Friday's Furry Friends 10-31-2025

This morning was difficult. I went to the Path of Life Community Shelter, on the Eastside, as I usually do on Fridays but it was the first time going since 'Harley' had to be euthanized. Everyone was out with their dogs and her companion was sitting there alone thinking about when he went in to say good-bye to his dog yesterday. He couldn't get the image of how she looked out of his mind and I knew there was nothing I could say to make things any better. The only thing I could do was pay the bill for her cremation. He still had to pick her up and take her to the vet that would be sending her out for that. In the mean time, I visited with six pets and provided supplies before driving to University and Victoria and doing the same for one more. When I left that location, I drove out to our storage units to pick up more pet food and waters. My final stop was our PO Box. As soon as I got home, I paid the bill for Harley. When her ashes and paw print are ready, I will pick them up and take them to her companion... Bottled waters, medium collar and leash set, 17lb. bag of cat food from the Star Milling Company, wet cat food, wet dog food, simply cesar chicken, Inaba meal toppers, chicken jerky treats, kabob chew sticks, buffalo tendons, bully slices and bully stick were shared.

Thursday's Treasures 10-30-2025

I was looking over the month of October and saw that we provided 'the works' for 17 dogs and 1 cat. Not nearly as many as we could have gotten done but still a good thing. There were 14 female dogs, 3 male dogs and 1 male cat. Riverside County Department of Animal Services Healthy Pet Zone Fund paid for all but one of those so that helped immensely. We just covered motel costs. Not sure what we would be doing without their assistance so I feel very fortunate to have it... When I turned on my phone this morning, there was a very distressing message from the person who takes care of the kennel at the Path of Life Community Shelter. He helped drive a couple of dogs to their appointments yesterday and was called at 2am regarding one of them. The dog had three seizures her companion was very worried. As soon as I saw the message, I called the dog's companion. I told him I would be at the motel at 9am and check on her. He said she had been sleeping for the past four hours which is normally a good sign but she was not being responsive to him. She opened her eyes but that was about it. I told him she needed to go back to the clinic to get looked at. Someone staying in the Path of Life Community Shelter, who actually drove two people and their pets yesterday, was going to take him. I could not wait around but did leave a fuel card for her. Before I left the motel, I checked on three of the other dog's that got 'the works'. All three were doing great. There was one more that I was supposed to check on but her companion texted me to tell me someone offered to take her to breakfast. I asked her to wait until I came to the room and said I would go to hers first but she just went out anyway and I never got to see the dog. She is in a room for two nights and wouldn't even give me the courtesy of being there like I asked when the dog showed up for her appointment. Her dog was the only one in heat too. I had not met them, prior to yesterday, and I don't plan to see them anytime in the future after this…..Around 11:30am, I drove over to the Riverside County Department of Animal Services. They were treating the dog that had seizures last night and was pretty lethargic this morning. Her companion was waiting in the lobby and I asked him to have them call me if there were updates. As of 3:30pm I was told that if they cannot get her glucose levels up, she will have to be euthanized. If that happens, we will cover the cost to have her cremated but still hoping for the best... Bottled waters, ARCO fuel card, medium collar and leash set, chicken jerky treats, buffalo tendons, bully slices and Inaba juicy bites were shared.

#2,402 to #2,406 Get 'The Works' and 'Bear' 10-29-2025

October had five Wednesdays which gave us an opportunity to spay/neuter 30 pets. Unfortunately, we had many no shows but still managed to get 18 done. We had six pets scheduled for 'the works' today. There were four female dogs and two male dogs. I was able to confirm five of the appointments but could not reach the sixth. I thought about removing his dog from the schedule but he called multiple times saying he had a mini bull dog in heat and did not want her to get pregnant. I guess I should have just canceled his appointment, because he was a no show. Thankfully, five dogs did make it and all were on time due to a couple of people who drove them. We had three females and two males. All services were covered by the Riverside County Department of Animal Services Healthy Pet Zone Fund which means we just have to cover the cost for their motel rooms. I did go out and run an errand, later in the morning and happened to see a gentleman with a dog in front of the Walgreen's on Magnolia and Central. I pulled in the parking lot to talk to the companion and realized it was someone I had recently met in the downtown area. A store clerk came out and told them they had to leave but I had enough time to give the dog some chew sticks and treats. "One by one we get them done, because the only way to combat pet overpopulation and euthanasia in our shelters is to spay and neuter." Bottled waters, ARCO fuel cards, Subway gift card, chicken jerky treats, buffalo tendon, bully slice, medium stainless steel pet dish, 5-20 pound bags of dog food from the Star Milling Company, simply cesar chicken, wet dog food and Inaba meal toppers were shared.

Tuesday's Treasure's 10-28-2025

My dog had a rough night so I got very little sleep. To top things off, it was very windy today which caused havoc on my allergies. I wanted to stay home but I had agreed to meet some people so I ventured out anyway. My first stop was in Colton. I was supposed to meet two people and their pets but only one showed. From there, I made a stop for three dogs in Rubidoux and then for another in the parking lot of the Riverside County Department of Animal Services. When I was done at the last stop, I drove to the vet to see if I could get my dog's allergy meds but they were too busy to fill my prescription so I went home. What I wanted was along nap but I ate lunch and then worked from my desk instead. I have to get up very early tomorrow, for spay/neuter appointments, and afternoon naps always keep me from being able to fall asleep at night. Definitely looking forward to the end of this day!... Bottled waters, chicken jerky treats, 2-20lb.bags of dog food from the Star Milling Company, 17lb. bag of cat food from the Star Milling Company, wet cat food, simply cesar chicken, Inaba twins, Inaba churu bites, Inaba juicy bites, wet dog food, Inaba meal toppers, bully slices, bully sticks, buffalo tendons and plush squeaky toys were shared.

Monday On The Move 10-27-2025

We have six pets scheduled for 'the works' tomorrow. Four of those have companions who stay in one or more of the three shelters on the Eastside so I wanted to be sure and touch base this morning. It seems as if we have everything worked out for them. That just leaves two others. One of them has already confirmed and the other's phone is off. I am still trying to figure out if I should give him another day to get in touch or put another pet in the place of his. While I was parked on Massachusetts, I was able to visit with six pets and provide a few supplies. When I left that location, I drove across town to pick up more pet food and waters from our storage units. From there, I drove home to get things unloaded and reloaded for tomorrow's travels. After lunch, I spent the afternoon doing all of the usual 'desk work'... Bottled waters, chicken jerky treats, 20lb.bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, wet dog food, Inaba meal toppers, kabob chew sticks, bully slices and buffalo tendons were shared.

Sunday On The Streets 10-26-2025

I thought I was going to meet some people, and their pets, in Colton this morning but nobody ever got back to me to confirm. We had not even agreed on a place to meet so I wasn't going to drive all the way out there trying to figure out if they were coming so I decided to stop by Fairmount Park. As I was driving around, I noticed a gentleman walking a dog I had been concerned about so I pulled into the nearest parking lot. While there I visited with, and provided supplies for, four people with dogs. There were others but I did not want to walk back across the soaking wet grass so I will catch them another time. From there, I drove around to the front near the train. I noticed a familiar vehicle and I had something the companion needed. I woke them up and provided them with a few supplies as well. During our visit, a woman walked over with two dogs. Each of them just four months old. One a very small dog and one that will be a large dog. She asked me for food and I explained that I only provide food to spayed/neutered pets. She go upset and said "So there are conditions to you giving help with food?!". I said yes and tried to tell her why and that I would be happy to help her with her dogs. She said she planned on breeding so they each had a litter. I told her that is exactly the reason I do not provide food, unless a pet is spayed/neutered. I tried talking to her about pet overpopulation but she was clearly angry and yelling something as she was walking away. So frustrating to know that someone living with two puppies, in a park, is not willing to accept help and do the responsible thing. After that, I was ready to leave when someone arrived with a dog. I had not seen them in quite some time so I stayed long enough for a visit. I went home soon after... Bottled waters, large leash, puppy training pads, chicken jerky treats, 3.5lb. Pedigree for small dogs, 2-20lb.bags of dog food from the Star Milling Company, simply cesar chicken, wet dog food, Inaba meal toppers, kabob chew sticks, bully sticks and buffalo tendons were shared.

Saturday's Smiles 10-25-2025

I had not made plans to meet up with anyone today so I decided to drive back over to the Eastside and visit a family that is only available on weekends. I went last Sunday but the dog's companion was not there. I called, this morning, and when I found out they were all in their spot I made that my first stop. I also reached out to a couple I did not connect with yesterday. They have a couple of dogs and were hoping to meet yesterday. I got busy with all of the dogs at the Path of Life Community Shelter kennel and then didn't have time to track them down. I was able to do so, this morning so they were my second stop. I was planning to go to our storage units tomorrow but because I had time, I drove out there. I made a stop at Trader Joe's on my way. My final stop was our PO Box. It was empty and I headed home... Bottled waters, 2 large bags of recyclables, chicken jerky treats, 6 pound bag of Bil-Jac small breed senior dog food, 20lb.of dog food from the Star Milling Company, simply cesar chicken, wet dog food, wet puppy food, Inaba chicken fillets, Inaba meal toppers, Halloween pet toys, kabob chew sticks, bully sticks and buffalo tendons were shared.

Friday's Furry Friends 10-24-2025

I spent my time this morning, on the Eastside, parked on Massachusetts in front of the Path of Life Community Shelter. I visited with eleven dogs, provided a few supplies and spoke to five people about 'the works' for their pets. Hoping to get a few of them in on Wednesday, if transportation can be arranged. From there I drove out to our PO Box in Jurupa Valley to pick up a large donation of pet supplies that someone sent from Chewy. I had an 11am zoom meeting so I went directly home from there. After my meeting it was time for lunch and then the afternoon was spent editing photos, answering texts, phone calls, emails, taking care of our social media and scheduling spay/neuter appointments... Bottled waters, large leash, chicken jerky treats, 20lb.of dog food from the Star Milling Company, kabob chew sticks, bully slices and buffalo tendons were shared.

Thursday's Treasure's 10-23-2025

I went to the Jurupa Valley Motel6, this morning, to check on the four dogs that received 'the works' yesterday. In addition to doing that, I visited with a couple of dogs that spent the night there with their companion. As I was getting ready to leave, a cat came over to me. The cat was very friendly and let me pet it. It seemed to be hungry. I put out some food and asked a motel guest if they knew anything about the cat. I was told it has been there for about a month. Not sure if it was dumped or left there but it hangs around now. I put out some food and one of the guest's used my scanner to check for a chip. There was none. Pretty sure it is a male and he has worms. I left food with someone. I can't find a rescue but Jennifer Weitzel said she will take the cat in to get fixed. One of the motel guests is someone I know and she is going to put the cat in a trap to get that done. I really wish we were able to find the cat a home or rescue but this is the next best thing... Bottled waters, chicken jerky treats, wet cat food, Inaba Twins, 17lb. bag of cat food from the Star Milling Company, kabob chew sticks, Halloween dog toys, bully slices and buffalo tendons were shared.

#2,397,98,99 2,400 & #2,401 Get 'The Works' 10-22-2025

We had six pets confirmed for 'the works' today. Two of those were female cats. One of them had a litter about eight weeks ago so she was finally ready. The other, a one-year-old baby herself, has had two litters. Her companion was given the option of an appointment today or next week. She chose today and then, sadly, turned out to be the only no show. The other four pets were dogs. Three of them females and one male. The companion of one of the female's has changed her mind multiple times about spaying. She almost didn't go through with it this morning but thankfully she did. Three of the pets have companions who stay at the Path of Life Community Shelter. There are at least three or four other dogs belonging to people staying there that need 'the works' as well. I am hoping we can get started on them next Wednesday. "One by one we get them done, because the only way to combat pet overpopulation and euthanasia in our shelters is to spay and neuter." Bottled waters, ARCO fuel cards, Subway gift card, puppy training pads, small dog collar, 17lb. bag of cat food from the Star Milling. 4-pound bag of kitten food, wet kitten food, wet cat food, Inaba Twins, 20lb. Bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, wet dog food, simply cesar chicken, plush squeaky Halloween dog toys and buffalo tendon were shared.

Tuesday's Treasures 10-21-2025

I was not planning on doing my daily travels today, due to an appointment that I had scheduled for myself. I had no idea how long I would be there and I did not want to tell people I would meet them if I wasn't sure I would be able to. Even though I did not think I would visit any pets, I did stop for two of them and their companion, right after I got fuel this morning. They were in the parking lot as I was exiting and one of the dog's ran over and jumped on my vehicle. There was no way I wasn't going to stop for her after that. My appointment did run a long time but not as long as I thought it might so I got on the phone and tried to fill in the empty spay/neuter appointment slots for tomorrow. By 4pm, I had all six filled with three female dogs, one male dog and two female cats. Both of the cats have had litters and sadly the one year old has already had two. My hope now is that everyone makes it so their pets can get what they need... Chicken jerky treats and bully slices were shared.

Monday On The Move 10-20-2025

I made my usual trip to the Eastside, this morning, and parked on Massachusetts by the Path of Life Community Shelter kennel. I visited with five dogs there, provided a few supplies and discussed spaying/neutering with four of the companions. When I left that location, I was headed towards Rubidoux when I spotted a black lab mix dragging a leash down Market Street. I was actually talking to Annette Winkler when I spotted the dog and told her I needed to go so I could try and get hold of the dog. I circled the block and this time I noticed a man in one of those seats that disabled people use to get around but I could not tell if it was his dog. I put down my window and asked if the dog belonged to him and he said yes. I asked if the dog was already neutered and he said yes. I then pulled into the parking lot behind the CVS and walked over to meet the dog and speak to the dog's companion and another gentleman who was with him. The dog was very sweet and I provided his companion with food and supplies. I drove home from there so I could give my dog a break and then head back out to meet a friend for a long overdue lunch date... Bottled Waters, collapsible pet dish with leash clip, 20lb.bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, wet dog food, Inaba meal toppers, Inaba chicken fillets, jerky treats, crunchy cheese dog treats, chicken jerky treats, buffalo tendons and bully slices were shared.

Sunday On The Streets 10-19-2025

I had made plans to meet someone, at our storage units, with an Inaba donation and I was also going to meet Ilene Stein from Riverside Temple Beth El as well. When I texted the person I was scheduled to meet from Inaba she stated that there was a mix up in the days and could not make it today. I then emailed Ilene and asked if we could meet a different day. I hadn't planned anything else for today, because I wasn't sure how long it would take us to go through the donations so that left me with nothing to do. I wasn't going to just sit home so I started driving towards Fairmount Park. Most of the park was blocked off, due to the run going on, so I did not accomplish anything there. Next, I drove out to Hunter Hobby Park on the Eastside. I had received numerous messages about a missing woman and her dog believed to have been seen in that area. I drove all through the park and surrounding areas but did not see her or anyone else with a dog so I headed over to where 'Scamp' and 'Joey' stay with their companion. The dogs were there but he was not and his phone went straight to voicemail. I could not get in to visit them so I called a gentleman who sometimes works at the Budget Inn. He was working today and his dogs were there so that I where I went next. After our visit, I drove over to the Mary S. Robert's Pet Adoption Center. My daughter had the day off from her job at Animal Services but she was going to take a dog out for the day at the adoption center. She was considering taking out 'Comet' now known as 'Wyatt' and thought I might like to see him. I did. Unfortunately, the run kept her from being able to exit her downtown apartment. She wasn't sure how much longer it would be so I did not stick around. I did try to contact a few people with pets in Jurupa Valley but none of them had their phone on or charged so I was home by 11:30am., in time to get started on my laundry and 'desk work'... Bottled Waters, wet dog food, Inaba meal toppers, Inaba chicken broth, chicken, Inaba chicken fillets, jerky treats, crunchy cheese dog treats, kabob chew sticks and a Halloween 'treat find' pet mat were shared.

Saturday's Smiles 10-18-2025

Yesterday, I made arrangements to meet a group of people and their pets by the Fed-Ex trucking Facility on Holly Street. People who stay nearby in the river bottom have been meeting me there for a couple of years or so. I have never had an issues other than coming across dogs that have been dumped. When I arrived today, there were two dogs sitting where I usually pull over to park. A couple of guys stopped their truck and fed the dogs some burgers. I was told they have been there for awhile. I wasn't able to scan them so I called Animal Control, worried that they were dumped. As I was waiting in my vehicle, a woman pulled up and asked me if I called Animal Control. I told her I did as I was worried they had been dumped. She got very upset and said they belong to a homeless person and that 'they' take care of feeding the dogs. I said I did not know any homeless people they belonged to. Right after that she got nasty and said I was trespassing and that I needed to leave. I told her I was there to help a group of the homeless with pet food and supplies ad that I was waiting for them. She threatened to call the Sheriff's department and I told her to go ahead. She sat in her vehicle the entire time I was there. She was on her phone for most of it too but not sure who she actually called. I figured if the Sheriff's department came then I would apologize and leave but I wasn't letting this angry woman run me off. I have to admit that it made my visit with the dogs not as much fun as it usually is. There were a total of nine dogs but there were as well as someone with a goat. She had the goat since it was a baby and wanted to know if I could neuter him. Unfortunately, that is not a service we offer but the goat was interesting. He looked at me when I said his name which made me laugh. It felt good to laugh, after that woman stressed me out. From there I drove across town to our storage units. I picked up pet food and waters and then went home. I will be going back there tomorrow to meet someone who is bringing me donated items from Inaba and as well as Ilene Stein who has who has some food items for us from the Riverside Temple Beth El High Holiday Food Drive. Not sure if I will have time for daily travels so I will have to wait and see how my time goes... Bottled Waters, large leash, wet cat food, wet dog food, 17-pound bag of cat food from the Star Milling Company, 4-20 pound bags of dog food from the Star Milling Company, chicken jerky treats, buffalo tendons, chicken chew sticks and bully slices were shared.

Friday's Furry Friends 10-17-2025

I got up early this morning, baked a couple batches of cookies and dropped off a 'care package' for our webmaster and his wife. Then it was off to a busy morning, over on the Eastside, at the Path of Life Community Shelter kennel. I did not visit with all of the dogs that were there but was able to spend time with ten of them as well as provide a few supplies. When I was done there, I drove back home so I could pick up my senior dog and take him to the vet for a nail trim and anal gland expression. I was supposed to have someone come to the house to give him a bath and do those things, but she had to cancel on me twice. The vet doesn't do any type of grooming but the other two things were done. When we returned home, it was lunch time and then I got started with social media, emails, phone calls, texts and scheduling spay/neuter appointments for Wednesday. We went from 4 to 3 to 1 pet showing up over the past three weeks and I am hoping for a better turnout this week and the following week... Bottled Waters, large leash, 2 medium stainless steel pet dishes, collapsible pet dish with leash clip, 3.5 -pound bag of Pedigree for small dogs, Simply Cesar chicken, wet dog food, chicken jerky treats, Halloween dog toys, kabob chew sticks, buffalo tendons and bully sticks were shared.

Thursday's Treasures 10-16-2025

My first stop, this morning, was at the Jurupa Valley Motel6 to check on the puppy that got spayed yesterday. I visited with her and her 'sister'. I also provided them with a few supplies. I then made a quick stop at our PO Box to pick up a donation for 'Tink', before heading across town to the parking lot by Hunt Park. I was contacted recently to meet someone who needed dog food. While I was waiting for him, I began speaking to some people who were in a truck there. They had a little dog with them and I was inquiring as to what she might need. She had food and was already spayed, chipped and vaccinated. She wasn't interested in treats but she did love one of the toys I had with me. When the gentleman needing dog food showed up, I provided him with a twenty-pound bag as well as a few other supplies. I had not been in that part of town for a few years now. I used to go all the time, when there were people camping in and near the park. Not sure if that will change now that I gave my card to a few people but I am certainly open to going back there is needed. My final stop was at the home where 'Tink' is being fostered and where she is recuperating from the surgery she had on her leg. I always like visiting her but will be very happy when she is finally in her forever home. Looking forward to the rescue being able to make that happen... Bottled Waters, large leash, medium stainless steel pet dish, 2-large stainless steel pet dishes, 3.5 -pound bag of Pedigree high protein dog food, 20-pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, wet dog food, chicken jerky treats, plush squeaky Halloween dog toys, kabob chew sticks, bully slices and bully stick were shared.

#2,396 Gets 'The Works' 10-15-2025

We had six pets scheduled for 'the works' today. Five female dogs and one male dog. The female dog was a referral from Feeding Perris Strays. That person never showed. Three female dogs and one male dog were coming from Banning. We tried to get them done once before, but they never showed. This time, their companion assured me that she had a ride as well as a back up ride. I received a text at 7am saying that neither ride showed up and it was too late to try and put any other pets in their place. There was one person who showed. He was a little late but early enough so I was still there. It was so disappointing have to waste five appointments. We would have had to cover the cost of the four from Banning but it would have been worth it to get that family done. Not sure what they will do now. I am not taking anymore chances when four appointments are at stake. I am grateful that the entire morning was not wasted and that we got one pet in. I am also grateful that I went to visit my granddaughter for a visit. The drive was about as long as the visit but it is always worth it to spend time with her and I get to see my son too. My daughter in law is always working on Wednesdays so I look forward to catching up with her at some point. "One by one we get them done, because the only way to combat pet overpopulation and euthanasia in our shelters is to spay and neuter." Bottled Water and ARCO fuel card were shared.

Tuesday's Treasures 10-14-2025

With rain in the forecast and someone coming over to do some repairs to the flooring in my home, I wasn't sure if I would be doing my daily travels. While I was waiting for the repairman to show up, I baked a few batches of cupcakes. After my spay/neuter appointments tomorrow, I plan to spend a little time with my granddaughter. I won't see her again until after Halloween so I made the cupcakes early. I made funfetti and chocolate funfetti and was sure to make enough to share with different departments at the Riverside County Department of Animal Services. When the gentleman was done repairing my flooring, I headed out to see if I could find anyone. It was drizzling but not raining hard. I stopped in Rubidoux to give someone good news about a dog that once belonged to her granddaughter. He wound up in the shelter and then I was able to get Mary S. Robert's to pull him. He is a senior Akita mix that is one of the friendliest dogs you will ever meet. He just got adopted and I wanted her to know. She had her dog and both of her deceased sister's dogs with her. I gave them all treats and chew sticks as well as a few other supplies before heading to the Salvation Army. I did not find anyone there or at Fairmount Park. I was told about a gentleman with an emaciated dog over by the Speedway station, which is now Chevron so I drove out there. It was raining a bit harder and nobody was in the area so I proceeded to Riverside County Department of Animal Services where I said hi to my daughter and dropped off all the containers of cupcakes. From there I went to our PO Box. There was a check and a supply donation there. By the time I came out of the post office the rain was coming down harder and I called it a day. Just hoping that all of this rain doesn't stop any of the companion's, of the six pets, from keeping their spay/neuter appointments tomorrow... Bottled Waters, chicken jerky treats, wet dog food, Inaba meal toppers, large Halloween dog collar with bandana, buffalo tendons and bully stick were shared.

Monday On The Move 10-13-2025

Because today is a holiday, I wasn't sure what to expect when I drove to the Eastside and stopped at the Path of Life Community Shelter. There were a few people taking their dogs out of the kennel but I did not spend time with any of them. I drove around the Eastside for a bit, after that. I did not find a couple I was looking for but did stop to visit 'Solo' and his companion'. From there I drove through Fairmount Park and Rubidoux. I did not find anyone out and about with their pets at either place so I continued on to Jurupa Valley. Someone had called me earlier, inquiring about getting his puppy spayed, and I wanted to meet her before setting an appointment. I was able to catch up with him, the puppy and his other dog. We provided her with 'the works' when she was a puppy. We visited and I gave them supplies, before heading home. I had already done quite a bit of driving and decided I had used enough fuel for today. We are expecting rain all day tomorrow and I am also having some repairs done on my flooring so I don't know if there will be any 'daily travels' happening. I will just have to wait and see how long the repairs take and how much rain we get... Bottled Waters, small leash, hemp calming chews for pets, 20 pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, 3.5 pound bag of Pedigree for puppies, wet dog food, wet puppy food, Inaba chicken fillets, Inaba chicken broth, chicken jerky treats, glow in the dark squeaky ball, treat mat, plush squeaky Halloween pet toys, buffalo tendons and bully stick were shared.

Sunday On The Streets 10-12-2025

I went to Staters, a little before 8am, to pick up something I forgot the other day. When I left there, I was passing Dollar Tree and there was a truck out front with a dog I know sitting in the back. When I went into the store, I found out that code enforcement had just kicked them out of the spot they were staying in and all of their belongings were trashed. It might sound strange but the dog actually seemed depressed. I have known him his entire life and he is at least 8 or 9yrs. old now. He didn't want any treats which is highly unusual for him. The only thing that finally seemed to 'cheer him up' was a Kong squeaky football that I received yesterday. He perked right up and began squeaking away. I was glad I ran into them and happy I had that toy for the dog. I went home from there and left the house in time to drive out to Colton and meet a couple who have four dogs, are taking care of another and have a few cats too. Two of their dogs and the dog they are caring for came out to meet me. We visited, I provided supplies and then went to the nearest freeway onramp so I could go across town and visit 'Tink'. I had not seen her since she had her surgery about a week ago. I had some things for her and some homemade cookies for her foster who has been doing an incredible job taking care of her before and after the surgery... Bottled Waters, k9 glucosamine chews, hemp calming chews for pets, 20 pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, 2-17 pound bags of cat food from the Star Milling Company, wet cat food, Inaba Churus, wet dog food, Inaba meal toppers, chicken jerky treats, buffalo tendons, glow in the dark squeaky ball, treat mat, pumpkin pet toy, plush squeaky Halloween pet toys, double Tiller Tugs tug and squeaky Tiller Tugs tug were shared.

Saturday's Smiles 10-11-2025

There are people who give away a variety of items, at Fairmount Park, on the second Saturday of each month. Many who attend bring their pets so I have made it a regular stop. This morning, there were at least a dozen dogs there. I visited with nine of them and provided supplies. I totally ran out of the 3.5-pound bags of Pedigree for small dogs and gave away the three 20-pound bags of dog food from the Star Milling Company so I did not have enough supplies with me to give to everyone. Some of the dogs are not spayed/neutered yet anyway and I only give those dogs treats and chew sticks but nothing else. When I left the park, I drove out to Jurupa Valley. I got a notification that a donation was delivered to our PO Box so I went to pick it up. That package was there as was one more item for a donation order that has more coming. The rest of the afternoon was spent with my own dog and doing the work I can only do from home... Bottled Waters, k9 glucosamine chews, Benadryl caplets, large collar and leash set, double leash, medium stainless steel pet bowl, 2-large stainless steel pet bowls, 3-20 pound bags of dog food from the Star Milling Company, 3.5 pound bag of Pedigree for small dogs, wet dog food, Inaba meal toppers, chicken jerky treats, buffalo tendons, bully sticks, Halloween pet toys and squeaky ball were shared.

Friday's Furry Friends 10-10-2025

It is Friday so I made my usual trip to the Eastside. I parked on Massachusetts, outside the kennels, by the Path of Life Community Shelter. There were a total of eight dogs outside this morning. I visited each one, gave them treats, chew sticks and a couple of them received other items as well. When I left that location, I went across town to our storage units in order to pick up pet food. The second Saturday of the month, there is a group that brings clothing and other supplies to an area of Fairmount Park. Some of the people who go there bring their pets so I have been going for the past couple of months. I never know who will be there, unless they give me a heads up, but I bring as many supplies as I can fit in my vehicle. I am hoping to see a few familiar furry friends tomorrow... Bottled Waters, chicken jerky treats, kabob chew sticks, buffalo tendons, bully sticks, plush squeaky Halloween pet toy and glow in the dark squeaky Halloween balls were shared.

Thursday's Treasures 10-09-2025

We spayed three dogs yesterday and they were all at the Jurupa Valley Motel6. After I finished baking, I headed over there to see how they were doing. I made a quick stop in the office to drop off baked goods and candy for the staff. They are always so helpful. I appreciate their patience with me and those I put in rooms. When I left the office, I went to check on the sisters that were spayed. They seemed to be recuperating nicely. Next I went to the room where the other dogs was. She has a 'brother', from a different mother, that we neutered some time ago. They were both in the room. She also seemed to be recuperating nicely. All of the dogs ate jerky treats and enjoyed a variety of chew sticks. When I left the motel, I went home to finish cleaning up what was left of the mess from this morning's baking and then I went back out to get a nail fill and check our PO Box. I got word that donation from Max and Neo Dog Gear had been delivered. They actually sent one back in August but it got lost so they sent another. They are such a giving company and I appreciate everything they do for us and the entire rescue community... Bottled Waters, homemade baked goods, chicken jerky treats, wet dog food, wet puppy good, kabob chew sticks, chicken chew sticks, buffalo tendons and Halloween pet toys were shared.

#2,393, #2,394 & #2,395 Get 'The Works' 10-08-2025

We had six pets scheduled for 'the works' today. Three female dogs and three male dogs. Two of the people with the male dogs had now shown up for previous appointments. One of those was a veteran so I was very willing to give him another chance and did the same for the other gentleman. Both confirmed and promised to be there. Neither made it so there will unfortunately not be anymore opportunities for them. The other was a referral from Feeding Perris Strays. He confirmed with one of their people last night but did not show up either. I could not reach him and when someone finally did, an hour later, he said his truck broke down. So, what we had today was three female dogs and no males. Once again, I am disappointed to waste more appointments and sorry that three male dogs did not get what they needed but grateful that three female dogs will not be having any litters. When I left the clinic, I drove over to Mary S. Robert's to try and purchase an inflatable e-collar for a dog named 'Tink'. I ordered her one but it is not arriving until tomorrow and she really needs one. They had one there but it was a sample so they said they could not bill me. I had to pay cash, which I did not have, so I left without it. From there I went home for a bit and then went to an appointment at Kaiser. On my way home from there, I got on the freeway to make a quick stop at Trader Joes's and then went to our PO Box in Jurupa Valley. A donation of hemp chews was there for 'Tink' and a monthly recurring donation of glucosamine chews was there too. After lunch, I spent the afternoon doing the usual social media tasks, phone calls, texts, emails and icing my arm so it would not get too sore from today's vaccination. "One by one we get them done, because the only way to combat pet overpopulation and euthanasia in our shelters is to spay and neuter." Bottled Waters, ARCO fuel cards, 2m/l dog collars, large dog leash, 2 large stainless steel pet bowls, 2-20 pound bags of dog food from the Star Milling Company and a plush squeaky Halloween toy were shared.

Tuesday's Treasures 10-07-2025

My first stop, this morning, was in Rubidoux. I visited with three dogs and provided supplies. I also contacted someone else in the area to inquire about the couple with pets who I was looking for yesterday. I found out that they moved to Perris. Not sure if they got housing but I am hoping that is what happened. When I left Rubidoux, I drove to the downtown Salvation Army. I don't know if they were doing showers, or not, but I did not find the person I was looking for. I headed to Fairmount Park next. I drove through the entire park but only found one person with a dog. I stopped for them and then drove out to Jurupa Valley. I had some things to drop off for a few of the staff at Riverside County Department of Animal Services. I made a quick stop to check our PO Box first. Nothing there so I made the drop off and then went home... Bottled Waters, chicken jerky treats, collapsible pet dish with leash clip, small stainless steel pet dish, wet dog food, Inaba meal toppers, Inaba chicken broth, Dashi meal toppers, 16-pound bag of Pedigree for big dogs, chicken chew stick and buffalo tendons were shared.

Monday On The Move 10-06-2025

It turned out that there wasn't much to do this morning. I started my day in front of the kennels at the Path of Life Community Shelter. I visited with five pets and provided a few supplies. Two of the pets belong to people who are new to the shelter and both need to be spayed or neutered. The plan was to go to Colton, as soon as I was done, but the people I was supposed to meet said they were not going to be able to make it in time. I told them we could just reschedule for the weekend. I wound up driving through Fairmount Park but I did not find anyone with pets in any of the different areas I went to so I proceeded on to Rubidoux. I stopped to visit a family that has a dog and a cat but they were no longer at the spot they have been at for the past couple of years. I tried to call but their phone was shut off so there wasn't much more I could do. I drove out to our PO Box and then home to bake some cookies. Soon after, I went out again. This time it was to meet a friend for lunch. She is someone I grew up with in NY. We both moved out here many years ago and found each other by accident. The odds of two girl who grew up in a very small town moving across the country and winding up in the same city wasn't something I ever expected but it did. We have been friends for over 60 years. She is like family to me and I am always grateful when we catch up with each other... Bottled Waters, chicken jerky treats, doggie waste bags and buffalo tendons were shared.

Sunday On The Streets 10-05-2025

I was unable to get into Fairmount Park yesterday, due to an event, so I went again this morning. I drove all through the park but did not find anyone with pets. I did see code enforcement out so that may have been the reason but whatever it was I wasted the trip. There were a couple of people at motels on the Westside who asked for dog food. I had planned to see them on Wednesday, after spay/neuter appointments and after a Kaiser appointment, but I chose to go out there today. I really didn't have anything else planned and it seemed like a good idea to get it done sooner than later. When I left the second motel, I stopped at the store to pick up some bananas, so I could let them get good and ripe for baking banana bread next week, and then I went home. It was nearly lunch time and I knew my senior dog needed me to take him out anyway... Bottled Waters, Kong anxiety shirt, chicken jerky treats, wet dog food, 3.5-pound bag of Pedigree for small dogs, 20-pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, Inaba chicken fillets, Inaba chicken broth, kabob chew sticks, buffalo tendons and squeaky plush squeaky Halloween pet toys were shared.

Saturday's Smiles 10-04-2025

Due to an event at Fairmount Park, I was unable to look for any of the people, with pets, I had hoped to find there today. Instead of going to the Eastside tomorrow to visit 'Scamp and 'Joey', I went this morning. We had a visit and I provided supplies. From there I drove over to Massachusetts Avenue. I was on the opposite end of the street from where I usually park because I was looking for a couple with two dogs. I did not have time to stop for them yesterday so I did so today. While I was there, I also visited with another dog and his companion. I provided supplies for all three pets and then headed across town to our storage units. The Star Milling Company donates 600 pounds of dry dog food and 170 pounds of dry cat food around the 11th of each month. Seth Cox has been picking up delivering and helping to unload for quite some time now and when his wife Cindy is available she helps too. We were scheduled for the 10th but they had something to do and asked if we could make it work this weekend. They did the pickup yesterday and then we met at the storage units this morning. I am so grateful for the donation and for all of their help! My last stop was at Riverside County Animal Services. My daughter works there and one of the dog's she has grown fond of is deadlined for 3pm tomorrow. I shared him on my personal page and stopped in to have a look at him. She did not have time to take him out for me but I am hoping his life is spared. My family lost a very special dog ten years ago tomorrow and I would love to see this dog make tomorrow a happier day... Bottled Waters, large leash, chicken jerky treats, wet dog food, wet puppy food, 4.5-pound bag of senior dog food, 3.5-pound bag of Pedigree for small dogs, 20-pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, Inaba tuna fillet, kabob chew sticks, buffalo tendons, bully sticks and squeaky Halloween pet toys/balls were shared.

Friday's Furry Friends 10-03-2025

I stopped at two locations on the Eastside today. The first was on Massachusetts in front of the Path of Life Community Shelter kennel. I visited with six dogs and provided a few supplies. From there, I went to University and Victoria. I was given a thunder shirt that I thought might fit 'Solo'. A few years ago, he was sleeping in a car with his companion. Someone rear ended them and took off. The poor dog freaked out and he took off too. He was found the next day but it seemed he was now afraid of any type of loud noise. I am hoping the shirt might bring him a little peace. I made sure to give him a few other things including toys and treats. When I left that location, I drove out to Jurupa Valley to our PO Box. Max and Neo Dog Gear sent us a donation box in the middle of September but we never received it. When I contacted the company last week, they said it got lost somewhere in the postal system and would send a new box out. I wasn't sure when it would arrive so I checked today. It had not arrived yet but I will keep checking and hope that a grant comes through, at some point, too... Bottled Waters, large thunder shirt, chicken jerky treats, wet dog food, buffalo tendons, bully sticks, squeaky Halloween pet toys and plush squeaky Halloween pet toys were shared.

Thursday's Treasures 10-02-2025

Today is Yom Kippur so I decided to do as little work as possible but I did go to the motel in order to check on the pets that received 'the works' yesterday. Only three of them were there. The companion of one of the dog's shared a room with a friend, because she didn't have an ID. I have know that person for many years and have been providing services for him since he was a puppy. He is a senior now. After visiting each of the dog's, and providing supplies, I drove to our PO Box. I was happy to find a letter with donations for us and for 'Tink'. I went home from there...Bottled Waters, large collar, large leash, 8-pound bag of senior dog food, wet dog food, wet puppy food, Inaba tuna fillets, Inaba chicken fillets, chicken jerky treats, kabob chew sticks, chicken chew sticks, bully stick and plush squeaky Halloween toys were shared.

#2,389, 90, 91 and #2,392 Get 'The Works' 10-01-2025

We had six dogs schedule for 'the works' today. Five females and one male. Three of those females have had multiple litters. One of them was in heat today. First thing this morning, I received a text telling me someone who was driving another person's dog in was going to be late. Thankfully, it was still early enough to get the dog checked in. She was one of the three that has had multiple litters. Everyone confirmed, including a Veteran who stays on March Air Force Base. He turned out to be a no show and did not call or text with a reason. The other no show's phone went straight to voicemail. Not the way I wanted to start a new month but grateful that three dogs will not be having anymore litters in the future and the other female will never have one. I left at 8am, right before the last dog was checked in. "One by one we get them done, because the only way to combat pet overpopulation and euthanasia in our shelters is to spay and neuter." Bottled Waters, homemade cookies, ARCO fuel cards, 2 small leashes, small Max and Neo dog collar, medium dog collar, slip lead, 2-3.5 pound bags of Pedigree for small dogs, 2-20 pound bags of dog food from the Star Milling Company and plush squeaky Halloween toys were shared.
