the clinic I stopped at Staples and our storage units, before heading home. As I was driving home, the rain started up again. I was thankful to have been able to stay dry up until that point. "One by one we get them done, because the only way to combat pet overpopulation and euthanasia in our shelters is to spay and neuter"... I had an Ophthalmology appointment at Kaiser this morning and we were expecting rain so I wasn't sure whether or not I would do my daily travels. However, the sun was out and I decided an hour or so was better than nothing. I did not have time to go and look for someone I was unable to catch back up with yesterday but I did spend a good hour or so on the Eastside. I parked on Massachusetts to visit with one dog and then in the parking lot of the Path of Life Community Shelter to visit some of the dogs staying in tents along that street. I visited with six pets and distributed supplies, before going home to give my own dog a potty break and then head across town to Kaiser. I told everyone I will be back on Massachusetts Avenue this Friday and to spread the word to those I missed today... A couple of people who needed food for their three dogs asked if I might be able to meet them at North Park this morning. They were going to be there to attend an outdoor church. I don't normally go to the Eastside on a Sunday but we are expecting rain and I may not get there tomorrow so I agreed to meet today. I used to go there all the time, when a group of homeless slept in the park but I had not been there in a few years. When I pulled up, I saw a couple with a dog that I thought was going to meet at the clinic last week. We discussed the dog's need and I gave them a few supplies. When we were done, I parked in the parking lot, visited with three dogs and distributed more pet supplies. My next stop was going to be on Tequesquite Avenue but I made a little detour on the way when I saw some people with dogs at the old Pine Center. I told them I would return, after meeting with the person I was going to next. The gentleman arrived with his three dogs soon after. We visited and I distributed supplies to them, before returning to the old Pine Center. One of the people I wanted to speak to had left but someone else I knew with a dog showed up. There was also a large male dog there but he was not neutered. I did give him treats but no supplies and no photos were taken. Because I planned on having lunch with a friend, I decided to call it a day. I stopped to pick up a few things at the store, went home for a bit and then went to meet my friend. The rain started when I left so my dog did not get his walk but I managed to get some extra work done which was a good thing... Waters from Niagara Bottling Company, handmade pet jackets, pet sweater, collapsible pet bowls, doggie waste bags with leash clip, large stainless steel pet dish, small bags of dog food, 3-20 pound bags of dog food from the Star Milling Company, large trash bags, 17 pound bag of cat food from the Star Milling Company, wet kitten food, wet cat food, Inaba Twins for dogs, Inaba Churus for dogs, Tiller Tugs squeaky tug, Inaba Churu Rolls, Inaba Churu Pops, chicken jerky treats, kabob chew sticks and bully sticks were shared.

At 7am, I was at our storage units picking up pet food and waters. I took everything back to my house, unloaded most of it and loaded whatever else I needed for today's travels. An awning company that did some work at my house met me a little after 9am to seal a portion that had a small leak during our heavy rains. Once they left, I was on my way to meet a few people and pets at one of the river bottom outlets. When I was at the light on VanBuren and Jurupa, I noticed a gentleman walking with three pit bulls. I did not recognize the dogs or their companion and I could not pull over so I decided to go back and look for them after I was finished where I was going. Not everyone showed up to meet me but three people did with their four dogs so I spent time visiting and then distributing needed supplies. One of the companion's wound up nursing a tiny sick kitty back to health and now that she is older he wants to get her spayed. I sent some food for the cat and hope to get her in to the clinic this week. When we were done, I went back to where I had seen the man with the three dogs. I saw a few homeless in cars and on the street but no dogs so I did not stop. I just got fuel, ran into the grocery store, the Post Office and then home. It was a beautiful sunny morning and I was able to get my dog's walk in. I unknowingly had gotten pepper spray on my hands and clothing, while trying to chase off a dog that was loose. That created a 'hot mess' for me. I spent the next hour feeling like parts of me were on fire and was very grateful when it wore off... The only place I went this morning was the Jurupa Valley Motel6. I went to check on the cats that were spayed and neutered yesterday. One of them also had eyelid surgery and I wanted to make sure she was doing ok with that as well. The male was recuperating nicely and the female's eyelid surgery looked great. However, she had just opened her sutures so her companions were going to go back and have the incision closed again. While at the motel I also visited with a dog that is staying there with his family. I had an appointment to get to soon after so I did not go anywhere else. I was supposed to go to lunch with a friend afterwards but she had to cancel so I just went home and walked my dog.Tomorrow I have a dental appointment. Saturday, I have someone coming over to seal one of my awnings and Monday I have a Kaiser appointment with my Othalmologist. I still plan to go out daily, as long as it is not pouring down rain, but I will not be able to stay out as long as I usually do and still make it to my appointments. Hopefully, I can still get enough accomplished so the days feel productive but taking care of my emotional and physical health always has to come first. In addition, my first grandbaby is due anytime now and when that happens, I will surely need to take time off now and then so I can enjoy being a grandmother! ... Things did not go as planned with a couple of the pets today but I got everything worked out for one of them. This very wet weather we have been having is causing problems with my scheduling spay and neuter appointments. No sunshine means many of the homeless cannot charge their phones which means I am unable to keep in contact with most of them. As a result, we only had three appointments confirmed for today. They were all female cats. Two at the Riverside County Department of Animal Services spay/neuter clinic and the other at the Mary S. Robert's spay/neuter clinic. At 7:30 this morning, I recieved a call from a family member saying that her daughter was not going to make it. I was told previously that she wanted to schedule but could not because she did not have a ride. I actually got her a ride for today but she could not be bothered to wake up. Her appointment was wasted and I will not be assisting her in the future...First stop was the clinic at animal services. We checked the cat in, I went home for a bit and then went back out to the second facility. While I was there checking in that pet, I received a call from animal services saying they could not do surgery on the cat we had dropped off. They said her eye was infected and she needed drops and antibiotics for two weeks, before they could do the spay. I spoke to her companions and said I would go back there, pick her up (even with my cat allergies) and drive her to Van Buren Animal Hospital to see what their thoughts were. The cat's eye has looked bad since birth and I thought it was deformed but was not sure until the Dr. Oh confirmed. So, we got her checked in there to have her eyelid repaired and a spay. I may try to raise some funds for the eyelid surgery as that is not something we normally cover but I wanted her to get it done while she was already under. In a couple of weeks, I will have her chipped, vaccinated and flea treated at the clinic we normally do that. Not the day I planned but two cats will not be adding to pet overpopulation in the homeless community or our community at large." One by one we get them done, because the only way to combat pet overpopulation and euthanasia in our shelters is to spay and neuter." Fuel cards and hard carriers were shared.

First thing this morning, I drove to the downtown Salvation Army and through Fairmount Park but nobody was at either place with pets. Because I was unable to get to all of the pets on Massachusetts Avenue yesterday, I decided not to wait until Friday and go back today. I only found three of those I missed but we did visit and each received needed supplies. When I left that location, I called the companion of 'Solo'. He was at a local church taking a shower. I told him I would drive over there. While on my way, I spotted someone on Third Street in front of the Jack in the Box. He had a small dog in a stroller. I drove a little further, turned around and went to meet them. The gentleman told me I helped him with a dog he used to have, when he was staying in the shelter. He now has a small dog approximately one year of age. It began drizzling while we were visiting so our visit was not a long one but when they left, they had a bag of supplies. When I arrived at the church, it was still drizzling. I never saw his companion , who was showering, but I did visit with 'Solo'. I made sure to leave a bag of supplies for them as well. While driving toward my home, the rain started coming down a little harder which meant I did not need to hurry home to walk my dog. That gave me time to pick up a few items from the store and check our PO Box where I was very thankful to find two large bags of bully sticks... Before I drove to the Eastside this morning, I ran into Stater Brothers to pick up a couple of items I forgot to get yesterday. I had no idea I was also there to help get a stray dog back home. While I was in the check out, a medium sized dog came running into the store. I went over to ask the store manager if I could help, when the dog ran back outside. The two of us went out and he was able to get the dog to come to him while I went to get a slip lead and my microchip scanner. The dog was chipped! I was in a hurry but called Sgt. Jason Sanders at the Riverside County Department of Animal Services and asked if he could send someone to try and get the dog back home. He said yes and the store manager agreed to hold on to the dog while waiting for an AC Officer to get there….I left the store and drove to Massachusetts Avene. The street was full of tents and vehicles. I parked at one end and spent time with some of the pets there and then drove to the parking lot of the Path of Life Community Shelter and did the same. My first stop of the day was to meet someone who made us more pet jackets and to bring a couple some food for their dog. Even though I was there yesterday, I made arrangements to meet each of them at Hunter Park. The person bringing the jackets actually arrived before I did but the couple with the dog were no shows. Because I was on the Eastside again, I decided to go to where 'Scamp' and 'Joey' stay. Thankfully, they were there and their companion was awake. The only time they are able to visit is on the week-ends and I normally don't like to go back to the Eastside three time in one week but I was already there so it worked out great. When I left that location, I drove to the 60 freeway so I could go out to the Jurupa Valley Motel6. Someone was in need of kitty litter and I finally had some to give to her. I also had an opportunity to visit with her dog and a puppy that was in the room with them. The sun was out and the temperature was in the high 50's so I wanted to get home and take my dog on a walk. The rain kept me from doing so for a couple of days and I wanted to be sure to get one in, before I got too busy with other things. He was definitely happy to get out there again... I had no luck at a river bottom outlet in an industrial area of Jurupa Valley or at Fairmount Park. Because I missed my usual trip to the Eastside on Friday, I drove out that way today. I went to Hunter Park first where I visited with one dog and her companion, before continuing on to Massachusetts near the Path of Life Community Shelter. The street was lined with tents and cars as well as a medical team, local church and someone passing out hot cocoa. I found a place to park and began walking up and down the street. I visited with six dogs. None of them are in the kennels there but all are in tents with their companions. I would have liked to visit with a few more but it is my daughter's birthday and I wanted to go home, change and take her out for lunch. I will be back there on Monday and will offer our services to anyone I might have missed... Waters from Niagara Bottling Company, large bag of recyclables, hand warmers, Max and Neo fleece blanket, small bags of dog food, 20-pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, Inaba Twins for dogs, Inaba Churus for dogs, chicken jerky treats, large collar and leash set, large stainless pet dish, large trash bags, squeaky tennis ball, plush squeaky dog toy, kabob chew sticks and bully sticks were shared.

Thursday's Treasures 3-9-2023

At 8am, I was at the Riverside County Department of Animal Services picking up dog licenses from dogs we spayed/neutered last month. When I left there, I drove to the Mary S. Robert's Pet Adoption Center's spay/neuter clinic to drop off a couple of containers filled with my banana chocolate chip bread. I stopped to get fuel and then went home for a short time before heading over to the Jurupa Valley Motel6. The four dogs we provided 'the works' for were there and I had an opportunity to visit with each one as well as distribute needed supplies. Our #1900 was a cat but she went home with a woman who has an apartment so we did not get them a room. When I left the motel, I ran a personal errand, went home to take my dog for a walk and then met some good friends for lunch. The remainder of the day was spent doing more personalizing on my new laptop and taking care of whatever else needed done for 'Taking It To The Streets'... Waters from Niagara Bottling Company, Max and Neo fleece blanket, small bags of dog food, Inaba Twins for dogs, Inaba Churus for dogs, Inaba Churu Pops, Inaba tuna fillets, chicken jerky treats, kabob chew sticks, collapsible pet dish, large stainless pet dish, large trash bags and doggie waste bags with flashlight leash clip were shared.

#1898,1899,#1900!,1901,1902,1903 Get 'The Works' 3-8-2023

I am happy to share that we hit our #1900 today!! We provided 'the works' for 3 male dogs, 2 female dogs and 1 female cat as well as vaccinations microchip and flea/tick treatment for one more…..We got off to a great start. The person meeting me for her 7:45 am appointments at the Riverside County Department of Animal Services spay/neuter clinic showed up on time. In addition, she had someone with her who had one dog that needed 'the works' and another needing a microchip, all of her vaccinations and flea/tick treated. I had an available appointment for one male dog at the Mary S. Robert's Pet Adoption Center spay/neuter clinic at 9:15am so we scheduled him and a well check for the dog that had been previously spayed. In the meantime, I went home to do a few file transfers to my new laptop and then headed back out. We had two male dogs, one female dog and three female cats scheduled for 'the works'. One of the appointments was canceled last minute. Another showed up at the wrong location and was supposed to go to the right one but I waited forty-five minutes and she never showed. We did not get everyone to keep their appointments but six pets received 'the works; and one more received needed services so I am still very grateful. I also had an opportunity to have lunch with one of my oldest and dearest friends so that made the day even better! "One by one we get them done, because the only way to combat pet overpopulation and euthanasia in our shelters is to spay and neuter"... Waters from Niagara Bottling Company, fuel gift cards, small bags of dog food, wet cat food, wet kitten food, 17 pound bag of cat food from the Star Milling Company, 20 pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, Inaba Twins for dogs, Inaba Churus for dogs, Inaba Churu Pops, chicken jerky treats, small collar, small leash, medium collar and leash set, kabob chew sticks, large stainless pet jacket and plush squeaky dog toys were shared.

Tuesday's Treasures 3-7-2023

Most of my morning was spent driving around without actually seeing anyone with pets. My first stop was a homeless encampment by Mission and Crestmore. I was told they needed dog food but this is the second time I have been there and the person with the dog was not. Even the other people who are normally there were not. There was one dog but he was loose and I left pretty quickly so he did not follow me by the busy street. When I left that location I drove to the downtown Salvation Army. I saw someone with a dog but it was not the person I was looking for so I kept driving. I drove through Fairmount Park and then to a street where there is a river bottom outlet. I had no luck at either place so I went back to the Salvation Army. The dog that was there was one we provided 'the works' for awhile back. He got so big; I nearly did not recognize him. After a visit and distributing supplies, I headed to the clinic where I was meeting someone for his puppy's second set of vaccinations. While in route, I made a call to someone who I thought might be at Ryan Bonominio Park. She was there with her dog and the park was on my way so I stopped there next. After a visit and distributing supplies, I went to the clinic. I gave financial approval for the services that needed done, visited with the dog, distributed supplies and then went to run a person errand. I got home before lunch which gave me time to take my dog on his thirty-minute walk, eat, work on social media and then start setting up my new laptop. My old laptop is 8 years old and is not staying connected to the internet. This new laptop is nothing fancy but I am having to reconfigure everything and try to learn how to do all of the things I know how to do easily on my old laptop. I am working on this in between everything else I have going on so it may take a few days but I will get it done... Waters from Niagara Bottling Company, hand and toe warmers, small bags of dog food, Inaba Twins for dogs, Inaba tuna fillets, Inaba Churus for dogs, Inaba Churu Pops, wet dog food, wet puppy food, chicken jerky treats, LED collar lights, Max and Neo dog collars, kabob chew sticks, bully sticks, large stainless steel pet dish, pet jacket and plush squeaky dog toys were shared.

Monday On The Move 3-6-2023

When I left home, I drove to Massachusetts Avenue on the Eastside. I was there for nearly forty-five minutes but nobody brought their pets out of the kennels. However, there were a few pets sitting with their companions in front of their tents. I visited with them and distributed needed supplies. From there I drove through Hunter Park, Fairmount Park, the old Pine Center and Ryan Bonominio Park. Unfortunately, I did not come across anyone with their pets. I was hoping to have a more productive morning but because that was not possible I was able to bring baked goods to a business that just made a donation to us. When I left there, I stopped at our PO Box and then went home to take my dog for his walk. It was a little chilly at first but it is so nice to be out in the sunshine again... Waters from Niagara Bottling Company, hand warmers, small bags of dog food, Inaba Twins for dogs, Inaba tuna fillets, wet dog food, chicken jerky treats, kabob chew sticks, bully sticks and Inaba Churus for dogs were shared.

Sunday On The Streets 3-5-2023

Yesterday, I took the day off. My sister flew in from Northern California, late Friday afternoon. My daughter, my sister and I drove to Orange County to attend my daughter-in-law's baby shower. It was a held at a very nice restaurant and we all had a wonderful time. Because I was not around to go to a Jurupa Valley river bottom location I normally get to on Saturdays, I had to change the meeting day to this morning. At 7:30am, I went to our storage units to drop a few things off, pick up waters and grab pet supplies. I went home from there so I could unload some of what I picked up and restock for today's travels. I met with the three dogs and companions; I could not get to yesterday. At the end of the visit, they left with needed supplies and drove somewhere there was a large dog in need of food. Even though I was asked to meet at this next location, there was nobody there when I arrived. There was another dog there but no people so I returned to my vehicle and took a drive through Fairmount Park. I spotted a van that I knew was occupied by a dog and his companion so I pulled in next to them and parked. When we were done, I drove out to the Galleria to return something to Macy's, stopped to pick up a few groceries and returned home. Was going to take my dog for a walk but it was drizzling out so I decided we will have to wait until tomorrow... Waters from Niagara Bottling Company, hand warmers, small bags of puppy food, Inaba Twins for dogs, Inaba tuna fillets, wet dog food, chicken jerky treats, kabob chew sticks, bully sticks, Inaba Churus for dogs, wet puppy food, 3-20 pound bags of dog food from the Star Milling Company and a pet jacket were shared.

Friday's Furry Friends 3-3-23

I drove to the Eastside this morning and parked off Massachusetts in the Path of Life Ministries parking lot. I visited with and distributed supplies for five dogs. Three of them sleep in the kennels at night and the other two sleep in tents with their companions. When I left that location, I went to take care of a personal errand, stopped at our PO Box and headed home. My daughter has been staying with me for a couple of days, while her apartment is getting ready and my sister is flying in from up North for the week-end. The three of us will attend a baby shower tomorrow for my granddaughter who is expected to arrive near the end of the month. The only streets I will be on tomorrow are those taking me to this event. I am hoping to be back out on Sunday but it all depends on what is happening with family. I have been committed to my work but extreme weather, family or illness are sometimes reasons I have to take a short break. However, even when I am not physically on the streets, I am usually answering calls, texts and emails so there is rarely a time I am entirely 'work free'. Thankfully, I don't mind... Waters from Niagara Bottling Company, hand and toe warmers, doggie waste bags with flashlight leash clip, small bags of dog food, Inaba Twins for dogs, wet dog food, chicken jerky treats, kabob chew sticks, bully sticks, Inaba Churus for dogs, large stainless steel pet dish, medium Max and Neo dog collar, dog bed, small bag of puppy food, wet puppy food, plush dog toy and a pet jacket were shared.

Thursday's Treasures 3-2-2023

Because we did not put any pets recuperating from spay/neuter surgery in a motel room last night, I did not have to go there this morning. I did make arrangements to meet some people at one of the river bottom outlets. On my way, I stopped at the Riverside County Department of Animal Services to drop off spay/neuter/rabies certificates in order to get a few dogs licensed. When I arrived at the river bottom outlet, I met with three dogs and their companions to distribute needed supplies. I could not contact everyone down there due to the weather. They use solar to charge their phones so most of their phones were dead. I am sure I will hear from some of them, once they are able to charge again. When I left that location, I called someone and agreed to meet on Tequesquite Avenue near Ryan Bonominio Park. He showed up with the three dogs he is caring for and I gave them needed supplies. After leaving that location I drove to our PO Box where I picked up a couple of donation packages and went home for a few minutes, before heading out to a personal appointment at 11am... Waters from Niagara Bottling Company, tie out cable with trolly run, hand and toe warmers, beanies, body wipes, pet caps, doggie waste bags with flashlight leash clip, small bag of dog food, 3-20-pound bags of dog food from the Star Milling Company, Inaba tuna fillets, Inaba Twins for dogs, wet dog food, chicken jerky treats, kabob chew sticks, bully sticks, collapsible pet dish, Max and Neo large, dog collar and Inaba Churus for dogs were shared.

#1897 Gets 'The Works' 3-1-2023

I had a long list of people needing their pets spayed and neutered but our latest weather conditions literally put a 'damper' on that. Most of the people who asked for help were unreachable by text/phone call as their phones were not charged. In addition, I was unable to find many of them. When people are 'tucked away' trying to stay as warm and dry as possible, communication often becomes impossible. We did not have any pets scheduled for our first two appointments but we did have a possible five out of six for the second location. However, early this morning I received text messages that one of the companions ran out of gas on his way from Hemet. One of the companions had her cat in carrier and it was loaded in a vehicle. Her boyfriend's dog knocked the crate off of the seat and the cat ran off. She will be able to catch it again but it wasn't happening this morning. The other possible appointments were for a male and female cat but their companion was unable to get transportation. This was not the way I wanted to begin a new Month but one is still better than none and there is now one more female that will not be adding to pet overpopulation in the homeless community or our community at large. "One by one we get them done, because the only way to combat pet overpopulation and euthanasia in our shelters is to spay and neuter"... Inaba Churu Pops for cats were shared.
