Monday On The Move 1-19-2026

I started today on the Eastside. With it being a holiday, I wasn't sure what I would find when I got to the Path of Life Community Shelter. The kennel area was already locked back up but some people did have their dogs out. I met with one of them in front of the kennel area and then I met with a couple in an alley area around the corner. I also met with others in that same area. I provided a few with supplies and scheduled one dog for 'the works' on Wednesday. From there, I drove over to University and Victoria to meet someone else with his dog. We had a visit and I shared a few supplies before heading home. A short while later, I went out to meet a friend for lunch before returning home to start my afternoon work routine... Bottled waters, Benadryl caplets, finger dental wipes for pets, tear stain wipes for pets, paw rub, collapsible pet dish with leash clip, vienna sausages, Inaba Churu Rolls, handmade pet jacket, chicken jerky treats, 2-20-pound bags of dog food from the Star Milling Company, Inaba Twins. Inaba meal toppers, wet dog food, buffalo tendons, bully slices and bully sticks were shared.

Sunday On The Streets 1-18-2026

I made arrangements to meet someone at our storage units this morning so she could drop off a donation while I was picking up more pet food. After she left, I headed over to Colton to meet with some people who had spoken to me about needing pet food. Nine dogs met me at that location. A few came with their companions and some followed others there. All of the pets received treats and chew sticks and many received supplies as well. One of the homeless women had been given boxes of eye wipes, dental wipes and paw balm. She asked if I could use any of those. I took packages of each. Anything I don't need or use will get passed along where it is needed. From there, I drove home, did a little housework, ate lunch and then got started on my daily routine at my desk... Bottled waters, large bag of recyclables, handmade pet jackets, large leash, chicken jerky treats, 3.5-pound bag pf Pedigree for small dogs, 4-20-pound bags of dog food from the Star Milling Company, 17-pound bag of cat food from the Star Milling Company, wet cat food, Inaba Twins. Inaba meal toppers, Inaba Churus, Inaba juicy bites, wet dog food, large bag of jerky treats, buffalo tendons, bully slices and bully sticks were shared.

Saturday's Smiles 1-17-2025

I was expecting a delivery, this morning, so I did not make any plans to do my daily travels. Delivery people seem have a habit of showing up at the end of a scheduled time slot or sometimes not at all. I felt lucky today. Not only did they show up but they were here fifteen minutes before the beginning of their time slot. That gave me time to go out for a bit. I drove through Rubidoux and then to Fairmount Park. I saw where one of the fires had broken out yesterday but I did not find anyone with pets in any areas of the park. I tried calling someone, before driving back through Rubidoux. She did not answer so I took a chance and went to where she stays. She was there and I was able to visit with the dogs and provide supplies. From there, I went to our PO Box to pick up a prescription I was waiting for and then returned home where I answered calls, texts, emails and worked on social media... Bottled waters, chicken jerky treats, 20-pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, large bag of jerky treats, kabob chew sticks, Nubz chews, buffalo tendons and a bully stick were shared.

Friday's Furry Friends 1-16-2026

First, I would like to thank all of the people who donated for the cremation of 'Rocky'. We met our goal and have about $130 left over that will be put towards the next pet needing that service. I am hoping it is not in the near future though... It's Friday, so I drove to the Eastside and parked by the Path of Life Community Shelter on Massachusetts. The kennels all need to be cleaned out on Fridays so everyone is supposed to get their pets, and their pet's belongings, out of the kennel area. It was pretty busy over there. Eighteen pets were at that location. I spent time with nine of them and managed to get photos of eight. When I left that location, I drove back to Jurupa Valley, checked our (empty) PO Box and then went in the house for an 11am zoom meeting. After lunch, I worked on social media, emails, texts, calls and scheduling spay and neuter appointments... Bottled waters, chicken jerky treats, Inaba Twins, Inab Churus, Tiller Tugs leash, kabob chew sticks and bully sticks were shared.

Thursday's Treasures 1-15-2026

Two of the five pets that received 'the works' yesterday were put in the Motel6 last night. The others had somewhere else to go. At 9am, I went to the motel and checked on both pets. The first was a female dog named 'Bella'. She was still a bit 'out of it' but was recuperating nicely. The other was a male cat named 'Sylvester'. He seemed to be doing fine and even enjoyed some of the chicken jerky I brought for the dog. I did not do anymore of my daily travels, when I left the motel, because I needed to get out to Costco and pick up my glasses. From there, I stopped at home for a bit and then went back out to get my two week fill and check the PO Box which was empty. I returned home after that. I took care of social media, replied to texts, emails, phone calls and scheduled spay/neuter appointments. Not the busiest day but I accomplished what needed done... Bottled waters, chicken jerky treats and a bully stick were shared.

#2,431, 32, 33, 34 and #2,435 Get 'The Works' 1-14-2026

We had six pets scheduled, and confirmed, for 'the works' today. There were two female cats, one male cat, two female dogs and one male dog. While I was meeting with the people who showed up with pets, I received a call that one of the dog's was not going to make it. Their ride did not show and I found out later that he got a flat tire. Once everyone was checked in, I went home for a bit and then drove out to our storage units to pick up more pet food, before returning home for the rest of the day. "One by one we get them done, because the only way to combat pet overpopulation and euthanasia in our shelters is to spay and neuter." Bottled waters, ARCO fuel, Max and Neo medium dog collar, Max and Neo leash, doggie waste bags, cards, 2-17 pound bags of cat food from the Star Milling Company, 2-20 pound bags of dog food from the Star Milling Company, wet cat food, wet dog food, Inaba Twins, Inaba Churus and plush squeaky dog toys were shared.

Tuesday's Treasures 1-13-2026

I did not have any specific plans for today so I just got in my vehicle and drove towards downtown Riverside. My first stop was at Fairmount Park. I visited with the companion of two dogs. He had a third dog with him that was found running down Market Street two days ago. I checked and she did not have a chip. I explained that not having a chip doesn't mean someone is not looking for her. I also said she will be high maintenance, will need grooming, etc. and really shouldn't be living outdoors. I took a few photos, did a little video and wrote down his information so I could get something posted on the Riverside County Department of Animal Services website and some lost and found pages. I drove around other areas of the park but did not find anyone with pets so I drove back through Rubidoux. I visited with two dogs there and provided supplies. My daughter contacted me, after I left there. Someone needed a collar and food for their dog. The woman was in the parking lot of Animal Services. I had something to drop off for my daughter so I was already going there. I took care of the dog's needs first, dropped off what I had for my daughter and then went home to load my vehicle for tomorrow and to start working at my desk... Bottled waters, fudge covered pretzel rods, chicken jerky treats, large Max and Neo dog collar, large leash, 2-20 pound bags of dog food from the Star Milling Company, Inaba Twins, wet dog food, bully sticks, kabob chew sticks and Nubz chews were shared.

Monday On The Move 1-12-2026

Before I left the house, I started calling people to confirm their spay/neuter appointments for Wednesday. It looks like everyone plans to keep their appointments so I am hoping that happens. When I did go out, I drove over to the Path of Life Community Shelter on the Eastside. I visited with eight pets. Most received treats and a chew stick. I also met someone who needs her dog spayed so I gave her my contact card to set up an appointment date. When I left that location, I drove back home to put together a couple of baked goods packages to bring to the post office. The 2025 Animal Victory 'Home Street Home' project was a success. We put together, and distributed, forty bags again this year. There are two women who I work most closely with. They live in different states so I wanted to send them each a 'sweet' thank you. I was able to get the packages shipped and found a nice card with a donation in our PO Box too. When I left the post office, I went home for a bit and then went back out to meet a good friend for lunch. When I returned home from there, I got busy with desk work... Bottled waters, fudge covered pretzel rods, chicken jerky treats, plush squeaky dog toys, bully sticks, kabob chew sticks and Nubz chews were shared.

Sunday On The Streets 1-11-2026

Before doing my daily travels, this morning, I first had to get my vehicle's oil changed. When I arrived for my appointment, I was told that only one worker was coming in and he would not be there for half an hour. I had plans to meet with a couple of people, and a few pets, in the parking lot of the Riverside County Department of Animal Services and this meant I was going to be late. Thankfully, one of gentleman had a phone. I was able to let him know the situation and told him I would be there just as soon as my vehicle was done. I texted, as soon as it was. I visited with four pets and provided supplies. One of them received 'the works' from us and the others were done by their companions. I did drive through a couple of areas of Jurupa Valley but when I did not find anyone with pets, I went home and started working from there. I have a full schedule of spay and neuter appointments for the next couple of weeks and I am doing my best to confirm or change those that need it. I always confirm and still wind up with no-shows but I make the effort hoping for the best... Bottled waters, pet jackets, collapsible pet dish with leash clip, 2-20 pound bags of dog food from the Star Milling Company, Inaba Twins, chicken jerky treats, plush squeaky dog toys, bully sticks and Kong balls were shared.

Saturday's Smiles 1-10-2026

I spent my time at two different locations in Fairmount Park, this morning. It was windy, and my allergies were already suffering from the high winds yesterday, so I was only there for about ninety minutes. Afterwards, I went and paid our yearly PO Box fee and then home to work from there…… Today was the day I was finally supposed to meet up with an independent filmmaker who I have been speaking to for months. He is doing a documentary on rescues and was going to include our work. I already did voice recordings of interview questions so he just needed to do some filming. We were supposed to meet last month but he got the flu so I thought we were finally going to make it happen but last night he said it was getting too complicated and decided to omit our part in the documentary. I am not one that likes to have photos or videos taken but I will do it when it helps people learn about the work or if my charity might potentially benefit. I was disappointed that this did not work out and hope there are different opportunities in the future. We are so small and it is difficult to get noticed. It is equally as difficult to get grants or large donations, I did not seek this filmmaker out. He contacted me so there is no telling if someone else may do the same. In the mean time, I will continue doing what I do. It is never done for recognition but recognition seems to be one of the main ways donations come in. March will be 14 years that Taking It To The Streets with Lori and Shira began so I am hoping to put together an event fundraiser to celebrate and hopefully help us financially. I will update when and if I can make it happen... Bottled waters, chicken jerky treats, Benadryl caplets, pet jacket, 6 pound bag of senior dog food for small dogs, Inaba Twins, plush squeaky dog toys, buffalo tendons, bully sticks and kabob chew sticks were shared.

Happy New Year! Thursday's Treasures 1-01-2026

We closed out our spay/neuter program, of 2025, by providing five pets with 'the works' yesterday. One of them had a place to start recuperating so we rented rooms for the other four. I went to the Jurupa Valley Motel6 this morning to check on them and to visit a pet that was staying in one of the rooms with a friend whose pet was neutered. When I went to get more treats from my vehicle, I ran into a gentleman in the parking lot. He had a dog with him that I had not seen in a very long time. This particular dog is both people and pet aggressive but he recognized me as someone with treats and barked until I gave him some. I left him with a bully stick as well. I was unable to see the cat, because he had climbed under the bed but his companion said everything seemed fine. The rain picked up again, as I was leaving the last room, so I did not go looking for anyone else with pets. I made a quick stop at the store to pick up one last ingredient for a crock pot of soup I had started earlier this morning and then I went back home... Bottled waters, fleece blankets, chicken jerky treats, 20 pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, Tiller Tugs leash, buffalos tendons, bully sticks, kabob chew sticks and plush squeaky dog toys were shared.

Friday's Furry Friends 1-02-2025

The skies were cloudy but no rain, in the morning forecast, so I drove over to the Eastside. In addition to visiting pets in the Path of Life Community Shelter kennel, I was actually supposed to meet someone who contacted me about dog food yesterday. I tried to contact him but his phone went straight to voicemail and he never showed. There were about fifteen pets, at that location, and I visited with eleven of them. All of the dogs received chew sticks and treats. I also provided someone with a bag of dog food. When we were done, I drove to a house over by the Wood Streets. I dropped off some of my homemade soup and baked goods before proceeding on to our storage units. I picked up some supplies there, checked our (empty) PO Box and then went back home. It is supposed to rain tomorrow but I try to be prepared just in case it doesn't rain or there is a break and I can go out for a bit. After I unloaded items I had gotten from our storage, I restocked my vehicle for tomorrow's travels. I then made it just in time for a zoom meeting... Bottled waters, chicken jerky treats, 20-pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, buffalo tendons, bully sticks and kabob chew sticks a were shared.

Saturday's Smile 1-03-2025

If it was not raining, I had plans for this morning. It was to meet with a couple of people, and their dogs, in the parking lot of the Riverside County Department of Animal Services, drop off some homemade soup and pumpkin bread to my daughter for her lunch break and then head out to Rubidoux for a woman with three dogs. Both people showed up in the parking lot of animal services but one of those people did not have his dog with him. The dog was running loose in the river bottom. We could see him but he would not come to where we were. I waited awhile to see if the companion could leash the dog and bring him up to where I was but it did not happen. I don't normally leave food, if a dog is not present, but I did give that dog's food to someone to being back to the gentleman's camp. He has a bad back and it is hard for him to walk or carry anything so I did not want to make him come back. After I gave my daughter what I had brought for her, I tried calling the person, I was supposed to meet, in Rubidoux. She did not answer the call or any of the texts I sent. I ran an errand, while I waited to see if she might get ahold of me. She never did so I went home. I stayed for a short while and then went back out. I was not able to get a fill on Thursday, because the nail salon was closed for New Year's, so I went today... Bottled waters, chocolate caramel pretzel rods, slip lead, chicken jerky treats, 2-20 pound bags of dog food from the Star Milling Company, 17-pound bag of cat food from the Star Milling Company, wet cat food, Inaba Twins, Inaba Churu Rolls, Inaba Churus, Inaba meal toppers. buffalo tendons, bully sticks and plush squeaky toy were shared.

Sunday On The Streets 1-04-2026

Rain was in the forecast today so I was not sure if I was actually going to be able to meet up with anyone. I was supposed to meet some people so I was hoping for the best. I did some early morning baking, picked up a few things at the grocery store and then went out to meet someone, in Jurupa Valley, who asked for dog food. He did not have his dog with him which is always disappointing. I told him to contact me again when she was with him. From there, I drove out to Fairmount Park where I was scheduled to meet a couple of people needing dog food for their three dogs. I was able to give them the food as well as other supplies. When we were done, I drove around the park. I spotted a dog, hanging out with his companion, under one of the gazebos. The companion was sleeping but the dog stood up when he saw me so I walked over with treats and a few supplies. From there, I headed across town to our storage units. It began raining as I was on my way. It rained the entire time I was loading pet food in my vehicle and then finally stopped again right about the time I got back home. I unloaded some of what I had picked up and filled my vehicle with supplies for tomorrow's travels. As long as there is no rain, the woman who makes out pet jackets is supposed to meet me by the Path of Life Community Shelter. We ran out of some of the sizes and she is going to replenish them. We are fortunate to have her doing this for us... Bottled waters, handmade pet jackets, chicken jerky treats, large bag of jerky treats, 3.5 pound bag of Pedigree for small dogs, 20-pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, Inaba Twins, Inaba Churu Rolls, buffalo tendons, bully sticks, plush squeaky toys and squeaky Kong balls were shared.

Monday On The Move 1-05-2026

I spent my time, this morning, on the Eastside in front of the Path of Life Community Shelter. I was met there by Tecla Samtoi who came to deliver more of her handmade pet jackets. There were eleven pets, in the area, and I visited with eight of them. Three received jackets and two of those were dogs I met for the first time. Supplies were provided to a few of the people. Each pet received treats and a chew stick as well. When I left that location, I drove to the workplace of the wife of the gentleman who does our website. Each month, I drop off a bag of my baked goods and things for their cats as a thank you. The website is kept up on a volunteer basis and I really appreciate all that goes into that. The monthly bags are just a small token of that appreciation. I headed home from there and began my usual work routine... Bottled waters, handmade pet jackets, chicken jerky treats, 3.5 pound bag of high protein Pedigree, 20-pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, Inaba Twins, buffalo tendons, bully slices, bully sticks and stainless steel pet dish were shared.

#2,427, 28, 28 and #2,430 Get 'The Works' 1-07-2026

We had six pets confirmed for spay/neuter services today. Three female dogs, two male dogs and a female cat. The female cat was a now show last week. The companion texted me multiple times asking for another chance. I told her she could have that chance today as long as she promised to show up which she did. At 7:15am, she called to say she wasn't going to be able to make it. Her cat was in heat so I hope she gets the help she needs. Early this morning, I received texts from someone asking for the address for today's spay/neuter appointments and another saying she overslept. I wasn't sure what to expect but hoped for the best. Both of those people showed up as did two others. One of the people with a female dog was a no show. I waited for nearly an hour and she did not respond to any of my texts or calls. I have all six appointments scheduled for next week, three for the following week and a couple of people calling me back to make appointments. I would have liked to have given the two wasted appointments to a couple of those pets but it is not something I can do last minute. I am disappointed about the no shows but grateful for the four we were able to get in. "One by one we get them done, because the only way to combat pet overpopulation and euthanasia in our shelters is to spay and neuter." Bottled waters, ARCO fuel cards, handmade pet jackets, medium collar, small Max and Neo leash, slip lead, 3.5 pound bag of Pedigree puppy food, 8 pound bag of Purina senior dog food, 20 pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company and plush squeaky dog toys were shared.

Thursday's Treasures 1-08-2026

Before going to the Jurupa Valley Motel6 to check on three of the pets that received 'the works' yesterday, I met someone in the parking lot of a local CircleK. I visited, provided supplies and then headed to the motel. I went to the three rooms where we had pets recuperating and I also went to a room that was being rented by someone I know with two dogs. When I left the motel, I ran a few personal errands and then went home to begin my work there... Bottled waters, Premier protein shakes, 3.5 pound bag of Pedigree puppy food, 20 pound bag of dog food from the Star Milling Company, chicken jerky treats, Inaba twins, kabob chew sticks, bully slices, bully sticks, buffalo tendons and plush squeaky dog toys were shared.

Friday's Furry Friends 1-09-2026

It was cold, when I left the house this morning, and the winds were strong. I could feel the pull as I was driving towards the Eastside. When I arrived at the Path of Life Community Shelter, there were a few people outside with their pets. I visited with seven of them. I might have spent time with others but something rather scary happened. While I was giving one of the dog's a treat, I hear this very loud buzzing/popping sound. I saw a palm fronds on the electrical wires and what looked almost like fireworks. One of the dog's that was tethered below the area was clearly shaken and was crying loudly. I wasn't sure if any of the burning embers had hit her. I ran to get her companion and she moved the dog. We did not see any injuries on her so we are thinking she just got very scared. I hung around for a bit and she was back to her normal self but I didn't feel like sticking around any longer. From there I drove across town to our storage units where I waited for Cindy and Seth Cox to arrive. They had our 770-pound donation of pet food from the Star Milling and a pallet of water donated by the Nestle Bottling Company. I want to thank them for the pickups, delivery and helping to unload all of it! When I left our storage units, I dropped off my rental and was able to drive my vehicle back home. I worked at my desk hoping the winds would die down a bit so I could unload and restocked for tomorrow's travels but that did not happen. I will just have to get that done early tomorrow morning... Bottled waters, chicken jerky treats, bully sticks and kabob chew sticks were shared.
