Tuesday's Treasures 9-16-2025

My first stop of the day was in Roubidoux where I visited a couple of dogs and provided supplies. From there I drove over to Fairmount Park where I visited with and provided supplies for three dogs. When I left that location, I drove out to our PO Box to pick up a prescription from Kaiser and then I stopped to pick up something to bring to my granddaughter tomorrow. We have six dogs scheduled for 'the works' tomorrow. Five of those are referrals from Feeding Perris Strays. Once I get them checked in and get my dog situated, I plan to spend a couple of hours with my granddaughter. We usually only get to visit once a month so those visits mean everything to me. She is a great stress reliever and being with her brings me so much joy. When the visit is over, I get back to work on making sure everything went well with the spay/neuter surgeries and motel check ins so it is nice to have such a heart filled break in between... Bottled waters, toilet tissue, large dog collar, xl dog collar, three slip leads, large stainless steel pet dish, chicken jerky treats, 20-pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, Dashi meal toppers, Inaba meal toppers, buffalo tendons and bully slices were shared.

Monday On The Move 9-15-2025

My first stop was on the Eastside by the Path of Life Community Shelter kennels. I visited with three dogs that have companions who stay in the shelter. I also gave treats and chew sticks to a stray that has been hanging around there for the past few weeks. She is very friendly but when I try to scan her she bolts. I put in a call to Animal Services, last Friday, but nobody came out so I called again today. She is very thin and she keep darting into the street. I am worried about her getting run over. She is a Malinois so I don't know what her chances will be in the shelter but I do know they are not great where she is now. When I was done with the first four, I drove up the street and visited two more. One of the dog's had injured either his paw or his leg. I shared the number of Feeding Pets Of The Homeless, just incase they needed it. From there, I dropped off some goodies for Ralph Torres and his wife. Ralph is the person who volunteers his time to keep our website going and I am so appreciative of him. My net stop was across town at our storage units to pick up pet food and waters, before making one final stop at our PO Box. I was hoping the donation from Max and Neo Dog Gear would be there but it wasn't yet. I will keep checking... Bottled waters, collapsible pet dish with leash clip, large stainless steel pet dish, chicken jerky treats, wet puppy food, 20-pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, buffalo tendons, kabob chew sticks and bully slices were shared.

Sunday On The Streets 9-14-2025

Before I left the house, this morning, I baked some sugar free banana chocolate chip breads and texted the person who is fostering 'Tink'. I thought I was going to meet some people at a river bottom outlet by the Fed-Ex on Holly Street, in Jurupa Valley, but nobody called/texted to confirm so I asked if I might visit 'Tink' on my way to Kaiser. The answer was yes so I went there first. I brought some of my homemade pumpkin bread with cream cheese flavored chips and white chips as well as a few things for the dog. When we were done, I headed to Kaiser for a flu vaccination. As I was pulling into the parking lot, I received a call asking me if I was still going to meet with people by the Fed-Ex facility. I said I had not planned to, because nobody confirmed but that I would when I was done at Kaiser. They had a table set up by the door so it only took about five minutes for me to get the vaccination and be on my way. I called to tell the group waiting that I was approximately thirty minutes away. They said they would wait so I drove out there. By the time our visit was over, it was time for me to get back home. I needed to give my senior dog a potty break and have lunch before starting the work that had to be done at my desk and ice my arm so it didn't get as sore from the vaccination... Bottled waters, Benadryl caplets, chicken jerky treats, wet dog food, Inaba chicken stew, Inaba meal toppers, 6 pound bag of Bil Jac senior for small dogs, 2-20-pound bags of dog food from the Star Milling Company, large peanut butter dog biscuits, buffalo tendons, kabob chew sticks, bully sticks and plush squeaky were shared.

Saturday's Smiles 9-13-2025

Once a month, a group goes to Fairmount Park with food, clothing and other supplies for those in need. Many of the homeless can be found there and often times they bring their pets so I decided to try and make it down there when that is happening. When I went this morning, I saw a few people I knew that did not have their pets with them but others did. I visited with them, provided treats, chew sticks and a few supplies. There was one other person there with a pet but I had not met them before and did not have time to introduce myself today. When I left the park, I drove out to our (empty) PO Box and then went home. In addition to our social media, emails, texts and phone calls, I needed to finalize the list for pets getting 'the works' this Wednesday. Feeding Perris Strays asked for five of those appointments for some of the homeless with pets that they come across and the other was given to someone who called from Fontana. At this point in time, we have no available appointments, until the first week in October. I don't like scheduling too far ahead, because many people forget so I will most likely wait and have people calling for October starting the 21st of this month. That also gives us more time to get donations to help pay for the spay/neuter services and/or the motel costs. Even when the Healthy Pet Zone Fund is used to cover the fees at the clinic,(which is an enormous help), we still cover the motel fees. What they are doing for us, will just make it possible to keep going and I am so grateful for that! Bottled waters, slip lead, chicken jerky treats, wet dog food, wet puppy food, 20-pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, Inaba meal toppers, bully slices, buffalo tendons, kabob chew sticks and bully sticks were shared.

Friday's Furry Friends 9-12-2025

I had a zoom meeting, this morning, but I still had time to go to the Eastside first so I drove to the Path of Life Community Shelter kennels. I visited with six pets and provided a few supplies. When we were done, I ran an errand and then went home to sign in to the meeting. I spent the rest of the day doing work at my desk and hanging out with my dog... Bottled waters, chicken jerky treats, wet dog food, Inaba meal toppers bully slices, buffalo tendons, kabob chew sticks and bully sticks were shared.

#2,375, 76 & #2,377 Get 'The Works & Visit with 'Tink' 9-10-2025

Today started our first day of doing six weekly spay/neuter appointments at the Riverside County Animal Services spay/neuter clinic. We had three female dogs and three male dogs scheduled. Thanks to the Healthy Pet Zone Fund, we were only going to have to cover the cost of one of those pets but would still give each companion ARCO fuel cards, supplies and a one or two night motel stay... I was able to confirm all but one of the appointments. I thought about canceling it but there was already a mix up, a couple of weeks ago, and I promised the companion he could have an appointment today. Unfortunately, he was a no show as was another gentleman who was supposed to be bringing two dogs. I was really frustrated with that person, because of all of the work that went into getting him the appointments. A very nice woman was driving all the way out to his encampment in Perris, just to be sure we got everything set up. He had a car so we thought it was going to work out. He has quite a few dogs and we just wanted to get things started. He tried to change the dogs around last night but the appointments were already set. He was asked to just bring the two we agreed on, especially since the female is most likely in heat. When he wasn't in the parking lot around 7:30am, I called him. He made up some excuse as to why he wasn't coming. I contacted the woman who has been trying to help him and told her that I will only work with him now if someone else picks up dogs the night before and gets them to the appointments. I had people scheduled for next week who would have like to come today, had the opportunity been there in time. When all was said and done we did have two male dogs and one female dog show up. They were checked in a little before 8am. I made a quick trip to the grocery store, went home for a bit and then went back out to our storage units to meet Seth Cox who was delivering our monthly donation from our friends at the Star Milling Company. We are so grateful for the donation and for the volunteering Seth (and sometimes Cindy) continue to do for us….After we unloaded the delivery, I drove to visit 'Tink' and drop off a few things for her. "One by one we get them done, because the only way to combat pet overpopulation and euthanasia in our shelters is to spay and neuter." Bottled waters, ARCO fuel cards, orthopedic pet bed, sleeping bag, 36 oz. bag of chicken jerky treats, k9 hip and joint chews, Royal Canin mother and baby cat wet food, 3-20 pound bags of dog food from the Star Milling Company, 4-17pound bags of cat food from the Star Milling Company, buffalo tendon, peanut butter knot chew, wet dog food, Inaba meal toppers and plush squeaky dog toys were shared.

Tuesday's Treasures 9-09-2025

Yesterday, I received a couple of large boxes that contain a variety of items for the pets. I don't have room at my house for them so I made plans to drop them off at our storage units and a friend is supposed to meet me on Sunday to unpack everything. On my way to drop off the boxes, I stopped at the Riverside County Department of Animal Services to drop off something for my daughter. I have to admit that it was a relief not having to go check on those three dogs anymore. My heart goes out to all of the impounded animals but I don't feel the responsibility to them that I felt towards the dogs I knew. After I left there, I headed to storage and then to Fairmount Park. I was supposed to meet someone there but I could not find him. I did see people I knew so I spent time with them and then drove to another area of the park for some others. While I was doing that, the gentleman I was supposed to meet showed up. During my time at the park, I visited with and provided supplies for seven pets. I went to our PO Box from there and was very happy to find a donation check as well as a donation of k9 hip and joint chews. As I was leaving the post office, I received text messages about 'Tink'. She went to the vet today. I am not sure what course of action will be taken yet but she is on 'bed rest' and new meds for now. I have hip and joint chews and an orthopedic bed for her which I will drop off tomorrow. I do believe that there will be a second opinion regarding surgery for her. As soon as I know more I will share... Bottled waters, chicken jerky treats, k9 hip and joint chews, 2 medium dog collars, 8 pound bag of senior dog food, 3-20 pound bags of dog food from the Star Milling Company, wet dog food, Inaba meal topers, kabob chew sticks, buffalo tendons, bully slices and bully sticks were shared.

Monday On The Move 9-08-2025

I did some early morning baking again and then headed over to the Eastside. I spent most of my morning at four different locations there. The first was at the Path of Life Community Shelter. I met a couple with a male pitbull that I had not met on any of my previous visits. The dog needs neutered so I am hoping we can make that happen. In the meantime, I gave him a few things before heading down the street. I visited a dog that was on Kansas with his companions and I did the same for a couple more on the other side of Massachusetts. I made one last visit off of Victoria and University where I provided that dog with supplies. My final stop was at our PO Box where I picked up two very large boxes that were sent by someone who had been collecting a variety of items for us. I am not sure when I will get to go through the boxes and check it all out but I wanted to so the pick-up in order to drop the boxes at our storage units... Bottled waters, high calorie nutritional gel, chicken jerky treats, wet dog food, wet puppy food, Inaba meal toppers, buffalo tendons, kabob chew sticks, bully slices, Inaba tuna fillets, Inaba chicken fillets, squeaky Kong balls and plush squeaky dog toy were shared.

Sunday On The Streets 9-07-2025

I did some early morning baking and considered taking the day off. I haven't done that since sometime in June but I just don't like sitting around the house with no plans so I went out for a couple of hours. My first stop was in Rubidoux. I visited two dogs, provided supplies and gave their companion something I had printed for her. It was a photo of a dog that belonged to her granddaughter but wound up in the shelter when the young woman was incarcerated. I was able to get Mary S. Robert's Pet Adoption Center to pull him and now he is there. The photo I printed was from when they took him to LA and he was on Channel4 news as the 'pet of the week'. She loved the photo and I was happy to do that for her. From there, I drove over to visit a family that is housed. I knew them when they were homeless and spent many month at the Jurupa Valley Motel6. I always visited their two dogs but haven't since they moved indoors. I don't know exactly how long it has been but I was happy to see that they did not forget me and got excited for the visit. My last stop was for 'Tink'. I used to visit her family every Sunday so it seemed perfect to visit her at her foster's home today. When I pulled up, she was out front with her foster mom and she had a big smile on her face. She was smiling the entire time I was there and that was so nice to see. I will see her again when an orthopedic bed I ordered for her comes in and possibly when she goes for a vet visit. I will provide updates as I receive them... Bottled waters, homemade baked goods, flavored drink packets, large martingale dog collar, chicken jerky treats, 2-20-pound bags of dog food from the Star Milling Company, wet dog food, Inaba meal toppers, Dashi meal toppers, bully sticks, buffalo tendons, peanut butter knot chew, cheese cracker dog treats, squeaky Kong balls and plush squeaky dog toys were shared.

Saturday's Smiles 9-06-2025

I started my morning at the Riverside County Department of Animal Services. Over the past month, four pets we have provided services for were impounded there. Three of those were because their companions went to jail and one because the dog had run off. None of the people were in a position to get these dogs back so I wanted to do whatever I could to get them out. Two of those dogs went to the Mary S. Robert's Adoption Center. One is under Shelter Street Dog's care with a foster and the fourth left the shelter this morning! Labradors and Friends rescued him and Lina Leslie was there to get him out. One of the dog's that went to MSRPAC I have known since he was two month old and he is eight and a half so he holds a special place in my heart. The dog that was picked up today I have known for about nine years. It was important to me to be there for his 'exit' so that's what I did. It felt so good to have my sad tears turn to happy ones last night and this morning, when the third and fourth dogs were finally safe. I am going to miss them but grateful I won't be visiting them in the shelter. I know they all have a bright future thanks to so many caring people! After I left the shelter, I drove out to Colton to meet with a couple and their four dogs. We provided 'the works' for all of them as well as many kittens and cats that wandered into their encampment in the river bottom. They had a fifth dog with them today. I had never met her. Something happened to her companion and this couple is now caring for her. I get so upset when people complain about the homeless with pets. Sure, there are some who abuse or neglect their pets but that happens everywhere. Some people don't spay and neuter because they don't know any better or don't know how to get help and we try to change that. Some just want to breed but then that is not a problem that is isolated to the homeless community. Mostly what I see is people doing their best to care of animals nobody else wants and I will continue offering assistance so they can do that... From the stop in Colton, I got on the freeway and went to Elliotts for Pets to get a couple of things to give to the person fostering 'Tink' and then I went to storage to pick up pet food and waters. I went home from there... Bottled waters, protein shakes, flavored drink packets, chicken jerky treats, 2-20-pound bags of dog food from the Star Milling Company, 17-pound bag od cat food from the Star Milling Company, wet dog food, wet cat food, Inaba meal toppers, Inaba Churus, Inaba Juicy Bites, bully sticks and buffalo tendons were shared.

Friday's Furry Friends 9-05-2025

My first stop of the day was outside the Path of Life Community Shelter. I parked on Massachusetts and walked over to the kennel area. There were a total of nine puppies and dogs there. I visited with seven of them and provided a few supplies. When we were done, I drove up the street to visit with two other dogs and their companion. We visited and I provided supplies. From there I drove back to my house to give my dog a potty break and then headed to Riverside County Department of Animal Services to visit with the two dogs I have been going to check on. One of them got an extension but only has until 3pm on Sunday. I have rescue plans in place for both dogs but nothing was a sure thing. That all fell into place late this afternoon! Tink exited the shelter a little before 4pm and Mickey will exit tomorrow morning. Both dogs going to great rescues that will help them find their people! I made a separate post about them on so I am not going to repeat it all here... Bottled waters, collapsible pet dish with leash clip, chicken jerky treats, 20-pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, wet dog food, wet puppy food, Inaba meal toppers, kabob chew sticks, buffalo tendons, bully sticks and kong squeaky balls were shared.

Thursday's Treasures 9-04-2025

I had two things on my to-do list today. The first was to go to the Jurupa Valley Motel6 and check on the six pets that received 'the works' yesterday. I visited each of the pets and provided a few supplies. When I left the motel, I drove to our PO Box to pick up a donation someone sent from Chewy. By the time I did that, Riverside County Department of Animal Services was open and went to visit with 'Mickey' and 'Tink'. My daughter and another staff member took them out of the kennel, they are now sharing, and we hung out on the grass for a bit. Both dogs were happy to be outside, on the grass and getting some much needed attention. My friend Tracy Bowen went there later to see if she could foster 'Tink' but because the dog is considered 'medical', due to the CCL (Cranial Cruciate Ligament), they would not let her. She was able to get her life extended to Sunday so we have a couple more days to get her out of there. A rescue I contacted sent someone to meet 'Mickey' and I am hoping that turns into a pull but for now he is there keeping her company. I know she finds comfort in him being there so him being pulled without her will be bittersweet. I will still be grateful regardless. I have had so many sleepless nights, since July when tragedy hit their family and it has continued to worsen with time. I look forward to some type of happy ending. 'Comet' got pulled so I am not giving up hope for these two... Bottled waters, protein shakes, chicken jerky treats, 20-pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, kabob chew sticks and buffalo tendons were shared.

#2,369,70,71,72,73 and #2,374 Get 'The Works' 9-03-2025

We have been offering seven spay/neuter appointments each week and they have been divided between two places. Starting next Wednesday, we will only be offering six spay/neuter appointments each week but they will all be done in one place. That may change, in time, depending on our needs, finances and availability at the second clinic but this is what we will be doing for now. Thanks to Riverside County Department of Animal Services we will have six available appointments each week and will be able to use the Healthy Pet Zone Fund for any of the pets that reside in the allowed zip codes. This will ease some of the financial burdens of providing 'the works' and we are so grateful to Director Mary Martin and her staff for giving us this opportunity... As far as today goes, we had seven pets scheduled' for 'the works'. We had Three female dogs, three male dogs and a female cat. Our first three appointments were at the Riverside County Department of Animal Services spay/neuter clinic. One companion had two male dogs and another had one female dog. All arrived on time and were checked in by 7:45am. At that time, I made a brief trip home and then went back out to the Mary S. Robert's spay/neuter clinic. One person had two female dogs scheduled. One had a male dog and another had a female cat. The people with the dogs showed up but we were not so lucky with the cat. The person did not take my advice and put her in a carrier the night before, because she didn't want the cat crying all night, but then could not get her this morning. When all was said and done, we provided 'the works' for three female dogs and three male dogs so it was still a good day! When I ;eft the second clinic, I went back to the Riverside County Department of Animal Services so I could check on the three dogs I have been trying to get out of impound. One of them was pulled by Mary S. Robert's but the other two were still there. I will keep trying... "One by one we get them done, because the only way to combat pet overpopulation and euthanasia in our shelters is to spay and neuter." Bottled waters, ARCO fuel cards, large leash, collapsible pet dish with leash clip, 20-pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, 2-3.5 pound bags of Pedigree for small dogs, 3.5 pound bag of Pedigree puppy food, wet puppy food, 6 pound bag of Bil Jac senior for small dogs, Inaba meal toppers, wet dog food and plush squeaky toys were shared.

Tuesday's Treasures 9-02-2025

I would like to start by saying that I am alive and well. I have received two calls this week from people on the streets who were told I was dead. Not sure how that rumor got started but it ends here... Now for today... I made plans to go to the shelter to check on the three impounded dogs that once lived with a homeless family. They are not doing well in the shelter. I have been trying to visit every couple of days and doing what I can to find rescue. One of dog's is already on the euthanasia list for the end of the week so I am having a really tough time with all of it. Before going to the shelter, I was supposed to meet a family out in Colton. However, I still could not reach them, even when I was on my way there, so I had a change in plans. I messaged them that I would not be meeting today and I drove through Fairmount Park and over to the Salvation Army. I did not see anyone with pets but when I drove back through the park I did. I stopped for that pet and his companion. While doing so, I received a call from Colton with apologies for oversleeping and we made tentative plans to meet this week-end. When I left the park, I went looking for someone in Rubidoux but was unable to locate him so I drove straight to Riverside County Animal Services. While I was waiting for the doors to open, someone with a large german shepherd called my name. I had not seen them in well over a year. They were in need of dog food and were going to ask the shelter for some but I intercepted and took care of it. When we were done, I went in the shelter and visited the dogs. There were two in one kennel and one in another. I asked if they would put one of the two in with the dog that was alone. I was hoping it might improve her demeanor. It seemed to help but I will check back tomorrow to find out how its going and to see if there is anything else I can do to help them. Even if it is just being walked around, they need out of the kennels for a bit... Bottled waters, large bag of recyclables, flavored drink packets, chicken jerky treats, 2-20-pound bags of dog food from the Star Milling Company, Inaba meal toppers, wet dog food, buffalo tendons and bully sticks were shared.

Monday On The Move 9-01-2025

I had an 8am zoom meeting, this morning, which ended around 9am. When it was over, I went to CircleK to get fuel, before starting today's travels. When I was leaving there, I saw a woman in a van. Her dog looked vaguely familiar but I did not have time to stop. I decided I would go back by there later, if I had time. My first stop was by the Fed-Ex trucking facility off of Holly Street. A couple of people came up from the river bottom and brought four pets with them. We visited, I provided supplies and then drove through Fairmount Park. I could not find who I was looking for there so I continued on to Rubidoux. I went to visit a couple of dogs and to speak to their companion about a dog named 'Chum Chum'. The dog once belonged to her granddaughter but wound up in the shelter when the woman was incarcerated. I was able to get the Mary S. Robert's Pet Adoption Center to pull him out of the shelter, when he began declining after his three month stay there. He happened to be featured as a 'pet of the week' on Channel4 news and I wanted to share a short video and photos with the grandmother. So much of this family have lived on the streets and most have had pets we have provided services for. I will always do my best to help, if the pet's circumstances change and they need rescued or adopted. I'm actually doing that for three other dogs that have been impounded. I don't run into this often but when it happens, I can't turn my back on them. I am usually successfully but even if I am not I know I did everything I could. When I left the second stop, I drove back to the CircleK where I had seen the woman with her dog. She was still there and it turned out she has two dogs. We met a long time ago when she was staying near the Speedway station off of Jurupa and VanBuren. I only knew one dog back then and now she has two, Both need spayed and neutered. I hope to facilitate that. After that, I made one quick stop to get produce for my tortoise and then I went back home... Bottled waters, flavored drink packets, body wipes, toilet tissue, chicken jerky treats, 2-20-pound bags of dog food from the Star Milling Company, 17-pound bag of cat food from the Star Milling Company, Inaba Twins, Inaba meal toppers, Dashi meal toppers, wet cat food, wet dog food, buffalo tendons, bully slices and bully sticks were shared.
